Customizing filename when using an external editor - can only one filename be used by all editors?
I have a number of external editors defined for my LR 3.3 Win7 application. Within my Preferences, when I customize how an editor, say, Photoshop CS5, handles a file, I can set the name of the edited file - e.g., {Filename}-ed.psd . However, if I change the edited filename for another external editor, say to {Filename}-SilverEfexPro.psd, that filename is used for all externally edited files. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

A side note here; just because it _opens_ the file in your external editor with that name the first time, doesnt' mean that's the name it has
to be saved as. When you go to save it, select save as, instead of save. I beleive I have used this technique before, and LR still "finds" the file.
Sometimes even when I don't *want* it to find the file!

No idea, but Aperture is not an external editor. Like iPhoto, Aperture is a Photo Manager. It's a database. There is no way to round trip a shot from iPhoto to Aperture and back again like you can with Photshop or an image editor.
Given that Aperture does pretty much everything that iPhoto does - and a whole lot more - it begs the question: why not just use it to manage your photos? -

How do I export my video in 500x500 resolution? I know there's a feature in Final Cut Express that allows me to make custom dimensions when I export but I can't find the same in FCPX.
Tom is right, BUT! ...the newest version of Compressor (41.) allows you to do just THAT! ...to export custom sizes.
It's easy. And... once you set it up, you can export DIRECTLY from FCPX, provided you've saved / added this scheme as a "destination" in the FCPX app. -
I recently changed my PC and I transferred my iTunes music library to an external disc. Now, when I open iTunes I can only see the music I've downloaded, but not the rest of my music. What do I need to do?

Soundtrack Pro doesn't work. When I open it, i can only hear a heartbeat ticking sound over and over again, then I get the spinning beach ball when I try playing a sound efx.
Update: I tried reinstalling firefox, same thing happened again. When i stopped the process "plugin-container for firefox", i could use parts of firefox (didn't get an error sound) for a while, until the process "plugin-container" startet again.
so what am i to do? switch to chrome? -
In Mail, when using "reply all" why does Mail automatically include my email address in the cc line? Whey would I want to include my email address in an email I am sending.? Anybody have any idea how to stop Mail from including my email address in the cc line when using "reply all"?
Automatically cc myself is not checked. I did find out that if you have multiple email address that all of them need to be associated with "My Contact" tab. Thanks

It is because FOR ALL ENTRIES deletes the duplicate entries before populating the target internal table.
Please do an F1 on FOR ALL ENTRIES & read the SAP documentation.
I mean how duplicate entries will not get deleted when we use this?
Quite simple, if you select all key fields then each entry will be unique & there will not be any duplicate entries to delete !!

When using FaceTime, all other sounds are muted. This defeats functionality. When will this be corrected? Does anyone know of a "fix" for this problem? This definately is NOT a feature.
yes, that is exactly what mine did too. I noticed that something is wrong after receiving calls and did not hear anything.
It was like the IPhone did not realize that the headphone is not any longer plugged in. I m not sure weather I plugged/unplugged the headphones after this more than once but it startet working correctly. -
When I try to bring up Firefox MSN comes up. I can only run Googlemail in HTML. All this happened after I did a Sony VIAO update.
Perhaps the PLUGIN Update feature needs to be engaged to assure that both Java and Shockwave editions are current. It requires 'Help' > 'Firefox Help' > where the lower right side displays a link for Plug-In Update...

I bought a movie on iTunes and when it loads up I can only play the bonus features and not the actual film. The title screen is also glitched and merges with the scene selection. I don't think it downloaded properly. what can I do?
It happens sometimes. Delete the current copies, don't hide from iTunes in the cloud if prompted, close iTunes, reopen, download from iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer.
While downloading click the download icon at the top right and uncheck Enable simultaneous downloads. You may find it more reliable that way.

IPhoto 11 loosing images when edited in external editor?

I am using iPhoto 11 and have it set to "edit in external edit" when i right click on an image. The aspp is Photoshop Elements 9 (PSE9) but when i save the image from PSE9 it duplicates it in iPhoto and i can see it as a thumbnail but when i double click it to view all i get is an exclamation mark and no image?Thanks for the reminder; I think I read that, too, though it sounded dubious. The signal-to-noise ratio on this issue is murky at best. I submitted a feedback for enhancement, in addition to my bug report from yesterday:
I love iPhoto and have used it for years. But iPhoto '11 has a 'terrible new feature' or misbehavior that really needs a second look.
Please change iPhoto '11 back to the way it's behaved for 2-4 generations since using an external editor was first introduced: the new behavior duplicates photos before editing them the first time. The old behavior was to edit the existing photo and use "return the original photo" in the event that a user wanted to rollback the changes.
The old behavior was intuitive and harmonized with the behavior of using the internal iPhoto editor -- i.e., a user was not expected to develop a different workflow or bloat their library size.
The new behavior is neither intuitive nor efficient. It creates an unequal workflow whether the user decides to use iPhoto vs. external editor. That's just not consistent with the behavior of iPhoto for the past several generations of its existence. -
Changing color space when opening in external editor

Is it possible to have aperture open a raw file in Photoshop in a colourspace other than Adobe RGB and also in 8bit rather than 16bit.
Also I notice that it only saves as PSD or TIFF if you want to have the retouched file linked to the original master. Is there a work around to change this to jpeg but maintain the link to the master file.

I understand why, in the interest of maintaining max file integrity that apple restricts exporting to 16bit and PSD or TIF.
However Adobe 98 is'nt always the best or most convenient colourspace to open a file with an external editor. What i'm looking is the option to change the export colourspace.
PS: I'm only looking for the option when using the 'Open In External Editor' option. I know when exporting files out of aperture that there are many more options.
