Customize orphan file report?

Using DW CS6 (Windows 7 if that makes a difference) can we customize a broken link/orphan file report in any way? I've been searching around for this for a while and haven't found anything so I'm assuming no but...
The problem:
We use Adobe Contribute with rollbacks enabled so it will create file strings that contain "_bak" when a page is published to our development server. When generating a report looking for orphan files, I have to weed through thousands (around 10,000 lines in an Excel file) of these false orphans to end up with a list of real orphans. Is there a way to search the site and ignore any files/folders with _bak in the string?
Thanks!

Thanks both of you. I guess I'd better brush up on my Excel skills.
And I agree Nancy. I never use or trust it to find broken links. I'm strictly using it to locate orphan files that our users neglected to delete from the site. I've used Xenu in the past but found another tool called Deep Trawl that I've been using. Not that it's any better really. I just like the interface a little more.
Thanks again!

  • /http//... links in CS4 orphaned links report

I ran link checker on a site I am cleaning up in Dreamweaver.
The orphaned file report shows many strange "what appear to be links" and not files.
    Below are some examples:
    /http//ima.google.com.sg/imgres
    /http//search.aol.com/aol/search
    /http//play-mp3.com
also returned are the following which are paths(?) to pages that have been deleted from the site:
    /http//spatialgraphics.com/travel.htm
    /http//spatialgraphics.com/skh.htm
It's all very weird stuff, and I was wondering if anyone knows what this stuff is and where it's coming from?
    Thsanks so much!

I found the answer -- well, sort of. I don't know how or why the links got there in the first place but I found through another post [http://forums.adobe.com/message/379973#379973] that all you need to do is:
    run orphaned links
    delete the unwanted http links
Run "Recreate Site Cache" [Site/Advanced/Recreate Site Cache]
run orphaned links again and they should be gone.
Of course by doing step #2, you may have deleted important information on the page.  What you deleted was server scripting to write in those links dynamically.  Deleting links directly from this orphan link report is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS and should only be done if you completely understand how those links got there and why they are on your page.

  • Orphaned files throwing up "/"

One of my sites reveals over 40 orphaned files with just the DW logo followed by /. Nothing else. There are no broken links and I can't delete them. And the site works perfectly. I don't like mysteries so anyone any ideas please?

All my links to the Home Page have always been: <a href="../index.html" etc.
That's not really optimal - search engines will then think that you have TWO pages with identical content -
example.com, and example.com/index.html - and will penalize you for that.  Anyhow, that being the case, I have no clue why you are seeing these items appear in your orphan file report....

  • Check Links reports orphan files that do exist

With CS3 9, I ran a Check Links for Entire Current Local Site
and it is reporting orphaned files that are definitely being linked
to. The problem is demonstrated by a SWF with 5 thumbnail images,
each linking to a .htm file. All 5 .htm files are in the same
folder, same URL aside from the filename and the SWF works fine...
but Check Links reports that 3 of the 5 .htm files are orphans. Has
anyone seen this problem? Any suggestions?

  • "anchor" links and Orphaned files ???

I have a number of "anchor" links to a file named "constitution.html".  This is to allow one to jump to a specific part of a VERY long page (the complete constitution).  The links are like this one constitution.html#a3s1.  When I check in DW CS5 for Orphaned files DW reports this file "constitution.html" as an orphaned file.
Is this normal because of the anchor links part of the link?
Or do I have some unknown problem with my code?
The links to this "orphaned" file are working OK.
    Thanks

Is this normal because of the anchor links part of the link?
    Yes.  Sorry....

  • Customize xml batch report

I am using xml report and need to customize the batch report body to add values. Did override the ModifyBatchReportEntry callback but noting gets written to the batch report body. Does this needs to update the xls files? if so can the xls file be updated dynamically?
    thanks!
    CLD,CTD

    Hello,
Unfortunately there is not currently an option to select Sequence for the report generation method when the report format is XML. There are, however, a few alternatives: Using the ATML, HTML, or ASCII formats will allow you to select Sequence, and at that point the ModifyReportEntry callback (and other similar callbacks) will become available.
If you are required to continue with XML you will need to modify the DLL that TestStand uses to build the XML report. For your convenience we include the source code for this DLL. You will find the project file at <TestStand>\Components\Models\TestStandModels\.
    Thanks,

  • Orphaned files - broken links - URGENT

    Hi everyone
I am currently going through and deleting 675 orphaned files
and files that are old although if they create a broken link after
deletion this will not show when I re run the link checker even
though I know they are. Does anyone know why this is? I can't keep
deleting things if it is going to create a broken link within the
site. Also, is there any way of finding out where an individual
document is located on the site if at all?
Second issue is that orphaned files that I have deleted in
both the local site and remote site are still coming up when I do
the link check. Why is this so and how can I get them removed from
    the orphaned files list?
    Please help
    Merry

many of the people offering answers use the NNTP newsgroup
    reader version.
the webforum has been flaky lately i think.
Here's my reply from a while ago-
after deleting files- recreate the site cache.
It's under the site menu on older versions, under
    site-->advanced on newer.
dw's link checker checks html links, and links in "behaviors"
    that it
    understands.
it will not check links in most javascript.
What's an example of a broken link that dw didn't warn of
    when deleting the
reported orphan? url address to the page??
and here are links to a google archive of the newsgroup.

