Customizing KPRO for an external Content Server

Could you help us about this problem .
We need to install document's archiving onto a external Content Server (product Documentum), using KPRO.
We have customized thus :
OAC0 : Content Repository = Z1 for DMS ( DocArea) and version 045.
CSADMIN : We receive the message HTTP command adminContRep (operation configGet) is not possible for Z1 (only as of 0046) when we validate .
OACT : (Maintain category) , Z1 is affected to SOFFHTTP .
SKPR08: Categories for physical doc classes , the category SOFFHTTP is affected to the class SOFFHIO.
With the transaction CV01N , used to create a FID and to join a document , we receive the following error when we try to archive the document :
"Error during the archiving of D:\Carte..".
Nevertheless we can find the joined document onto the server Documentum.
Do we forget a customizing ??? Thanks a lot .

i don't know the version of SAP ERP you're using but nevertherless you should bear in mind this detail:
CSADMIN: "digital signature" not checked means you are not using it.
OAC0:"No signature" SHOULD be checked if you are not using it (to be consistent with CSADMIN)
However i am not sure this is solely responsible of your errors; in case of SAP content server, if it works for one user, it will work for the others.
Please be more clearer in your last part ???
Do you mean only the user having done the check-in of the file who can afterwards access the original (in display and change) ?
what do you mean by "For the other people, it doesn't find the original location" and also by "unless we create the same original location, or we change the original location".
In case of SAP Content Server, we don't care about "location", whether the file comes initially from a fileserver X or Y or Z, as far as the file has been correctly checked-in the content server, it should be accessible for anybody (as far as user rights allow it)

We are working on a DMS scenario, where we need to store the document in an external content server, and not in SAP DB. We are evaluating the solutions around the content server, and we see that SAP provides a HTTP Interface to SAP Content Server, and this interface can be configured through OAC0 and OACT, and managed through CSADMIN. Now, a set of questions:
1. If we intend to use SAP Content Server, do we need to purchase additional license for it? Our understanding is that the software is delivered with SAP Installation DVD, and as such no licensing charges are required.
2. If we DO NOT intend to use SAP Content Server, and rather use an external content server (Possibly utilizing the File System at the OS level as a repository), how will the configuration of OAC0 and OACT look like in such a case? We definitely can not use HTTP Content Server as storage type, How will the entries be organized in this case?
Has anyone worked on a scenario like this? It will be really nice if you can share your experience and expertise in this regard.

Thanks for the clarification. Do I understand correctly that, for a external content server (without an installation of SAP Content Server) also, we need to specify the storage type as HTTP Content Server ? But in such a case, how will the work processes be handled? As I understand, SAP Content Server engine will handle the incoming/outgoing requests through a Web Server. So, don't we need a similar arrangement for an external content server also? In that case, will the connection parameters be for a HTTP Content Server or for RFC Archive, where we can specify a RFC Destination of type G and connect through it?

Confuguration of DMS using an external content server and KPRO

Hello all,
I am working in a new EH&S SAP environnement.
The aim is to configure a DMS to link EH&S with an external content server Documentum using Kpro.
I have done the following IMG activities:
- Specify Content Servers (Tcode: OAC0)
- Maintain Categories (Tcode: OACT)
- Specify links
- Specify Data Carriers
- Define document types
- Assign EH&S Document Types to Data Carriers
But i am facing to the following problems:
- CG36VEN: error: "could not create report for specification XX, variant XX and lang. EN.
- CG34: error: cannot display document MSDS
- CG4B: error: cannot display document TEST
Are there other actions to be done in the IMG activities?
Any idea to help me please?

More details:
I am working in a new EH&S SAP environnement.
I have installed a new DMS link witn an external documentum content server and he is working fine.
My aim is to configure EH&S to link SAP EH&S with my DMS.
Actually my connexion between EH&S and DMS is not working.
Can you tell me what are actions to be done to link EH&S to my DMS.

I have integrated an external content server to SAP
i have done following activities:
1) I have maintained content repository using Tcode OAC0
2) I have Maintained Global Doc Type (ZFININV Finance Invoice scan doc document class: TIF) using Tcode OAC2
3) i have maintained Link for Doc type ZFININV and assigned Object type: BKPF    using tcode OAC3
4) I have all My documents scaned and residing there on my content server . So i have manually created entry for these documents in Table TOA01 .
5) I have maintained protocol using tcode OAA3
      Function : Display Stored Document
     Doc Class: FAX
      communication type : HTTP
In application Maintenance i have used internet explorer as an application.
7) In tcode OAG4 : i have maintained settings for storage and display.
8) Now i can search document using Tcode OAAD. i can display document in my content server viewer
Now my customer wants that while doing business transaction , customer should be able to attach link of supporting document   which is already residing there on my content server.
Say for example: I display a Finance document using tcode FB03. While doing maintenance of this document ,from the same screen , i want to attach supporting document (or link of the document) which is already archived there in my content server
but when i click on attachment list (using GOS) , i can not see any link which i can attach to this transaction
please suggest me .. whether i forgot any step Or is there any other way to do this requirement?

