Customizing bookmarks?

I've many bookmarks. And, it takes me a long time to scroll down the long list. How can I customize my bookmark list so I segregate them into categories? Sort of a personal bookmark's 1,2,3 etc.
And, be able to view those bookmark categories in the menu bar, like I view the current bookmarks link.
Is something like that possible? Thank you.

Easiest is to open the Bookmarks Manager (Library; Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) and create new folders as you like and use cut and paste to move the selected bookmarks to their own folders.<br />
You can select more than one in the usual way with the Shift key and a left click or use the cursor Down key or use the Ctrl key to select individual bookmarks.

  • How to make a custom bookmark in Adobe Acrobat DC

    Hello!
Is it possible to make my own bookmarks in a PDF I'm reading?

    Hi,
You can add custom bookmarks in Acrobat DC for Android.  But the feature has not been supported in Acrobat DC for iOS yet.
    Thank you for your inquiry.

  • How do I make a custom bookmark in Safari?

    Hello,
When I click "Add a Bookmark" from the Bookmarks bar, it will only let me edit the name of the bookmark, but not the html address.  How do I put in my own addresses without actually being on a particular page?
      Thank you

    Hello Marty,
Once the page has been bookmarked, click on "Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks."
Find where you stored the bookmark (I find making folders the best option).  The bookmark will be shown in the table below.
Right clicking on the left hand side of the table edits the title but if you right click on the right hand side, you can edit the actual HTML address.
I'm working on your second question but I don't have Pages on this Mac.  It is, however, on my Mac at home.
    Hope this helps,

  • Custom Bookmark Icons?

I Think Yosemite Is Beautiful OS, But Safaris Bookmark tabs icons are bit ugly. And they usually don't match together.
Is there any way to change these icons?

Here's how to modify your toolbar icons icons in 4. It's not elegant, and it requires that you have an earlier version of FF3 somewhere, but it does work.
Since FF3 and FF4 both use the same '''bookmarks.html''' file (where icon information is stored), you do what you want with FaviconPicker in a version that works with it (before 3.6.11) and then export the bookmarks.html file somewhere, where you can then import it in 4.
I've been able to do this with an old laptop that has FaviconPicker working wth FF3, but you could up set both FF3 and FF4 on the same machine, using the instructions in
[[Install Firefox 4 Beta alongside Firefox 3.6?|http://superuser.com/questions/160986/install-firefox-4-beta-alongside-firefox-3-6]]
This doesn't work if you use Firefox Portable 4. The way the portable version reads the bookmarks.html has some differences. (I wasted a lot of time finding this out.)
Before you start this project, make a backup (export to a different folder) of your bookmarks.html file in 4, just in case...

  • Custom Bookmark Format for Law Firm

I have a client who is a transactional attorney and she needs to deliver a "closing cd" to all partied involved, which is basically a copy of all the documents for the current RE deal.  She showed me an examlpe of another law firms closing CD and asked me to prepare hers in a similar format.
I'm having difficulty figuring this out.  I have 24 seperate PDF files, all combined equals approximatly 599 pages.  I'm using Acrobat X and can easily created one single PDF file with the bookmarks being the name of the files being added.  All is good until this point.  When I browse the bookmarks, it takes me to that section of the 599 page document and this is what I need, but I only want the page count of the particular file that was attached, not the combined of all files.  This way, if her clients say needs to print the Purchase Contract, he/she would simply click on that bookmark and it would show page 1 of 21 and they can hit print for that section only.  The way it is now, they would have to go to that bookmark and than scroll ahead to figure out what pages go with that file.
I hope I'm making some sense becasue this is driving me nuts.
Oh, the way the file in the sample cd she gave me is set-up is...if you right click on a bookmark, hit properties and then actions, they have it set-up to open a file on click.  I tried that and it opens it for sure but in a different window, closing the original window.
    Thank you.

You can use the precursor to PDF Portfolios, which were known as Packages. A package is simply a PDF with one or more file attachments. (A Portfolio is too, but the base PDF is a special type of PDF that includes the Flash-based navigator.) You have to decide on what you want the base document to be, which can be a single page PDF that simply has links on the page to the attached PDF. It can also have bookmarks that link to the attached PDF, which is what you want.
Start by opening the base PDF in Acrobat. To add file attachments in Acrobat 10, select: Tools > Content > Attach a File
and select one or more of the documents you want to include in the package. Repeat, if necessary, until you've attached all the documents.
To set up a bookmark to a location in an attached document, add a new bookmark as you normally would. By default, it will link to the current view of the base document, but you want to change this. Delete the default bookmark action (right-click > Properties > Actions) and add one that is the type "Go to a page view". When prompted with the "Create Go to View" dialog, double-click the corresponding attached file in the Attachments pane at the bottom of the Acrobat window and navigate to the page you want the bookmark to open to, set the zoom and location, and click the "Set Link" button. You probably want the document to open in its own window, so go back and edit the bookmark you just added (Bookmark Properties > Actions > select the action > Edit) and in the "Open in" dropdown, select "New Window". Repeat for any other bookmarks to the same or other attached documents that you want to create. When one of the bookmarks is clicked, Acrobat will open the corresponding attached document in a separate window at the page and view you set up.
If you set up the base document to include links to the attached document, the process for setting up the links is similar to the way you set up the bookmarks.

