Customize time intervals between songs

How do I customize the time interval between tracks on an imported cd? I only see that you can set a standard 1 sec, 2 sec etc. between songs.
Thanks.
Rich

It should be in the setting on your PC or Mac under my apple TV.

  • How do you change the setting in iTunes for the time-space between songs in your playlist?

I need help changing my setting in iTunes, the time-space between songs.  In setting up iTunes I selected the "three-second" and now wish I'd selected "five-seconds".  Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks.

    Thank you Chris.
This was not the exact solution for my problem but by misreading your instructions I accidentally found the answer. Just as simple as you suggest. I had already ensured the Crossfade was unchecked in iTunes. What had actually changed with the last software update was the settings on my ipod. I can't believe I never checked this before.
    The solution:
    ipod settings > Playback
    Audio Crossfade = "Off"

  • Adjusting time lapse between songs

I would like there to be 1 second between songs when playing them instead of 5 to 6 seconds - any idea how to adjust the time lapse between playing songs in a playlist?

It should be in the setting on your PC or Mac under my apple TV.

  • ITunes library grayed out all the time- in between songs played. Must click on cloud icon and wait between each song played.

Whenever I invoke iTunes (doesn't matter if I'm opening the program or simply undocking it), my library is gray, and the little "cloud icon" next to "Music" has a horizontal lightning bolt in it.
If I click on the cloud icon with the bolt (which doesnt respond consistently, somtimes takes 3 or more clicks) it will change to animated diagonal stripes. When this is finished (takes 10 seconds to 10 minutes), I have access to my library.
Sometimes it lets me get through an album before the process restarts. Sometimes I have to go through this between each song. Generally, I perform the process for the first two songs, and then it will play the rest of the album uninterrupted.
Internet connection is always fine, I have confirmed in several instances.
I have added screen shots below... I couldn't add the "working library" step, because as of writing this, I can't get past step 2. So no music for me this morning.
BELOW: Greyed out library, step 1
BELOW: Animated striped icon, library still greyed out, step 2

Thanks for the reply. Did this just now, and no change.
FYI- I have deauthorized and reauthorized, signed out of my iTunes account, deleted pLists, etc before posting here. None of which affected the problem.

  • How can I reduce the time between songs to zero for seemless mixing

Hi, Ive only just got my 5th generation Ipod and was wondering if its possible to reduce the time gap between songs to zero. I.E a lot of Cd's and albums I have are mixed so it doesnt seem there is a pause between each song but when I put the cd's onto my ipod there is still a pause.
For example I have a 2 many djs album which is heavily mixed with a new song every 30 seconds so it is a bit of a nuisance if there is a pause every 30 seconds.

Your question gets asked on a daily basis, and has been answered many times. If you search for 'gapless playback' you'll see how just how many people inquire about this.
In short... the iPod does not support gapless playback.
If you want to eliminate the gaps, one workaround is to join the individual tracks together, and play them as one single track. You can do this by reimporting the CD into iTunes using the 'Join CD Tracks' feature.
See Step 3 in this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93079
If you'd like to send feedback to Apple to ask that they include gapless playback as a feature in future revisions of the iPod firmware, you can do so on this feedback page.

  • How to adjust time between songs during playback?

I remember being able to adjust the time (space) between songs during playback. Can't seem to find that any longer. Is this adjustment only available when you burn a CD? Thanks.

This article seems to suggest you can adjust the time with crossfade.  It mentions a slider you can adjust.  I'm not on my Mac at the moment so can't verify.

  • HT1900 I want to add space between songs, not shrink it. Can I do that?

I want to add space between songs, not shrink it. Can I do that?

Actually, it is possible to add a gap - to a Playlist of songs.
If you want to add a time gap between songs (that wasn't on the album), in iTunes, or for use on an iDevice, this is possible, by creating a Playlist of the songs and adding a new specially created "song file" between each song. You can whatever gap you want.
If this is what you want, post back and I can give you details.

