Customize the notify-send window

Hello. I tried to customize notify-send's window by creating a ~/.notify-osd file with this code in it, as i read somewhere on the net. The problem is that it doesn't seem to work. Is there any other way to customize it ? Im using XFCE 4.

If you installed the xfce4 and xfce4-goodies package groups as recommended by the wiki and aren't sure what notification daemon you have, it's probably xfce4-notifyd.  For that,
xfce4-notifyd-config
will bring up the settings window for it, but it doesn't have all that many options.  As the xfce website puts it, "There aren't any other tunables; if you do not see it in the settings dialog, it's not changeable.", so if that isn't enough options for you, you may want to look at switching to notify-osd or something like dunst, depending on what kind of features and options you're looking for.

  • How do you customize the toolbar in Windows XP?

    How do you customize the toolbar in Windows XP? When I right click on the menu bar the "Customize..." option is there but it does absolutely nothing.
    Which brings me to the rhetorical question as to why it was necessary to shuffle everything around, was it broken? Did it not work? Since 2006 I've moved my mouse pointer almost instinctively to the left side of the screen, now all of a sudden I have to go right, is there a point?
    This is like supermarkets that as soon as you have figured out where everything is, they shuffle everything around and now you are stuck in mystery shopping. At least they have economic reasons. Meanwhile Firefox seems disposed to make itself look more like Chrome, but hey if I wanted Chrome I'd get it.

    Nope... Thanks, but Safe Mode does not do the trick. Oh sure you can move the buttons around and rearrange things to your liking, unfortunately it does not stay that way once you get out of Safe Mode.
    I guess if you use an XP machine you are doomed to use FF's interpretation of what it should look like, which is ass backwards from what it has been for the past FIVE YEARS!!! Why not? It seems XP users are now the Freddo's of computing.
    Someone should go to you developer's homes move everything around, forks in the basement, beds in the bathroom, TV up in the attic with the mice, dining table outside on the porch, see how you like it.

  • How can I customize the opened browser window

    I need to customize the browsers to tell them not to display the address bar or any toolbars. This will be a stand alone presentation that won't connect to the web but use the browser to present. I don't want any browser details. As close to a frame as possible like a pop up window.

    When you post a question and then repost more variations of that question, the threads can grow very confusing.  This one has been answered in one of your other threads.  I am locking it.

  • Is there any way to customize the size of windows in the presenter display?

    I have updated keynote to the newest version (6.0). Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I can customize any part of the presenter display. I can add or remove windows/panels, but not resize them. Is there really no way to do this? That would be a major drawback and would certainly make me consider going back to a 4+ year-old version of Keynote.

    Well, different people have different styles of giving different presentations to different audiences in different venues.
    When you have given a couple thousand presentations (and I mean this number literally), you know that requirements vary.  That's why a customizable presenter display was a godsend, probably the biggest selling point that Keynote had for serious presenters.
    You still can customize, turning features on and off, but you can't influence how a turned-on feature looks like size-wise.
    ("Looking over your shoulder" doesn't work in all venues, and probably would be recognized as the hallmark of an amateur presenter by most people in the audience who give a lot of presentations themselves.)
    You can export from Keynote '13 (Keynote 6) to Keynote '09 (Keynote 5).  Keynote '09 seems to run fine on Mavericks, by the way.
    Not being able to see the pointer on the presenter display when you use it to point out something on the slideshow display is one thing that was wrong in Keynote '09 and they haven't fixed in Keynote '13.
    (Now what I really want to get back is an alternative mode where I can edit the presentation on one screen and show it on the other at the same time...
    Powerpoint in Windows was great for that.  But that's a completely different style of presentation again.)