  • Lost bookmarks in Bookmarks Toolbar on recent upgrade. Toolbar still appears but, it's blank. How do I get them back?

I am using Firefox 3.6.13 under Windows Vista Home Premium.
After a recent login to Firefox, I noticed my that the bookmarks from my Bookmarks Toolbar were missing. The toolbar is still present; however, the individual items (marks) are gone and the Bookmarks Toolbar is blank.
The Bookmarks Toolbar IS present under "Organize Bookmarks".
How do I get the custom bookmarks to reappear on my Bookmarks Toolbar.

Check that you still have the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * Make sure that you have the "Bookmarks Toolbar" visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * Check in "View > Toolbars > Customize" that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize window onto the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" then click the "Restore Default Set" button

  • What happened to my Safari Bookmarks on my iPad?

Just went to Bookmarks in Safari on my iPad, and discovered there were only a few basic bookmarks left, like Apple, etc. all of my custom bookmarks are gone. I have done nothing new to my iPad since I last referenced a bookmark. I see no settings which would affect this. So what's going on here?
My iPhone still retains all of my custom bookmarks as does my Mac. Everything is synced with iCloud, and all of the bookmarks are there too.
So why did my iPad suddenly delete them?

See if this brings them back.
Quit Safari completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Adobe Reader Bookmarks

I have all of my Aviation publications in .PDF format.  I keep them on my android tablet (Samsung Tab S 8.4).  With the adobe reader app for android, it allows you to bookmark pages (along with renaming the page you bookmarked).   Also I have these publications on the acrobat.com cloud, and when I open the file from the cloud on my phone the bookmarks I created are there.
Here is my issue.  When I transfer the file to my phone (Galaxy Note 4) and open that same .pdf file from the tablet on the phone, those bookmarks I created are not present on the phone.   Same if I upload the file from the tablet to my google drive and then try to open the file on my phone, the bookmarks are not there.
Is there a way that when I save a .pdf file (save it to anything other than acrobat.com) that I edited (i.e. bookmarked, highlighted...) on my tablet, that I can see those bookmarks on my computer or my phone.  Doing everything through the acrobat.com cloud is fine for me, but I want to share these files with others that I work with, but all they get is the file with things highlighted or comments, they don't get the custom bookmarks I made.

    Hi,
The PDF bookmarks listed under 'Table of Contents'  are a part of the PDF while the user added bookmarks are the custom bookmarks added by the user to aid in reading. On moving a particular file from one location to another, the user added bookmarks are not retained. They, however, come back if you move the file to its original location. We are aware of this issue and tracking it internally. Also, the user added bookmarks are a feature of Adobe Reader on Android only, hence you will not be able to view them on your desktop or an iOS device.
If you upload the file to Acrobat.com, these bookmarks must persist and should be available across all your android devices until you move the file from one folder to another. Could you please confirm that without moving the file, the user added bookmarks are not retained and that you are unable to view these bookmarks across different android devices?
    Thanks,
    Adobe Reader Team

  • How do I turn off automatic bookmark creation when combining multiple PDFs into one?

When I combine multiple PDFs into one, I need Adobe to use the CUSTOM bookmarks I created in the original PDFs. I do NOT want the additional PDF name as a bookmark in this instance. Is there a way to turn this option OFF in Acrobat Professional? I have version 9.

You can not automatically turn off this action nor can you remove the 'file_name.pdf' heading, but you could add a button or menuitem to remove the 'file_name.pdf' from the bookamarks. Yes, it is one more step to perform when combining PDFs, but is you want until you have all of the PDFs combined you only need do it once.
Removing filename bookmarks created by Acrobat by Sean Stewart
    From the above article:
"With the release of Acrobat 6 came the ability to create a composite (binder) document from multiple files, (i.e. File > Create PDF > From Multiple Files.) When this is done, Acrobat automatically inserts a new top level bookmark at the start of each new file. The bookmark title will correspond to the source filename of the source file. While this level of separation can be helpful, it is counterproductive when the user wants the bookmark tree in the merged document to be continuous.
"Here's a sample JavaScript to remove the top level bookmarks from the bookmark tree. This script will look for a ".pdf" extension to decide whether to remove the bookmark."
With some additional coding you can add menu item or toolbar button.

  • Tool bar fonts & navigation menus are way too small. Ctrl + isn't permanent.

My screen is about 50cm. Mozilla's 3.6 navigation, toolbar and bookmark font is 9 point or less and it is very hard to read it. With such a big screen I need 10+ fonts. Crtl + ++ refers to one page at a time. I need the larger font all the time on the above mentioned places and including the drop down menu items. It is a struggle to see my customized bookmarks tool bar words and icons. They are too minimized. Fonts on web sites are not much of a problem. Writers there know their readers, and customers.

  • I'd like to modify how recently visited site are shown: Listed like before rather than thumbnails, and sorted by most recent rather than most frequent. Thanks.

