Cannot launch Java Report Panel
I would like to use the 'Advanced' Web Intelligence editor.
Unfortunately, when I attempt to edit a WI report, I get a message that reads 'This software has already been installed on your computer. Would you like to reinstall it?'
If I allow the installation, Java 6, Update 3 is downloaded and installed. I restart the browser. Attempting to edit the WI report generates the installation message.
If I don't allow the installation, I get an error that reads 'Cannot launch Java Report Panel, please make sure you have installed a Java virtual machine.'.
It never gets out of this installation loop.
At one point, the Advance editor worked, then something changed.
The Java Control Panel indicates that I have JRE versions 1.6.0_03 and 1.6.0._20 installed (in the Java Applet Runtime Settings). In addition, versions 1.4.2_04, 1.4.2_07, 1.4.2_12, and 1.6.0_03 are listed in the JNLP Runtime settings.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Craig BuchananI am having the same problem and I don't see an answer here. I have uninstalled every instance of java and restarted my computer, then installed the one suggested here: Cannot launch Java Report Panel, please make sure you have installed a Java virtual machine. (the Java Virtual Machine was a link). Restarted again, tried again, same error. On the sun page, I tested my java installation and it works fine. I have checked that java is enabled in both IE and Firefox and I still get this error in either browser. I am using Windows XP.
Upon comparing my computer with my coworker's java configurations, we found that she has a certificate called "Business Objects America" and I don't have that. Could that be the problem, and if so, where can I get that certificate? There was no active X question as I would have expected to see asking to run active X or not. I can't find any certificate downloads on your site at all.
Please advise ASAP because I need to use this Web Intelligence Reporting and I cannot get in.
Thank you. -
WEBI 3.1 Java report panel customization
Hi All,
Can some one please point me to the file location (Where and which file) which holds the code to modify the Document Autosave and Recovery within WEBI - Java report panel?
We are in process of branding our infoview and would appreciate your help in locating this file.
(PS: Wanted to share the screen print of the window which we want to customize, however did not find a way to upload the screenshot. )
Cheers!Hi Adam,
Thank you for your reply!
I am aware that the customization is not completely supported.
We do not want to change anything major, just the color of the window. Is there any other file apart from the war files which contain the code for making the color change?

How can I customize the Java Report Panel applet splash screen?
Has anyone found a quick and easy way, either via javascript or a webi properties file, to cutomize the splash screen for the Java Reporting Panel applet while it is loading? I've found a few code snippets for the javascript approach, but they don't quite work, and apparently there's a webi properties file that I should be able to use to accomplish this, but where is it exactly? Is it on the BO server, or should it be in a jar file in my project. Can't seem to find it. Thanks for any help.
Look at the link I posted, you aren't double buffering correctly.
I saw the other post you mistakenly made before you edited it. Not really a big deal, I was just wondering why you did that. -
Building Reports Using the Web Intelligence HTML Report Panel - URL
Is there a way to launch HTML report panel directly through a URL for creating webi reports..I know we can set the preference for HTML report panel in infoview...but thats not the requirement. I have to launch the HTML or Java report panel editor according to the User selection on the fly....its a customized java code for webi reports.
Any help on this is appreciated!
Thanks

NO java control panel in windows system control window
Hello together,
there seems to be a bug/feature (?) not allowing me to use the plugin functionality of my J2EEsdk-1_4
Situation:
Before i installed the J2EE i had an already installed java plug-in 1_4_2 working fine on
my Laptop giving my ms explorer 6.0 the Java VM needed. To avoid conflicts, i deinstalled
this plug-in, before i installed the J2EE 1_4_2. The result was disapointing.
There was NO java control panel in the windows2000 system control window after installing J2EE.
There was no corresponding registration key in the registry anymore.
Additionally there was no java related entrance to be seen anymore in the advanced internet and
security options of my ms explorer 6.0.
i have have found several trouble reports mentioned similar problems during the last months but unluckily
no solution working for me.
i did several tests with different java packages i downloaded today to get the actual versions
First:
i deinstalled the J2EE (not to get version conflicts) and installed the Java Plug-in 1.4.2 again.
This was proposed from ms explorer, when i tried to open an internet page with javaplugins included.
This plugin worked fine again. I could see and use the java panel and it enabled
my explorer to use the java plugin.
Second:
i deinstalled the Java Plugin and installed the J2sdk_1_4_2 instead.
The java plugin which is part of this package also worked fine.
