Customize OpsMgr 2012 SP1 Web Console settings

Hello all,
The question I have I've been seaching for days and I wasn't able to find nothing so I decided to ask here and hopefully there's someone
whose already did it.
I'm found some divergences on the number of alerts webconsole shows compared to scom console (UI).
Due this issue I spent hours of research on blogs and foruns until I find a blog post from Michael Pearson (link below) that list
a bunch of settings you can add to web.config file, allowing you to choose which interval and which kind of alerts you want to display (critical, critical and errors or critical, errors and information), among others. I tried to make it work on my lab environment
but these parameters seems to be incompatible with OpsMgr 2012.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/michaelpearson/archive/2009/11/30/opsmgr-r2-web-console-web-config-settings.aspx
Does anyone know if similar customization is available on OpsMgr 2012?
Regards

You should modify the web.config file under
c:\program files\Microsoft System Center 2012 R2\operations Manager\webconsole\monitoringview

  • SCOM 2012 SP1 Web Console not filtering "Items by Text Search"

I have the weirdest issue with not one, but two installations of SCOM 2012 (SP1) specific to the Web-based Console.  I have to think that it's something that I've messed up since each installation (separate domains, separate environments) is exhibiting
the exact same behavior and that I cannot find a single mention by anyone else experiencing this problem anywhere on the 'net.
The problem I'm encountering is that when I try to filter the list of objects using the "Look for: Items by text Search" option, the list doesn't filter! It's just the *weirdest* thing!
For example, I go into "Microsoft Windows Server; Performance" and select "Disk Capacity".  The view loads just fine with two panes up top, and the object list down below.  I select a pane to display the list of objects which
gives me all the servers discovered/managed by SCOM.  I changed the "Look for:" drop-down from "All Items" to "Items by Text Search" which makes the text field (to the right) active.  I enter my text string and........
nothing happens.  When I hit "Enter" the pane simply refreshes.  The "Reset" button doesn't become active further reinforcing the fact that something just ain't right.
I have a installation of SCOM 2007 R2 and this feature works flawlessly.
Anyone have any idea as to what I may have missed or what I might do to resolve this issue?  Again, I've found absolutely nothing on the Internet specific to this issue (unless my search criteria is woefully flawed) which suggests that I've messed something
    up.
Thank you in advance for your time!
    -Todd
PS - this feature works just fine in the installed/thick client/console.

Unfortunately, I never did receive an answer to this issue/post, and I never found a solution with this version of SCOM.
I did, however, just test this functionality on the SCOM 2012 R2 installation and discovered that the "Items by text search" filter in the web console *does* work as one would expect.  So, if you're able, upgrade to SCOM 2012 R2 and you should
be much happier with the result.  (I think I'm running Cumulative Update #2, if that helps.)
    Hope this helps!
    -Todd

  • SCOM 2012 SP1 Web Console High Availability Configuration

We are a large children's hospital, with many ancillary units that we are trying to get to help monitor their servers/devices/applications through the SCOM web console.  Due to the number of connections we have two standalone web console servers. The
entire environment is running on Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition servers, and we are running SCOM 2012 SP1 UR3.  When accessing the web console directly via the FQDN of the server, everything works great. We have an HLB virtual IP and DNS entry
(SCOM.domain.com), which works flawlessly when access the default IIS website. However, when accessing the web console URL (http://SCOM.domain.com/OperationManagerdown) Negotiate:Kerberos, NTLM, Negotiate.  I believe the issue lies in the fact that
the Application Pools are running under the ApplicationPoolIdentity identity, and the HTTP SPN's are using the machine account.  We have tried changing the identity of the application pools to a domain account (the SDK service account), and modified the
SPN's so the HTTP SPNs are assigned to the domain account.  We also created SPNs for the HLB VIP DNS alias.  But to no avail.  While we realize that Microsoft does not support load balancing of the web console, there has to be a way to make
it work.  We will have more than 50 connections, so using one web console server is not an option, and asking our users to use two different URLs is not very user friendly.  If anyone has any suggestions or had any success, please let me know.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Is switching to forms based authentication an option? The extra login might be considered a pain however, but forms plus SSL is the only successful LM configuration we have worked with. We use F5s.

  • Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 CU4 Console - Content Status very slow

    I have a SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4 environment running.
When using the console and viewing the Monitoring / Distribution Status / Content Status it took about 10-15 minutes to get the information.
How can this be speed up a bit ? By adding additional indexes in SQL ?
Any tips, hints are very welcome.

    Hi,
Have you seen this previuous thread on the topic?
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7935143e-21a8-4770-83bf-7e1938d9defd/configuration-manager-2012-content-status-slow?forum=configmanagergeneral
I would run the script from Ola that reports back on the indexe defragementeation and what I normally see as well is that more than one TempDB file increases performance greatly. It is most likely covered in the session mentioned above by Tim.

  • [OpsMgr 2012 SP1 RU1] Network Devices disappeared

    Hello,
I have enabled network monitoring on my OpsMgr 2012 environment.
I created explicit discovery rules to discover around 20 newtork devices
There are two CISCO 6506 switches running in pair with IP address 172.x.x.117 and 172.x.x.118
Both switches are discovered and under monitored successfully, I can monitored the Proccessor usage, ports, etc
However, after sometime, the 172.x.x.117 switch disappeared from the console.
I tried to re-discover it, but it eventually disappeared again.
Please help on this issue, is it a bug or something? the second swtich 172.x.x.118 is being monitored normally without any issue
    Thank you very much

I have the same problem, but the network device thats disappears for me is a windows server 2008 R2 that I have added as a network device.

  • SCOM 2012 SP1 Web Transaction Monitoring with Login test.

    Hi,
we setup a web transaction monitor test and did the full recording.  The web site is one that accepts an active directory account for login.  We also setup a runas account that is a valid account for the site and configured NTLM in the settings
for authetication and set this runas account.
The test does not fail.    However when we change the runas account password to force a failure, we dont get a failure on the website login test but instead a runas account verfication failure from SCOM.
How can we configure the web transaction monitor to properly login during the test?   Any guidance would be appreciated.
    Thanks Lance

So back to the original topic of the thread.
We setup another test on a site that uses basic authentication.  We setup the web transaction test to use a  login on a initial site that transfers to a second site.  We recorded this entire test and saved.  It seems to work as it gives
    no errors.
However when we change the Runas account's credentials, which means it CANT login to the site, it still runs fine with no errors.
This tells me it is not really logging in but just seeing the http status code is less than 400.
    What am I doing wrong.
    Thanks Lance

  • SCOM 2012 R2 Report Server component install to SQL 2012 Sp1 error?

    Hi All
Im having issues installing SCOM 2012 R2 Report Server component to a SQL 2012 Sp1 Server (which is a Windows 2012 R2 Standard server).  Im trying to install to the SQL Default server instance, note that the server also has a named instance
which hosts the SCOM databases.  SQL Reporting Services is up and running fine (can access the web urls etc).  Im also using the SCOM install account wich has full SQL and SCOM Server admin rights for the install.  Ive checked that the Firewall
is off locally on the SQL Server, Ive also checked that the existing SCOM components are all in a Healthy state in the SCOM console.
The installed version of SQL Server could not be verified or is not supported. Verify that the computer and the installed version of SQL Server meet the minimum requirements for installation, and that the firewall settings are correct. See the Supported
    Configurations document for further information.
Ive attempted the install on a standalone SQL Server away from the SQL Server hosting the SCOM databases, but encounter the same error.  The full SCOM MSI Installer log details are below, line that appears most relevant is below but unsure why
this would be the case (same account that I used for SQL install etc).  Any help much appreciated! : )

