Customize local folder for edit locally

Hi Experts,
I am running EP 6.0 SPS 17 with KMC on system i. We are running Active Directory in the company. We have a problem with users when doing 'edit locally', since they are defined as 'user'. They don't have permission in any of the folder on the local PC, except 'c:\temp'. When doing 'edit locally', the file is downloaded into 'C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\.......' which is prohibited.
Do you know the place to customize the destination folder for 'edit locally', so we can place the downloaded file into 'c:\temp' instead?
Thanks before.
Best regards,
Agoes

Hi Agoes Boedi,
You can force KM to save the temporary files to c:\temp by creating a new user specific system variable (under environment variables) with the name "SAPKM_USER_TEMP" (and the path "c:\temp).
You need to close all browser sessions and start a new one after creating the new user specific system variable.
Hope this helps,
Robert

  • Finder resets itself to default local folder when I delete a folder from a server. How can I stop this?

    Hello there,
At work I use a Mac Pro (like this one: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_pro/specs/mac-pro-quad-core-2.8-2008-s pecs.html)... and I have a very weird problem that is really annoying.
I don't have the information (but I can get it tomorrow) on the operating system or any information of the server I am having the issues with. But I was hoping maybe some one else with the same issue might have the answer without all of that information.
We use the server to access, open, edit, save, delete, move, etc... all of the files we are currently working on.  No files are ever transfered to our local computer's hardrive and then copied back to the server (don't ask me why, and don't tell me to do that, this is how it's done in the office, and this is what I have to do)...
The issue is this.  When I have to delete a folder from the server, which is usually a folder within a folder, and maybe within another folder, and another, and another (meaning it takes me time to look for this), the Finder deltes the folder (and asks if I am sure I  want to delete it, because it will be deleted forever since I am deleting it from the server)... and when I say yes, the Finder window that I am currently on (the folder which contains the folder that I am deleting) reverts back to the initial "device-folder" for my local mac pro... meaning the folder which is the main folder of that mac pro, where I can see the mac pro's hard drive, any external hardrives, any usb pen drives, any cds, etc...
So EVERY TIME I delete a folder on the server, which is more than 30 times a day, I get "kicked out" of the foler which contains the folder to be deleted, and gows back to tha "main" folder of my computer, so I have to go back to the server, back to the folder, and sometimes it is a folder, within a folder, within a folder, etc, etc, etc, ... and don't tell me the solution is to create a shortcut on my sidebar for that folder, because the folders are the jobs that I may be working on that day, so I could work on as many as 30 different folders per day, and I do have those in my sidebar, but it is still pretty annoying to have to go back to that folder.
One thing I noticed... SOMETIMES, not all the times... IF I delete two folders instead of one, it won't do it... or IF I drag the folder to the trash, instead of clicking on my "delete" icon on my finder's toolbar, it won't do it... but this is only SOMETIMES. So these are not the solutions either.
I can try to get a screen cap tomorrow of the issue, but if anyone has this same issue and knows how to fix it, plese let me know.
I will also try to get more info on my computers OS and the server.
    Thank you,
    MW

Hi PCM1, if i understand well the problem you have is when you click on a URL in a pdf file, the link opens in IE ? Have you checked in the default programs panel to see if all was well set ?

  • DW8 grabs remote file when I try to edit local file

DW8 acts like it was programmed this way, but it is not
correct behavior. Perhaps someone can shed some light on this for
    me.
I have the local website on a mapped network drive to a
different server, and the remote (live) site is on another server
only accessible via FTP. When I have the Files View drop-down set
to Local View and the [Connects to remote host] button is NOT
depressed, I should be able to double-click an .htm file and have
it open up for editing. So, I do that and it then asks if I want to
Get Dependent Files. I always say NO to this question. When the
file opens, for some reason it has grabbed the REMOTE version from
the live server (via FTP, I assume) without telling me it is doing
that, and it has overwritten the local copy of the file. This is
bad because other people in the office use different web editors,
and they did work on that file prior to me trashing it....rats!!!
WHY is DW8 grabbing the remote file for editing when I don't
want it to? I want to edit the dang LOCAL file like I expect!! What
am I doing wrong? Or is DW8 doing it wrong, and everyone in the
world just expects it to be that way? How can I edit ONLY the local
version of a file that exists on the remote server? I found that if
the file is NOT on the remote server, then it simply opens the
local file for editing as usual. I do not remember MX2004 acting
this way because I never had that problem prior to my DW8 upgrade.
Perhaps a clue is the dialog box that pops up asking if I
want to "get dependent files"...the word GET is suspicious to
    me....
    HELP!!!! TIA!

