You can create a page and add a login portlet to it.Make it accesible to public.
change the default page of the user "public" to the page you have created.(by default it is WELCOME)
if there is an error in the user name or the password entered the portal still navigates to the default single-sign on page.(You have not changed the sign on page still)

Customize the APEX admin interface

Is it possible to to customize the APEX admin interface, might sound silly but what i am specifically looking at is replacing the Oracle Application Express Logo on top left corner with a custom logo.
Would anyone know how easy or difficult that is in case its possible.

Browser extensions like Firefox+Stylish are useful when it is beneficial to customise the builder UI—such as changing font sizes and text contrast. For browsers that don't have such extensions, local user style sheets can be created.

How to customize the logout page in release 2?

In release 1 I customized the login page and the change password page using the example provided by John Riggs. Now in release 2 there is a logout page that we also need to customize. LOGIN_URL in the table WWSSO_LS_CONFIGURATION_INFO$ is 'UNUSED UNUSED UNUSED' by default. I assume that the third UNUSED should be changed to point to the procedure that generates the (custom) logout page.
Which input parameters does a logout-page-procedure need to have?
Does anyone have some example PL/SQL code?

However, I just can't make it work.
When I try to deploy my .war file I get the follwoing error message:

My war file does contain a web.xml file! Here's the listing of the .war file:

How to make sure all the apex pages open up in new tab (or) new windows ?

- Lets say I create an Apex application in 4.0.2 with 10 pages.
- Now I wanted to check if there is some property in the Apex Admin or some settings which control this:
1) anything you click on application, either a page,field- it needs to open in a new tab in the same browser
2) anything you click on application, either a page,field- it needs to open in a new browser window

I normally say that 98% of questions asked here have been asked (and answered) before, but I think this is a new one...
What needs to open in a new tab/window? The target APEX page? It would be interesting to hear the reasoning behind this.
If this is referring to each page view, as Matt points out there are a number of technical reasons in both browsers and APEX that would make this difficult to achieve. However these are dwarfed by usability and accessibility concerns. Using such a UI model would drive most users insane in short order. More seriously it would confuse infrequent users and users with learning disabilities, and present significant orientation and navigation problems for visually impaired users and people using assistive navigation technologies.

How do I customize the error page

Our IT department has adopted a policy that requires a standard look and feel for all error pages encountered in any web application. To this end I need to be able to modify the error page that shows up on the browser when an unexpected error is encountered or a validation error is sent to a new page.
How can I modify this page? Is there a template for it, and if so where?
Any help is greatly appreciated,

I'm focused on Marc Lancaster's solution (Friendly Exception Messages), which is also interesting because it covers Ajax manipulation inside Apex (i'm using Apex 2.1).
But it seems that the apex.ajax.ondemand(...) line doesn't do anything to my application. Here is the code of this line :

How to customize the landing page of Power BI application in a Office 365 Site?

Hi,
While we navigate to the Power BI application by clicking the icon from the Site Contents of a Office 365 site, everything is loaded in it.
But we would like to customize / edit the page, so that all users will see the contents we put in.
We are SCA / having Full Control on the site but we have limited options in the Power BI application.
Please provide pointers on how to Edit / Customize the application.

This can be done, but you're going to need to get pretty dirty to get it done. Ready?
First, learn about userContent.css:

Now, the easiest way to learn about the elements on the error page is to go to the source. So, go to the chrome folder in the Firefox program folder, usually C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\chrome in Windows Explorer. Find the file called classic.jar and copy that somewhere else. Rename classic.jar to a .zip file and extract it, preferably to a folder called classic at whatever location you are at. Then, open the classic folder and navigate to ...\classic\skin\classic\global and find the file called netError.css.
Open the netError.css file in Wordpad (Notepad doesn't seem to work for me because then the lines all run together). See all the code that starts with the # symbol? Those are the things you can easily change. Copy all the #ELEMENT code into your userContent.css file.
Now you can start making changes to see what you like. I would make small changes at a time to see if it works the way you want. After each change, you need to close and restart Fx. Here's one to get you going:

That should make the box that surrounds the error message be red with square corners instead of white with a rounded corner border. Remember that before every semi-colon, you need to put !important or the change won't do anything.

Customize the start-page of firefox

I want to know how I can customize the start-up page of my firefox. For start-up page, I am talking about the page shown defaultly as I run the firefox.exe on my windows system and not talking about the home page set by a user(for e.g., if google.com set as home page for firefox).
I am not very sure what to call that page as, thus referring it as startup-page for the browser. Also attaching the snapshot for the page which I want to customize, just to clear the confusion, if any.
I want to make the changes only on my local computer, and as firefox is open source, hope its not illegitimate to do so. Kindly let me know how I can do this, if possible.

cor-el posted the "location" of the default homepage - in the '''omni.ja''' file within the Firefox program files folder. I can't tell anything more specific as I haven't been the omni.ja file since it was "new" in Firefox 4.0.
omni.ja gets updated with every Firefox version update - so you'll lose whatever changes you made every 6 weeks ''or possibly sooner with a "chemspill" security update. Which is why I learned to do minor changes with userChrome or userContent css file instead.''

