Cut/Paste from PS to AI

how can I copy and past from photoshop to illustrator without getting the note: Quicktime and a decompressor are necessary?

I am using CC PS and AI CS4
When I try to cut and paste or drag and drop from one to the other the note
comes up "Quicktime decompressor is need to view this picture."
I have always been able to do this prior to CC.
Can you help?
I have Quicktime pro.....so that is not the issue.

Cut/Paste from Word to Illustrator CS3 for Mac suddenly not working

This issue regards Illustrator CS3 for Mac on a Mac Pro with 6 GB.
Exactly one week ago I created a number of Illustrator files by cutting charts from a Word 2008 document and pasting them into an Illustrator document.
In the past I have dragged the images (or clip art) or simply used Control-C or even Control-X, but by whatever method I opted for, getting the image from Word to Illustrator CS3 has not been a problem.
Yesterday I got a new chart and a request to replace an old image - one that I had created last week on Tuesday by the Drag/Drop or Cut/Paste method.   For reasons I can't begin to imagine the process simply won't work now.
I also find that if I simply select text in a Word Document, hit Ctrl-C and then try a Ctrl-V in Illustrator I don't get to see my text pasted in - ONLY if I already have a text block open and the cursor in place will I get to see the text copied over into Illustrator. This is very strange and not at all how things have worked in the past - typically I would see the new Text Object just appear, and then I could move it to wherever I wanted.
I have opened up a number of old files that I know were created with copied text and also opened the associated Word files (earlier versions of Word) and again find that I can't copy text over, or even move images over - even though I clearly could do this before. I have also tried entirely new files - also with no success.
I was at an Apple one-to-one session this morning and they were more than mystified by this. I can Cut and Paste into Adobe Photoshop Elements, but I can't even cut and paste from Adobe Photoshop Elements into Illustrator CS3.   I can drag the Photoshop file (from the Finder window) into the Illustrator document and poof - get my image that way, but it's as an image only. If the base image in question is a vector image or something else having a plurality of elements, I can't then select the elements in Illustrator to change their color, delete them, or otherwise play with them.
I have brought up a word document on another Mac system that also has Illustrator CS3 and find that it too can't drag/drop cut/paste between the two applications.   At Apple, we did confirm that such ability is operational in the new Illustrator CS4, but none of their store systems still have CS3 to provide yet a third system to test.
I have deleted my Illustrator CS3 preferences, tried flushing the p-ram, and of course run fix and repair permissions - no dice.
My Mac systems update daily and there is nothing in the main update log that shows anything for Adobe or Office (nor do I think there should be). Adobe Update reports that everything is up to date, and I don't see a history file to know what might have changed in the last week.   Office also reports fully up to date and happy.
As I can cut and paste the images into an email for Mail and into Photoshop, I am fairly certain that it is NOT a Microsoft Office 2008 issue. The fact that another Mac with Illustrator CS3 also can't cut and paste suggests that is is really not something personal to my main system.
It is almost as if this is some clandestine "update" intended to encourage me to buy Illustrator CS4. Given that I bought Illustrator CS3 less than a year ago, I really am not eager to buy the new version.   The greeting on the Adobe Support page that CS3 is no longer the current version and therefore supported was most annoying.
I am really hoping that someone out there has an idea of what to try changing, removing and/or adjusting with respect to Adobe Illustrator CS3.

I tried the Select by Path option - can't believe I missed it - and found it made no difference.
I actually uninstalled and reinstalled the whole app. When I tried to simply re-install (can't remember it's exact phrase) it got part way through and then demanded another disk - but I only have one DVD with the application - the extra DVD is for tutorials and it didn't accept that one either. So I restarted that process and chose to completely uninstall. Then reinstalled - hey with only my one disk - gee, just like the first time.   And then it seemed to work.
I was not aware of the save as PDF option - but yes I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 for Mac so that option is there - and it seems to work too.
There were of course a slue of updates, and I let them all proceed - but even with them all in place the system is fine and I can once again drag and drop / cut and paste things back and forth.   I just tried a text block and "The Quick Brown Fox" pasted in with a clipping mask about 10 times the size of the document, but other than that it was ok.
So I have things working again on my primary system.   Will try and figure out what's wrong with the other one - but a reinstall might be the easiest game there too.

How do I copy a phone # from contacts to paste into a message? I can't figure out how to select a nyumber in contacts...

Select the contact, and choose "Edit." Then select the appropriate telephone number and follow the "Cut/Copy/Paste procedure. I presume you do not want to "Cut." Finally select "Done" but make sure you did not actually make any changes.

Unable to copy/cut/paste from within custom file naming dialogue (in exporting images)

When I go into the export dialogue and select a portion of a file naming scheme, I cannot get it into the clipboard. I had wanted to cut a portion of the specification, export with an amended name, and then paste the original back. I am running the beta in Win7 64-bit.

Advice:
1) Check Copy in sand-boxed app. in 1.6.0_24+.
2) Do not hi-jack the threads of other people. Start a new thread and if you think another thread relates to your problem, link to it.

Can't cut & paste from Firefox into MS Word 2010, but can using MS Internet Explorer

Updated Firefox to most recent version, then installed MS Office 2010 with MS Word 2010. Then attempted to copy and paste a selection from the internet using Firefox as the browser, but when MS Word 2010 was opened, all paste functions were greyed out and non-functioning. Eventually, I closed Firefox and opened MS Internet Explorer to browse the internet and attempted the same copy and paste on the same selection of text on the internet, but when MS Word 2010 was opened, all of the paste functions worked. Seems like MS is blocking the text copy and paste function in MS Word unless the internet browser is MS Internet Explorer. The previous version of MS Word was 2007 and it functioned the same for both Firefox and MS Internet Explorer when internet text selections were copied and pasted into a MS Word document. Operating system is Windows XP with all service packs.

