Customize the APEX admin interface

Is it possible to to customize the APEX admin interface, might sound silly but what i am specifically looking at is replacing the Oracle Application Express Logo on top left corner with a custom logo.
Would anyone know how easy or difficult that is in case its possible.
Thank you,
Vamshi

Browser extensions like Firefox+Stylish are useful when it is beneficial to customise the builder UI—such as changing font sizes and text contrast. For browsers that don't have such extensions, local user style sheets can be created.

Hi alll
I have an XE database running an APEX site at http://127.0.0.1/ port 80
http://127.0.0.1/apex is 404 NOT FOUND
How can I find the admin URL of the apex? This is Windows 64 bit

Hi,
which XE-release did you configure how to run which APEX on port 80?
Basically, the error message you receive tells you you don't have APEX on port 80...
Note that the default port for the APEX shipped with XE would be 8080.
The Admin-URL for apex would usually be http://<yourhost>:<yourport>/apex/apex_admin

• How to reload the WRT160N through the web admin interface?

I see no way to do this, which is strange. Is there a way to reset through the web admin page or did Cisco gaffe on this? Thanks!

Open an Internet Explorer browser page.In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave the username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Click on "Administration" tab and click on Factory Defaults subtab and select Restore All Settings, this should reset your router to Factory Defaults...
Also you have a reset button next to the power cable, Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

• Customize the Apex calender

Hi all,
I'm using an SQL calendar which displays times and names when an insert is done.
How can I add holidays to my calendar?
Thanks,
Cleo

Hello Cleo,
>> In the calendar, I'm only displaying the time, how can I display the name of the event …
In principle, I don’t see any reason why not to display the name of the event directly, i.e. without any further actions like DOM events. After all, I believe that for most people looking at a calendar, the option of immediately identify the event is more important than just see that there is one at any given time.
Is there a reason why now you are only displaying the time of the event? What is the resource of the event name?
As you can see from my example on the holidays, the display segment of the calendar SQL can be quite complex and it can use concatenation of several columns, and also includes HTML code.
>> … for example onmouseover or when clicked
Personally, I don’t like using the onmouseover event to display new content (especially if this content should be retrieved from the database) because it’s hard to control how many of these events you are triggering (for nothing) on your way to the real target. In any case, the way to do it is to embed the appropriate HTML code within your SQL query. If you can’t display the information directly, I believe the simplest way is to use a link (the <a> tag) to redirect to a different location or to fire an event.

• SG 300 web admin interface does not display properly

Went to log into the web admin interface on my SG-300 today and I get this in both IE and Firefox:
I'm not able to login by typing user/password and just pressing enter. I've tried power-cycling the switch, and this didn't help, however, since the power cycle, the font-panel system LED has been blinking green. I seem to recall, though I can't locate the reference now, that this means the switch is running with factory settings, but that cannot be right because:
1. I had previously saved a new configuration on the switch, which it should be using now.
2. It is answering on the configured non-factory IP address -- just not rendering the web admin interface successfully.
I've had this unit for approximately a month. This is not the first issue I have had with this unit (see:
https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3486734) and I'm experiencing some strange LAN speed issues since I installed it. Do I need to RMA this thing?

Hi Lamont
There was a issue and work around for a issue with IE in the release notes, it may be relevant to you.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/csbms/sf30x_sg30x/release_notes/Sx200-Sx300_R1.1.1.8.pdf
Problem: Some WEB GUI pages require full version compatibility of JRE, Browser and JRE-Browser applets. For XML compatibility reasons, MSXML DLL Version 6 is required for IE browser users.
Solution: For download and installation please refer the following link: www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=993C0BCF-3BCF-4009-

This may or may not be relevant to you. I would like to think that you are using 1.1.1.8 ?
If you really are experiencing some weird problems , why not get the product verified by the Good folk at the Small Business Support Center.

• How to make sure all the apex pages open up in new tab (or) new windows ?

- Lets say I create an Apex application in 4.0.2 with 10 pages.
- Now I wanted to check if there is some property in the Apex Admin or some settings which control this:
1) anything you click on application, either a page,field- it needs to open in a new tab in the same browser
2) anything you click on application, either a page,field- it needs to open in a new browser window

I normally say that 98% of questions asked here have been asked (and answered) before, but I think this is a new one...
What needs to open in a new tab/window? The target APEX page? It would be interesting to hear the reasoning behind this.
If this is referring to each page view, as Matt points out there are a number of technical reasons in both browsers and APEX that would make this difficult to achieve. However these are dwarfed by usability and accessibility concerns. Using such a UI model would drive most users insane in short order. More seriously it would confuse infrequent users and users with learning disabilities, and present significant orientation and navigation problems for visually impaired users and people using assistive navigation technologies.

• Customizing the Bridge Search Interface

I've created a custom MetaData Schema and custom FileInfo panel for my CS4 applications.
Now, I'd like to customize the bridge search interface. Currently, the search interface shows EXIF metadata types as searchable. I'd like to add my own, and remove the EXIF.
After reading the Adobe Bridge CS4 Javascript Guide, I believe that I can do what I want by creating a whole new script driven search window. It seems like it should be much easier than that to modify the Search interface directly.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

My suggestion would be to post in the Bridge Scripting forum:

• Re Decommissioning of v2 of admin interface

We still make use of the v2 admin interface regularly when working with clients.The v3 interface has no way to change the password recovery email address, which is something that we have to do for clients on a semi-regular basis.
How will we accomplish this once v2 is decommissioned on 5 February?

