Customize Export template

Hi,
I would like to generate a Outlook Calendar file (.vsc, plain text) from HTMLDB. I think the "Export CSV File" template is an easy way to try. I know we can add a HTML region for customized text from the follow thread:
Add text to downloaded CSV file
Now my question is how to change the extension to .vsc ? Is there any way to customize an export template ?

I would suggest you try the trial version of Acrobat to see if it meets your needs (just create a simply form from within Acrobat -- not the online form tool). Each field is given a field name and is saved accordingly. You can save a response (probably sent as a FDF data file) by opening the FDF file in the PDF form and then using the Manage Data to save or append to a CSV file (I think CSV is an option). It would be hoped that you can create the order of the fields to meet the needs of the specific CSV file. You might get a bit better info in the forms sub-forum, though many of the folks will be checking here eventually.

Print Dialog Options 1
In the print dialog screen, various options for formatting the output can be set.
Layout options:
Fit the output to the page width and continue on subsequent pages if necessary.
Fit the output to one page.
Fit the output over several pages in a poster format. This allows the output pages to be reassembled in a larger format.
Margin options:
Top, bottom, left and right margins can be set in various units of measure.
Print Dialog Options 2
Depending on the color capabilities of the output device, a colored or grayscale theme can be chosen.
The output page size and page orientation can be specified.
Up to three components of both the footer and header (left, center and right) can be specified on the fly.
When all print options have been selected, the PDF file is ready to be generated.

Exporting Templates

We are using Oracle 10.1.4.
We have modified a template in development, we hid some items, we moved it to our Test environment and there was a page attached to the template for which the content disappeared. It would be different if the content items disappeared from the template, but in this case it disappeared from the Page using the template, which is weird.
We read the logs and received:

[10-OCT-06 16:26:53][Warning: (WWU-74244)] context = Template Pre-check
user = PORTAL Page Template TP_HR_HEADER belonging to PGRP_SHI_CNT page group is being imported in replace on import mode. Any changes done to the
template object (items, portlets, etc) on the page(s) using the template will be overwritten by the template replication when the import operation completes.
Here is the explanation from the documentation:
WWU-74244 - Page Template %1 belonging to %2 page group is being imported
in replace on import mode. Any changes done to the template object (items,
portlets, etc) on the page(s) using the template will be overwritten by the
template replication when the import operation completes.
Cause:
Page template replication deletes all template objects (items, portlets, etc) found in the pages using the template and re-creates them based on the template definition. This will remove any changes done at the page level for those template objects.
Action:
If page template needs to under-go constant updates do not make changes
to the pages' template objects. If template objects changes need to be
preserved, bring the template in reuse mode (uncheck the Replace on Import
checkbox in the manifest).
I am trying to understand the explanation above, does anyone have any suggestions? I do not want to start exporting Templates and then content from pages using these disappearing. I am wondering if this is a bug in Portal?
This would defeat the purpose of developing in a Development environment and then exporting to Test and then Production because content will start disappearing.

Dear Juan,
No, this is not a bug. This is the expected behaviour. It may seem kind of weird, right? But if you have in mind what happens you'll somehow understand it better.
What happens is due to the template replication to the pages. Remember that templates are something from which you base your pages. If those change then expect the pages to be changed too. What can you do to bring it back to the right place again?

=> Check there the workaround section, ie, you'll have to import 1st the templates and later the Page Group/Pages.
I hope the above is somehow clear... Anything just update this thread.
On an aside note, I strongly encourage you to perform a VALID backup to your Target Portal before you do any kind of Portal Import as it will be a lot easier for you to recover from previous state in case you need or you feel it doesn't work as you expect.

Can I customize iWeb Templates?

Can I customize iWeb templates? For example, if I use a template, can I customize the background, navigation bar text, etc...? PLEASE HELP!

You can use solid, web safe colors for both or your own graphic files. This may not work for some themes that have their own unique graphic files for part of their background, like the center light area of the Darkroom theme.

Can I customize XDP-templates?

When working with LC Designer you can save a common used lay-out (e.g. presenting corporate's identity) as a Designer Template (tds-file), which is very helpful when you need to create new forms in a common lay-out.
When creating a new XDP-form from the Workbench I'm also able to select a template, but it is actually only a list of paper sizes (A4, Letter, etc.).
Is it possible to extend or customize the templates presented in the Workbench? And if, how?