Third:
i deinstalled the J2sdk_1_4_2 and installed the J2EEsdk-1_4-windows.exe.
the same misbehaviour as mentioned before. No java panel icon can be seen
in the windows system control, now registration......
as a workaround i have installed now both, the J2eesdk (i want to learn about)
and some additonal 100 MB java plug-in to enable my MS explorer to display
java applets again.
This is working fine again, but i really would prefer to have no need for two JREs.
By the way:
When i first opened the java control panel of the Plug-in and deactivated the update
mechanism , this plugin got really angry immedialtely afterwards. As a result my
laptop rebooted without coming up again. i had to initiate another hard reboot to get
windows back
i really would like to know , whats wrong me or the J2ee and i apriciate
any hint.
Best regards: yours aspirantOne thing you could do if you by all means want to have only one single copy of 1.4.2 on your system is to install standalone J2SE 1.4.2 (this will accomodate your Java console and browser plugin requirements) and then install Application Server only distribution (on the download page this is referred to as "Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8") and sample applications set ("J2EE 1.4 SDK Samples "). In this way you get full content you would get in J2EE 1.4 SDK and all the benefits of standalone J2SE 1.4.2 installation.
This is obviously more convoluted at installation time since there are 3 separate things to install, but it would seem to fit your requirements.
Hope this helps... -
Unrelated data in master detail sections of a custom BIP report deployed in R12 EBS
We have a custom Master Detail BIP report generated by calling XDO APIs from a custom Java concurrent program (common_report_attachment) . This Java concurrent program is called from another custom concurrent program (po_validation) that processes a batch of POs in a single concurrent request.
PO_Validation Program (processes a batch of POs per request) -> Java Concurrent Program -> BI Publisher Report APIs
BIP report generates data for master detail sections based on two sql queries (given below) that have 'where' clause based on a common external parameter "P_TRX_HDR_ID".
NOTE: No explicit data link is used NOR an output column of parent query is used in the where clause of detail query as bind parameter.
- <dataTemplate name="NAPPB2BPORPT" description="Data Template for B2B PO Report" version="1.0">
- <properties>
<property name="xml_tag_case" value="upper" />
<property name="db_fetch_size" value="200" />
<property name="scalable_mode" value="on" />
</properties>
- <parameters>
<parameter name="P_TRX_HDR_ID" dataType="number" />
</parameters>
- <dataQuery>
- <sqlStatement name="Q_PO_HDR">
- <![CDATA[
SELECT poh.po_number PO_NUMBER
, poh.quote_number QUOTE_NUMBER
---- other columns -----
FROM nappcust.napp_o2i_po_headers poh
,napp_aso_quote_headers_v naqv
WHERE 1=1
AND naqv.quote_number=poh.quote_number
AND poh.header_id = :P_TRX_HDR_ID
]]>
</sqlStatement>
- <sqlStatement name="Q_LINES">
- <![CDATA[
SELECT pol.item ITEM
, pol.partner_part_number PARTNER_PART_NUMBER
-- other columns --
FROM napp_o2i_po_lines pol
, napp_o2i_po_headers poh
, aso_quote_lines_all aqla
, mtl_system_items_b msib
WHERE 1=1
AND poh.header_id = pol.header_id
AND pol.header_id = :P_TRX_HDR_ID
AND aqla.quote_header_id = poh.QUOTE_HEADER_ID
AND msib.inventory_item_id = aqla.inventory_item_id
AND msib.organization_id = aqla.organization_id
AND (pol.quote_line_number = aqla.quote_line_id
OR pol.quote_line_number = aqla.quote_line_id||1)
]]>
-- Added for the defect 13954
</sqlStatement>
</dataQuery>
- <dataStructure>
- <group name="G_PO_HDR" source="Q_PO_HDR">
<element name="PO_NUMBER" value="PO_NUMBER" />
<element name="QUOTE_NUMBER" value="QUOTE_NUMBER" />
--- mappings for other columns of "Q_PO_HDR"
- <group name="G_LINES" source="Q_LINES">
<element name="ITEM" value="ITEM" />
<element name="PARTNER_PART_NUMBER" value="PARTNER_PART_NUMBER" />
--- mappings for other columns of "Q_LINES"
</group>
</group>
</dataStructure>
</dataTemplate>
Issue: Sometimes when the parent concurrent request runs for a batch with multiple POs the report generated for the last PO has inconsistent data in the master and detail sections. To elaborate, the detail section is having correct data pertaining to the PO identified by the parameter "P_TRX_HDR_ID". However, the master section is having data pertaining to the previous PO processed from the same batch.
This issue is not occurring consistently and is not reproducible at will. I
'm suspecting this could be because of not having data link between the queries but confirm from someone who has experienced this issue.
