Cut and Paste Causing Crashes

I just installed CS 6 Cloud and now I can't copy, cut, or import from Illustrator anymore.  It crashes flash, fireworks, and photoshop.  Illustrator cs6 x86 won't open any files at all.  I'm on Windows 7, Dell Precision, 8 GB ram.  Anybody know what to do with all these mdmp crash logs?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
J

Does anyone have a solution to this problem which has cropped
up over the past couple of days?
I am using RH6. When I try to cut and paste text, or copy -
all standard word-style functions, RH crashes. I have trued the
usual tricks to repar my corrup[ed database, but the problem will
not go away. I recently tried to import a word document, which I
suspect has cause the problem. Now, how do I fix this?

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to copy and paste.
I've found that when I try to copy and paste links that
appear in a list in the WYSIWYG editor, RH crashes. If I do the
copy and paste in the TrueCode editor, it works just fine. If your
topics are in a list, make sure you add the necessary HTML (
    <ul> <li> </li> </ul> ).
If you're trying to copy and paste an entire topic, this
    won't work for you.

  • Finder crashes when i cut and paste

For the last few days, every time that i try to cut and paste files from one folder to another through the finder, finder crashes and i have to relaunch. interestingly, the files are actually pasting properly into the destination folder notwithstanding that finder hangs and stops responding every time. this has been happening with file folders that are about 150 - 250 Mbs in size. All that i'm doing is command-a (select all), command-c and then in the destination folder, command-v. The screen pops up which says that the computer is gathering info about the files to be pasted and then the swirly "working" mouse icon comes on and doesn't leave. Eventually i have to relaunch finder. This has happened about 10 times in a row. I'm not running any other applications at the time (other than widgets).
    Any thoughts? Thanks.

I'm going to ask around in the meantime run Repair Disk and see if it turns anything up:
EDIT: Actually, you can run "verify disk" from Disk Utility on your Mac. If that turns up anything then follow the instructions to repair.
    Steps for using Disk Utility
    1. Insert your Mac OS X CD-ROM disc or Restore DVD disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key until you see the spinning gear..
    2. Once started up from CD or DVD, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from disc to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume, if necessary.
    6. Click Repair.
If you repair errors run it until no errors found.

I was trying to cut and paste some messages from one of my mailboxes to another mailbox, and Mail crashes every time and my messages were deleted!  I can copy and paste, just not cut and paste.  Has anyone else experienced this?  I am currently on Mail 7.2, Mac Book Pro, OSX 10.9.2, which is the latest. I really wanted to save these emails, too!

  • Cut and pasting clips to a new movie causes 15x file size increase!!

I'm using 6.04 iMovie. I'm converting 8mm analog video via Canopus 300 into imovie. These movies were of an action sport and very few clips are over ten minutes when imported.
I have 4 files(sourced from 4 tapes) from 22-28GB in imovie. I have edited these files, removing bad video, unwanted scenes and have added transitions and titles. The resulting files are each from 22-28Gb's in size.
I then went to make a highlight video by copying and pasting clips from two of the movies. The resulting highlight movie exceeds 160Gb's I have two more movies to past clips from!
I am aware of the "non-destructive" editing feature of Imovie. In the process of editing the individual movies and putting together the highlight movie I emptied trash frequently.
    My questions:
1.) What is the best procedure to cut and paste clips from movies to make a highlight movie?
2.) What can i do with my highlight video to get the size back down to around 15 Gb's? (I've only used about 25% of each of the two first tapes in the highlight video)
    Thanks

