'cut-out' images from Photoshop import into FCE with unwanted background

I want to import some custom 'cut-out' images from Photoshop, but they come into FCE with a rectangular background around them. Is there a way to import just the irregular 'cut-out' image?
Bob

Make sure the images are RGB 8-bit and in a format that carries an alpha channel or Photoshop transparency like Photoshop, TIFF, PNG, even PICT.

  • Importing Cut Out Images from Photoshop w/out White Background?

    Hello Everyone,
I am brand new to Illustrator. I have been a Photoshop user all these years. I am trying to import a photo to Illustrator CS5 that I cutout using this method:
    http://thedesigned.com/2009/08/21/how-to-cut-out-images-like-a-professional-in-photoshop/
Unfortunately it superimposes itself into Illustrator with a white background when I thought it would be transparent surrounding the image. I opened the file in Illustrator as a PSD. But I tried .jpg as well. Anyone know how to work around this?
    Thanks!
    Randall

Well from the looks of the tutorial which leaves a lot of info out you ended up flattening the image so that the background is now white but that is hard to tell from the tutorial.
If your background is white you should rmove it in in photoshop and save the image as a psd with no background layer only a transparent layer of the subject.
Then place that .psd in Illustrator and your background will be transparent.
I suggest placing it rather than opeining it in AI.
Like such: (even my signature is a psd on a tansparent layer.)

  • I dragged a cut out image from one photoshop document into another and now it is blurry. What to do?

I dragged a cut out image from one photoshop document into another and now it is blurry. What can I do to prevent this?

What is the resolution of the image that you "dragged"? The resolution is the number in pixels per inch (ppi). If you dragged a significantly lower resolution file into a higher resolution file, it could result in a blurry image.
    see below:

You can determine the image size by choosing Image > Image Size

  • Cut out images on Premiere Pro

Okay well I was just wondering how they usually cut out images and put them on videos with premiere pro? I see some people doing videos that allow this. Below I have a attached a symbol "ten" I want to insert that into a video, but when I insert it you still see the white around it. Any specific program I have to use to cut out the white and put it onto a video?
    http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x238/tai230/11111lalala.jpg

    Dino,
Unfortunately, the links you provided do not work on my browser, IE7, and the images do not disply.
Let me take a guess at what you wish to do. You want a graphic "10" with the video showing though it. Is that even close? If it is, you want the Track Matte Keying Effect. This will require that you have your background Video on Video Track 1 (VT1), your "inset footage" on VT2, your Track Matte Keying "matte" on VT3, and then add the Track Matte Keying Effect to your video on VT2, linking to the matte on VT3. You have a few settings, like Luma/Alpha and Invert. You may need to experiment with each of these, to get your desired effect.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS Help and the manual have much more information on Track Matte Keying, as does this tutorial on another use for it. Different application, but the principle is the exact same.

  • What settings are best to export sharpened images from Photoshop to use in Final Cut?

I need to give a professional photographer the correct dimensions to export her images from Photoshop for me to use in Final Cut. I told her:
1080 x 1920, 300 dpi, and also to Convert Images to Apple RGB (Final Cut doesnt work well with Adobe RGB, I am told). Her images have alot of heavy sharpening on them--she is an artist--and when i import them into Final Cut, many of the lines that should be crisp are zig-zagged, and if I apply motion to them, they "shake."
My problem is specific to images that have been highly sharpened in Photoshop; i have imported lots of professional images before with no problem. I am on deadline and hope someone out there will see this.

You were right about trashing the finalcut plist. As well as a very specific set of directions I now have put together from what you and others have said elsewhere, and this is it, i hope it helps others with their Canon XHA1 and Final Cut Express HD:
Trash the final cut preferences (plist) in your Home - LIbrary.
go into the Canon XHA1 menu, make sure that you're not set to down-convert to DV.
Get out of the menu. Shut the camera off,
plug in the firewire cable to both the camera and computer,
and turn the camera back to VCR mode.
Open up Final Cut, and go to Easy Setup ,
choose HDV- Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60
This worked beautifully but took me nearly four hours to figure out, including researching the web and experimenting in FCE HD

  • Problem: importing a transparent image from Photoshop to Premiere.