Alteratively, in FB03, try using Environment -> Additional Assignments to see if it meets your requirements. You will have to explore a bit and do some trial and error tests for the solution as this is a particular requirement which you have got.

For this additional assignment, the time at which the business object was created does not matter. It is also possible to assign other archived documents to existing business objects. An archived document is assigned using the function module ARCHIV_APPEND_DIALOG_META.
This additional assignment fulfils my requirement . but i cant see this option for other transaction (say for example ME51n or MM01 ) for which i can do this additional object assignment.
Is it possible to add this additional assignment option in another business transactions context menu? or anyother work around to fulfill this requirement...

ArchiveLink and External Content Server

Newbie question.
Well, we are going to try to implement ArchiveLink HTTP interface 4.5 for a DMS to be able to use it as certified external content server. We are planning to user java/jsp. We can specify content server as 'http://mycontentserver:8080' and in script 'contentserver.jsp'. That part I understand. SAP is going to call contentserver.jsp and will append a request like 'getDoc' to it along with other parameters like docId, contRep, authId, expiration etc. The URL will look like http://mycontentserver:8080/contentserver.jsp?getDoc&contRep&authId&expiration. Is it correct that the contentserver.jsp will have to parse these parameters and create a getDocument request understandable for the DMS? Secondly, what if the DMS is not storing documents in components? Do we then have to modify the underlying DMS architecture to make it support SAP document structure (one document can have one or many components)?

Attach doc from external content server- using Generic Object Service (GOS)

Dear All,
i have intergrated an external content server to SAP using SAP archive link. All the scanned document are there in Content server and corresponding entries are done in SAP.I can search and view document using tcode : OAAD
Please tell me steps for "how to attach a document from external content server using Generic Object Service "
Scenario is : For example when we change any Master records or create a new PO, or do some financial transaction then i need to attach the supporting document which is there in my content server connected to SAP.how do we manual attach a Document in SAP using GOS.
Do we need to do some special configuration to use GOS .please give the steps from initial.

Hello,
Check your configuration of document type assignement to required business document - object type, Archivelink table, content repository in OAC3 transaction.
Goto respective business document > Click on GOS > Create > Store business document - Here you can see defined document type with desctiption. Double click on this the assign your document to this business document. Save it.
This will help in attaching the document to your required business document.
To verify you can check the archivelink table or by transaction OAAD.

Hi Laxmi,
For contetn server installation use t-code OACT - maintain the repository here if not add it. Then in OAC0 define the repository means select are as document management,type HTTP content server or archivelink. Then maintain IP adress and port here.
Then goto CSADMIN and here activate the certificate it's very important task.

Do we need an External Content Server to be configured with OLM

Would like to know if an external content server is mandatory for Oracle OLM on R12.
I have read notes that Content Servers cannot be hosted on the middle tier of Ebiz but have also been told from other sources
that it can be hosted but has some limitations interms of file types supported.
Would like to know if the above is true and if so what are the limitations

An external content server is not mandatory for OLM rel. 12.
You can use an OLM content server, an external content server or any other server that can serve up the content based on URL's.
Oracle does not support an OLM Content Server being hosted on the eBiz middle tier, even if it has been seen to be working in some installations.

We have to do the following post install activities to connect to Content server from DMS.
On SAP Systems (ECC) using CSADMIN t-code we have done the following post installation steps to check whether Content Server is reachable from SAP system.
When use hit CSADMIN option on the screen
Here we need to uncheck the Check Signature check box as we are not using certificates.
Here we need to give HTTP server (Content Server ) info like host name and the port number service is(1090) running.
2. Using OAC0 t-code create Repository on SAP system (ECC)
Then from here Hit CS ADMIN to create rep on Content Server.

Help sought filtering athe results for an external content type.

I have been using resources like

I got the infamous error "Unable to display this Web Part..." that web searches show generally happen when too many results are being returned.
When I set up the Read List operation, I did create a limit filter. The column that has a unique value for each record was selected with a default value of 100. The bits I have read seemed to indicate that would limit the results to 100 records. In
my case, what I was attempting to do should have only returned a few records, so that seemed safe.
Since I am getting the error that people indicate is related to too many records being returned, and I looked using powershell and it seems that the default is 2000 items, the limit filter doesn't appear to be working.
I have read books, web blogs, forum threads and technotes. Unfortunately most of what I have read does not really explain _what_ one is supposed to do in a way that is general. Typically it is all done in terms of some specific example, which perhaps I am
not translating into my specific case appropriately.
Can someone explain the filtering and how the functionality works?