CI/CO uses the remote site as the resource for files, not the
    local site.
    The scheme is -
    1. You check out from the remote site
    2. You edit and save intermediate steps locally
    3. When editing is finished, you check in to the remote site
This way, nobody can GET a file that you have already checked
    out until you
    check it back in.
When you double click a local file in the File manager, if
    that file is NOT
checked out to you, it will be checked out to you FROM THE
    REMOTE site. If
it is checked out to you, it will open from your local site.
    > That action
    > doesn't make sense.
    Unfortunately, it makes complete sense.
Read your help files on CI/CO again....

  • Improper message in iview when "Check in Now " fails in edit locally

    Hi
We have implemented our own repository manager. I am facing a problem while Checking in a document after edit locally.
Usually edit locally undergo followings set of activities.
    1.     Get the content of file using Content manager implementation and open that using appropriate application.(say a txt file in note pad)
    2.     Then user can edit the file and save it.(it goes to temp directory)
    3.     Three buttons appear in the iview (Check in now ,Check in later,Cancel editing)
    4.     If user choose “Check in now “option .It should  save the file in backend, which involves following steps
    i.     Lock the resource
    ii.     Set content and Save
    iii.     Unlock
If any one of this 3 step fails while Check in Now it should display an appropriate message in iview stating the reason of failure.
So when a user without having Lock permission tries to perform a “Check in Now”, the first step fails (i).and it throws a exception which is wrapped as a ResourceException. In fact the same error message is getting written to the log4j files  and it doesn’t proceed with any  backend operation.
But I am getting a message “File "dmadmindoc.txt" has been checked in”.
Where as file has not been checked in .Means application logic works fine, but error message wrapped doesn’t get reflected to end user.
Can any body suggest overriding this message?
    Regards
    Arati

    Hi Siva,
Please double-check the prerequisites at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/3b/cbf52dde472343a5b8941dd43cc479/frameset.htm - for example, that you are not in "Personal Documents". Also keep in mind that you might need to restart the server if you have switched on the application properties service at runtime.
If all this doesn't help, open an OSS message.
    Hope it helps

  • Additional local currencies for company code

We are using company code currency INR -The clients wants additional currency USD as 2nd local currency--In OB22 the

    valuation 1 group valuation
    exchange rate type: m
CO is active for this company code-
how to enter USD as 2nd local currency
    regards
    joseph

    Hello  Joseph,
Currency & valuation are considered as life blood of ERP systems as such those should be managed intelligently right from the day 1.
Additional currencies cannot be activated once the company code is live!
One needs to evaluate various options available, depending upon your requirements and system & solution landscape.
However due to hugh impact of such changes, it would be better to take the help of SAP SLO services.

  • HT4191 iPhone Local Storage "My iPhone" - How do you create this folder for use by the Notes app on a iPhone or iPad?  If I want to keep some notes only on my device and not in a cloud environment associated with an e-mail account.

iPhone Local Storage "My iPhone" - How do you create this folder for use by the Notes app on a iPhone or iPad?  If I want to keep some notes only on my device and not in a cloud environment associated with an e-mail account.  I've seen reference to the  "My iPhone" local storage put no mention on how you create this folder or access this folder within the Notes app.  I realize storing information in a local storage like this provides no syncing between other iDevices but that is exactly what I'm looking for.  I'm running iOS7.0.4 on a iPhone 5S, and a iPad Air.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you go to Settings > Notes > Default Account you will see "On My iPhone" as the default account and the only choice if you have not enabled syncing Notes in Settings >iCloud or Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. If you have enabled syncing you can still select "On My iPhone" as the default account. When you are in the Notes app you won't see any accounts listed if you have not enabled syncing because they are all in the On My iPhone account and that is the only place possible. It is not a folder that you create.

  • "Edit Locally" for Repository having "Read only" rights

    hi,
        I am on EP6.0 SP9.
    When I go to
Content Administrator --> KM Content --> Repository(having "Read Only" rights),  and click on "Context Menu" an option "Edit Locally" come there. But as the repository has "Read only" rights, I need to disable that option.
Is there any way to do that?

  • How to install packages from local folder

    Hi all,
I have downloaded all arch linux packages from the following URLs:
    ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/core/os/i686/
    ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/extra/os/i686/
    ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/community/os/i686/
and then have saved them to an external hard disk. Then I have attached that external hard disk to my system and packages are available in following folders:
    /mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Core-OS/
    /mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Extra-OS-1/
    /mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Extra-OS-2/
    /mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Community-OS-1/
    /mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Community-OS-2/
    /mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Community-OS-3/
Now I want to install some or all packages from these folder with the help of pacman command. I am seeing that package corresponding to wvdial command is available in the /mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Extra-OS-1/ folder. But how to use pacman command so that I can install wvdial package from that folder?
In addition to this if I want to install ALL Extra Packages available in the folders /mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Extra-OS-1/ and /mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Extra-OS-2/ then how to execute the pacman command?
Please send me step by step instructions so that I shall be able to install some or all downloaded packages.
I shall remain thankful for this forever.
    Best Regards ...