  • URLs in orphaned file list?

when I check for orphaned files on my very old, very messy
website I see urls like "/http:/java.sun.com",
"mailto:[email protected]" and nothing happens when I choose
"open file". I can delete them from the list but when I run the
orphaned files check again they're all back! what's going on?
I recognize most of these as files and links that were
deleted long ago (them and the pages that linked to them). How is
dreamweaver finding these links and what are they doing in the
    orphaned files list?

    > I recognize most of these as files and links that were
    deleted long ago
Under the main dw menu->Site->Advanced->Rebuild Site
    Cache.

  • How can I delete orphan files from my itunes library all at once?

My itunes library has 0ver 200k files and about 30,000 were on an external drive that crashed leaving me with 30,000 orphan files that I want to delete from the library. Too many to delete one by one, how can I either sort them by this field to select all with shift click or is there a script to delete them?
    Fausto

AAC is Advanced Audio Coding.  Basically it's a format that sounds better than MP3 but doesn't take up as much space as a lossless format (like you'd have on a CD).  More than likely you've had that encoding turned on when you ripped your music into itunes (it's the default encoder).  Therefore your LG phone won't play them.
You need to turn off the AAC format by going to the iTunes menu, Preferences, General (at the top), then clicking the "Import Preferences" button.  Change the AAC Encoder to MP3 Encoder.  After that you'll have to make MP3 copies of your songs by right clicking them and selecting "Create MP3 Version."  You'll get a copy of the song that should transfer to your SD card and have MP3 encoding.  Hopefully your phone will play that.

  • My MacBook Pro (2010) running Mountain Lion is getting slower and slower. How do I fix the orphan files?

My 2010 Macbook pro is running slower and slower. I went to the Genius Bar about eight months ago, and they botted up from the disk, and let it go through and find what  its process to find and fix what I think were "orphan" files. I cannot remember what they did, but when they did it, the speed on my Macbook picked up considerably.
I have since upgraded to Mountain Lion, but these problems do not seem related to that. My 500 GB HDD is about 80% full.

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

    Hi:
After some days and several test I discover the solution.
I'm using Unicodes in the messages text (like \u00e9, \u00e1) and due to a typing mistake, in just a word the sequence \u00es appears instead of \u00e9.
It seems \u00es is not a valid Unicode code and that was the cause of this particular error.
I think this kind of message error must change depending which web server is used.
As i said, i'm using the embedded oc4j server.
    Bye.

  • Error in File (report server\ report.rpt):  Database Connector Error

New installation of XI R2 - using Crystal Reports Version 11.5.8.826 for developement against Oracle DB.
Currently have around 20 reports running on XI (need to import ~1500 reports from Crystal Enterprise 10, but waiting to resolve this issue)
Some reports sometimes (not always) get the following error:
Error in File (report server\ report.rpt):  Database Connector Error
If the report is re-scheduled, report will sometime run fine and sometimes gets the same error again.
There seems to be no logical way to determine which parameters will cause the report to fail or when.
I'm experiencing the problem on about 3 reports only - All against the same DB and only occassionally.  These 20 reports were developed with CR XI and all run against the same Oracle DB.

I've got the same problem- the reports run fine in Crystal, but sometimes (not everytime) they fail in InfoView with "Database Connector Error" message. My report doesn't contain any data, just 8 sets of 4 subreports in different footer sections, which each connect to a different stored procedure. The report is to help with our server checks: we have a set of 4 different stored procedures which run on each of 8 different servers making 32 different SPs and there is a subreport in this report for each.
It does seem to be random whether this problem occurs or not- I have scheduled the report to run regularly (1 recurring instance) and sometime it works, sometimes not, but always the same failure message. I have increased the success rate by allowing the report to re-try on failure, but this does take time, and isn't really curing the problem.
I wonder whether this error could be caused by a delay in one of the SPs returning its data, and the report timing out since no data is being returned. Would anyone know whether this is likely to be the cause, and if so how to fix it? Or any suggestions what else it could be?
    Thanks,
    Tom

  • How do I get rid of 'orphaned' files

    Hi,
What is a good software (free preferably) to use in order to get rid of 'orphaned' files I seem to have migrated over from my old iMac? For example, I have Virtual PC, Print Explosion, Otto game, etc. in there as well as many other orphaned files/folders like this that I won't be using on my Macbook Pro. Is there a software that will detect these so I can SAFELY get rid of all these unnecessary files? Please advise.

This isn't an endorsement since I haven't used it.
