Customizing Online Help and versioning

Hello all!
The Online Help my team creates supports a software application that is almost 100% customizable by our clients. Therefore, different clients may need documentation/help for their customized modules, which would not be delivered with base Online Help.
That being said, I'm wondering how versioning would work. If a customer wants to add on to our base Online Help and we delivered to our customers our base files, how could we control versioning? For example, if we delivered Online Help files for the 7.4.0 release of our software and customers purchase their own RoboHelp license to add their own content, what would happen to their new content when we deliver the Online Help files for the next release of our software? Everything would be overwritten, correct?
The only way I can think to do this is to recommend to our customers who want to add on to our base Online Help that they store their customized files outside of the base Online Help folder structure and manually reimport the files when we deliver new help files. Which seems like a lot of work.
Any idea would be greatly appreciated!!

I am receiving no problem with these links. The port number is correct. The link recommends IE 5.5. Check your browser. It could have also been a temporary problem. Try again.

Flash CS4 online help and 'F1', doest it still work?

Until recently i could mark any Class or property in my actionscript code, hit F1 and go directly to the most relevant section of the online help. This seems to have been disabled. Does anyone know if there is a similar feature in the new online help?

Yes, I can create a new as3 file, but I can't "fill it with
sensible content". Neither my As3-codes are recognized nor simple
components are displayed to me in a proper way when testing the

I don't think the URL is controlling the language.
Your ID (Marketplace I suppose you are referring to) is also of no importance on "help.sap.com" (public website).
So I think one of the places to maintain the language used, is de default language in your browser.
Maybe it can also be the user language of the J2EE engine, and of course the logon language used when logging on (to some of) the J2EE components (if a language is asked for).
But personal i would prefer using an "internal" link to a file-server / network-drive then an external internet link....

Followed ALL the online help and still ended up with a 120Gb paperweight

I had a problem with my iPod synchronization. It wouldn't do it at all. I had music on there but any time I tried to put new music or playlists on it wouldn't cooperate. I plugged in my iPod and it came up and then I selected it and pushed the "sync" button. Nothing happened. Absolutely nothing! I have been readin all the posts on here as well as all of the troubleshooting advice from the gurus and there hasnt been one single thing that has helped me. I even went so far as to restore my coputer and then reinstall everything and I still ended up with a migraine. I sincerely abhor having to pay hundreds upon hundreds of dollars for warranties and repairs when the only thing different from when it worked to now is the updates for iTunes. If it comes down to it I feel apple should give everyone a free pass for technical support every time they come out an update so that all of us apple users can continue to love the stuff we buy from them, instead of makign us pay for thier screw ups and then blaming the user.

I don't know if you have tried this yet, but you may have enabled manual music management. On the main iPod screen in iTunes, there is a checkbox near the bottom that says "Manually manage music and videos." Uncheck this to have whatever is on your computer automatically sync with your iPod.
If that does not work, check the music tab and see if the checkbox for "Sync music" is selected. If it is not, do so.

My Adobe Updater installed Photoshop CC 2014, and all seemed well, until I attempted to get online help via:

Pfondaneche, when you press F1, are you just in the main Photoshop window?
When I press F1 I see it go through a quick redirection and within a small fraction of a second it ends up here:

The specific link you posted does not work for me either, so I'm assuming there's an Adobe server problem somewhere, or maybe a problem with that particular link.
I've noticed Adobe has failed to update a number of its pages for the new Photoshop CC 2014.1 release. For example, where is a new page that describes where Photoshop CC 2014.1 keeps its preference files?

Custom Search Help for Functional Area of Cost Centre(KS01/KS02)

Hi,
I need to implement a custom search help and custom enhancement for the field Functional Area in Basic Data tab of Cost Centre Create/Change(KS01/KS02) transactions. Details of the requirement are as below:
1. There will be a custom relation for the Cost Centre category and Functional Area which was maintained thru a SAP standard table TKA05 and a custom table.
2.When the relation to Cost Centre category and Functional Area is a one to one it exist in the TKA05 and if its one to many it will be maintained in the custom table.
3. The requirement is when the Cost Center to Functional area is maintained in table TKA05(One to One) in this case the corresponding Functional Area needs to be populated automatically after entering the cost centre and pressing a enter key by user.
4.When the Cost Centre Category and Functional area does not exist in table TKA05 and existing in custom table(One to Many) in this case the F4 should be enabled for user selection with the list of Functional area values corresponding to the cost centre category entered that are maintained in the custom table.
As per the functionality provided by SAP the input help(F4) of the field Functional area in Cost Center does not have any relation with Cost Centre Category. The existing F4 is from the Value Table(TFKB) attached to the domain of FKBER.
Please provide your valuable inputs to implement the above requirement. Your input will be rewareded.

