Cut and paste bug within Symbols - anyone else?

I've come across a bug in Illustrator CS6. When I cut and paste content from within a symbol into the same or another symbol it pastes all the content from that symbol into it again.
Anyone else having this issue?
I can provide screenshots to help explain.

Same issue here, this is a major problem for me as i use symbols all the time. First time i've had the issue with CS6 - maybe it was always there....
If i cut some text from selected text inside a symbol and paste that text back into another symbol, all the text contained within the first symbol gets pasted even though it was not seletced!

Cut and paste bug

Im having an issue with cut and paste commands. I can't paste anything unless I copy first then cut. If I cut then try to paste edit>paste will be shaded out and commandX does nothing. Sometimes its not shaded out but will paste what I have previously copied.
I found this out during a tutorial in which I had to cut and paste an effects paint layer to a new solid.
Im using CS5.5 on Macbook pro i7 8GB OSX 10.7.2.
So far I have tried - resetting preferences on start up. - Edit> purge >all. - Turning off system shortcuts. -Rebooting. None of these have made a difference. Anyone else had or having this issue? Any advise on what I should do next to try and resolve? Cheers.

Followed your steps exactly and it's exactly like I said in my previous post. Cut and paste works for effects. Here's exactly what I did except for the part where I created the worst illustrator art that I've ever seen. Just two layers, lovely colors. The .ai file is imported as a comp with retain layer sizes selected. A black brush is chosen set to write on and silhouette luma. The size is adjusted to cover the line easily, I paint on the line, press the e key to reveal the effect in the timeline. It's there, it's also in the ECW so I select the effect, cut it, go to the composition, use Cmnd+Y to create a new layer and paste Cmnd + V and the paint effect is applied to the solid.
There's something going on with your machine, some third party plug-in, some other app, some other issue that's preventing this from working.
Here's my little movie of the whole experiment.
I'd make sure that your AE version is the latest, that you have your memory and processing set to the defaults, and that you're not running any other apps while testing AE. If there's still a problem, file a bug. Your machine is not behaving as my machine and every other Mac I routinely work on is behaving.

Cut and Paste Bug with SUM( )

If SUM( ) refers to multiple ranges, and one of those ranges is Cut and then Pasted to another location, the SUM( ) function is not changed to reflect the new location of those Cut and Pasted cells. Instead, SUM( ) continues to refer to the original locations.
I tried this in Excel and it works well.

Photoshop cut and paste bug

HI,
I often take screenshots from my screen. I do this by hitting the 'PrtScrn' button on my keyboard. Then I go to PHotoshop, make a new image and paste, but it doesn't paste the recently copied screen that is in the clipboard...?! Does anyone have experience with this and know how to fix it?

Rob (post #1) on a good day, yes, but sometimes, often to be honest, it doesn't put the proper dimensions in OR paste the proper image.
Ok, yeah, because the clipboard date is still there for other programs, so I think it's a PS bug. I knew about closing and reopening, but what a PITA.
At least I'm not the only one. Thanks all.

"copy and paste text within symbol" bug

I am sure this has been discussed, but have not found it using search.
Follow these steps to demonstrate a "Symbol Text" bug (CS5 through CC 2014):
Create Symbol containing editable text.
Edit symbol by selecting and copying a portion of text at "Character" level in the Symbol
Paste as point or paragraph text.
The result is: ALL the text from the Symbol is pasted into the Point or Paragraph text object, NOT just the portion that was copied.
This bug has been present in AI at LEAST since CS5 and probably before. I'd sure like to see it fixed.

What I get is the copied text plus all the text in the symbol.

How do I cut and paste

I have just bought an apple having previously owned windows based computers. And was wondering if anyone can advice how you cut and paste things within social networking sites. It would appear I can not do it the same way as windows. Not sure why. I have not tried doing anything in word or excel yet.

This may be good information for cut, copy, and paste functions within a program that uses text or pictures within documents but not good advice for simple file management....
It is important to me that I maintain files without using up space by having duplicate files in multiple locations, ie. same file name with same contents under another parent file with differing name. I want to move multiple files from one parent file to another parent file that may contain the same file name. Upon doing so, I should get a pop up window that states I am trying to move a file with the same name to this new location that already contains a file with the same name and what do I want to do with it? Stop, Merge, Overwrite, etc. I would say stop because I want to verify if they are indeed the same contents and to continue with the moving of files for those that do not have a conflict. When all is said and done, I should only have those files left in the original parent file that had a conflict and all the others should have successfully moved to the new location parent file.
This is not the case with Mac. When I try this procedure, FIRST there is no CUT command using the command and mouse (right click) menu. SECOND if I selct all files in the parent file (command 'a') and drag to the new file location, I get all the previously mentioned options about files with the same names but when its done, I find that the files were only copied and not cut from their original location file. This makes it impossible to know which files are indeed duplicates since everything was left behind in the original parent file location.
What is the Darn answer??!! Don't tell me Apple was so stupid not to create a function that does this as all Windows based computers do.

CUT AND PASTE PHOTOS

Is there any way to cut and paste photos within a folder (like on a PC) without downloading a program? I'm talking about changing the order of the photos.Drag and drop is a pain and takes too long if you have an extreme amount of pics. Also, copy and paste is just an extra step. Tx!