Regards,
Srinathis there any way from the page, can we pass the some values, which can identify the page level data?
if so pass the parameter to BIP report query. -
Java Control Panel quit unexpectedly while using the libjvm.dylib plug-in.
OS X Server1 0.8.4, Mac Mini (5,1), Java 7u25 (jre-7u25-macosx-x64.dmg).
Tried removing and re-installing Java 7u25 directly from Oracle's site. Also did a fix disk permissions, rebuilt caches, deleted java caches, etc... I can't simply get the Java control panel to launch.
I have the same version running on my MacBook Air (OS X 10.8.4 w/ Java 7u25) with no issues. Obviously something is differnet and I see a lot of complaints of various versions of Java 7 and OS X on different searches, yet no solutions. I also tried re-installing the JavaForOSX2013-004.dmg patch, even though this shouldn't affect access to the control panel, but could block a plugin from running in the browser (which ultimately is what I'm trying to solve).
I can't revert back to Apple's Java 6, as the Java application I'm trying to run requires Java 7. Details of the latest crash:

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application unistaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Custom Java class called from RTF template generates error
We are running a report in BI Publisher and the report calls a custom developed Java class that is used to bind PDFs together and sent the result to another application.
On the RTF template we have some XSLT that reads the input XML and sets a variable which is then passed to the Java class. We are however getting the following error when the report is called simultaneously 2 or more times:
XML-22044: (Error) Extension function error: Error invoking 'JavaClassName': 'java.lang.Error: Cannot interweave overlay template with pdf input, combined number of pages is odd!
I read this as the real cause of the error is the Java code but I'm not 100% sure. Also I don't understand what the error message means.
Could someone help out please?
Many thanksSince our this requirement is in Quotes module, its not using OAF. It is using plain JSPs and java classes.
What i was thinking is, create the Option values as flex fields, and write a custom java class to fetch these data from the flex tables and use it in the JSP.
The main problem we are facing now is,
"...we wrote a simple java class, which establishes database connection, executes a simple insert & select query to our custom table. compiled & placed the class file under our new pkg structure under $JAVA_TOP eg. oracle.apps.xxx.quot.tmpl , bounced the apache."
But when we tried to import this class in the jsp (which is being customized), the app just throwed Internal Server Error and we couldnt find any info in the Log file.
Couldnt guess, why is this simple thing failing. Any idea ? -
Custom KM Reports: parameter's labels translation
Hi folks,
we are facing a problem about custom KM reports development.
Currently we have developed one new report according Thilo's how to guide and according the code of a standard one.
The report seems works fine, but we are not able to translate its labels within the parameters tab.
For example, we have defined a parameter like this:
m_repository = new PropertyName("http://sap.com/test/", "Destination");
m_parameterDefinitions.put(m_repository, new PropertyDef(PropertyType.STRING, false, true, false, false, false));
m_parameterDefaults.put(m_repository, "documents");
m_meta = ReportInputMeta.getInstance(m_parameterNames, m_parameterDefinitions, m_parameterDefaults);
and also we have defined a KM Property with a property ID and a Unique ID equals to "Destination", a namespace alias which contains "http://sap.com/test/", a Metadata Extention which points to a bundle file and set a key for label value contained into bundle file as describe in Thilo's guide.
At this point, if we check into report's properties, we can find this property correctly translated, but if we open the Parameters tab, for starting the report, the label related to that parameter is not translated.
Do you have experienced something like this? Do you have any suggestions about that?
We are running on EP NW04S.
Many thanks
Cheers
RobertoHi Julian,
finally I find my trouble. I followed your suggestions and also I verified that NWDS doesn't include properties files within the jar which contains report classes, this was the main reason of my issue.
I activated the option "Yes, I wanted the non java sources included into the portal component jars", under Windows --> Preferences --> SAP Enterprise Portal --> Application Developement Studio" and magically all work fine
Thank you again for your help
Good bye

Download custom generated reports in Excel from ITS
Hi All,
We have generated some custom reports and have used ALV reporting. Now from the GUI we are able to download the report in excel but from the ITS this functionality is not working,
Has anybody idea how to achieve this for the custom reports.
Thanks,
SmitaHi Luciano,
Thanks for your reply. I am really lost with your question. Before we were not able to download the standard SAP report and then we upgraded our Java Virtual Machine to V1.4 and its working for the standard report.
Now my problem is that I am not able to download it from the custom generated report.
As soon as I am clicking on export to local file the report screen is getting blank and not allowing for any further action.
Any clue?
Thanks,
Smita -
