Cut out specific parts of a photo manually ?

i want to remove / cut out specific pat of the photo , anothers face and keep only my face in the photo. I cant do it by croppin- i need a specicific shape or oval or square to cut the pieces out- where do i find that tool to edit the photo?

Not in iPhoto. You'll need an external editor for that kind of work.
In order of price here are some suggestions:
Seashore (free)
The Gimp (free)
Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
Acorn ($50 approx)
Pixelmator ($50 approx)
Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

How do you cut out a part of an image on a photo that you have added to Pages. For example, if I have added a picture of a giraffe to Pages how would I cut out the giraffe from the image and get rid of the rest of the image

You can use the instant alpha tool to make the background transparent.
FYI: Pages is part of iWork, not iLife.

Make your selection and then use Refine Edge.

  • I want to cut out a section of a photo

I have a picture of my 1950 Studebaker Commander and I want to cut it out form the background and save to a file. I have tired using the crop tool, but it only lets me cut out in a square or rectangle shape. I know there has to be a way to do this!

As mike suggested, Photoshop Elements if very capable of doing what you want. Here's an example of that very thing.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

No it doesn't. You'll need an editor with a lasso tool for that kind of work.

    Hi,
From your post, I see that you are very new to audio recording on a computer.
I HIGHLY recommend you buy a book on this subject. There are many out there, I suggest this one

  • How do I cut out an image from one photo and paste it in another photo?

Help!  I did use the scissors and eraser tool to cutout unwanted background, and now I have an image I want to save and copy to another photo.  The problem is that Elements 11 won't let me open up another photo at the same time, or let me copy the selected image to clipboard to paste on a different photo.  Adobe's  info. on how to do this seems to be sketchy.

    Try this:
Open photo B, the one that you want to add an object to. Minimize this.
Open Photo A, and using one of the selection tools, e.g. selection brush, lasso tool, make a selection of the object that is to be transferred to B. You will see "marching ants" when the selection is complete.
Go to Edit menu>copy to place the selection on the clipboard
    Go back to photoB
    Go to Edit>paste
With the move tool, position the object and resize with the corner handles of the bounding box.

  • Cutting out segments in a audio files

I have a 12 minute interview I want to cut to 7 minutes, I only want to cut out specific parts is this possible?

Yes, this is quite straightforward in iMovie '11 (which I'm assuming you are using).
Move the playhead (red vertical line that follows the pointer) to the first position where you wish to cut portion of the video and audio. Click and drag across the timeline to highlight the section to be removed (a yellow border will enclose the selected video). Place the pointer within the yellow border, then right-click (or Control-click). From the pop-up menu, select Delete Selection. Alternatively, select Split Clip - the section to be removed will now be a separate clip which you can delete by pressing the Delete key on the keyboard.
You can also detach audio from the video clip. This will place the embedded audio (from the video track) into a separate audio track that appears below the video thumbnails in the timeline. To detach audio, right-click (or Control-click) on a video clip then select Detach Audio from the pop-up menu.
The detached audio can now be split independently from the video (if desired). Right-click on the audio track and select Split Clip from the pop-up menu. Once split, you can drag the ends of the clips inwards using the grab handles (left/right arrows that appear when you hover the pointer over the clip ends). This action effectively removes sections of audio independently of the video. You can also drag across a section of the waveforms to highlight that section, then drag the volume line up or down to increase or lower the volume for that section.
Note that when detaching audio, the original audio remains in the video track but is muted. A copy of the audio is placed in the separate track below the video track. So, if you delete any of the detached audio, it can be re-introduced by adjusting the volume level in the main video track (if necessary, double-click on the video to open the Inspector, then adjust audio in the Audio tab of the Inspector).
Please ask if you need more information about any of this.
    John
EDIT: For ease of editing, it's best to set some preferences in the menu item iMovie > Preferences. In the General tab, check the boxes for "Show Advanced Tools" and for "Display time as HH:MM:SS:Frames". Also, in the Browser tab, check the box for "Show Fine Tuning controls".

  • Layers  cut outs

Is it possible in photoshop elements 10 or 11 to cut out an area from a photo and replace it with part of another photo?
Example manual : cutting a hole in a piece of paper and then moving the paper over a photo below until just the right part showed through and then merging.

There are several ways to do this. Here is one:
    http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1pJdxDU4j9ppV8NnnRPiGHW7AS4SfV1
    Open the picture file
Open a blank layer above the background layer. Layer 1
Fill Layer 1 with color. I chose red for demonstration. Temporarily reduce the layer opacity so that you can see the background layer
Access the Elliptical Marquee tool, drag out the oval to embrace the object below, and hit delete on the keyboard
    Go to Select>deselect
    Flatten

  • How Do I Cut Out?

Please can somebody tell me how to take a photo - cut out an object in said photo - and have the newly cut object be its own new entity?
I just want to cut stuff out of existing photos...I used to have an old Photoshop where I did lots of this - but none of those tools seem to be part of this new version I have...
    please help!!

You have to make a selection.  The tool many use is the quick selection tool.  Then click refine edege box in tool bar to adjust.  Then use ctrl C to copy and ctrl V to paste.

  • How can I move part of one photo into another photo?

In older versions of Photoshop you could see two or more frames in the work area and cut an paste parts of one photo into another photo by using the "move" tool after the area to be moved was selected. I am having trouble discerning how to achieve this action in CC. Could someone in the forum with this experience give me some steps to take to complete this process? Thanks.

    Thanks Trevor!

  • Can you use objects as "cut outs" for other objects when they are only bitmaps?

Hi, If this is possible, this would help me a TON.
I am using Flash CS4 professional
I will explain the issue. I have made a tree with a tree trunk and on top of the trunk I have made steps. I am making a Flash Game and you have to go up this steps to continue on the level, while being able to collide with the parts of the tree that aren't the steps. To do this, I would have to cut out the parts on the trunk that are the steps. I have already made the steps. It would take a long time to remake them when the trunk is isolated as a selection and delete the part. If there is a way to just put the already made steps on the bit map and then use it as some kind of cookie cutter-like thing, it would be VERY useful for many things. If something like this exists, or if there is any way to do something like this, PLEASE TELL ME !

  • IS CUTTING OUT VIDEO AND OPTION?

Is that any way to cut out a part of video to replace it with another piece?  i wanted to have an interview playing with the head to be something else.  Would that work?  I tried cropping but it didnt' work good enough.  Please help!  I have Premiere Elements 7.0

Are you talking about replacing the head of the speaker with another head, or similar? If so, they what you are talking about is Keying, done with a Matte. Also, PrE has Video Merge, in the later versions, and it might be helpful for what you want.
If the replacement "head" was shot against a green screen, then things get a whole lot easier. This ARTICLE, while for other programs, might be useful for some ideas.
Depending on exactly what you are shooting for, it might be that another program, like Adobe AfterEffects, will be required.
Can you post screen-caps of your "original footage," and then show us what you would like to replace the "head" with? That might tell us the best method for you to explore. Different footage, and different uses will dictate different methods and maybe programs.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - if you do not need exact Keying, you might want to explore Garbage Matte on the Clip in the higher Video Track, as it will be much more precise than the general 4-sided Crop Effect.