  • How can I increase the transition time between songs on my IPOD?  I do not want a fade.

How can I increase transition time between songs on my IPOD?  I do not want a fade.

If Crossfade is OFF, the fadeout is actually part of the recording, so you won't be able to change how it fades.
If you want to make the silence (gap) between songs longer, there is only one setting I know of that relates to the gap between songs, and it is in iTunes.
Do a Get Info on a song in iTunes (File -> Get Info OR Cmd-I from keyboard) and go to the Options tab in the Info window.  There is a setting called Part of gapless album.  If that checkbox is checked, the songs are played with no gap.
I don't know of any other setting in iTunes or the iPod that makes the gap between songs longer.

  • I want to eliminate the time between songs in my movie

I want to eliminate the time between songs in a movie I a created.  Even though they "but up" visually, there is a gap between the ending of one song and the start of the next.

The easiest way to do this is to drag the songs in and drop them on the frame of video where you want then to start. The song will appear as a ribbon below the video clips rather than as a solid color in the background. You can drag this ribbon to the left or right. So if you have 2 songs, you can drag the second song to the left so that it overlaps with the end of the first song.
Here is a good video tutorial for how audio works in iMovie.
The method I am referring to is used for sound effects in the tutorial, but it works equally well for music.

  • How can I measure the time difference between spikes (interspike intervals)

I have used NI USB-6008 (DAQ) to sample a continous signal, after sampling I compared the amplitude of the resulted signal with a value. If the amplitude is greater than a specific value (threshold) then it can pass. Now I want to measure the time difference between the resulted samples. The samples look like spikes. (May be if I trigger a timer, then I can measuer the time difference, but I have not seen such a timer).
    Thanks in advance,
    Saraydin

Oops just occured to me that you are using a 6009 which is not very fast, 48ks/sec, this will not get you very much time resolution and you could have issues seeing much of a 50 us sample.  Another approach is to use the counter but you would have to preprocess the spikes to generate a trigger for the counter.

  • Taking a long time between songs, not skipping

My IPOD will not skip, and it takes a couple minutes between songs. I have tried everything I can think of, any suggestions??

    Hi JMB,
The printer goes through cleaning processes whenever you turn the printer on, whenever you perform a print job, and in the event that you leave the printer on, it uses an internal clock to determine how long the printer has gone without a cleaning. The cleaning function helps the printer to suck air bubbles or ink itself from the nozzle and thus prevents print quality degradation or nozzle clogging.
Print quality and media type settings can also determine how long it takes for an item to copy.  For faster copying, you will want to ensure that plain paper is selected as the paper type (unless using a photo or other type of paper), and that either the FAST or STANDARD print quality setting is selected.
    Hope this helps!

  • I need to add a gap between songs when burning a CD

I just upgraded to iTunes 9.2.0.61, hoping that it would solve my problem. I need to add (yes, ADD) a gap between songs. I'm burning a CD to be used during a performance, and there's a reason that I need 10 seconds of silence after the first song. I believe in previous versions I could add a gap between songs...using Get Info, then Options, but now it just gives me a start and end time for songs. How can I add a 10 second gap between the first two songs?

Add a track consisting of 10 seconds of silence. I made you one in crystal clear MP3 stereo. You can get it here: http://rcpt.yousendit.com/907964971/c4d2c9e22762a8911f4e431a1e2a4e2c
Just put it in the library and then add it to your playlist wherever you need it.
iTunes lets you add a gap between songs, but only up to 5 seconds, and it has to be the same every time.

  • Adding space between songs on my playlist

how do i add space between songs on my ipod mini??? i have tried to add space using a download from a "jazzercise" site but my ipod will not sync it...i need about 10 seconds between songs ...help!!!

Create a 10-second audio track that is nothing but silence. Add the track to iTunes, then add it as many times as needed to your playlist between each song.