I am having the same problem after upgrading to MS Office 2010. I used to be able to drag a snippet of text from any PDF file to Excel with no problem...now I am unable to do that. What happened?

How To Cut & Paste From Second Video?

I have two videos. They're almost identical except for one scene.
I've been trying to copy that scene from the first video and paste it into the second. It would replace the scene in there now exactly. Both are the same length.
I haven't had any success. Is this possible with iMovie?

If the relevant scene is also still in an Event, you can drag it from that Event to the project. When you drop it onto the scene to be replaced, a pop-up menu will appear - choose Replace.
If you can't access the particular scene in an Event, then export the first video and re-import it to an Event. Then select the required scene (drag across the clip to highlight the segment with a yellow border) and drag it to the other project as described above.

Trying to Cut & Paste From a Podcast -- I cut audio but gaps stay

I'm not at all familiar with GarageBand.
I want to edit a podcast file I have -- I want to take out the boring bits and then share with my family.
I started GarageBand, made a new track, dragged the podcast to that track and then a second track also appears with the podcast info -- pictures, playlists, ... all that stuff that shows up in the "now playing" window when I play the podcast in iTunes.
I split the audio track and delete the bits I don't want but the track with the info doesn't change and when I export the file back to iTunes there are gaps where the deleted audio was. For example I took out about 2 1/2 minutes at the start. Now my edited file has 2 1/2 minutes of silence.
Any ideas? Is there an easier solution? You can tell I'm not a GarageBand "power user" -- should I use something less complicated?

Hi, I use typicall Word formatting...nothing special, like Arial 10. I have not tried this is safe mode. Should I have to?

Can't cut/paste album art

For some time now I have been adding/changing album cover art by cut/paste from an internet image search and then using "Get Info" to add the art. Now suddenly I can't. I can't get the Paste function to add the art. Has something changed in the last 2 days? Win7 x64, Pro.

I, also, use Chrome. I tried saving the image (.jpg) to my desktop and doing my copy/paste from there with no luck. My audio files are .mp3. All the blank album images I've tried all refuse to accept the paste. I've been having no problems with this update until recently.
Clue 1: I had a problem trying to edit the info on an album because the screen was grayed-out. It turned out to be a user permission problem. When I reset I could revise but I could also cut/paste an image...this album only.
Clue 2: I just tried copying a download directly in iTunes master music file before I added it into iTunes. It came in clean and afterwards I could cut/paste an image...this album only.

Copy and paste from excel to adobe form

Hi everyone,
a customer in a project based on WDJ + Adobe Interactive Form asks us the ability to copy areas of data (numeric and alphanumeric) from an Excel Spreadsheet (set of contiguous rows and columns), and paste them into a text field free PDF, preserving the formatting (ie the structure of rows and columns, font and size).
Personally I think it is something not feasible unless a development at hoc.cosa do you think?
Any advice is very welcome.

Reading the documentation XFA at http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/xml/xfa_spec_3_1.pdf (richtext reference) we understand that you can make the cut & paste from Word or, better still from a RTF. But in this case from the Excel table information is lost as it is aligned in a single line.
The only way I think is to define a common layout to Excel and Adobe and use tables dynamically in the form
I do not think this is a limitation of the SAP solution!

since I upgrade my Tiger to Leopard, working with pages (iwork'08) if I make a cut & paste from a selection custom square from a PDF file, and the paste to pages, *it paste the whole page*, not my selection.
If I check the clipboard, the selection is there, but ONLY in iWorks it paste the whole page.
If I paste to MS office for Mac, it paste only my selection
Before the update it work just fine.
Anyone note this??

I have the same problem. I hope that someone will respond to this. I realize that you can use Grab or do a screen shot with ShiftCommand4 but that isn't as handy as the way you could do this before in Tiger or Panther.

I have exactly the same question after updating to Leopard. I think it's a bug with preview 4.0. You can first past to some other app(eg. omnigraffle) and then copy the fig again to pages.

Retain formating when pasting from Word to longtext(IA06)

I realize this is similar to other posts, however after searching the forum I have yet to find the answer to my problem. Recently some users returned from a conferenence and were exited after being told that they could cut&paste from Word into the longtext of IA02 and IA06 in ECC6.0 which we just completed upgrading to.
They were also told that the new version had advanced formatting features not found in 4.7 (what we upgraded from).
I've looked high and low and not been able to achieve what they were told. It appears that the pasted text is accept as "plain text" and thus the formatting is lost.
Can someone please confirm these new abilities?

To maintain links you have to use the PDFMaker plugin. I'm guessing it's
not available for your combination of Office and Acrobat, so you're out of
luck.

How can I Cut & paste an address from one address book to another on my PC.

My work computer has 3 address books - 1 personal address book, 2 collected address book, 3 work related address book.
After a couple of years I would like to tidy up my address books & cut & paste some of them from here to there. However there seems to be no cut & paste or copy & paste feature that I can locate anywhere????
I can't drag & drop an address from one to another either.

Cut and paste a whole contacts information has never available because it entails different components. Cut/Copy and paste has always been available if you are only selecting one part of the information, but this means you have to open a specific contacts Properties.

In the left Directory Pane, select the address book containing the contact you want to move. You should see a list of contacts in the right Contact Pane.
Drag & Drop process:
* Left click and hold down on a contact in the list to grab, then drag that contact to the left and hover over the address book where you want to put the contact. Then release the mouse button to drop into that address book.
You can move more than one contact.
* Hold down 'Ctrl' key and use mouse to select and highlight various contacts.
* then use the D&D process - (left click, hold down on any highlighted contact to grab all highlighted contacts).
