Cutover checklist for SAP BI project

Hi All,
Please share the cutover checklist for SAP BI project.
Thanks
Sandeep

sandeep,
please give us details of ...
where you are on the upgrade
landscape you are trying to upgrade
nature of systems ....
cutover depends on :
1. criticality of systems and their availability
2. Nature of upgrade - if you are upgrading your sandbox - then cutover is just a formality
3. Ensuring that no data loss happens...
Please be more specific - also search the forums on the same ..... this has been discussed a lot many times...
since you have not given details - I expect that you will be adding more details to your post and am not locking your post....

  • Function Point Analysis for SAP BW Projects

    Hello All,
Have been assigned a task to come up with Function Point
    analysis for SAP BW projects.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mainak

    Hi Mainak,
Function Point Analysis is independent of technology, methodology or platform, so there is no function point analysis specific for sap bw, rather you should familiarize with the fundamentals of FPA.
And as you might know, FAP is used to determine whether a given a tool, an environment or a language is more productive when compared to others.
I can send you good links if you can give me your email-id.
    Hope this helps...
    Thanks,
    Raj

  • Going live check for SAP upgrade projects

    Hello,
I am interested in "going live check" service and procedures for my upgrade projects. May I find any documentation? Do I have to pay for it?..
Thanking you in advance and a happy new years!
    Kind regards
    Nilüfer Çal&#305;&#351;kan

    Hi Nilufer,
The following Input as follows :
    Source : http://www.thespot4sap.com/upgrade_guide_v2.pdf
This service is included as part of your annual maintenance fee.
The underlying concept of the SAP GoingLive Functional Upgrade Check is
to ensure smooth operation of your mySAP.com solution by taking action
proactively, before severe technical problems occur.
The GoingLive Functional Upgrade Check is made up of three sessions
(Planning, Analysis and Verification)—two sessions (Planning and Analysis)
before the upgrade and the other (Verification) after the upgrade.
Planning Session: This session should be performed as much in advance as
possible when the upgrade is first being considered.
Analyses compatibility for the target release with regards to connected
systems in the Solution Landscape, OS version, DB version, installed Add-
Ons, Plug-ins, Country Versions, and so on.
Analysis Session: It is generally performed two months before the
production upgrade (consider lead time for hardware procurement).
The focus is on resource planning and system configuration.
There is a high-level hardware plausibility check (this is not a hardware
    sizing exercise).
      Potential resource bottlenecks are identified.
Necessary changes will be recommended to prepare the system for the
productive use of the new release.
38 SAP Upgrade Guide | Simplifying Your Upgrade
Verification Session: Generally performed four to six weeks after the
production upgrade, and the recommendation from the analysis session
    implemented.
Comparison of performance with results prior to upgrade
      Recommendations on configuration and optimization
More information and ordering . For more information, see the GoingLive
Functional Upgrade Check web page at:
    <b>http://service.sap.com/goinglive-fu</b>
To order a GoingLive Functional Upgrade Check, contact SAP Customer Care
Center at least eight weeks prior to the planned upgrade of your production
    system.
For customers of value-added resellers (VARs) such as CBS customers in the
US, special conditions apply. Contact your VAR.
    Remote Upgrade Service
Remote Upgrade Service is a technical upgrade that is performed by SAP
remote consultants. Pricing is based on the complexity of the customer’s
    environment.
SAP performs the technical upgrade of your system, allowing you to focus on
the functional and training side of the upgrade. You are still responsible for
    resolving object conflicts.
See SAP Notes 106447 and 84044.
The Remote Upgrade Service is an attractive option for CBS sized customers
with small or non-existent mySAP Technology group.

  • Checklist for SAP BI 7.0 and BO XI 3.1 integration - Challenges

Hi Users who have successfully configured SAP BO XI 3.1 with SAP BI 7.0,
We are preparing to install SAP Integration Kit and follow through on the steps (..that I have come across in some of the docs on these forums ) that would enable our users to report using BO - Webi.
I would like to know what are the major challenges you have faced ? How did you resolve them or get around them?
I would like to know who are all the mandatory technical people  (eg., sap security guy, BO admin,... ) that needs to be a part of this effort. What would be their specific role ? When would each of these guys come into the scope without whom we cant do this successfully?
What would be the basic checklist of things , hardware /software (eg., Service Pack #, SAP Notes, Universe version,..) that would go along with SAP BO XI 3.1 and SAP BI 7.0 that we would have to do before/while installing Integration Kit make our job as smooth as possible?
What are the DONT's and DO's of this work?
How to make sure the this process is optimized / justified (performance wise, ..)?
Are there any specific documents which shows the screenshots of this whole process end to end (i.e.,successfully install, configure, create/design the 1st Universe in BO based on BEx query, create the 1st query in BO, create the 1st report in BO, let the user view/edit/modify the report)?
Responses from anyone who has gone through all these steps smoothly & successfully (which might include tips, tricks) are greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

SP18 should be OK.  We're at SP19.  Again, a fair number of MDX related OSS Notes in SP20 and 21.  Some integration enhancements are only being made to EHP1, so if you do apply SP, you might as well go to EHP1, e.g. Thomas Zureks has a couple of blogs on some of the enhancements
    /people/thomas.zurek/blog/2009/03/06/better-performance-for-universe-based-access-to-bw
    /people/thomas.zurek/blog/2009/03/16/faster-universe-based-access-to-bw-via-mdx
There are good things coming in WebI later in 2009. Of great interest to BW / WebI customers I think will be a feature called Query Stripping that is supposed to come in WebI SP3.  In BEx, you can create a query with many free characteristics, which really provides the query user with a guided ad-hoc capability, where they can pull any of the free characteristics into a report.  BEx does not include free characteristics in the generated SQL until the user specifically adds it to their report, so there is there is no performance impact of having several free characteristics available for use.  This lets you have one BEx query that is extremely versatile.
A WebI document on the other hand, includes all objects in the query in the generated SQL, even though they are not actually used in a report.  With query stripping, if the object is not used in the report, WebI can (as an option) remove references the the object(s) from the generated SQL.  This gives you the same potential in WebI, to create a query with many objects in it, abd the user can drag them in / out of the report, providing you the ability to create one WebI query that can be the basis for for much more reporting.