    Hello, Scott,
iMovie moves clips to the trash that you have deleted.....if you are not using any part of that clip. If you are using any part of it, the parts you crop out, 'delete,' will be removed from your movie, but not put into trash and not removed from iMovie's project file. If you use 10 seconds of a 30 second clip, for example, but later decide that you really need to have more than the 10 seconds, say you need 15 seconds, all you have to do is go click on that 10 second clip in your movie and then go to 'Advanced' and select 'Revert clip to original' and iMovie will put back the entire clip for you to re-crop.
It is not exactly the same for still photos. If you are using still photos with the Ken Burns effect, emptying the trash will remove the photo's 'clip' and you will not be able to redo the KB effect if you decide to change it. Leaving the trash alone will permit iMovie to retrieve the photo so that you can make those edits. Some of us never empty the trash in iMovie.
When you export as Full quality Quick Time, you are getting just that.....Full Quality, no changes from the original. Your movie is not being compressed, it is shortened because you are saving only the clips that are actually used in the movie, not all the rest. Nothing is lost in quality and you can edit as usual, except for the ability to retrieve any clips that are not in the movie. You will not be able to use the 'Revert clip to original,' now because you have a new set of 'originals.'
So, when you export to quicktime, be sure that you are completely finished with the cropping of your clips and that you will not need to add anything that you previously deleted. I export to quicktime and then open a new iMovie and import the new qt movie into that. Once you see that it plays properly, you can delete the first iMovie and just work with this one. However, it will come in as one large clip, with audio and video incorporated into one track. You will not be able to re-edit titles and effects. (Well, you CAN do it a bit, but it is tricky and you will lose some footage).
I actually make a quicktime version of almost all of my iMovies. I find that this process eliminates any jerkiness or stuttering of my longer movies. I edit the original iMovie by cropping clips, adding photos, putting in titles and transitions. I then add audio last, usually first some short audio clips to go with some of the photos, and then I add background music last. I usually export to quicktime during the adding music part, whenever iMovie starts playing back in a stuttering way. The new quicktime movie is smooth and I can finish my music additions easily.
Apparently, the latest version of quicktime is much better for the jerkiness problem, but I have been hesitant to upgrade since I am in the midst of doing about 4 iMovies.
    Good luck with your project!

  • Cut and paste in place ... not in place

i cut and paste in place from a layer to an other and its not in the right place. it seems new since CS6
i have multiple artworks on my file but i could do it since then. do you now how to not talke care of it ?

Well that might be the way you wish it to work but it does not work that way and it was feature request that was overwhelming desired sothe behavior was made so that when you pasted in place it pasted in place relative to the active artboard.
Thought there are global rulers there are still artboards and if someone wants more than one artboard this would be expected behavior.
You have a choice of how you can do what you wish to do
    1. you can keep the artboard panel visible and simply select the artboard you want to be active that will not affect then selected object or layer and theen either paste in front or paste in back or paste in place
2 select your object to be cut, then the object on the layer you wish to paste the object and then slect the original artboard by clciking on the edge of the artboard that will not change the layer you now have selected and choose one of the three paste options mentioned. this is actually a better choice because if you are working on that artboard you want it selected incase you need to bring it into focus.
    3. You can cange the focus to the artboard you want by selecting in from the artboard list at the bottom left of the document window.
However though you are being a little cute about this it is I believe a feature request to be able to paste in place relative to the global rulers.
And I do think this is an oversight which may have been deliberately done as it is possible that it might cause a problem at the moment to paste according to the global rulers and refcous back to that artboard, I can see where this might be a delicate coding issue and instead of a crash it would be better not tyo have it at all as I doubt many people would work this way.
I think most people would work in a more organized way and want to keep track of what they are doing in a more conscious way and simply select the layer they want in the layers paneleven if it might be slower it would also be less prone to pasting on the wrong layer.
We also just had some one post about selecting an object on the canvas and dragging the selection dot in the laayers panel to the layer they wandted it now to reside.
They claim that is faster cut and paste, they actually said it did not work but it does.
Here's the link to the feature request page.
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Don't be surprise if they change this behavior and there are many users who do not like it.