  • Banshee 1.6.1: Lag between songs Solved

EDIT: Banshee now appears to function correctly with the latest upgrade to sqlite3-3.7.1-1.
EDIT: The workaround to fix the lag is to downgrade SQLite from v3.7 to v3.6 - thanks Halfdream
I've been trying to solve a problem I've been having since yesterday with Banshee, it has become extremely laggy. It lags ~25 seconds at start up with a blank frozen window. Then once I can start selecting songs, it lags additionally between each song.
I've tried fully removing Banshee and removing ~/.config/banshee-1 & ~/.gconf/apps/banshee-1. After reinstallation of Banshee, it starts up beautifully with no lag. I imported around 5 Artists, works great. However once I keep adding songs (I was manually importing each Artist folder), the lag began to increase with each additional import. By the time I got to ~ 2000 songs, it was at around the same amount of lag I was encountering before. I've tried disabling all extensions with no luck.
It may be important to note that this lag between songs occurs longer when I am playing an on shuffle. If I turn off shuffle the lag decreases between individual songs - but it's still noticable.
Here's a debug log of Banshee after starting and switching a couple songs.
I'm not sure what this is -> "[1 Debug 10:35:35.796] TrackInfoDisplay RenderAnimation: 4.00 FPS" but the FPS does seems to drop significantly each time a new song is played.

  • Music stops between songs?

There's a huge thread that tried to address this problem, but it's almost completely useless because of the myriad other problems mixed into the thread.
For three years, itunes has had problems playing my music.  In between songs, it hangs about 3 seconds into the next song, whether I'm listening directly on itunes or streaming to my AppleTV.  If I go next and back on the controls, that song will start playing, so the media is not corrupted.  I've patched every component in my setup for years, and it's never been fixed.  There are no errors or error logs to check (thanks Apple).  This problems comes and goes, but it almost always happens when I have guests over.
My library was on an external Hard Disk in a USB enclosure, which is a supported setup according to Apple, but I believe it's the source of my problems.  I moved my entire collection to the internal HD and the problem is now gone.
My theory, which seems to fit with a number of other people's set up and problems, is that some hard disks are set to 'spin down' after a couple of minutes to save energy.  When itunes tries to acces the next song, it times out waiting for the disk and just freezes.  I've tried to keep the disk spinning, but disk caching seems to defeat my methods.  If you have a NAS or external HD and have this problem, I believe that's the root cause.
If anyone else has a similar setup that wants to chime in, please do.  Keep in kind that this may be OSX specific, and that some external HDs may have a default spin down setting long enough to prevent the problem.  If you have a different problem with itunes, please don't flood this thread with variations unless they are relevant.

I have same issue. I have all music stored on a Network Attached Server (NAS) and I can upload new music to this location fine over my wireless network. I can also edit information about each song within iTunes, although I have to put up with a spinning beachball sometimes while iTunes is having a think.
I never had drops before, but now the audio cuts out even though the track is still playing - as seen from the progress bar in iTunes. So some information is being streamed but sadly not the audio portion - reliably at least. And the Aiprot signal is strong.
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it:  bought downloads, files ripped from personal CDs or my mp3 rips from vinyl. Whatever the type of file, Airplay has an intermittent problem. In fact it's not just intermittent (cutting out at regualr times such as the end of each track). It's RANDOMLY intermittent. Sometimes you get a whole track without trouble, other times it drops every 3, or 10 , or 60 seconds.
It's like Apple have introduced a roulette plug-in to Airplay. Fun, huh?
It's incredibly frustrating given that a) I had no such issue with Airtunes on previous computers b) I just bought a new Macbook Pro and c) Apple market this functionality to consumers as part of a home entertainment set-up, and that's not really happening for me right now.  My set-up is effectively useless and my chance to impress dinner party guests has been blown (kidding).
At first I thought it might be a hardware issue with the Airport receiver inside my new Macbook Pro but that doesn't stack up: I have no other issues using my wireless network on the new laptop - as I say organizing music within iTunes or doing anything else wirelessly such as streaming from YouTube, works fine.
I do hope someone from Apple is listening because I think Airplay requires a patch. That's my hunch.