  • Three agent UR versions gets installed from gateway - SCOM 2012 SP1 UR4

    Hi,
We have a SCOM 2012 SP1 UR4 installation with several gateways that servers connect to and get installation from.
We noticed that when the agent get installed on a client server it gets first the agent itself, then UR1, UR2 and last UR4.
From the XML-section in the task that has installed the agent one can read the following:
    SoftwareUpdateInstalled KB2784734-amd64-Agent.msp;KB2826664-amd64-Agent.msp;KB2880799-amd64-Agent.msp; SoftwareUpdateInstalled
Below is from the application log of a newly installed server that got the agent installed.
The question I have is if this is correct? Why are all three UR installed?
Shouldn't it be enough with the latest version of UR? Are they not cumulative?
Can I simply delete the older versions in the agent directory of the Gateway?

    Hi,
This should be normal, as we can see in the below two articles. When applying Update Rollup 2, UR1 is listed there, and when applying Update Rollup 3, UR1 and UR2 is listed there also.

  • ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 module on runbooks servers

Let me come out the gate stating I am very new to Orchestrator and somewhat new to powershell.
I want to start testing the ConfigMgr SP1 cmdlets via runbooks.  I found a blog that shows some gotchas on how to run the .Net script action which is great, however all the examples I see show importing the module from an installed management console
    directory.
I am assuming that when I run a runbook that needs to reference Configmgr cmdlets that the module must imported from a local path on the runbook server(s) itself.  I am really hoping that this doesnt mean I have to install the SCCM 2012 SP1
admin console on my Orchestrator Runbook Servers?
Am I just missing something obvious here?  I tried copying the entire bin directory that contains the psd1 and all the associated dll's, etc. to another machine and importing the module, but unfortunately it fails with:

Can someone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks!!

So I partly answered my own question.  The above error message was due to having Powershell 2.0 on the test machine and not 3.0 which is required.  I updated the powershell version and was able to import without error (and without installing the
    full admin console).
So I guess my question then comes down to what is the best practices for things like this?  Certainly do not want to install admin consoles for every SC product on my runbook servers.  It appears that with SCCM I can simply create a directory (standard
on all runbook servers of course) and copy the files there and import from that location.  is that the preffered method for handling this?
    Thanks!!

  • SCOM 2007 R2 to SCOM 2012 SP1 upgrade issues.

We have SCOM 2007 R2 on one of our development Environment.
The plan was to upgrade to SCOM 2012 R2 so we installed the SCOM 2007 R2 CU5.
We are having issues to upgrade now from SCOM 2007 R2 CU5 to SCOM 2012 SP1.
While upgrading we received the below message:
    Unable to Proceed
Setup is unable to proceed with installation for the following reason:
At least  one of the following application is  installed on the computer.Due to incompatibility with system center 2012 - operations manager, these applications must be uninstalled.
-System Center 2012 - operations manager beta
    -system center operations manager 2007
-system center operations manager 2007 sp1
--system center operations manager 2007 r2
    -system center service manager agent
    --system center essentials agent

    Hi,
You cannot upgrade from SCOM2007R2 to SCOM2012SP1, you must upgrade to SCOM2012 and the upgrade to SCOM2012SP1
    Cameron Fuller has a blog:
    http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/cfuller/archive/2013/02/11/can-you-upgrade-from-opsmgr-2007-r2-to-opsmgr-2012-sp1-scom-sysctr.aspx
Upgrading System Center 2012 – Operations Manager to System Center 2012 SP1

"The only supported upgrade path to System Center 2012 Service Pack 1 (SP1), Operations Manager is from System Center 2012 – Operations Manager. If you are upgrading from System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2, you must first upgrade to System Center 2012

  • Orchestrator 2012 SP1 Update Rollup 2 - Runbooks missing in web console and designer after moving to new folders

