Customize Keyboard Shortcuts in Photoshop Elements 9?

Hello, where is the customize keyboard shortcuts dialog? I bought an app for my iPod Touch that uses a .kys file to map the commands to the computer, and I could not find a way to change the keyboard shortcuts.

I've never seen the dialog in a shipping version of elements, but here's one way.
1. Make a copy of the .kys file and then change the name and extension to:
    Keyboard Shortcuts.psp
2. Copy the renamed file into the pse9 settings folder.
    Example for windows vista:
    C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\9.0\Editor
    Example for mac:
   Users/[Username]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.0 Settings
Copy the renamed file into the editor/settings folder and start or restart pse9.

Can't use the keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop CS6 when updating Mavericks

Thanks everyone. What worked for me was a version of the suggestions above. I had the problem with the ≠ character appearing in all my Photoshop CS6 keyboard shortcuts and rendering them largely unusable. However, I don't have any other keyboards besides US English enabled on my Mac. I do have Spell Catcher installed, which works through the keyboard input method. So, I switched from Spell Catcher back to English (with the US flag), launched Photoshop and presto, my keyboard shortcuts were restored, absent that obnoxious ≠ symbol. Once in Photoshop, if I reselect Spell Catcher, the ≠ symbol returns so I have to run Photoshop without the help of Spell Catcher - or forego the use of keyboard shortcuts while it's on. Since the developer of Spell Catcher passed away last year there will be no more updates to the otherwise very useful utility. Apparently this keyboard shortcut problem in the various guises reported here is linked to some element of the OS X input method in Mavericks, as Photoshop seems to manifest the issue in relation to one specific input source or another. This is the first application in my experience to have a problem with Spell Catcher in OS X 10.9. So I will continue to use it, except in Photoshop. Spell Catcher was never updated for Mountain Lion or Mavericks so people like me will have to use it "at our own risk" as the saying goes. Be that as it may, it does appear to be a bug in Photoshop that's at the root of this matter as different people have somewhat different problems with the OS X input method - not that I expect either Adobe or Apple to do anything about it.

  • Defining keyboard shortcut in Photoshop CC not working (OSX)

    Hi,
I face a strange problem when trying to redefine a keyboard shortcut on Photoshop CC or CS6 on an IMac 2013 running the latest version od OSX.
    a --> A
    ù --> Ù
Every time I type a key it's the uppercase version of the letter that is taken.
If I go for example on Text tool to put some text in images it's ok.
It only happens in the dialog box to define keyboard shortcut.
Note that same version od CC and CS6 works correctly on my macbook Air running also the latest OSX.
Any idea where the problem could come or been solved ?

Turn off the ALL CAPS option in the character palette that you forgot about turning on...

  • Is there a way to customize keyboard shortcuts in applications?

Some applications allow keyboard shortcuts to be customized, usually in preferences, but I'm wondering if there's a way to customize keyboard shortcuts in apps that don't have this feature built in.

from Apple's OS X Help Menu:
    Create keyboard shortcuts for apps
Assign your own keyboard shortcuts to menu commands in any OS X app, including Finder. This might be useful if a global shortcut, which works the same with most apps, conflicts with a specific app shortcut. In this case, you could assign a different key combination.
You can only create keyboard shortcuts for existing menu commands. You  cannot create keyboard shortcuts for general purpose tasks such as opening an app.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Keyboard.
    Open Keyboard preferences for me
Click Shortcuts, select App Shortcuts, then click Add (+).
Click the Application pop-up menu, then choose an app. If you want to set the same key combination for a menu command that appears in many apps, choose All Applications.
If the app you want to select doesn’t appear in the list, choose Other, then locate it using the Open dialog. Some apps may not allow you to set keyboard shortcuts.
Type the menu command for which you want to set a keyboard shortcut in the Menu Title field.
You must type the command exactly as it appears in the Application menu, including ellipses and any other punctuation. To type an ellipsis, use three periods without spaces.
Click in the Keyboard Shortcut field, press the key combination that you want to assign to the menu command, then click Add (+).
You can’t use each type of key (for example, a letter key) more than once in a key combination.
Quit and restart any apps you’re using for the new keyboard shortcut to take effect.
If you assign a keyboard shortcut that already exists for another command or another app, your new shortcut won’t work. Find the menu command that’s using it, then reassign the keyboard shortcut for that item.
To remove a customized shortcut, click Delete (–).