    Dear Adobe community,
I am trying to import a transparent image from Photoshop to Premiere Pro CC. Whatever file format I choose to export from Photoshop, Premiere Pro CC will not import the file correctly. When I import is, two things occur: 1) the image gets imported, but the white background is still there or 2) the image gets an error "The importer reported a generic error".
Does anyone have an idea how I can get an image with a white background transparent into Premiere Pro CC.
    Specs:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, eind 2013)
    2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    16GB RAM
    1536MB Intel Iris videocard
    Thanks!
    Christiaan

You need to make sure the image has an alpha channel.
Images like jpeg dont have an alpha channel.
Psd or png do and the image has to be RGB.
Make sure the background in PS is also transparant.

  • Problems Importing from a DVD into FCE

    Hi all
I have successfully imported all my own footage from my dv camcorder in FCE 4 for a wedding and placed it into a sequence. However I have recently received more footage from another chap that was filming on the day, whom gave it to me on a DVD.
I know nothing about what camcorder he was using but initially I have two big problems: There is no audio and the image is squashed once imported into FCE (he shot widescreen and I shot 4:3), however my DVD player plays the audio.
The video files read like this "VTS01.VOB", however there seems to be other files supporting: "VTS01.BUP" and "VTS01.IFO" if thats any help on how to fix the problem? I really need the audio to work in FCE and some advice on changing the widescreen clips to my 4:3 project without looking squashed.
    Any advice much appreciated!
    Thanks
    Kev

Hi guys thanks for the links!
I think I would rather go for the hardware route simply because it sounds cheaper. I don't have an analog/ digital converter so an considering recording DVD output onto DV tape then importing it into FCE via my camcorder.
I'm kinda new to this video stuff so I have no idea how to do this. Can I just connect my Canon MVX20i to my DVD player somehow and record it to tape? I initially tried to connect it with the red, white and yellow connections in the back of the DVD player (to my camera) but nothing is happening. Neither on the record setting or playback setting on my camera.
    Any advice?
    Cheers for the help!

  • How do I get a raw image from "My Pictures" into Photoshop?

How do I get a RAW image from "My Pictures" into Photoshop? When I send it to Photoshop , it shows up as a grey checkerboard. The title is on the top. Whe I try to send a picture from Camera Raw, it does the same thing.

Has it ever worked or is this just something that started happening recently?
Have you tried resetting the photoshop preferences file?
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
Have you installed the latest updates for photoshop cs5?
In photoshop cs5 go to Help>Updates
To post the system info here on the forum it might depend on your browser, but using firefox as an example, you would open the system info in photoshop, press Copy then OK.
Here on the forum you would press the ctrl key and paste.

  • Importing Images from iPhoto 11 into Elements 12 Organizer

A friend is having lots of trouble trying to move his images from iPhoto 11 into the Elements Organizer, version 12.
Someone tried to do it for him and he has hundreds of folders in the organizer that don't make any sense and often have only one image in them.
To help him I would like to do two things:
    1.  How can we delete the entire import and start over?
    2.  What is the correct way to move these images into the elements organizer?
    Thanks for your help.
    Mary Lou
PS:  It occurs to me that perhaps he needs to export them to his hard drive and then import then into the Organizer.  Might this be correct? If it is, he will still need to get rid of all the folder there now.

To anwser the two questions you asked-
    1.  How can we delete the entire import and start over? : You may select all media in Elements Organizer grid (which he imported from iPhoto) and hit Delete key
    2.  What is the correct way to move these images into the elements organizer? : The correct way is what he already did. Actually the folder naming convention is same as that of iPhoto. If you see the package contents of iPhoto Library, these folders can be seen there as well. When importing in Elements Organizer, it creates a copy of the iPhoto folder structure and then imports in the catalog.
    Thanks

  • Building a site out of sliced images from photoshop

I've just begun a web design class and i assume that the instructor has us building sites this way cuz pretty much none of us have any idea how to use CSS (pretty much everyone in the class is brand new to web design, myself included).  So i'm pretty much trying to build the entire thing/layout with a 945 pixel wide table (height to be 625 when everythings in place).
It isn't working though, once i start splitting and merging stuff gets really messed up, like the measurements of cells appear to almost randomly change and when i try to change them back it like, wont work.
i seriously dont know why this isnt working, google search has answered this question not at all.  i just dont think i dont know how to use tables, which i need to do in order to complete his assignments.
    plz halp meh T.T