  • Best Practice for SAP BW project implemetation/management

BACKGROUND: I have worked with Microsoft NAV ERP system, but in my new job I am working with SAP BW including BPS.
In Microsoft world we had a framework covering all aspects of a project form pre-sales, analyzis, design, implementation called Sure Step. (http://www.microsoft.com/dynamics/support/implementation/success.aspx)
The framework consist of templates like risk register, business case, requierement collection, questionaries and check-lists. In addition to cover the whole project management part of a project (texts about what should bee done in diffrent phases).
I found a template searching for some BPS stuff http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=SAPBPScreate+questionaree&source=web&cd=4&ved=0CDkQFjAD&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sdn.sap.com%2Firj%2Fscn%2Findex%3Frid%3D%2Flibrary%2Fuuid%2F90465610-181c-2a10-eba4-eb6d550682f5%26overridelayout%3Dtrue&ei=7EzfTof3DqiQ4gTc0_C9Bg&usg=AFQjCNFJTtkQ8d3c3ZA_NbW0Gpot_m0SwQ
    QUESTION:
Does SAP have a similar project framework (for BW) with templates to use in different part of a project, like analysis, design and so on? Is it free for everybody to download and use?

    Hello Ramesh,
you should have a look at the SAP Instguide, and if it tells you to do as your colleagues say, open a ticket to SAP and ask, whether doing it the otherw ay could have spoiled your system. Anything but an official "yes, it's ok" won't help you.
For the other guys: have a loook at http://service.sap.com/instguides, there you can find all the guides you need.
    kind regards,
    Carl

  • QA checklist for a Captivate project?

Does anyone have a list of things to check for when reviewing
a Captivate project that someone else created, in other words, a
    Quality Assurance checklist?

Written down? No. But that is an awesome idea. Here's some things I check for:
Are all the captions the same color, same font, same alignment (Captivate likes to throw curve balls sometimes. Not sure why.)
Do all the buttons, click boxes work how they are supposed to? (Test everything. Back and forth again and again)
Does each slide just look nice, symmetrical, plenty of white space, not to cluttered?
Does the audio sync up with the captions or graphics being used?
Can you think of any way to spice up the module by adding graphics, animations, or audio, voice or music?
Are the hightlight boxes and other pointers noticeable? (You'd be surprised what the designer sees compared to what the user sees.)
Does it flow? Does it feel like you are just going through it or are there random thoughts or tangents thown in that need deleted or reorganized?
    Hope that gets you started.

  • Project Time estimate for SAP BI

    Hi Experts,
Can somebody please give me the time estimate for SAP BI project.
I am supposed to give effort analysis for BI implementation project.
    Thanks in Advance.

If you know the scope of the project you can give rough estimate. Scoping gives you idea about number of Business process to be mapped in BI, number of reports required, criticality of report. The timing will alos depend upon the standard /customized content and enhancement done in source system. If there are independent business process you can reduce the implementation time by increaing the resources for the project.
If you want to get idea about time check the ASAP methodology and see how much time you need for each step of project plan. Roughly you will get the time.

  • SAP Enterprise Project Connection 2.0 in SAP ECC 6.0 EHP6

    Hello experts,
Before describing any think let me tell u that i am very new to this field.
We are configuring SAP Enterprise Project Connection 2.0 in our SAP ECC 6.0 EHP6 .I have already installed ABAP add on for EPC in ECC system.
I have also installed trial version of primavera6 in another system. So now how can i connect my ECC system to Primavera6 through Enterprise Project Connection(EPC). I have gone through the installation guide for SAP Enterprise Project Connection 2.0 SP2.But i could not get any clear idea.
Any reply is helpful for me..
    Thanks
    Debasis

    Hello Debasis,
Post EPC installation, you need to perform configuration of EPC through portal. You can see it listed under configuration--> configuration scenarios-->EPC.
During configuration you will be asked to define path of you primavera installation and a user on that system with sufficient permissions. This user is called APS user.
Try to do a mock configuration run on sandbox/dev system and then you can follow the guide.
    Regards,

  • Estimation for SAP or ABAP Maintenance Requests

I'm currently searching for effort estimation tools which will be
suitable for SAP & ABAP enhancements or modifications. It'd be helpful if anyone can
recommend an appropriate effort estimation tool/method which we
can adopt for SAP maintenance projects?

If you're talking about development, no... but it is a big advantange to have both.  ABAP development will be required for a long time... but having both i.e. being able to write a java webdynpro to call a BAPI you've written is even better.
If you're talking about basis - then yes you need to know both.

    Greetings.
We are  in the process of impmenting SAP Suite in our organization. I am trying to promote the use of xRPM and cProjects during the impmentation. The main reason is that we are looking for a sloution for our core activities which is related to development project fianiancing. The use of xRPM and cProjetcs will give a good chance whether this sloution is suitable for us. The other reason is to enforce good project managment discpline by utlizing cProjects stage-gate concept.

    Hello Sumanth,
By going to System -> Status -> SAP System Data -> View Components, you should be able to see the soft components which are installed in your system, I guess.
These soft components corresponds to the business suite applications which are installed.
This is what you wanted ?