I did find one thread on creating a custom bookmarks folder that contains the recently visited sites sorted by recency, but I can't figure out how to create it. I'm pretty computer-savvy but the links provided don't go to a clear path on achieving what the topic is about.
And I found nothing on changing back to the former list view that existed before the recent update that went to thumbnails. Note this is not an issue new browser windows but it is when opening a New Tab -- the new version shows thumbnails, but I'd prefer the list.
    Thanks!

Firefox (version 13 and higher) shows thumbnails when opening a new tab. If you saw a list view at some point, then that feature was provided by an extension you've installed. Check if the extension in question has been updated for Firefox 13. Setting the new tab page to open ''about:blank'' may also restore the extension's functionality. See the following article for details:

When Firefox is open, external links open in a new tab fine. However when FF is not open, the links will spawn the browser with the default user profile. Then I have no customized bookmark bar with my links on it.

It is best to select the default profile that you want to use when you click a link in an external program as the current selected profile in the Profile Manager (marked as Default=1 in profiles.ini) and use desktop a shortcut that specifies a profile folder to open other Firefox version with a specific profile.

  • CSM : Sorry server and Stickyness when reals are overloaded

    Hi,
I have a portal of eight real servers and one sorry server, which should redirect new user to another portal, in case of an overload condition of all eight real servers. Server load is measured on each real server using a custom developed agent, which basically measures the real CPU load. If a real server experiences an overload, the local agent uses the CSM XML interface to set the maxcons value in the CSM to stop accepting new connections. However, I want to continue accepting sticky connections (request with a valid cookie). The experience shows that the CSM does accept to create new connections to real server reaching maxcons, even if a cookie exist.
This causes a problem if we want to redirect NEW users to another portal in case of overload, but to keep EXISTING users in the server farm, even if the number of connections could increase slightly above maxconns...
How can I solve the problem ?
    Thank you
    Yves Haemmerli

    Hi Thomas,
Thank you for your comment. I also understand this behaviour like you, however this can have a devastating effect in a global portal environment. Imagine, you have three portals distributed over the world, each having let say 8 real servers. In the real life, it is seldom to replicate data in real time between data centers, due to the distance. However, the user roles and customized bookmarks and other user-specific settings are replicated. This allows to provide a global portal to users. But if a user connects to one particular regional portal, he has to stay on this portal for the duration of the whole browser session, do you follow me ? OK, now imagine that all 8 real servers in a portal reach the maxconns, because 10'000 users are connected to the portal. For new users (users with no sticky cookie), we want to send them to another regional portal. This is achieved with the global site selection provided by the GSS for example. But for existing user already connected to the overloaded portal, we want to KEEP them on the portal ! else, as the user browser continuously opens and closes TCP sessions, all 10'000 users will be immediately transferred to the other regional portal! This means the the other regional portal will becom overloaded as well, while the first portal load will be droped to zero very quickly ! Then, we not only create a situation where users loose their data by being transferred to another portal, but we also create a oscillations in the portal load !
I really don't know if there is a mean to solve this problem...Do you have any idea ?
    Regards,
    Yves Haemmerli

Are you interested in PDF settings beyond what can be specified in FrameMaker -- such as custom bookmarks (e.g. pointing to web sites, e-mail feedback, search), initial view settings, custom named destinations ?
pdfmark, an extension to the PostScript page description language, enables you to specify PDF features in your source FrameMaker files.
When processed by Distiller, the PDF features you specify will be created automatically (no need to redefine the features in Acrobat everytime you update your content and have to recreate the PDF).
The session starts with some use cases and an overview of pdfmark commands (with pointers to additional information), and proceeds to discuss/demonstrate pdfmark insertion mechanisms (including PostScript text frames in FrameMaker files, hypertext markers and "shortcuts" with FrameMaker-to-Acrobat TimeSavers, prologue/epilogue files).

  • BB 10 Browser - Homepage and New Tab options

Hi all I'm hoping someone can answer a couple questions.
First, is it possible to set my home screen to my bookmarks list?
Secondly, can I set my New Tab page to also show my bookmarks list only?
Third, is there any way to make it so when I press 'K' to open my bookmarks list, that the bookmark opens in a new tab by default?
The new tab page choices are not ideal for me, as it shows sub domains which I do not care for when opening a new page.  Opening a bookmark from the bookmarks list replaces my currently open tab, which I do not want often, and I'd rather have old tabs open than replace a current tab that I want to keep.  And if I open the new tab screen then press 'K' for the shortcut it begins to search my history instead of opening the bookmarks screen.
Really, I only need one of these three options to be possible to make my browsing time on the Passport pleasant, but right now I can't find a way to do any of those things!

Actually your idea will work. Create an html file containing the sites you want as a one page web based bookmarks. Email the file to yourself and save it (you get to choose)
Use file browser to open the html file you created
This file will open in the browser and should show you all the sites you want and you can click on them to open the page
Set this page (which is just a pointer to the file) to your homepage (To do this click on the 3 vertical dots icon, select settings, Select Display and Actions, select Current Page)
Set the "On Startup Show" option to My Home Page...
Now when you open the browser it should open to your custom bookmarks html page
    Cheers
    Mike