I looked into this before and I was able to get customized templates to appear in the standalone version but not in the workbench version.

PowerPoint Export: Templates

Hi,
I would like to be able to export to a powerpoint template slide instead of a blank slide. Has anyone been able to get Xcelsius to do this?
Reasoning behind: as there is no preview mode in the PowerPoint, I've made a text on which the dashboard overlays. It basically says "start this powerpoint in presentation mode to see the dashboard". Once the presentation is started, the text is faded out instantly and the dashboard shown. Having to copy paste Xcelsius into these new sheets is tedious. Prefer to have export to a template straight away.

If you are using Office 2007, then you can create a custom layout in Powerpoint. Then you would only have to export your dashboard and the click on you custom layout to apply the correct format. Here is how you do that:
Click the View tab, then click the Slide Master button in the Presentation Views group. The slide master appears.
On the Slide Master tab, in the Edit Master group, choose Insert Layout. A new layout appears in the left pane.
Again on the Slide Master tab, in the Master Layout group, click the Insert Placeholder button's down arrow and choose one of the 8 placeholder types.
Drag on the slide to size and place the placeholder.
Place more placeholders, laying them out as needed.
When you're done, click the layout in the left pane, display the Slide Master tab. In the Edit Master group, click the Rename button. Enter a name and click Rename.
The presentation now contains the new layout and you can choose it the same way you'd choose any of the standard layouts for any slide.
If you want to use the layout in the future, save the file as a template (.potx, or .potm if it contains macros) or theme (thmx).

How to Customize "Export to Excel" functionality in applicationsTable

Hi All,
I have an applicationsTable with exportEnabled. In my table, I have a column with commandImageLink. when we click on it, the summary of that particular record will be shown in the pop up. Now when I use "Export to Excel" feature I want the pop up content too to be exported to the Excel. Currently the column is shown with blank data in the exported Excel. Is there a way I can achieve that?
How do I override/customize the default functionality? Please suggest me.

Import/export - templates not working?

We're just trying to deploy our Portal application into the production environment, and having a lot of problems. We're still on 3.0.6.6.5.
Firstly - if we import something more than once it creates a 2nd version. I've seen messages on this forum saying the -m switch has values of new/reuse, but the docs say check or create only. Is this a change at 3.0.7 or 3.0.8? I'm a little nervous about deleting objects in the production environment, we've been having random problems with metadata corruption when deleting objects in the dev environment.
Secondly, we have our own template which is assigned to all application components. When we tried to export/import the template, we got no errors but it obviously didn't work. When we tried to edit the template to take a look at it, we got an error saying we're missing some dependent objects. The only objects referenced by the template are images and fonts - we haven't created our own, we've reused standard images & fonts, so why are we getting this error?

Answers to your questions :
1. One cannot import the same component twice on the same portal instance. You might have tried the import with -m check option.
2. There are two modes in which an application/component import can run :
CREATE and CHECK.
3.Can you specify the exact error that you got when you tried to edit the template?

How do you edit the HTML export template?

Fireworks HTML and images export does not render correctly when viewing in IE9 due to the default browser padding values. I'm a little disappointed the Fireworks dev team didn't see this coming and add some code to prevent this rendering issue. Anyway... I've come up with a work around to edit the html pages by adding my own style sheet which includes the yahoo CSS reset styles to take care of this problem and it works great. The only problem is, adding it to every page of a multiple page export is tedious. So, I'd like to directly edit the HTML template fireworks uses to generate the html in the head of each page it exports so it includes a reference to my own external style sheet. I just need to know where/if I can make this change. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've never tried it, but the HTML Code folder inside Fireworks' application Configuration folder contains a number of items related to HTML Export. (Incidentally, I'd never mess with this folder without first saving a backup, and even then it's at your own risk.)
There's no simple HTML template file here, but there are files like "DreamweaverLibrary.htt", which is a "hypertext template" file that looks a lot like JavaScript to me. So if you're comfortable modifying JavaScript, then you could take a crack at it. I'm not sure, but it looks like this library file might govern what gets written into the head of an exported HTML document. If not, you could try a different one.
Another, less invasive approach might be to do some kind of Find and Replace on the exported HTML documents—using Dreamweaver or a text editor.

