Cut and Copy Part of a Path?

Thank you for the help last night! I'm back with my "cat." I really appreciate any help!
I want to make the ear on the left identical to the ear on the right. Because this is a logo and it needs to be symmetric, I don't want to risk free-handing it. (I was able to do this with the eyes, but the first eye was drawn as its own little area so selecting/copying/reflecting the whole thing was simple.)
I made this primarily with the Pen Tool. I tried using the scissor tool to cut my paths. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but it doesn't work.

I would do the following:
Make a copy and outline the whole illustration:
Then I would unite the whole thing:
Draw a rectangle over the top and rotate to find the centre line (as is off a bit):
Divide so appears like:
Hit delete twice so you are left with:
Add a guide so sits flush with the top point:
Use the rotation tool and select the point that touches the guide line:
Rotate until the rest of the cat is in line with the guide:
Then hit 'O' to use the reflect tool and holding alt, click and drag to "copy the cat" so appears like this:
If you look at the outline view you will see this:
With you selection tool start selecting all the unnecessary lines:
You will also have to do some touch up work (by combining and dividing) with the smaller parts to get your finished result:
I hope this helps.

  • Cut and Paste part of image from Photoshop to .csv template

    Hi all,
I have my own javascript to determine which portion(coordinates) of an image i wish to cut.
But what codes can i add to my javascript to paste the image into an excel(.csv) template that i've prepared on the desktop?
And if the above is possible, how then to control which row/column in the excel(.csv) will the image be pasted in?
This is because the excel(.csv) is a Template, thus i will need the image to be pasted only in certain row/column...
    Can someone help me?

  • My Copy/Cut and Paste Solution (if possible)

    I sent this to Apple:
    I know there's been a lot of people saying they need/want a cut/copy & paste feature.
I was thinking about this tonight and realized that with a touch screen that needs to control a lot, incorporating "clicking and dragging" becomes somewhat a challenge. I don't know if it's possible to do with a software update (through iTunes) but here two ideas...
First, in either idea, a "copy arrow" would need to be included in the touch keyboard. It would look like a cursor key arrow pointing to the right.
Idea #1 - Cursor arrow is a "sticky" key, so you hit it once and it stays selected until you hit it again.
Using a finger or the cursor magnifying glass, the user could place their cursor at the beginning of the text they want to highlight. They then click on the sticky arrow key. Using a finger or the cursor magnifying glass they place the cursor at the end of the text they want to highlight. The text now shows highlighted. Click the sticky arrow key again to copy the text and clear the highlight.
Idea #2 - Cursor arrow highlights as it's selected.
Using a finger or the cursor magnifying glass, the user places their cursor at the beginning of the text they want to highlight/copy. They then click on the copy arrow key (or hold it down) until they reach the end of the text they wish to copy. As they highlight, content highlighted is copied to the clipboard automatically. Clicking anywhere on the screen clears the highlight (and retains what is highlighted on the clipboard).
Being Apple, you may have a more elegant solution than me... but I thought I'd share it none-the-less.
    What do you think?

I was going to cut and paste part of another post about this but...
I think that th simplest initial implementation of copy/cut/paste is to have a clipboard icon that turns on a selection function with its own pallete of keys. (cut, copy, paste, select all, select none, delete selection, and my favorite desperately needed button... copy to notes)
Once in clipboard mode, single tap selects a ord, double tap selects a sentence, triple tap selects the paragragh, and a select all button selects the entire text within the frame.
Perhaps there should also be a button that looks like your cursor with the arrow. however, it would have to be set to highlight from one complete word to another and not from the exact point of touch.
Man do I wish that I could copy and paste this into my own post from earlier.

  • Safari5.1.x Cut/Paste and Copy/Paste don't work

Please reconsider the severity of this bug!
It may be related to something more fundamental in the Safari cut-n-paste functionality. It seems that Safari ALWAYS pastes an instance of the parent macro when copying content wrapped in a macro. The same behaviour is seen when copying and pasting text wrapped in the "Numbered headings" macro.
I believe the problem is mainly related to the cut and copy function rather than the paste function, since the instance of the parent element is also pasted when attempting to place the cut content outside the parent element. This effectively means that there is no way to move content out of a macro, since deleting the wrapper macro will also delete the contents.
All in all this makes Safari 5.1.x pretty much useless as a client to Confluence, since basic editing will have to involve pasting to and recutting from some external program to perform the most basic of editing operations. In a corporate environment users may not be allowed to install (or use) an alternative browser.

I have this problem using Safari 5.1.7 on OS 10.6.8. I believe the issue exist with much before versions as well. Please someone reconstruct the issue and confirm it. Thanks. this is making Safari useless.

  • How do i copy, cut and paste on firefox

How can I copy cut and paste on firefox? I have windows 8! Please Help !!!!!!

You should just be able to perform these functions as you do in any application by doing one of the following:
    * Select some content, right-click your selection and select 'Copy' or 'Cut' from the menu. To paste, right-click in a text area or input field and select 'Paste'.
    * Select some content and press Ctrl+C to copy or Ctrl+X to cut. To paste, click in an input field or text area and press Ctrl+V.
In webpages you cannot cut content that is not in a text area or input field, and you cannot paste to somewhere other than a text area or input field. Some sites also use preventative measures to stop (or at least hinder - there is usually some way around it) copying (often to prevent plagiarism).

  • The MacBook Pro will not allow me to cut-and-paste to and from or to click-and-drag to the external drive. I can copy-and-paste, but then I must send the original to the trash, which doubles the time and effort. Is there any way to cut-and-paste?