as it just reads: you need to assign the standard cost center help to a z cost center field in component /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_DO_ACC.. which actually is fetched though the component /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH
so, if you see the component controller of SAPSRM/WDC_UI_DO_ACC you will see the component
USAGE_SH_F4 /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH
USAGE_SH_F4 /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH INTERFACECONTROLLER
so you can replicate the same functionality for your z field.
but can you clarify one thing.. why are you going for this z field in place of standard field ?

Cmd+M open online help instead of minimize in dock

Hi,
At work we just change computers and now, for and unknown reason, when I do "command+M" in Acrobat 9 Pro with an open document, it opens the online help instead of minimizing the document in the dock. I don’t know if it changes something, but we have french acrobat (we had english one on our old computers).
This is actually pretty annoying and I hope one of you will be able to help me with that.

No, there is no override and, actually, I forgot to mention something pretty weird. In the Acrobat's menu we can see shortcuts, and it is written that shortcut for help is F1 and shortcut for minimize is cmd+m... and as I said, when I do cmd+m or F1, it opens online help, and I didn't find a shortcut that minimize yet.
I just try it at home on my iMac. I also have Acrobat Pro french, and it does exactly the same thing. Cmd+m and F1 open online help, and no way to minmize with a shortcut.

I love Firefox, but recently it has been crashing multiple times per day (sometimes 20 or more). I've checked the web help, and can't resolve. Please help.

I have Windows 7 and Firefox 7.0.1, and those two combined have caused a crashing epidemic. I do not have many add-ons installed, and the ones I do have are all updated. I also did not see the crashing coincide with a recent download or install. I've checked all the online help, and nothing has provided resolution. If someone could assist that would be great. I do not want to be forced in to using another browser.

Can't install quicktime or itunes I recieve error code 2738. I'm running windows Vista 32 with Service Pack 2. I have tried old and new version of both programs. Also, have gone through Apple's online help with no good outcome

Strange how sometimes the fixit works better than the manual methods, and sometimes the manual methods work better than the fixit. It differs from Microsoft fixit to Microsoft fixit too. (Unfortunately, because these "anomalous 2738s" are pretty rare as install errors go, I don't have a good feel yet for whether or not it's the fixit or the manual method that's more likely to work in iTunes/QuickTime installation contexts.)

To add to sig's reply, "calibrating" does not calibrate Lithiu-Ion batteries, it calibrates the charge reporting circuitry. If you look at the effect of deep discharging Lithium-Ion batteries in the data from the independent test group, Battery University, you will see that doing so shortens the life of the battery significantly. It looks like an optimum balance between use and life is at a discharge level of 50%.

NI-DAQ Function Reference Online Help, Version 6.6

First, I saw on the National Instruments Home Page that the PDF version of
the Function Reference Manual has been discontinued in favor of the Online
Microsoft Help format version. I really prefer the PDF because it prints
much nicer. Looking at the monitor as many hours as I do is unnerving and I
find the paper relaxing. The Microsoft Help format is better for searching
however. I would be much happier if both versions were kept in production
by National Instruments. (And even happier yet if they gave us developers
free hardback editions )
Second, I was discouraged to find that v6.6 of the document (NI-DAQ Function
Reference Manual for PC Compatibles) does not list the DAQCard-AI-16E-4
under the
options for "NI-DAQ Functions Listed by Hardware Product." I
thought the DAQCard-AI-16E-4 was a popular product and I assume it still
supports the same functions in 6.6 that is did in the earlier versions. Why
was it left out? Can I still use the info for the same topic in the 6.5
PDF?
For the last part of my documentation gripes, in Appendix B for v6.5 under
"Valid Internal Analog Input Channels" the DAQCard-AI-16E-4 is listed in the
second block and the last block. The set of command is different for each
block so I looked in the v6.6 which lists only the first block and I went
with that. Is the appearance of DAQCard-AI-16E-4 in the last block on the
v6.5 doc a typo or does it have significance?
