Customize HTML Editor in "online edit", set/change colors

Hello Everyone,
is it possible to set/change new colors for text in oline editing in HTML Editor in KM-Content? if the answer will be "yes"..so how to do it?
Thank You for answers,
Karol

Hi Shiva,
The first SAP note applies to other browsers and works well for IE6. The problem we face is with IE6. We are already on SPS 21 so according to the note the issue should not appear.
Are there any other solutions for this ?

• KM HTML Editor unable to edit

Hi,
I am having a weird situation where I am unable to edit the HTML editor in the XML Form. Rest all controls like (Textfields, etc) are working.
Only the HTML editor control is not editable.
Can anyone give me any solution on this.

Please see SAP Note 1840665 - HTML Editor in XMLForms is not displayed
I had a similar issue to what you described and the solution provided in this note corrected it.  If this is not the same issue you are facing, please provide more details, as I have a good bit of experience with KM issues.

• Can I edit my dreamweaver CS6 site in another html editor?

My client wants to be able to make minor updates to his website. I've built it in DW CS6. Can he update it KompoZer or some other free HTML editor? And will those changes also be made to his mobile site?
Thank you so much!

You may want to consider building the site(s) with a backend CMS (content management system) that the client can log-in to for editing.  This requires no special software on his part.  All he needs is an internet connection and a web browser so the site can be updated from virtually anywhere in the world.  The other main advantage to providing him with a CMS is that the rest of the site cannot be messed up by the client since he will only have access to the pages you designate.  Depending on your coding skills, requirements and budget, the following CMSs might be all you need.
Cushy CMS (watch the video to see how it works)
No PHP or databases required.

Perch ($59 license per site)
PHP & MySql required

• Problem with HTML Editor box in XML Form

Hi all,
I am using a HTML editor box in one of the XML form template. When I parse the data from HTML editor and apply my own style sheet and display in JSP page, it has no effect on it. Instead the style set by HTML editor box is being applied. Is there any way to override the style applied by HTML editor ?
For example,
Suppose  user enters "Hello" in HTML Editor box and saves the xml form.
Then when I parse this data and apply my style sheet like
<style="font-family:arial; font-size:12"><%= datafromXMLform() %>
I should get "Hello" in arial font with size 12, instead I am getting size=1 because of style applied by html editor.
Is there anyway to remove/override this style?
Thanks in advance,
Sandesh

Got it !!!
In the property section of html editor in form builder , set the style as none/empty instead of standard.

• Html Editor in C# Windows Application

Hello,
I am using WebBrowser Control in C# Windows Application,when I change the language from English to Japanese or Chinese,I am unable to type desired language text inside it.
At the same time when I typed text in our forum text editor I am able to type desired text.
My aim is to provide same functionality in my windows application html editor.

Hi Nikhil,
>> when I change the language from English to Japanese or Chinese,I am unable to type desired language text inside it.
What do you by “language from English to Japanese or Chinese” and “type desired language text inside it”? Was the language you changed the winfrom language or the system language? Where did you type the text and could you share us a screen shot about this?
>> My aim is to provide same functionality in my windows application html editor.

• Changing the font size does not work with Textarea with HTML Editor

If you change the font size in the text area of a "Textarea with HTML Editor" item it does not work. I've searched the forum and the only solution I've seen is to use an HTML editor foriegn to APEX. Does anyone have a better solution? Thanks, Elizabeth

I'm having a similar issue except with HTML Editor Standard.
What I'm doing is allow someone to write to an HTML Editor Standard field and then an HTML marked up text is saved to a db CLOB column. In another page, I reference this DB column and show it in an HTML Region (I do a computation Before Regions for a hidden item that writes out the html with "htp.p")
Everything shows up fine EXCEPT the font tags and headings. I'm finding that the HTML Region sets the font size only with the < d i v s t y l e="font-size: large" >and NOT < f o n t size:6 >. When the HTML Editor renders the user's text input, any size changes are made with the < f o n t > tag, which is depreciated anyways, and not with "style". That's why the size is not showing up.
I can't really figure out why the headings aren't showing up except maybe the css style in the region is overridding it...
Is there another APEX item type like HTML Editor (which uses FCKEditor) that I can use, or maybe another approach to remedy this issue? Or maybe this post calls for an enhancement with the HTML Editor?{size}{size}

• How to create an HTML editor on Apex with the buttons for editing?