  • Customize the Picture-viewing window

    Hi, I just purchased iweb and played around with it. It is a really well-made software and I was able to design my first hand-made webpage in a short time.
    I just have one question and was wondering if anyone can help me.
    When you publish your site to a folder, i am aware that you are not able to use the slideshow palette which comes with .mac.
    Instead, you will get a viewing window when you click on a photo on your page.
    The viewing page comes with arrows that allows you to go through your gallery and has a white background. Is there anyway to change the backgroud color from white to black??
    I know that when you publish your site to a folder, you end up with a folder named "slideshow_assets". The folder contains all the components that are used to display the viewing window.
    Please let me know if someone have any idea how to change the background color, Thank you

    When I published my site using .Mac homepage, the slideshow did, in fact, have a white background as you point out here. When I upgraded to iPhoto 6 and iWeb, the slideshows now appear with a black background. I don't know that this is the answer ... but you may want to check your version of iPhoto that you are using to view the site. It seems to me the slideshow is dependent upon the viewer on the visitor's computer ...

  • Am I able to customize the NEW TAB window with my own selection of tiles?

    Whit this latest update most of my Tiles went away and one of the ones I have shows up on a back page and not on the landing page. I'd like to know how to customize my Tiles (add ones I need)
    Thank you

    Hi, in essence, you can just drag a bookmark to the New Tab page - you can also use drag and drop to rearrange them if you wish. There is more in [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/new-tab-page-show-hide-and-customize-top-sites#firefox:mac:fx35 this article.]

  • Customize the Deployment of Windows 8.1

    Hello,
    I am able to successfully use MDT 2013 and WDS to deploy windows 8.1
    My query is  : After the deployment completes the installation of the Install Image and reboots, it starts installing the default Windows 8.1 apps, although I had removed them manually in the Install image.
    Is there a way to stop Windows 8.1 from installing the apps, atleast after the deployment. I have seen a few users suggest Powershell but it hasn't worked for me. Any other suggestions?
    Regards,

    To give you an idea with the WIM, this is what I want to do :
    Dism /Mount-Image /ImageFile:C:\InstallImage.wim /index:1 /MountDir:C:\Mount
    Dism.exe /Image:c:\Mount /Get-Provisionedappxpackages
    The when I know the package name,
    Dism.exe /Image:C:\Mount /Remove-ProvisionedAppxPackage /PackageName:Microsoft.BingFinance_2014.221.1803.4346_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe
    But I am getting :
    Error: 3
    The system cannot find the path specified.
    The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log
    Looks like its not finding the app inside the image, because I had already uninstallled it before Sysprep.
    Takes me back to where I started, before sysprep I had manually removed them!
    So, stuck there now! :(

  • Customize the Content Wizard in SiteStudio

    Hello,
    We are currently using SiteStudio with Webcenter content , and we would like to customize the "Content Wizard" windows that appears in contribution mode.
    Basically, We would like the Region definition select dropbox to be sorted with the title field instead of content id field.
    I have found that the file "contentwizard.js" contains all the definition for building the select input and therefore want to edit it.
    However, it seems that the file is in different locations:
    Oracle_ECM1/ucm/idc/components/SiteStudio/publish/resources/wcm/custom/sitestudio/contentwizard/contentwizard.js
    /ucm/cs/weblayout/resources/wcm/custom/designer/contentwizard/contentwizard.js

    /ucm/cs/weblayout/resources/wcm/designer/contentwizard/contentwizard.js
    /ucm/cs/weblayout/resources/wcm/sitestudio/contentwizard/contentwizard.js
    etc..
    Do you know if it is possible to edit this file, and what is the best way to do that?
    Thanks in advance,
    Leo

    Take a look here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/webcenter.1111/e12405/wcadm_documents.htm#BABCECDH

  • Notify popup window size

    Hi,
    Is there a way to change the Notify popup window size (especially width)?
    Sometimes I got emails where the subject is quite long, and quite important information is at the end of the subject. The default width of the popup window is not enough to show the full subject.
    Thanks in advance for any tips.