  • Customize Keyboard Shortcuts

Using a Mac OS 10.6.8 with Acrobat X Pro.
Is it possible to cutomize the keyboard shortcuts for Acrobat? I want, for instance, to set up a quick key to Accept a Comment.
    Marc

You cannot customize keyboard shortcuts for Acrobat.
It should be possible to set up a custom toolbar button or menu item that sets the status of the selected comment. I haven't actually done this, but it looks like all the pieces are in place. If you made it a custom menu item, you'd be be able to access it throught the keyboard. A custom toolbar button would make it one click instead two plus the menu traversing as it currently is.
You can do the same type of thing for anything that can be implemented with JavaScript.

  • Importing / Transferring Keyboard Shortcuts into Photoshop CS5

Hello, i am testing out Photoshop 5 and it looks good so far, yet some obstacles are left to solve. For example i wonder how to get the keyboard shortcuts from my old Photoshop (the .kys file) into the PS5? There is no import. I would even manually transfer, but opening the file in a texteditor just shows weird stuff (there was a guy who manually transfered his indesign shortcuts in such a way, but since he used a normal text editor i guess these files are of a different structure)
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2881861#2881861
if anyone knows how to transfer them or has an idea how to manually workaround, i am happy for hints.
    thanks
    Sofian

It depends on which windows system you have, but for vista and windows 7, probably the best
place to put the kys file is:
    C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Presets\Keyboard Shortcuts
    Added:
    Windows XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Presets\Keyboard Shortcuts

  • BUG: Changing text colours within a text block: Keyboard shortcuts problem (Photoshop CS5)

In earlier versions of Photoshop, I could double click a Paragraph Text to edit it, then select individual words and change their colours using the Ctrl+Backspace and Alt-Backspace keyboard shortcuts (to change them to either Background or Foreground colours).
In PhotoShop CS5, Alt+Backspace is OK, but Ctrl-Backspace deletes the highlighted word! Not good. I believe this is a bug, can it be fixed to revert to the old behaviour?
    (Photoshop CS5 Extended x64 on Windows 7 x64)

I fully understand what you're saying, and while I'm all for compatibility, user interface change cannot be accomplished without, well, change.
Imagine, for example, that thousands of people could have reported that they couldn't delete the prior word with Ctrl-Backspace while using the T tool in Photoshop, while they could with every other application on their systems.  Imagine that none of the users like you reported that they were happy with things the way they already are.
Perhaps the best approach in a situation like this would have been for Adobe to add a configuration option somewhere to allow individual users to make the choice.  But EVEN THEN there's a push from the Marketing types to simplify the number of choices given to customers, probably because doing so reduces support costs (imagine, for example, someone brainlessly setting it to your flavor of Ctrl-Backspace, then calling support to complain that they can't delete the prior word as they have always been able to do).  There are a lot of requests on this forum that read like "I must have changed a setting somewhere, but I'll be darned if I can find it."
Microsoft and Adobe have both moved lately in this direction (reducing choices and configurability), reportedly to "reduce the cognitive load" on presumably ever less intelligent users, with ill effects in many cases.  Unfortunately, "you can have it any way you like so long as it's our way" seems to be the way of the future.