Hi,
I would like to have an online editor similar to the one I am using to post this thread with a bold, itallic and links button.
I see there are HTML editor items, however it doesn't have the bold, font buttons when I create the page?
Below are from the HELP section.
HTML Editor Standard - Provides more editing functionality, such as font, format and color, than HTML Editor Minimal.
Text Area with HTML Editor - Provides basic text formatting controls. Note that these controls may not work in all Web browsers.
Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks. I went to the item area and did not see it after selecting 'Text area'
Only these items which do not have the cool editing features.
Textarea
Textarea (auto-height)
Textarea with Character Counter
Textarea with Character Counter & Spellcheck
Textarea with Spell Checker
HTML Editor Minimal
HTML Editor Standard
Textarea with HTML Editor (deprecated)

• Xml form HTML Editor control change.

Hi,
Is it possible to change External weblink control property of HTML Editor used in xml form builder.?
As of now this control gives 2 options to provide external weblink (1.Open in active window ,2.open in new window).I want to add open in same window as top.
Can anyone give some useful information ?
Thanks and Regards,
Jack.
Note: Points will be awarded for useful answers.

Hi jack men,
If you are still interested in a solution to your problem...
We just hit upon the same problem. I found out that XMLForms reference htmledit4.js in their <XMLForm-Name>Edit.xsl, so you have to adapt that one.
I saved htmledit4.js and renamed it to htmledit5.js so that I can change the HTMLEditor settings only for my XMLForm (and not for e.g. SAPNewsForm).
I changed the entry in my XML-Form Editor settings XSL to reference the new JavaScript file:
<xsl:value-of select="$xmlformsroot"/>/htmledit/htmledit5.js</xsl:if>
Then I copied the method body of htmledit3.js (the standard htmleditor JavaScript file) to htmledit5.js and adapted it to just show the two tragets of <i>self</i> and <i>top</i>.
The method to display link properties is: <b>htmlb_hed_makeWebLinkDialog</b>
Find this method in both files. Then find in htmledit3.js the beginning of the target window selection-box:
sSizerHtml += "<SELECT id=htmlb_hed_link_launch_mode class=\"urDdlWhlSml\">";
the following lines of code determine the selectable values.
You will notice that htmledit4.js misses a few entries. Just copy all or the ones you need.
For your convenience I show my code here:
sSizerHtml += "<td>";
      sSizerHtml += "<span style=\"font-size:1em;\">";
      sSizerHtml += "<SELECT id=htmlb_hed_link_launch_mode class=\"urDdlWhlSml\">";
//-- target=_blank
      sSizerHtml += "<OPTION value=\"_blank\" ";
      if(modOpenMode==1) sSizerHtml += "selected";
      sSizerHtml += ">";
      sSizerHtml += txtMap["TXT_HTMLB_HED_BLANK"];
      sSizerHtml += "</OPTION>";
//-- target=_parent --
      sSizerHtml += "<OPTION value=\"_parent\" ";
      if(modOpenMode==2) sSizerHtml += "selected";
      sSizerHtml += ">";
      sSizerHtml += txtMap["TXT_HTMLB_HED_PARENT"];
      sSizerHtml += "</OPTION>";
//-- target=_search--
      sSizerHtml += "<OPTION value=\"_search\" ";
      if(modOpenMode==3) sSizerHtml += "selected";
      sSizerHtml += ">";
      sSizerHtml += txtMap["TXT_HTMLB_HED_SEARCH"];
      sSizerHtml += "</OPTION>";
//--target=_self
      sSizerHtml += "<OPTION value=\"_self\" ";
      if(modOpenMode==4) sSizerHtml += "selected";
      sSizerHtml += ">";
      sSizerHtml += txtMap["TXT_HTMLB_HED_SELF"];
      sSizerHtml += "</OPTION>";
//-- target=_top
      sSizerHtml += "<OPTION value=\"_top\" ";
      if(modOpenMode==5) sSizerHtml += "selected";
      sSizerHtml += ">";
      sSizerHtml += txtMap["TXT_HTMLB_HED_TOP"];
      sSizerHtml += "</OPTION></SELECT></span>";
      sSizerHtml += "</td>";
      sSizerHtml += "</tr>";
I didn't check yet if a new generation of the XMLForms Project in the XMLFormsBuilder overwrites the changes in the XMLFormsEdit.xsl, however I guess so. A better way would be to adjust the JavaScript reference in some other configuration file that I haven't found yet, until then just adapt the XSL everytime...
If Carsten Buechert contacted you regarding the exchange of the whole control, I would be interested myself as well.
Cheers