  • Multiple problems: can't open two windows, browser doesn't close although window disappears, and after working for a while I loose my ability to cut and paste or use drop down arrows

Maybe two weeks ago I discovered that I could no longer open two windows at a time (I can still open multiple tabs). I am also having problems with cutting and pasting, which is crucial to my on-line job. Plus, when I exit Firefox, it doesn't always shut down, so then when you go to re-open, of course, it won't (unless you go into process and turn it off). I have re-installed multiple times and I have also used restore. Nothing seems to be fixing this and I really, really don't want to use IE, especially for work.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    See also "Hang at exit":

Maybe also do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.<br />
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.<br />

  • Mac running slow when cut and paste

    Hi,
recently I noticed that my mac is running slow when I cut and paste (there is a delay of approx 1-2 secs). I thought it might be some kind of spyware which is trying to steal sensitive information such as passwords, credit cards and others. That would be surprising as I thought those were still rare in Mac. Any thought on this? Suggestions on how to protect my mac from these security issues? Thanks in advance!
    Mauro

    Morning smartasso,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you find your Mac is running slowly, there are a number of potential causes that you can check.
For more information on this, take a look at this article:

  • Cut and Paste Cross References

As some of you know, I'm updating a book composed of chapter files, with cross references between chapters. This used to be incredibly buggy, with crashes and broken references common. Some of that is improved in CS5.5, but a couple of big issues remain, and I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions.
    Two problems:
You generally can't cut and paste a cross reference. I have text that says "see page 27". I want to move this somewhere else in the same document. Cut it. Paste it. The paste comes in looking like this: "see <?>" -- and you get a broken link in the Hyperlinks panel. That really limits text editing. It doesn't always happen. Sometimes you'll paste and your cross reference works. But that's rare. And you can never copy and paste. That always breaks.
Cross references refer to absolute file pathnames. I'd like to rename some chapter files. But I dare not because I assume that all cross references to destinations in those files will break.
Anybody have any suggestions for either of these things? Number 1 is a real work-stopper right now.
    Many thanks,
    Steve

Okay, guys -- I've made some progress. And I really appreciate your support, now, and in the past.
Upgrading from 7.5.2 to 7.5.3 -- no improvement,
Save a new copy of the file via Save As -- no improvement,
Export as IDML and then just double-click the IDML to open it -- worked! (Is that the correct procedure? Anything else I need to do?)
It's still just about suicidal to try and edit text in any story containing multiple cross references to chapter files that aren't open. And adding a new cross reference is super-slow, during which time you're sure you're going to crash. But with the imported file, the new cross ref held.
One other point of confusion: new cross references display differently than ones created in older versions of the software. The old ones have dark grey boxes around them. New ones have light blue boxes. No mention of this in the help file that I could find. Even if you update an old cross ref, the dark grey remains. Only starting from scratch produces light blue.
Something corrupted that file, which IDML got rid of. It was corrupted by doing little more than adding or updating a bunch of cross references, and doing some minor text editing. No images in the file, so that had nothing to do with it.
Chapter file sizes, since you asked, are anywhere from 3 to 40 mb. The file I was having problems with is only 2.5 mb. The book contains 22 chapters. Long ago I converted it from one big file to separate chapters. Easier to manage, chapter numbering works more logically and chapter starts are easier to handle. But cross references worked a lot better with the single file.
In any event, problem solved for the moment, so thanks very much again. But Adobe really needs to look at this. It's been broken for way too long.
    Steve

  • I cut and pasted a description from the Internet. It posted as a link in iPhoto. It seems to have made a global change--all my descriptions are now blue, underlined, and Times Roman 12 rather than Arial white. How can I get this back to the default?

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • I've suddenly lost the Cut and paste function.... Firefox or system problem?

In the last 2 -3 days I do not get the cut and paste options when I highlight and right click. This is across the board.

Start Firefox in a special diagnostic mode called "Safe mode:"
    * Click the Firefox button and in the help menu, select '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled'''
    * Or in Firefox 4-9, hold down '''Shift''' while selecting the shortcut you normally use to open the browser
    * ''For now if you encounter a Safe Mode window, select <u>Continue in Safe Mode</u>.
If your problem is gone with Safe Mode, it is most likely caused by an add-on. Read [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] to find the culprit.