Hey Megan, How are things?
Moving this to a better location, this section is just for system announcements.
For your question, BC has already been told of this and a few other things. Part of what they are doing is including some of these missing aspects and other things so they can shut that down.
This has been on the cards for a very long time so anyone else who has clients also using this admin yet and not already shown them how to use the new UI really have to get cracking addressing that.

• Customize the look of the interface?

Is there anyway to customize the look of the interface in FCP?
In other words- change the color of the timeline background, video tracks, audio tracks, etc.
I recall Avid gave me that option and it seems like it would be something Apple would allow- but I can not find any way to do it.

Only by hacking the locked .nib files inside the application bundle.
One false move and you are looking at a full reinstall. Not really worth it in my opinion.

• Disabling regions in the APEX interface

Using APEX 2.2.1 we would like to create a reporting system where we (IT) create the views and users can create the report pages (selecting the columns and where clause).
1. Is there a way to hide/disable the regions in the APEX interface (for users only) so that for instance, only the Region Report is available to the user when creating a page. So that all they have to do is enter a SQL statement and optionally change column names or order. The idea is to use the APEX interface as much as possible without us having to create a new interface.
2. If the above is not possible how feasible/recommendable would it be to create our own interface so that using the APEX API it creates new pages/regions dynamically.

Hi Dennis,
Will Deleting the controls solve the purpose ? I tried moving the controls from the visible part of the front panel. but when the code was run the controls came back to their original position. Then I discovered that the full featured user interface has some code to set the position,size etc of the controls. This part of the code also checks the number of controls present. So I was wondering if just editing the configuration alone could disable the controls.
Thanks

• After APEX-upgrade to 3.0 on OracleXE the link admin/apex_admin dosent work

Hi,
I made a new installtion of OracleXE. After that I upgrade it to APEX 3.0 on this way:
* Editing the ..\apex\coreins.sql script
........ On line 573 you need to set the XE variable to 1 for XE installation:
........ define XE = '1'
* sqlplus "sys/syspass as sysdba" @apexins password SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/
* sql> @apex_epg_config.sql d:\ (the APEX-installationfiles are under D:\apex)
* Update OWA-Packages with @owainst.sql
* Shutdown und startup the database
After that I can access the link http://localhost:8080/apex, but I am not able to access the link http://localhost:8080/apex/apex_admin - I got the message HTTP 404 Page not found.
I had already drop the schemata FLOWS* and reinstall APEX 3.0, but this is the same.
And if I try this:
http://localhost:8080/apex
and login with workspace INTERNAL, I got this:
application=4050 workspace=10
Error ERR-1014 Application not found
The installation-logfile shows me no errors.
What is wrong here?
Regards,
Mark

Hi,
its a while ago since i've done this, but for me this worked on a fresh XE Installation:
* extract Apex-Zip to C:\dlextract\apex_3.1
* open a Command-Window (cmd) and change to directory C:\dlextract\apex_3.1\apex
* sqlplus /nolog
* connect sys as sysdba;
* @apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/
* after apexins script call sqlplus again
* @apxldimg c:\dlextract\apex_3.1
* @apxxepwd new_password_for_admin_user
As a last Step i upgraded the PL/SQL Web Toolkit (for Details see apex/owa/Readme.txt) using "@owainst in sqlplus" located in directory apex/owa
Hope that helps,
Peter

• Branding admin interface in IDM V7.1

Hi,
I am trying to customize the admin and user interfaces. I have successfully completed the customization of the user interface, but the admin interface is presenting some challenges. I am controlling the customization thru the customStyle.css to add for example the corporate logo in the header. But it does not appear on the admin interface but appears on the user's interface. Does anybody have any information as to how the login.jsp is controlled for admin and user interfaces? Is the same login.jsp being used? I also need to get rid of the underlying bar in the admin interface in the header? i would appreciate your input ver much, and thanks in advance.
Thanks,
MeeraK

Anyone? I would very much appreciate it if you can give me any information.
Thanks,

• Unable to login Apex Admin

11gR1 installed on Windows XP Pro SP3
I can get to the admin login page but when I try to login nothing happens. This seems like a common problem but the solution is not clear to me.
I had 11g installed with Apex 3.0 so I upgraded it to 3.2.1 by using the complete installation. So when the install guide says "Run apex_epg_config.sql passing the file system path to the base directory where the Oracle Application Express software was unzipped", should I point to the Oracle home location where my db is installed? I don't see why I would point to the unzipped folder.
Assuming this is correct I ran the script apex_epg_config, but the apex/images folder in my db installation seems to be missing some apex_..._.js files. All the image files appear to be in place. I also ran apxldimg but I still have the same results. Are those js files supposed to be there? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance...

No it's running from the database. You need to point to the unzipped folder, because the scripts you run are actually insert everything in that folder into the database.
Therefor, you shouldn't use this option too often, because it will use a lot of space in your database.
For single file editing use Filezilla, for example.
Also, since you're on an 11g database, you may want to consider changing from the EPG to HTTP-server / mod_plsql. If you use the latter, you will be able to use all images and .css files from the filesystem, which will give you a much more easily maintainable environment when it comes to images and .css files and such.
Good luck!