So I am thinking this may not be a limit problem at all. However, the Read List operation, right now, has only one filter parameter - on a column that I have verified has no null entries. There are a lot of columns - and a lot of rows. So I set up a limit
filter with a default value of 100, which I thought would limit the number of records returned to 100.
Perhaps the real problem is something different and it only manifests itself as a null value?
Does anyone out there have any ideas?

Customizing prebuilt taskflows for accessing webcenter content server

We are building an application to manipulate content server objects and are thinking of two option: one is to use RIDC and build our own presentation tier. another is to use existing components such as Document Manager and customize them to suite our needs.
So far we have not been able to find enough documentation on how to customize these out of the box components. To give an example, When a document is uploaded, we requiire to populate metadata such as author name, security group the document belongs to and so on. Another example is when a document is created we want to attach a workflow to that document.
Are there any recommendations? If customizing existing taskflows is a better option, can you provide us links to the resources?
We have tried Oracle documentation and some of the blogs, and everytime we run in some exception or the other. I will refrain from posting those exceptions here as our developers have raised those questions in other threads.

Thanks for your reply. we want user to input values for the metadata fields. We tried to add input fields in Upload.jsff but ran into some exceptions. One of my colleague has posted following threads on this forum.

Another issue we face is when we start Jdeveloper as a customization role, JDeveloper either becomes unresponsive or or freezes when we open an XML file or JSFF file from within Webcenter Docuement Services View library. This hampers our further progress as well.

Yes my users are over a 10 state area geographically, with u201Cpotentialu201D handheld access to the documents that would be attached to functional locations and equipments using the CV0*N access. They would have no need to u201Ccheckout/checkinu201D documents in the field, but would need view access or print access from their field device via a work order wrote against the equipment or F.L. to which the documents would be attached. I envision a separate small group of users that would actually u201Cmanageu201D the documents themselves such as u201Ccheck out/update/check back inu201D to the separate server location where the file(s) are located.
I understand in principle (I think) the DMS storage, but again, if I select u201Ckprou201D (currently unselected for my document type) you make the following comments: u201C2. 'kPro Storage' option (may store in SAP DB,HTTP Content Server), herein you can store 'n' originals/documents and 'n' additional files, AND
HTTP content server You may either use the SAP Content Server or an external/third-party content server.Typically, content server is opted for when operating in a distributed environment(users accessing from several locations)/index based search is needed/n:n mapping scenario exists.

This storage type allows access to different physical repositories, independently of the client and the system ID.u201D
So based on these comments, are you saying I should select u201CKprou201D for my particular document type and that I should define the external server as either an u201CHTTP content serveru201D or either a u201Clogical repositoryu201D? If yes, then as I commented in my 1st ask, please advise how u201CI should use for "Maintaining the Storage System" since based on the selection of "Storage Type" whether HTTP content server or Structure Storage System, or Logical repository decides how the rest of your screen looks for further selection.u201D Thanks in advance.

Relocating SOFFCONT1 items to external content server

I've read the other forum threads on this subject but am still having issues with program RSIRPIRL. Regardless of which Document Area I choose in the selection criteria screen, I cannot seem to locate any of the SOFFCONT1 documents. I can't use PHIO Class because for some reason it appears all of our SOFFCONT1 records are under the "blank" PHIO Class. The only Document Area that gives any significant results during the test run is MIME, but these also are not in the SOFFCONT1 table. Can someone who has used this RSIRPIRL program help me understand how I can use it to relocate SOFFCONT1 documents to our new content server?

I was experiencing the same issue, where no data was selected with the program run. I worked with SAP Support and get the following informaiton:
You can use this report RSIRPIRL to relocate the data in SOFFCONT1 to your external archive server. To do this;
1) Create a content repository in tr. OAC0
2) Create a category and assigned the category to the content repository you created in tr. OACT
3) Run the RSIRPIRL report using the following paramters:
a) Document Area: <Keep blank>
b) PHIO Class: SOFFPHIO
c) Target Category: ZSOFFHTTP (Example name of new category)
d) Source Category: SOFFDB
Hope this helps, the information allowed me to get our documents migrated. The only down side is the program doesn't give options to limit the selection to a reasonable number of records. I'm in the process of migrating 1.9+ million records, and it'll take about 8 days to complete (not running over night).

I'd like access to SAP ECC server integrated with a content server; if you have such an offering or are aware of such, let me know . I need it urgently.
If you have SAP DMS or any content managemnt, you should have a content server ready and running. I need this for training myself.
Any type of content server will do, be it OpenText, CommonStore, FileNet etc. SAP Certified Content Servers.
