Customize Toolbar, but specific to folder
I want to add a few applescripts to a finder window, but I want it only to work when in a specific folder. Can I customize the toolbar but only for that folder (Trash) and not all.
I know how to Customize the toolbar, but it effects all.
Nope. All changes to the Finder window toolbar are global.

"Customize Toolbar" won't bring back icons
Macbook Pro OS X 10.5.8 - Safari toolbar icons (address, search, back/forward, etc.) went missing . They're present as options under "Customize Toolbar," but selecting them does nothing, whether I click and drag, right click, select individually, or as default.
Try this.
Previous page command + [
Next page command + ]
Clicking back and forth arrows was much easier.

Microsoft Word & Excel Permanently Customize Toolbars
How do I permanently customize my toolbars for Word and Excel? I have customized my toolbars for both Word and Excel by going to Tools, then Customize Toolbars but when I reboot my computer I lose the settings completely in Word (don't even have the option of choosing my customized toolbar under View), and I lose the Formula Bar in Excel (though I get it back by going to View and choosing Formula Bar) but I want ALL the customization I've made to the Toolbars to stay permanently. Any ideas? Thanks much.
When you customize the toolbar, it should remain changed if the normal template file is updated. And, that should update automatically whenever you make a change---obviously that's not happening.
So, open Word and go to Preferences---Save, and make sure that the Prompt to save changes to the Normal template (or something worded like that) is selected. Selecting that is not really necessary to save your changes, but sometimes it will prompt Word (Office 2004) to save the changes if there is a glitch in the system somewhere. Then make your changes to the toolbar, then go to Page Setup and click on default for the paper size---that will prompt Word to open the Normal template and accept your changes.
That should work--if not, post back and we'll see if we can't get this sorted out.

Installed 2.1.4 on an iMac with 3GB Ram using 10.6.8 OSX.
Experiencing two problems for now.
1. Attempts to customize toolbar has no response. The boxes appear but no screen with the tools to import.
2. I did the standard install over AP 1.5 and all library photos for 1.5 appear in 2.1.4 but
when opening a project/folder picture it will open and the "Loading" message appears but the wheel is not moving?
I'm using 2.1 over 3.0 because I have it and not ready to spend more until I get this working. I plan to go to LION OSX
once Aperture functons correctly.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
GeorgeUpdated to snow leopard and had the same problem that when the thumbnails where placed on the bottom I could only scroll left or right when no picture was marked... so I placed the thumbnails to the left side and scrolling worked normally even with a a marked picture...I also had bad color sync problems and switching screens would cause my windows to become almost black and unreadable..... I reinstalled my Leopard clone drive shortly there after... oh well... it took a while before leopard was ready for professional use.... I didn't really expect Snow leopard to be different... I will check back in at 10.6.4 or so LOL

Lost my url address window. I clicked on "Customize toolbar" from "View" but there were no instructions on what to do next. How do I get url window back? Thanks!
Hello:
Simply drag what you want (view>customize toolbar) to the toolbar.

My button extension appears in add-on list, but not in customize toolbar list
I have an extension that shows up in the add-on list, but not in the list for customize toolbar. I went exactly through the steps in https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Custom_Toolbar_Button I also downloaded the stumble button extension and had the same issue. I've tried this on a windows xp, and vista machine, no luck.
Does this version work?

I sync a specific photos folder from my computer to my iPhone. However, that folder was lost due to a crash on my computer. But all of the Synced Photos are still on my iPhone. How do I retrieve all those photos from my iPhone?
ManSinha wrote:
Do you have a Windows computer or Mac?
If Windows - and it has iTunes installed - you should see an Autoplay explorer when you connect your iPhone - this should let you see the pictures and transfer them back to your computer
Wrong. That only works for pictures in the Camera Roll, not those in the Photo Album app. -
I have tried the solutions of showing toolbar (which is not an option under view) and then going into customize toolbar where I try and drag the default tool bar with "address and search" and everythig comes up but "address and search." Any suggestions?
Thanks!Try SHIFT+COMMAND+| (the bar or pipe key under the delete key)
or try zoom out (COMMAND -) -
I used the same installation file, but on 1 pc, the 'open new tab' button is available in the 'customize toolbar' menu and can be dragged and dropped onto the navigation bar. On the other pc, the 'open new tab' button/icon is not even available for dragging and dropping. I uninstalled firefox completely, including settings and preferences, then reinstalled, but that did not correct the missing button.
Hi,
Please try '''Restore Default Set''' in the '''Customize...''' window. If it's still not visible, one reason could be that the button is already placed on the toolbar but may be hidden behind another icon or toolbar.

I have a problem that I cannot remember when it started, but its been some time and I've worked around it ever since. The problem is that when I want to customize Safari's toolbar, no slide out window appears but even clicking on the back and forward buttons or any button for that matter doesn't work! Its as if the customize toolbar page is invisible and it even prevents me from manually typing in a new address!
Only solution I have is to quit Safari.Norm,
The first and easiest troubleshooting step involves replacing/refreshing the com.apple.Safari.plist file.
Quit Safari and find the com.apple.Safari.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Drag the file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart and check Safari for normal behavior.