    Hi fukawi2,
Thanks for reply and searching for my username on google. It is true that I am a freelance s/w developer but I am not installing Arch Linux for any client. I am installing it due to some other reasons. In fact I started working on Red Hat and then on Fedora when I was a student of bachelor degree course in computer applications. Then later I searched open suse and started using it. I am using open suse from its 10.1 version. However the recent version of this distribution has become much resource consuming. So I am in the need of a light weight linux distribution. And I encountered Arch Linux. Then I purchased its installation disk from an online shop and installed it on my system. But only text mode is working at this moment. Since I want to use X window and so I started to follow the syntax of pacman command. But it is connecting to internet. Since my internet connection is slow (average speed of 10kbps) and so I requested the same online shop to download all packages from Arch Linux repository and send them to me. Therefore now I am having all those packages in my local external hard disk drive in the folder mentioned in my first post. Now I want to install packages from these folder. And so in order to get help I have come to this forum.
I have also followed the steps given on the pages https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pa … l_commands and https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pa … repository. But when I am trying to install a particular package using the following command:
    pacman -U wvdial
then it is asking for a dependency. I know that  the dependent package in my local folder but why it is not being automatically taken by pacman command? Can you please explain it.
That is why I am asking help only for customization and usages of pacman in order to install packages from local folder. But each member in this forum is only referring to long written manuals and not giving me exact solution which I think will involve four/five steps.
    Best Regards ...

  • How do you return to the thunderbird main window in linux when it opens in a local folder?

I can find no option to return to the main window of Thunderbird 31.1.1 under Fedora 20. It always opens in the same local folder (the only tab displayed under "File Edit View .. " menu bar) that I was reading before yesterday's "logoff.". I tried restarting the computer. Help would be appreciated.

I think you aren't seeing the account folders pane.
On the menu, '''View|Layout''' and check ''Folder Pane''.
If you don't have a menu, hold down <alt> then tap l (lower case L).
The folder pane shows your accounts and their folders, and is, IMHO, essential for navigating around in Thunderbird.

  • Collaboration Room  - Edit Locally Cache Issue

    Hello,
We have a situation where 2 users try to edit word file locally. For one user (A) everything works fine. The changes are uploaded and can be seen after Check In is done. For the other user (B), the changes are visible when he clicks on the file, but if he tries to edit the file again, it does not show the changes. If the user (B) logs off and closes the browser, and then logs back in, he can see his changes if he tries to edit the file. If the user (B) logs in through user (A) machine everything works as it should.
We compared browser setting for both users and they are identical. We especially compared cache setting, but it is the same. There seems to be PC/browser setting somewhere, but I can not figure out what it is. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hi Alex,
we have the some problem. The problem is even reproducible with one user. We reported that bug to SAP.
This is our way to reproduce the problem:
    01. open IE
    02. point it to http://HOSTNAME:PORT/irj/go/km/navigation/documents/FOLDER
    03. login
    04. "edit locally" for the already uploaded .doc
    05. Word opens and I add a new line to the doc
    06. Switch KM window
    07. Hit "Check in now"
    08. Switch to Word and closing it
    09. Switch to IE and click on the docs title to open Word. Word shows me the last change.
    10. Closing word again
    11. "edit locally" and my last changes, which I saw when clicking the title are gone.
    12. Closing Word and selecting "Cancel Local Editing" in the km window and closing IE.
    13. repeating steps 01 to 04: (open IE, call URL, login, edit locally for that doc)
    14. changes are in that document
I we here something from SAP, I'll post it.

  • Editing Local Dynamic Pages - How To?

I figure this should be something simple but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. In the past I believe this is something I was able to do in DW.
I've set up my website locally running off my local server and everything there seems to be working in DW. I can view the live page and live code. However, I can't view the live page and edit that page.
Does anyone have any recommendation on how I can best add some code into a dynamic page? I'm running CS5. Here's a screenshot of an example. Let's say I wanted to insert some simple code where the arrrow is.
I really need some help on this as it's something I was under the impression I could do. Thanks for any help you can give.

When I turn off Live Code and leave Live View on the code displayed is just of index.php (no matter what live page I'm on). So I can't really edit anything.
That's right.  Those files contain nothing to edit.  It's all just PHP programming that the server parses into content from the database and countless other files (server-side includes).
A WordPress site really is a one page site -- index.php.  That page is re-created on the fly each time someone clicks a link or uses the search bar.
If you have worked with WordPress before, you should know you cannot edit dynamic pages in DW.  You can only edit the parts that make up those pages.  Those parts are inside your Themes folder.
    header.php
    sidebar.php
    footer.php
    index.php
    single.php
    page.php
    archive.php
    category.php
    tag.php
    etc...
Design View is pretty much useless.  You must be able to work with code.