Building a site out of sliced images from Photoshop is a poor way for your instructor to begin your web design/Dreamweaver learning.
Site layouts built this way are fragile and inflexible.
Once you start splitting and merging cells and moving cell borders around, you open a world of debugging and troubleshooting.
Much better to learn some elementary HTML and CSS first then learn Dreamweaver in a weekend. Dreamweaver makes so much more sense when you do.
As it is, you're trying to learn Dreamweaver, HTML (and a little CSS) simultaneously on the fly. Really inefficient way to do it.
Tables in web design are elastic by nature i.e. they collapse to fit snug against the content inside them.
Since you're already on this journey, remove your cell dimensions entirely and see what happens.

  • Capturing with iMovie and importing into fce 4

Hi, everytime I try to capture mini dv footage from my Panasonic camcorder using final cut express, the transfer/capture crashes.
However, capturing using iMovie 08 gives me no problems at all.
Before I spend more time looking into the errors, if I capture using iMovie 08 and then import that into fce 4, am I losing any audio / video quality? I read somewhere that iMovie works off raw dv files - is this what would get imported into fce?
Note: I would import the iMovie project into fce and not be exporting first from iMovie and then importing into fce.
    thanks

My video is on mini-DV. The camera I used to record was a panasonic ag-dvx100 PAL. I am using DV-PAL easy setup. I am playing back with a panasonic nv-ds30 camcorder (I rented the other one).
I have now managed to get past the dropped frames - that seemed to have been the test tape. I am now using a different tape, the actual tape i used for the footage. Now everytime I capture (using either mark in/out or capture now) the capture stops with a locating timecode and then breaks. I can't seem to capture it all in one go. This scene when I shot it was a single scene so there were no stops/pauses during the recording.
There seemed to be some discussion on this in the thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4183209#4183209) but that was a different camera.
    any help would be great.

  • How to insert cropped images from photoshop without the white background

Basically all I want to do is take a peice of writing from a video and insert it into another video. To do this I've took a screenshot of the font from the video and imported it into photoshop. I've then cropped/cut/took the the peice of writing I want, letter by letter. I want to be able to insert it into another video, but whenever I attempt to do it, I have the default white background of photoshop. Is there anyway to insert an image from photoshop, without taking the background with it, or even insert a layer from photoshop straight into final cut pro? Sorry if this is confusing.

I don't think so. I cropped the letters, put them each an individual file, removed the background, saved them as a TIF then tried to import them onto Final Cut Pro, but a white background still appeared in the TIF file. Basically I just want to make the background transparent I believe.

  • Copy and Paste Images from Photoshop

I can INSERT psd, jpg, (any) image files into Dreamweaver. I
can COPY text from Word or Internet. I can COPY images off of
    Internet...
...but I can NOT copy from Photoshop (jpg or psd) into
Dreamweaver. Simply does not copy. Paste is not an option. Grayed
    out. Hmmm. Any ideas?

    @Michael Fesser
I expect that upon entering Ctrl+V or Paste at an insertion
point in Dreamweaver, to be greeted with the "Optimize for Web
& Devices" dialogue box, after which I input the appropriate
settings (a jpg, gif, or png file is created), the image would
appear in the document just as though I inserted it via myriad
    other conventional methods.
I'm taking the Lynda tutorial (Dreamweaver CS4 Essentials)
and following along EXACTLY, and am unable to recreate the copy and
    paste from Photoshop.
Also, see this Adobe Dreamweaver Help & Support Tutorial
    http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/dreamweaver/articles/lrvid4043_dw.html
Go down about halfway to: Cutting and Pasting from Photoshop
    into Dreamweaver
I cannot recreate what is shown here either.
    @toastieo
Yes, the Save For Web is how I've done things all along. Now
I'm taunted with the prospect of doing a quick edit and insert with
copy & paste, and it doesn't work for me! I guess I can live
without it, but I would have rather been blissful in my ignorance
    of the possibility!