  • Import keyboard shortcuts to photoshop cc 2014

I can't get my keyboard shortcuts to import to Photoshop CC 2014.  I've tried several different ways, lastly exporting them from CC and then importing them in CC 2014 and each time is says it is successful but none of my keyboard shortcuts or brushes appear

If you modified keys in CC did you save them.  If in CC you use menu Edit Keyboard Shortcuts. and Use the pull-down to select Photoshop Default keys and the current key have not been saved you will get an option to save them. Save the keys to a meaningful name.  You should the I believe you will be able to migrate you preset from CC to CC 2014 and will be able to get them in CC 2014.
    "C:\Users\your User Id\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Presets\Keyboard Shortcuts"

  • How to customize keyboard shortcuts (Swedish keyboard)

I don't know how dangerous this is, but I have just customized two keyboard shortcuts in LR2 for use with a Swedish keyboard.
I did not invent this, I was taught by someone else on this forum, I'm sorry I don't remember who.
What I did was create a file called TranslatedStrings.txt in the folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2\Resources\en\
The content of this file is:
    "$$$/AgDevelop/Menu/View/ZoomIn=Zoom In"
    "$$$/AgDevelop/Menu/View/ZoomIn/Key=Cmd+."
    "$$$/AgDevelop/Menu/View/ZoomInMinor=Slow Zoom In"
    "$$$/AgDevelop/Menu/View/ZoomInMinor/Key=Cmd+Option+."
    "$$$/AgLibrary/Menu/View/ShowFilterBar=Show Filter Bar"
    "$$$/AgLibrary/Menu/View/ShowFilterBar/Key=Cmd+Shift+."
    "$$$/AgLibrary/Help/Shortcuts/HideShowFilterBar=Show/Hide Library Filter Bar"
    "$$$/AgLibrary/Help/Shortcuts/HideShowFilterBarKey=Cmd+Shift+."
This makes Ctrl+. zoom in on pictures and Ctrl+Shift+. toggle between showing and hiding the library filter bar.
So far it seems to function. This copies the way LR is translated to French and German. But I would very much like some input from Adobe on what can be done without danger. Maybe also a list of all shortcuts so we could do this ourselves without compromising anything.

    Minor correction:
    I believe it should be:
    "$$$/AgDevelop/Menu/View/BeforeAfter/Before=&Before Only"
    "$$$/AgDevelop/Menu/View/BeforeAfter/Before/Key=<"
The character "&" after "=" on line 1. But it seems to function like you wrote it too.
I tried changeing "&Before only" into "&Före enbart", which translated the menu into Swedish, but the letter ö looked strange.

  • Customize keyboard shortcuts to services (you created)

I created a service with automator... I just want to assign a keyboard shortcut to it. How do I do that!?
Once I create the service it shows up in [keyboard > keyboard shortcuts > Services > General] with no shortcut assigned to it... there is no option to assign a shortcut to it, double clicking it does nothing. There's no button to edit or anything. Am I missing something?
    10.6.8

...there is no option to assign a shortcut to it, double clicking it does nothing
Actualy there is.  Double click to the far right of it.
Now you can enter the key combination to be assigned to that sevice.

  • Is there any way to make 'stroke path' a keyboard shortcut in photoshop cs6?

because it would make things easier.
It's a right click command when using the pen tool and instead of doing that every. single. time...
it would be easier to just make a keyboard short cut but im not sure how to assign shortcuts to right click commands. is this possible?

Thank you so much for this info. I jumped online to see if I could stroke path without the confirmation box coming up every time this does help but having to make the path with pen tool, then switch to brush with B then hit enter to stroke, then back to pen with P. Guess its about as good as I will get. I have two buttons on my intous 3 pen. i had one for stroke path and one for delete path, but it was asking to to confirm pen pressure every time. Thanks very much!!

  • Keyboard shortcut in photoshop giving dual command

    Hey All,
Using the new alum. wireless k-board. Seems to work great except one bug. In Photoshop, a common used keyboard command of commandoption0 for a full size view of a image is not only enlarging the image to full size (as it should) but is also giving a 'nudge' command. If you have more than one layer created on a image, it will nudge the selected layer one pixel, often without you knowing and really screw you up affter you have continued to work on you image.
My apple wired keyboard does not do this. Is it a keyboard bug, or some mapping going on?
    thanks,

Turn off the ALL CAPS option in the character palette that you forgot about turning on...