  • Local admin rights when Edit locally

    Hello, all!
We have the same problem as in
Local Admin rights to "Edit Locally" ?
"The end users do not have administrator rights on their local PCs , they logon to the domain server with restricted rights. When it comes to portal, when trying to edit a document with "Edit locally" it is not possible to do is even if the user has all the rights for the document in the Portal KM configuration. When we make the user local admin, everything is OK"
We are on SPS14, Windows XP SP2. Domain users can run corresponding applications and can create dirs or files in a temp directory. We also utilize env. variable SAPKM_USER_TEMP but with no success.
Could yoã please suggest, how to find rights needed to execute Local Edit. Are there any way to trace this Docservice ActiveX?

    Hello Roman,
here a note which describes a solution for a user account wuth restricted rights:
The Edit Locally activex will be installed based on following
    installation steps:
The browser will recognize that the KM DocService activex has to be
    started.
In case of the activex isn't installed on the the PC, it will be
downloaded from the KM server (...etc/docservice/docservice.cab)
The browser will extract two DLLs from the docservice.cab file
(docservice.dll and sapkmprogressplayer.dll) and register them on the
local PC. To see if the installation succeed you can open within the
browser following dialog: Tools/Internet Options/Settings/View Objects,
look for program file SAP KM DocService Control.
Registry keys in following areas will be created:
    Area HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT:
    HKCR\AppID\{5F8983A6-347C-46B9-BA7A-1B87E5DAE0BC}
    HKCR\ProgressPlayerMod.ProgressPlayer
    HKCR\ProgressPlayerMod.ProgressPlayer.1
    HKCR\CLSID
    HKCR\TypeLib
    Area HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE:
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ModuleUsage\C:/WINNT/Down
    Downloaded Program Files/DocService.dll
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution Units\
When finishing these steps successfully the installed version can be
located within the browser dialog Tools/Internet Options/Settings/View
Objects SAP KM DocService Control and den KM DocService will
start loading the document content from the KM server and starting the
    corresponding application for editing.
    Installation with restricted user accounts:
With restricted user accounts e.g. no access rights to create registry keys in the area of HKCR or HKLM etc., which lets the described installation fail, following installation procedure leads to success:
Register the needed DLLs manually on the PC (e.g. via a shell command script) with a user account having enough access rights.
1.1 Create an installation folder (don't use /windows/system32) on the PC and copy the DLLs (docservice.dll and sapkmprogressplayer.dll) to it (extract them from docservice.cab with a tool e.g. winzip).
1.2 Open a command shell on this installation folder.
1.3 Unregister possible existing versions with the following command:
    "regsvr32 docservice.dll /U " and "regsvr32 sapkmprogressplayer.dll /U "
    1.4 Register the both DLLs with: "regsvr32 docservice.dll" and "regsvr32 sapkmprogressplayer.dll "
1.5 If the two registration steps fail check the permissions to write
    into the system registry.
1.6 The installation folder do not need special permissions, the linkage to the DLLs will be done via the system registry.
1.7 Additionally the following setting is mandatory to succeed the installation:
Disable the "ActiveX Version Check" function within the KM Configuration
    SystemAdministration->SystemConfig->KnowledgeManagement->
->Configuration->ContentManagement->Utilities->Editing->LocalEditing-> ActiveX Version Check (Uncheck the checkbox)
    Setting a different TEMP directory:
In cases that it is problematic to use the standard %TEMP% directory, setting the environment variable SAPKM_USER_TEMP pinpointing to a corresponding directory path (e.g. X:\SHARES\USERS\xxx\CheckedOutDocuments) will be also supported. If the access to that directory fails the standard %TEMP% directory will be used as fallback.
    Hope this helps,
    Michael

    Hi,
the "Edit locally" fonction need to install an activeX to the computer.
The user need to be administrator. Then when for the first time he tries to edit locally, the activeX will install. You can then remove the user from the administrator group.
You need write authorizations in registry (local machine) and to folder C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Local Settings\Temp
If you configured the portal in java mode for local edit, you need to install JRE 1.4.2_x on the computer.

  • Retrieving a local folder hangs Dreamweaver

When I click on a local folder, Dreamweaver just hangs and I get the spinning beachball for several minutes before my directory listing finally appears.  What gives?  Its a local folder, it should just open it up and show the contents without having to go and do research for 2 minutes.  I've tried both with the cache on and off.  I've deleted the cache several times too.  Screenshot attached of the message I get when it hangs.

Additionally another problem I get is Dreamweaver is showing all of my files marked with a + sign as if they were never added to my source control (I use SVN).  The files are added (have been for months), checked in, committed, and they still show the + sign.

Have you tried clearing the cache as in http://www.dmxzone.com/go/16740/clearing-dreamweaver-s-cache/