When you trying to arrange 500 downloaded photos in the order that you want them it is not the same time drag then it is to cut and paste.
Maybe you should look at why you are trying to manually arrange 500 photos in a specific order, which sounds like exactly the type of tedious task computers are designed to avoid....
Various options:
if you want the best photos to show up first, you can rate them. It's easier to hit apple-3 to add three stars than to hit apple-x and apple-v to cut and paste. Then you can tell iPhoto to sort by rating, top to bottom. And the rating can be used for other purposes as well.
Or, iPhoto will automatically sort them by time and date--if the time and date are wrong, then better to use iPhoto tools to fix that once and for all, than to manually rearrange.
So--what are these 500 photos and exactly why are you trying to re-arrange them? What order do you want to browse them in? Cut-and-paste is just a tool to get to your ultimate goal--maybe if you describe that ultimate goal, someone here can provide a better path than manually re-ordering.

Forms cut and paste -Urgent!!!

I have a web deployed application in which I need the ability to cut text from other application windows, say notepad, and paste the text into text boxes in my form. Although it had worked previously, it now does not work.
What can I do to correct this?
I have changed the browser security settings to grant full permissions to unsigned content. Unfortunately I am still unable to cut and paste.
Do you have any further ideas for me? I can cut and paste from within my application, but I cannot paste values cut from other screens

We managed to solve this problem at our site doing the following:
Internet Explorer
Extra -> Internet-Options
Tabpage -> Security -> Icon 'Local Intranet' -> press button 'Customized level'.
Next select from the list: "Microsoft VM" -> "Permissions for Java" and select option "Changed".
Now press button "... for Java" located at the bottom of the page.
Now select Tabpage "Edit Certifications" (?)
Underneath "Uncertified content"-> "Execute uncertified content", select option "Activate" (?).
As we are using a Dutch Language desktop, I had to translate all actions from Dutch to English so I hope you make sense out of my description.

LR4 and Photoshop CS5 cut and paste?

I've begun using LR4 for website photo editing, but I'm finding that I still need to move the LR modified images into PS for cropping, final size, and resolution adjustments. When I chose Photo>Edit in>Edit in Adobe Photoshop CS5, I've been selecting, "Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments", which works fine.
However, when I cut and paste the resized LR image into another PS document, usually a master template, ALL of my LR adjustments dissapear and the photo is restored to its original settings. How can I keep all of the LR adjustments during a cut and paste operation within PS?

Bug With iTunes 6 cut and paste?

I've just installed iTunes 6, when I try to cut and paste lyrics into the lyrics box, it doubles the paste (it does it twice). I'm not having this problem in any other app, and I've rebooted, and it is still happening. Very very very annoying. Has anyone else had this problem. Is there a work around? I've replicated the problem on my G5 desktop.

Yes, but that was posted before 6.0.1, and they didn't fix it in 6.0.1...
He did not say it would be in the next update (6.0.1) which cam out very quickly, but that it would be fixed in a future update. At least you know they are aware of the problem and are working on it.

There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

Links within a table are changed to an absolute path when I cut and paste

We have help topics that contain tables and each cell in the table contains a hyperlink to another topic within the project. When I need to rearrange these links, I cut and paste them. When I cut and paste one of them, everything works as I would expect.
Unfortunately, if I select multiple links/cells at the same time and perform a cut and paste, the links are automatically changed. They go from being a relative path to an absolute path.
For example, this: ../MainMenu/Topic.htm#bookmark
Gets changed to this: C:/Projects/2015/IM/MainMenu/Topic.htm#bookmark
I'm using RoboHelp 9 with Windows 7.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Yes. The whole process of registering is messed up.
No guarantee this will work, try unistalling and reinstalling. Uninstall has to be done the Microsoft way. Go to Applications / MO 2008 / Additonal Tools / Remove Office / Remove Office.
Then reinstall the usual way. This might work.

Who else does not have cut and paste, or shift click anymore on Lion?

I can't cut and paste anything, and shift click doesn't work like it normally should. Shift click is acting like command shift insead of selecting everything between. Please, no ******** answers.

You don't have your numbers lock on or a shift key jammed or something do you? I have been using Lion since it was released and have never had nor seen an issue with the keyboard as yet. That's not to say you are not having one. Is it happening in particular programs? Have you installed any third party programs along the line like TypeIt4Me or such?

Cut and paste from text field not working in early access JRE 1.90-ea-b38

I noticed that cut and paste no longer works with JRE 1.9 on Windows 7 professional. Anyone else having that problem?

Again why do you have a custom TableModel? It is not required for the SSCCE and in fact is not required for your real program.
Why is KeyListener code included. It has notthing to do with your question.
2) I also suggested you add the mouse listener to the text area. Well, the text area is defined in the popup dialog, not the editor in my original SSCCE. So why have you made the code so complex by defining a second text area?
I did look at your sample program (the table with pop-up menu appearing on right-click) That was only a wild guess because you didn't respond the second time when I asked you why the mouse listener wasn't added to the text area.