Can't customize toolbar Safari 5.1.2
I have another issue with Safari 5.1.2. I can no longer customize the toolbar. I deleted the plist to try to solve the back forward arrow issue I mentioned in another discussion (this did not solve it). That meant I lost my toolbar icons I had put on. Now I can put them back. When I try to customize, space is made tor the buttons, but the buttons don't appaer. The space is there where the buttons should be, but no buttons.
Back to FireFox again.Fred...
When I try to customize, space is made tor the buttons, but the buttons don't appaer.
You are dragging objects straight up to the toolbar from the Customize Toolbar window? Or the default bar? Will it drag up?
If dragging up doesn't work, quit Safari.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari.
Move the Cache.db from the com.apple.Safari folder file to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari. Try View > Customize Toolbar -
Can't Customize Toolbar - it's all gone
kids nuked my toolbar and all the buttons and the url bar are gone. I right-clicked and selected "customize toolbar" and tried to drag them back onto the toolbar, but nothing will go. They don't move at all and nothing adds back to the bar!!! What's going on and how can I get my controls back???
TIA,
FergFerg,
Try all of the procedures listed in Speed Up Safari. I am specifically interested to find out if you have any Safari Add-ons.
You may also have a Contextual Menu problem. Instead of right clicking, have you tried the Safari menu, Safari>View>Customize Address Bar...Drag your favorite item into the toolbar...?
You should also consider updating to OS X 10.4.6 using the Combo Update, and the Security Update 2006-003 Mac OS X 10.4.6 Client (PPC).

I followed the instructions on your site and Roboform's site, but Roboform doesn't appear in the Customize Toolbar window nor does it appear in the Extensions list. How can I get the Roboform Toolbar back?
Here's an interesting bit: iTunes will let me restore my iPod touch from backup: it's still running iOS 4.3.3. I figured as much... there's backups showing in the Preferences -> Devices list for both devices (and even my old, long gone iPod touch 2G), but my iPhone (on iOS5) isn't giving me any such option. I remember I had to downgrade before to get the backup restored (something went haywire in the setup assistant, and I couldn't restore a backup from iTunes there)... If it was possible to go to iOS 5.0 rather than 5.0.1 I would just do the same thing again, but iOS 5.0.1 isn't an option. I attached a screenshot. Hopefully Apple can get this nonsense sorted out; I think iOS 5 might be the root of this, somehow.

My toolbar is missing and there is a button at the top left that asks me to "Please re-install the Toolbar" but when I click on it nothing happens???
Then when I start Mozilla I get a long delay before it launches and a script running error "A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.
Script: chrome://tavgp/content/libs/include.js:595"
How do I solve these issues???No idea - and you provide no clues
what version of iPHoto do you have? Of the OS? is the iPhoto icon you are speaking of in the Dock?
re-read your post and try to provide information using standard Mac terms since we can not see you or your computer and only have your worrds to let us try to help you
Somehow my "IPhoto" icon now says "Preview". When I click on "Preview" nothing opens up except the bar says Preview. When I click on the Preview on the bar, a box opens up with different items, except when I click on any of them, there is nothing there. The only thing that work is the "quit preview". However, it is still there where my IPhoto icon should be. I can't get into my IPhoto. How do I get rid of this "Preview" and how did it end up taking over the IPhoto icon???
If you go to your Applications folder and double click on iPhoto what happen?

Can´t access customize toolbar window in Aperture 3
Dear Apple community,
When I call "customize toolbar" in Aperture 3.2.4, the window with additional icon options is missing, inlcuding the "done" button (see attached screenshot), but I´m able to move existing icons arround and the rectangular spaces appear. To end the customization mode, Aperture has to be restarted. In other applications there seems to be no problem.
My Sytem is a MacBook Pro, 2.4 Ghz (Core 2 Duo) with 2 GB RAM with MacOS 10.6.8
Aperture was installed from the AppStore and runs in 64 bit mode.
So far, I tried to remove "com.apple.Aperture.plist", with no effect.
I did not reinstall Aperture yet, because the current version in the AppStore seems to require 10.7. Would I still be able to install the latest version running on 10.6.8 from the AppStore?
The Problem has been reported before (https://discussions.apple.com/message/17081479#17081479), but I couldn´t find the solution.
Below, I copied the console report.
Thank you very much for your help,
Felix

That really suggest a system wide trouble - hardware, MacOS X system, or Aperture.app.
Currently I´m wondering, if there are still remains of Aperture 2 around, which could interfere with Aperture 3.
Did Aperture 3 ever work previously correctly? Then I do not think, that there are older receipts from Aperture 2 interfering.
Does the console output (see first post) mean anything to you?
The Console output shows only calls to methods from the standard frameworks that are part of MacOS X, no frameworks that are installed inside the Aperture application. But Aperture might be calling wrong, outdated frameworks or GUI-elements (nib-files) inside the Aperture package may be missing. SO I cannot really tell, if the problem is with the system or with Aperture.
I assume you have done all ritual fixes like rebooting, Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM,
You might try to reinstall Snow Leopard and see, if that fixes it. If not, contact Apple and ask for an Aperture installer.

Léonie