I've run across an interesting problem.  After applying SP1 update rollup 2, I decided to re-organize my runbooks by placing them in a new folder naming structure.
I created the new folder structure under the runbook server in the runbook designer.  I then right clicked and moved the runbooks to their new location.  Everything was fine until windows updates were applied (Windows 2012) and the server was restarted.
After the restart, the runbooks are missing from both the designer and the web console.
I saw posts about truncating the Authorization Cache.  I did that (see below) but that has not resolved my issue.
    TRUNCATE TABLE [Microsoft.SystemCenter.Orchestrator.Internal].AuthorizationCache
    EXEC [Microsoft.SystemCenter.Orchestrator.Maintenance].EnqueueRecurrentTask 'ClearAuthorizationCache'
    EXEC [Microsoft.SystemCenter.Orchestrator.Maintenance].EnqueueRecurrentTask 'Statistics'
Not all the runbooks are missing.  Some are visible.  However, if I view the runbooks via SQL by querying Orchestrator.dbo.Policies, I see all of the runbooks. They just all don't show up in the designer.
SELECT * FROM [Orchestrator].[dbo].[POLICIES] Order by Name
The ones that are missing are always the same when the web console or designer is run (designer ran with and without elevated permissions).
Has anyone else seen this behavior?  How do I get the runbooks to show back up in the correct folders?  Or, how can I get them to show up anywhere so I can move them to the appropriate location?
    Thank you
    Ted

    Hi Ted,
    sometimes seen similar.
It's not supported to manipulate the Orchestrator DB with SQL, but I know only to fix it with SQL statements.
    All information below without warranty!
There's a column named Deleted in table Policies. Look with your select statement above if the Runbooks have the deleted flag. If yes, update it to 0.
But, I guess not. I think the previous containing folder has the deleted flag (table folders) and the Runbooks have still this folder as ParentID.
SELECT POLICIES.Name AS RunbookName, FOLDERS.Name AS FolderName, FOLDERS.Deleted AS FolderDeleted
    FROM POLICIES INNER JOIN
    FOLDERS ON POLICIES.ParentID = FOLDERS.UniqueID
WHERE POLICIES.Name = 'Name of one Runbook'
If so, change the deleted flag from the containing Folder:
    UPDATE FOLDERS
    SET Deleted = 0
    FROM POLICIES INNER JOIN
    FOLDERS ON POLICIES.ParentID = FOLDERS.UniqueID
WHERE (POLICIES.Name = 'Name of one Runbook')
after that Restart Management Service and Refresh view in Runbook Designer
    Good luck!

Hi I am having an Issue with the SCOM 2012 sp1 Cu4 Web console,

I found that the only way to fix it previously was to completely remove IIS from the server and reinstall everything connecting to the Web Console, so far its not the best way to go as I keep getting this error after 2 days,
Can anyone tell me how I would even go about diagnosing this?
    Kind Regards

Got the same issue again with Update Release 2 for R2,
then found this blog, but it did not help me, only guided me in a direction
    http://thoughtsonopsmgr.blogspot.com/2013/12/quick-fix-register-aspnet-40-with-iis.html
What help me was to re-add the svc-integrated-4.0 by copying and pasting the info it, same with the ScriptModule-4.0.
Don't know why that worked for me but this is a funny issue,
I also don't recommend doing this, as it only worked for me.

  • SCOM 2012 SP1 Upgrade - RMS fine but can't upgrade reporting or web console

    Hi,
We've just upgraded our RMS to SCOM 2012 SP1 and everything went smoothly as per the documentation. However when I next try to upgrade the Reporting or Web Consoles (located on separate servers) to SP1 I am presented with a message saying:
"The management server to which this component reports has not been upgraded".
At that point we cannot proceed past the prerequisite checker.
I am totally confident that the SP1 upgrade went through on the RMS and all file versions are at SP1.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Hi Retee,
I was not able to find a fix for this but I did find a workaround.
    1.  I copied the installation files from the SCOM 2012 SP1 DVD/ISO to a folder, SCOM_2012_INSTALL on the reporting server.
    2.  Browsed to the following folder ..\SCOM_2012_INSTALL\setup\AMD64\ and commented out the following section of the IntermilestoneUpgradePrereqs.xml file:
      <!-- <Check Order="210">
        <Id>4AB9384E-45B6-4E72-AFC8-596EC7E5ED3C</Id>