    Hi,
    Unfortunately I too can't figure out a way to do this.
    Perhaps one of the GroupWise guru's knows something that we don't ;)
    Cheers,

  • Customize the author notification from the dispostion

    I have grown leaps and bounds with my URM knowledge since my last posting, but I am still running into some things that throw me for a loop. This is one of them.
    I created a disposition, and the action I selected was Notify Author. When the author gets the email notification from the disposition, it is very generic. I need to be able to customize the email, based on the disposition step. Another words, if the step is 'when expired' do ' notify author’ I would like the subject line of the email to say ' Content expiration notice'. If the step is to create content server archive, notify author, I would like the subject line to say ' Content Server Archive notice'.
    I cannot figure out how to customize the notify authors piece in the dispositions actions. Please help! Thanks :)

    While I am waiting for someone to respond, I continue to research in hopes of finding the answer.
    I found something that to me seems like the answer but could it really be that simple?
    Here is what I found. Please let me know if you think it will work for me.
    When I click on 'Administration' and then 'Configure Records Management'. if I click on Configure>>Disposition Actions>>Custom
    Then create a new custom disposition (which I never knew I could do!)
    In this custom disposition action, for the actionservice, I select RMA_NOTIFY_AUTHORS_SERVICE
    Then in the action service parameters (this is the tricky part),
    I put
    --<$wfMailSubject="Contract ID <$dDocName$> will expire on <$dOutDate$> . "$>
    <$wfNotify(dDocAuthor, "user")$>--
    ok so what I was trying to put in the action service parameters I am pretty sure is totally wrong!  What sort of paramters can I put in there?
    then, I went back to my retention schedule, and changed my disposition action to use this new custom action.
    I am anxious to hear any opinions on this since I am still a newbie.
    any thoughts on this?

  • Mail option "Send Windows-Friendly Attachments" is grayed-out

    I use Mail 4.2 under OS 10.6.2.
    The option "Send Windows-Friendrly Attachments" is grayed-out.
    Is there a reason for that?
    Could that mean that it in non functional?
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks!
    I understand what you mean and that was the explanation that I gave myself, but without really knowing if I was right. Your explanation seems logical.
    I was raising this point, because I have a problem sending attached ".jpg" photos to a friend in Europe (France) who uses Outlook under Windows Vista. He keeps telling me that I am at the origin of the problem, this problem being that he receives the attachment within the core of the text and that the file is in ".bmp" rather than ".jpg"!
    Otherwise, I am not having the problem with others Windows users, who also use Outlook (under XP, Vista, or 7). They all receive the ".jpg" file as such and can open it by clicking twice on it, and also save it as such.
    But I'm trying to see if I do something wrong before I try to convince this friend that the problem may be on his side. In which case, I also would like to help him in finding out what the problem is (but I'm not expert of the "dark side").

  • [SOLVED] notify-send from a daemon

    Hi,
    I have configured halevt (a HAL device manager) to run notify-send so I get a notification every time I insert or remove a drive. The thing is, since halevt runs as a daemon at boot, every time it runs notify-send I get this error:
    libnotify-Message: Unable to get session bus: /usr/bin/dbus-launch terminated abnormally with the following error: Autolaunch error: X11 initialization failed.
    What I don't really understand is why if I restart de daemon from my Xorg session (with sudo) it works fine. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    UPDATE
    I resolved the issue with a different approach.
    The solution, for those interested, is in post #8.

    Thank you
    If you are interested I have an updated version of the config file that more or less accomplishes what I wanted at the beginning.
    First, there is the daemon config (only mounts the filesystems): /etc/halevt/halevt.xml
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE halevt:Configuration [
    <!ENTITY HAS-LABEL "hal.volume.label & !hal.volume.label = ">

    <halevt:Insertion exec="halevt-mount -u $hal.udi$ -p cdrom$hal.block.minor$"/>
    </halevt:Device>
    <!-- Mount non-CDRom labeled devices -->

    </halevt:Device>
    </halevt:Configuration>
    (Notice that I have removed the -o sync parameter from the mount commands. Writing operations in automounted devices were ridiculously slower)
    And then, there is the user config file (only manages the notify-send commands): $HOME/.halevt/halevt.xml
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE halevt:Configuration [
    <!ENTITY HAS-LABEL "hal.volume.label & !hal.volume.label = ">

    </halevt:Configuration>
    This way, you have the daemon automounting at boot, without needing an X session, and a second instance of the daemon that only executes the notify-send messages once you enter xorg