How do I customize the index page?

I can't seem to find out how to edit the default index page (ie content, banner, etc.) without it losing the theme or the css file, which i guess is somehow linked to it? The page points to "collaboration/css/serverhome_static.css" which doesn't seem to exist?
Can you guys help me out?
Maybe point me to the right files? or just flat out tell me what to do would be nice :P

Hi,
The web pages produced for the groups are dynamic and under the control of WebServer. You can see the requests and responses in Console -> LOG FILES -> /Library/Logs -> WebServer which accesses the folder /usr/share/.
If you want to change something like the banner on the groups listing page you can:
Change banner.jpg in usr/share/collaboration/css/serverhome/img to the banner image of your choice (ensuring the size (length x height) is appropriate). Be sure to set Permissions on any files added to
Owner: root -rw, Group: wheel -r, Others: -r.
Be aware that /usr/share may be changed during a Apple software update. For user specific changes immune to updates the place to modify is at /Library/Application Support/Apple/WikiServer. That said I made changes to my banner display in /usr/share as described above in 10.5.0 that haven't been disturbed by 10.5.1 - 10.5.5.

You can look at your homescreen and press Menu > Options. Do you have an option there for Home Screen Preferences (to set the download folder, theme options , etc.?

Customize the BIEE Page

Dear All,
On the top-right corner of the BIEE page, there are several links like "Home", "Catalog" etc.
Is it possible to disable or hide the hyperlink?
I cannot find the xml or html file that define these links.

The following are the links that needs to go for the dashboard users.

I have found that saw.header.xml file located in
C:\bi11gbeta2\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\app\res\b_mozilla\common folder has the following tags :

C:\bi11gbeta2\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\msgdb\l_en\messages\uicmsgs folder has the text for the above message tags.
For example :

<WebMessage name="kmsgHeaderOpenCatalogDialog"><TEXT>Open...</TEXT></WebMessage>
So replacing or modifying above message tags will change the caption on UI -however this cannot be done user or group specific..Once change is done it will be applicable for all users.
Also header.js located in C:\OBIEE11G\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\app\res\b_mozilla folder where the header messages are referenced -this may need to be modified for removing the links (not just tesxt)
Note that you need to restart all services once you make any changes to xml files

IOS Content Filtering Using TrendMicro: Can I customize the block-page redirect-url?

I have IOS content filtering using the Trend Micro subscription service working on a 2911 running 15.1.(3)T3 with the security license option and a 30 day demo Trend subscription.
Once I figured out that the content filtering for Trend appears to be completely broken in 15.2 (even using docs for 15.2) I went back to 15.1 and it works great.
Everything seems great so far except I would like to have a more 'fancy' or custom blocked page where a user can have a couple links to either go to the trend micro reporting page http://global.sitesafety.trendmicro.com/result.php or some other page, and maybe some branding so they know the page is coming from our network and is not some fake security thing or phishing attempt or whatever.
I know I can use the 'parameter-map type urlfpolicy trend ' section to do a tiny bit of customization of the text that appears on the default blocked page display and there is an option for it to go to a simple redirect instead ('block-page redirect-url') but I wonder if anyone has any ideas on how to do more with either the built in page or the redirect-url to keep the information of what page the user was trying to access and why it was blocked (category etc.) while adding more features.

Oh, one last thing, this doesn't support any kind of 'user override' or anything like that does it? So that a network can have a filter applied but an admin could override the filtering to allow temporary access to something?

In principle, I don’t see any reason why not to display the name of the event directly, i.e. without any further actions like DOM events. After all, I believe that for most people looking at a calendar, the option of immediately identify the event is more important than just see that there is one at any given time.
Is there a reason why now you are only displaying the time of the event? What is the resource of the event name?
As you can see from my example on the holidays, the display segment of the calendar SQL can be quite complex and it can use concatenation of several columns, and also includes HTML code.

Personally, I don’t like using the onmouseover event to display new content (especially if this content should be retrieved from the database) because it’s hard to control how many of these events you are triggering (for nothing) on your way to the real target. In any case, the way to do it is to embed the appropriate HTML code within your SQL query. If you can’t display the information directly, I believe the simplest way is to use a link (the <a> tag) to redirect to a different location or to fire an event.