• Change or replace KM HTML Editor

Hi again,
I would like to customize the KM HTML Editor or replace it with another Editor.
Has anyone done that before?
If so, I'd like to know how to achieve that!
I know this might be very complicated, but I appreciate every little hint!
Best regards, Marko

I figured it out myself, under System Administration - System Configuration - Knowledge Management - Content Management
Utilities - Editing - HTML Editing
There are these options:
Always Use Secure HTML Editor
Allow Only Basic Formatting
Allow Links
Activate Clipboard Buttons
Allow Preview
Allow Indenting
Allow Tables
Allow Bullets and Numbering
Allow Images
Allow Text Size and Font Settings
Allow Color Settings
On Dev we had all options ticked so for us that meant 'Allow Only Basic Formatting' was giving limited icons on the HTML Editor toolbar. It is worth noting that if 'Always Use Secure HTML Editor' is not ticked then the other options dont do anything, it is all based around this first option.

• Default HTML editor set through group policy

OK, this should be an easy one.  I know where I can find the setting to change the default HTML editor though group policy for IE10.  Do I need to have Microsoft Office installed on the server if I want to set it as Word?  The only option
I have right now is Notepad and Office is not installed on the server that I created GPOs.  Thank you!

Hi Erin,
>> Do I need to have Microsoft Office installed on the server if I want to set it as Word?
Based on my knowledge, we need to install Office on the server to do this. Besides, when we use Group Policy Preferences, please pay attention to F5-F8 function keys.
Regarding this point, the following article can be referred to for more information.
Enable and Disable Settings in a Preference Item
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754299.aspx
In addition, if we don't want to install Office on the server, we can try to configure the setting on a Windows 8/8.1 with both RSAT and Word installed or a member server 2012/R2 with GPMC and Word installed.

• How to edit news from DW side, html editor?

Anybody know how to edit the news fro the DW side, html editor?

Hi Liam,
Thanks for the quick respond.
No, I don't mean news template which you can import to your desktop along
with entire site.
Imean the content,
since it's an html page i wish to import it to my desktop along with my
site, edit the comtent via DW on my desktop, simply because I like to use
the DW html editor localy and then update the BC server With "put" (on
right pane) dream weaver editor, just like youwould do with any html page.
I understand that in order to push live it have to be done from BC, server
side, but this discussion is all about editing the html news page, not the
news template, and not pushing it live. only editing it via DW editor on
your local site.
You did not understand my question, please allow me to try asking again.