JDEV 11G R1 - Customize default template

Is there anyway to customize it as per our requirement like removing Oracle logo from it.

You can create the template yourself and then make it available for your pages, under the JSF menu you have jsf page template option. The 3 column jspx template should be inside one of the jars of JDeveloper, although it won't take you much to create a similar one from scratch.

How to Customize exported file name

Guys,
Need your assistance for one of the requirement.
I have a report which gives info about sales & invoice. I'm using BO XIR3 to refresh this report each time.
My requirement is after refresh, when I do export to excel/pdf, the file should be stored on my local machine with NAMING in customized format. i.., report name followed by Fiscal Week Name.
Ex: Report name: sales.rep, the download excel or pdf should be named as sales201048.xls or sales201048.pdf
Please assist on how to do this. I'm new to this tool.

With InfoView it is not possible. Max you can place add only Date and Time.
However, you can use SDK and schedule the report and set your required name by implementing the logic of adding WeekNumber to the file name within your java code.

Customize export options (JSP)

Hi all,I'm developing a web application with JSP technology. I would know if is possible to disable some export options displayed in the html export page created automatically by the JRC. Particularly I would disable RPT export format.I've modified the function getFormatDropdownList() in export.js file, but it doesn't work. I suppose that the combo-box containing export options is created by some JRC class. Thanks in advance. 

Hi, I am actually not sure off the top of my head how to do this. In the old days with the ActiveX it was easy because we could just get rid of the Export Format DLL and the viewer would honor that, but with Java I am quite sure it is not as easy. Customize default template

I am using Default theme 3 as my template in apex and i want to change the size of the tab, reposition it and give some other color to it, how do i do it, if anyone can provide me a example it will be great.

OK - firstly, you said that you were using Theme 3 but your class names reference Theme 2??? So, it could be that you have altered the wrong file? However, I have seen in threads that there is an issue with caching, so you may have to clear the cache on your browser to see any changes.
To start with, however, I would suggest that you try out your styling by using a STYLE tag in the page template's Header setting - put it somewhere between #HEAD# and </head>. The theme's css files is added where the #HEAD# string is and you need to override some styling. CSS styling principles state that you can use the same class name multiple times and the browser will overwrite one setting with a replacement setting (unless !important has been added to a style) until a final style definition is created for a class.
So, firstly, assuming you are using Theme 2, change your page template's heading to:

... everything after </head>But, into this STYLE tag, you should also consider adding any classes used in the Standard Tab Attributes and Parent Tab Attributes settings on the page template as these may also have font-size settings and other styles you want to change.
Doing it this way makes it easier to change the styles until you are happy that it looks correct. Only when you are happy, should you look at updating the css stylesheets themselves.

The submit button includes ALL the PDF's fields in the XML file it generates. Is it possible to pick and choose the fields that are used to create this XML file? If yes, how please?

You could also construct your own xml data in hidden fields.
This example is for making a csv file but you could do the same by building the xml structure:

AME - Windows Media export, default templates and non-square pixels

In Adobe Media Encoder the default Windows Media export templates have non-square Pixel Aspect Ratio. In Windows Media Player 9, if you play AME's wmvs with non-square pixels all you get is a vertical line a few pixels wide (though they play fine in WMP10 & 11).
There is definitely a problem with non-square pixels.
Using AME, if you create a PAL wmv (720x576 with DV PAL P.A.R.) you get the display problem in WMP9, whereas a D-1 PAL wmv (768x576 with square P.A.R.) will display fine. If you encode the same content with exact the same settings (codec, resolution, etc) with Microsoft's Windows Media 9 Encoder, the resultant output plays fine regardless of the P.A.R!
One for you chaps at Adobe I think:
If Windows Media Encoder can create WMP9 compatible wmvs, why can't Adobe Media Encoder?
or if there is a problem with non-square PARs, then why is it an option on export - remove it until it is fixed?
Any support would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using Prem 4.1 with AME 4.1 against Windows ME 9. WMP9 is the base player we have to support, so upgrading all the players isn't a option.

If you can't upgrade the players, then using Windoes Media Enoder may be your only option. Adobe just came out with a 4.1 patch, so it's unlikely you'll see any more 'fixes' in the very near future.