          <Component>OMREPORTING</Component>
        </Components>
        <Title>MgmtServerUpgradedTitle</Title>
        <PassedDescription>MgmtServerUpgradedPassed</PassedDescription>
        <FailedDescription>MgmtServerUpgradedFailed</FailedDescription>
        <Resolution>MgmtServerUpgradedResolution</Resolution>

          <LogicDelegate LogicType="and"
                         DelegateId="MgmtServerUpgradedCheck"
                         DelegateNameSpace="Microsoft.SystemCenter.Essentials.SetupFramework.HelperClasses.OMPrequisiteChecks,SetupChainerUI"
                         DelegateName="ManagementServerAlreadyUpgradedCheck" />
        </LogicDelegates>
      </Check>  -->
    3.  Ran ..\SCOM_2012_INSTALL\setup.exe and the upgrade was successful.
Our SCOM infrastructure has now been at 2012 R2 for a couple of months and I have not seen any issues caused by commenting out this section.  But as always, use at your own risk.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Iain

  • Adding Company Knowledge with OpsMgr 2012 Console - "Failed to launch Microsoft Word"

    Hi everyone!
I'm trying to add company knowledge using the OpsMgr 2012 console (32-bit) on Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit) using the guidelines provided at the following link...
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh212900.aspx
I'm using Office 2010 Pro Plus SP1 (32-bit) with the .NET Programmability feature and the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office Second Edition Runtime installed, but I get the dreaded "failed to launch Microsoft Word" error...
...any help or guidance would be greatly apprecaited!
    Regards,
    JJ

    Thanks Andres!
I have confirmed that the following instructions does allow you to use Word 2010 32-bit running on Windows 7 64-bit or Windows Server 2008 R2 to edit company
    knowledge...
    1. Go to the directory where the OpsMgr console is installed (example: C:\Program Files\System Center\Operations Manager 2012\Console )
    2. Make a copy of Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Monitoring.Console.exe.config
    3. Edit Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Monitoring.Console.exe.config using Administrator rights
    4. Search for “</dependentAssembly>” and remove the “<publisherPolicy apply="no" />” line immediately following the “</dependentAssembly>” line
    Hope this helps!
    Regards,
    JJ
Well, firstly I have to agree with other people's comments along the lines of "It shouldn't be this hard!", but I can happily say that the solution above (by IM5FOOTNOTHIN)
worked for me...once I noticed this crucial footnote: "Do this for
    ALL instances of the
<publisherPolicy apply="no" /> line that immediately follow the </dependentAssembly> line"

  • Best practice - Heartbeat discovery and Clear Install Flag settings (SCCM client) - SCCM 2012 SP1 CU5

    Dear All,
Is there any best practice to avoid having around 50 Clients, where the Client version number shows in the right side, but client doesn't show as installed, see attached screenshot.
SCCM version is 2012 SP1 CU5 (5.00.7804.1600), Server, Admin console have been upgraded, clients is being pushed to SP1 CU5.
    Following settings is set:
    Heartbeat Discovery every 2nd day
Clear Install Flag maintenance task is enabled - Client Rediscovery period is set to 21 days
    Client Installation settings
Software Update-based client installation is not enabled
Automatic site-wide client push installation is enabled.
    Any advise is appreciated

    Hi,
I saw a similar case with yours. They clients were stuck in provisioning mode.
"we finally figured out that the clients were stuck in provisioning mode causing them to stop reporting. There are two registry entries we changed under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CCM\CcmExec]:
    ProvisioningMode=false
    SystemTaskExcludes=*blank*
When the clients were affected, ProvisioningMode was set to true and SystemTaskExcludes had several entries listed. After correcting those through a GPO and restarting the SMSAgentHost service the clients started reporting again."
