Cut a heart shape out of one photo and put on another

I just installed pse 10 tonight and I need to frame out a part of a picture in a heart shape and put that heart shape on a layer so I can put that layer over my background photo. How do I do this. Also, the pse 10 box shows a couple with happy anniversary around their picture in a circle and flowers surrounding the circle. Can anyone help me?

You can add a solid color fill layer or drag your background image from the project bin into the main window with your heart. Then drag the background layer down the layer stack so that it sits below the heart layer and shows through the transparency.

Alright, this isn't too hard.
First off, open the photos.. After that, you'll want to use the selection tool (most will work) to select the place you want to allocate.
After you've done this, use the copy command to duplicate it. Go to the other photo and paste .
If you need to reposition or resize, use the move tool.
I once had a project I needed to do this. I had to take the two wooden front doors of a picture of an early picture of a model home and put them on the newer picture for work. I did these same steps, they should work for you!

I am in real estate and have a need to show my photos with the winsdow scene but as I am sure most everyone is aware you need to shoot the windows at faster shutter speeds to capture the outdoors! Is there atutorial preferrably a video that shows the best way to select a window and put it in the other photo that shows the room detail. Obviously all photos were shot on a tripod. Any help would be appreciated I have version 7 of Elements presently I upgraded just before ver 8.0 hit the streets!

Barbara, I did upgrade finally to ver 8 and the it is real easy using photomege-exposure to accomplish the effectthat I want. Thanks for your assistance. It does look like the final merge get s a little washed out with the colors not being true? What would cause this I am using the max on the resoulution when I take the photos!

Yes, you should not have any trouble.

Make sure to you have signed in with correct email address

After the crash...taking down one website and putting up another

I think I have a very strange situation, and don't know if I'm in the right place. Last summer, my hard drive crashed, and somehow I was not able to retrieve iWeb to edit my pages. My website still worked, but when I launched iWeb, it started me out fresh. I even asked the guys at the genius bar (they were helping me retrieve from my backup) and they said it was gone.
I finally (just tonight) had time to redo the entire website. However, now when I try to publish, it says there is an error. I tried publishing to a folder, then going to the folder for the old one, and it won't do it. I don't fully understand the MobileMe, except that 10.4 doesn't need to do anything to switch. I think it thinks I have a website already (which I do) but I am not able to edit that one, and need to get the new one up asap. I would take down the old one if I knew how.
Any thoughts out there? I had Procare, and it ran out right before the crash, and I don't want to go that route again - it's way too distracting. Thanks!

Your site should be stored on your iDisk under Web/Sites and then your site folder with your website name should be there with an index page and then an rss feeds page. To delete, click onto the folder and at the end a circle should appear that if you click on it turns red. Click on this and it will ask you if you wish to delete and click yes and it should delete.
Have you tried deleting iWeb preferences? If not try this by going to User/Library/Preferences and finding the com.apple.iWeb.plist file and deleting it. Run disc repair permissions and then try opening iWeb again and Publishing All and seeing if this works.
A lot of people have had problems with publishing and the thing to do is to keep clicking on publish all repeatedly until it does it.
I take it that you have upgraded from .Mac to MobileMe and that you are running the latest version of iWeb, iLife 08?

Welcome to the forum.
Yes, this is done often. You will need to create a Mask of that person, to separate them from the background of the original Image.
I like to do this with a Layer Mask, as it offers control, and really does not alter the Image, so you can go back and make changes.
Let's say that you have Image 01 w/ the head of your subject, and want to place it into Image 02. In Image 01, make a rough Selection. I would include a bit of extra background, as we will take care of that in a moment. With that Selection active, Copy the head shot. Go to Image 02, and Paste it. It will Paste in its own Layer. Ctrl+T (Free Transform) can be used to Scale and also position that Layer with the head. Once you have that Scaled and positioned about where you want it, create a Layer Mask. In QuickMask Mode, just paint in the additional Mask to remove all traces of the background that came in with the head shot. As you can paint OUT, and also paint IN the Mask, you can work on this, as many times as you wish - even next year.

No. You'll need an external editor for that.
In order of price here are some suggestions:
Seashore (free)
The Gimp (free)
Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
Acorn ($50 approx)
Pixelmator ($50 approx)
Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

To answer some basic questions posted to aid people in helping me. These are
I believe it is version 11 of iphoto as i tried to update but it says it has the latest update and Mac is 2 weeks old from new.
OS is Lion.
I have just tried to look everywhere on the Mac to see where the photos might be.

Welcome to the Apple community.
You can add more than one account to your iPad, but you can only have one primary account. Secondary accounts which you can add at settings> mail, contacts, calendars do not have all the features of a primary account such as photo stream.

Apple doesn't make it easy to do what you want. However, here's how I do it.
Select the photo you want to move and create a new Event for it via the Event ➙ Create Event menu option.
In the Event mode select the new Event with the one picture and drag it onto the Event you want to move the photo to.

I run Tiger OSX on one MacBook and SnowLeopard on another. Photos were downloaded from Tiger to SnowLeopard, and now iPhoto won't open on the Tiger Mac. Will upgrading iPhoto fix this problem?

What matters is the version of iPhoto you have on the different machines. Can you tell us what they are, and what exact error message you get.