• How could I edit correctly my bullets in my html editor

I try to manage bullets in a simple HTML Editor.
To do that, I used two differents methods but they both failed.
When I look at the generated source code, my tags correcty exist but in the HTMLDocument, I can't see the text well formatted.
Is anybody could help me?
Thanks a lot
Here is the two methods I chose:
The first one was:
MutableAttributeSet attr = new SimpleAttributeSet();
attr.addAttribute(StyleConstants.NameAttribute, style);
int xStart = m_HTMLEditor.getSelectionStart();
int xFinish = m_HTMLEditor.getSelectionEnd();
m_doc.setParagraphAttributes(xStart, xFinish - xStart, attr, false);
And the second one was:
try{
         MutableAttributeSet attr = new SimpleAttributeSet();
         attr.addAttribute(StyleConstants.NameAttribute, HTML.Tag.LI);
         m_doc.insertString(m_HTMLEditor.getSelectionStart(), m_HTMLEditor.getSelectedText(), attr);
catch(Exception ex) {                         IdeMessageManagerAccess.printMessage(IdeMessageType.INFORMATION, "An exception occured during the inserting bullet");
}

Hi,
implementing list formatting for HTMLDocuments is complex. To format an arbirtrary text portion as list, <ul> or <ol> and <li> tags have to be added to respective text.
As one can not predict if a selected text portion has already list formatting or contains a mixture of list and plain text formatting, there are a lot of cases to implement.
My proposal is to just copy a working implementation as it is present in application SimplyHTML at http://www.lightdev.com/template.php4?id=3

Tried several times to reinstall along with Ver .2, to no avail.
Any ideas....thanks!

I wonder if you are going about the uninstall correctly.
When you see 7.0.3 you might think you are uninstalling the full product. You are only uninstalling that patch. Click Refresh or press F5 and you will see 7.0.2 waiting to be uninstalled, after that Refresh shows 7.0.1 and finally the original install.
If you did not do it that way, try again and hopfully on reinstalling, all will be OK. If you have fixed it some other way, it would help if you posted that here.

Code errors are responsible for 98% of rendering problems.  Your pages lack a valid doc type declaration which puts them into quirks mode.
On line #1 in code view, change this:
         <html>
to this:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html>
At least that will give you a fighting chance of validating without errors.  Use the online code validator below to check for other errors in all your site pages.
         http://validator.w3.org/
Incidentally, asking a non-coder to use Dreamweaver is form of punishment.   Basic coding skills are necessary to get the most out of this product.   Anything less is going to result in frustration and confusion.
It's worth noting that DW is NOT a WYSIWYG editor.  Design View is at best, an approximation of what you can expect to see in some browsers.  For best results, use Live View in Split View and edit the code.

• Problem in Online Editing

Hi Team,
I have created one html file in the local system and uploaded in to KM. And i tried editing the file online, but i got the below error.
System Error
An Exception Occurred during the program Execution.
Go back and try again.
But in my view there two possibilities this error could have occurred.
1) file is created in the local system, and uploaded to portal
2) That html file is not properly created with html tags ( But it opens when i open the html file in IE).
so, i found one document in help.sap.com (You can only use the HTML editor to edit HTML files that you created online. If you edit an HTML file locally, you will not be able to edit it with the HTML editor later on(From help.sap.com - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/e6/62f8cb7afd764e9600360257202bc1/frameset.htm )
But, after i created the file using HTML Editor in portal, if i try to edit the document locally, then i saved it, after i opens the same document in Online Editing it works fine.
Can any one help, what exactly the problem in editing online and how we can overcome this issue.
Thanks
Best Regards,
Manoj K

Hello Manoj,
I tried the same process of creating file at local system and uploading it in KM documents. When I tried editing that file, I didnt get the error, instead I got the following message.
This HTML file can contain HTML features that the HTML Editor does not support. You may consider editing the source using the Text Editor instead in order to avoid unintended changes that the HTML Editor might cause.
and below the message there were two buttons, HTML editor and Text editor, for editing the document.
It might be because the HTML document created locally are not supported by HTML editor.
you can also check the following link for Mimetype supported in online editing at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a6/181b09bcc7fe4389c8c17d2ad849cc/content.htm
Hope this information is of some use.
PS: HTML file was created using notepad and saved as "test.html".