I have recently switched from a PC to a MacBook Pro.
I have a large number of documents and photographs on a multiterrabite external drive, backed up on a second multiterrabite external drive.
Both external drives are formatted for MacIntosh. This has been verified by agents at an Apple store and also at Best Buy in two different cities.
    This is the problem:
The MacBook Pro will not allow me to cut-and-paste to and from or to click-and-drag to the external drive. I can copy-and-paste, but then I must send the original to the trash, which doubles the time and effort. Is there any way to cut-and-paste?
Also, the MacBook Pro will not allow me to rename multiple documents or photographs. I can click-and-rename a single one, but this is impossibly time consuming. I can batch-rename in iPhoto, but when I transfer the photographs to the external drive, the rename does not transfer.
I’m reduced to using my wife’s Toshiba to cut-and-past, rename, and transfer documents. It works perfectly. Is there any way to do this on the MacBook Pro?
    Thanks!

No, this is a philosophical difference between Apple and Microsoft. Apple believes that it's dangerous to cut a file in case the user never pastes it; in that case the file is lost. Microsoft seems to not have this problem (if I remember Windows correctly) because they don't delete the originating file if it's cut but never pasted.
Even though Macs have a lot of keyboard shortcuts, philosophically Macs have traditionally been mouse-first. This applies to file copy operations. In your case, what a Mac user would do is open the source window, open the destination window (on your second drive), and then Command-drag the selected files from the source to destination window. This is because a normal drag would leave the originals behind, while adding the Command modifier key tells OS X that this is a Move, not a Copy, so don't leave the originals behind.
(In addition there are different rules for drag-copying within the same volume or between different volumes. If you drag between two folders on the same volume, the files are moved. If you drag between different volumes, the files are copied unless you hold down Command to delete the copies on the source volume.)

Two problems in this case. First, batch file renaming is not built into OS X unless you build something with Automator. However, there are many utilities that can do batch file renaming which you can find at macupdate.com or on the App Store. Since I work with media I often batch rename using one of the media managers I have lying around like Media Pro or Adobe Bridge (comes with Photoshop).
iPhoto is a database front end designed to shield the file system from the consumer and let them concentrate on creativity and sharing. As such it is often a poor choice for managing files directly. When you "transferred the photographs" chances are you moved the originals, not the ones iPhoto edited which are stored in a hidden folder.

There will not be a way to do it exactly like Windows. As described above, there are ways to do it "the Mac way." If it is possible to remove judgment on which way is "better" you might find the Mac way to be acceptable, but of course sometimes we simply prefer what we're used to.

  • How do I copy parts of layers from one AI doc into a new AI doc and keep/create same layer names?

How do I copy PARTS of layers containing many objects from one CS5 AI (v.15.0.2) doc into a new CS5 AI doc and keep/create the same layer names?
To start with, I have one fairly complex AI document with 100 layers,  with several hundred items in each layer. For example, one layer named "Stars" contains  400 separate stars (not grouped), another layer named "Crosses" contains 300 separate crosses, and a 3rd layer named "Text" contains 200 separate words (not outlined).
If I select, by marqueeing a section of the image/artboard, some (but not all) of the individual items contained in the several layers, then  paste that selection into a new CS5 AI doc, I cannot get them to  create new layers of the same name. Instead they go into one general layer (e.g. "Layer 101") as a jumble of discrete, but unorganized objects (no layers or sublayers). In other words, I have lost the 3 main layers from which I selected a bunch of objects.
Checking "Paste Remembers Layers" has no effect on this result. In fact "Paste Remembers Layers" does not remember layers at all. Only if I select ALL the items in the several layers will it paste those layers by those names into the new doc (or create new layers of the same names).
Of course it is a COLOSSAL waste of time copying the ENTIRE document, then pasting the WHOLE thing into the new doc (with layers retained), then deleting the parts I DON'T need, so please don't suggest that as the solution.

No Monica, nothing in Plug-ins other than the standard installed items (extensions, filters, formats, etc.). No 3rd-part clipboard extension on my computer that I'm aware of, either. All frustratingly basic. And my other CS5 Adobe programs appear to work well, at least to the extent that I am familiar with them.
So, from what I can tell of the various comments (thanks to all of you), am I correct in thinking that it seems I can't, in fact, do what all of you can do (that is, copy some objects from some layers in one doc and paste into another doc preserving those same layers by name and organization, and each containing the correct objects from each original layer)?
If so, that solves half my issue - "is it supposed to be possible to do it"; leaving just the other half - "why can't I do it too".
I'll get those screenshots made and posted later just in case I haven't adequately described the issue, or y'all haven't understood it.

I need to edit out parts of a song to cut it down to two minutes for my daughter's talent show. I went to info/start time and it will cut down one part but only one part. I need to put three parts together. I tried adding duplicates of the song to the list but if If I change the start time on one it will change it on all of them.

In your library, right-click the song you want to edit.
    select "get info".
go to "options" and select the start and stop times for your first section of the song.
    click "OK".
Find the shortened version of the song in your library. It may take a minute for it to show up. right click it again and select "create (????) version". (the ???? is different for different formats).
The library will spit out a new, second version of the song which you can rename. I suggest you use the original title and add a 1 to the end.
Now you can go back to the other version and repeat the process with a different  start/stop time.
Once you are done editing, you can burn all of your versions to a disk, just make sure your interval time is zero so there are no gaps between edits.
To keep the orginal song on your library, just go back to the original and put the start/stop times back to the original settings.

    Hi,
Copy the content of PDF file in Adobe Reader and paset it to MS Word then create PDF file from the Word file.
This may not work for all PDF files as some PDF files are not created correctly or some content cannot be copied.
Acrobat XI Pro has features to extract/delete/crop pages in PDF files and you can download it from www.adobe.com(Trial version- 30 days free). Or you can upgrade your subscription to Acrobat Plus and see more information at https://www.acrobat.com/acrobatplus/en/home.html
