Cuts songs off during playback

My 32 GB Ipod Touch seems to cut songs short during play back. It appears that it only happens to AAC format songs I have ripped from CD's.

In iTunes have you tried right clicking the song, then click Get Info. Go to the options tab and make sure "Stop Time" is not ticked?

  • Wrong song order during playback

I have an issue that the song order during playback is in accordance to the song number.
    Random playback is switched off.
I delete all my music from iPhone 4s, I just synced a signle album for easier verification,
    but the issue stays same.
    Thanks for any help.

Leave the tracks on your system. If they are part of a playlist, first remove only the playlist. Go to My Library, find the artist/album/tracks. Select all of them and create a new playlist from selection under File. Resync.

What is causing and how do you fix a song stopping during playback? I have latest iTunes 12.0.1 and Yosemite 10.10.1.
It stops then after several seconds (like 25 secs) then it starts again ... and then several seconds later it stops again!
I have the latest software so I don't know what to do?

  • How can I turn the metronome off during playback on version 2.0.6 (iphone 5)?

The triangle-like icon allows me turn metronome on and off for recording, but I cannot get it to turn off during playback if I use it during recording.  The Dial in the upper right allows me to turn off the "Count-In," and change the sound, but no option to turn off during playback.  How do I fix this?

The triangle-like icon allows me turn metronome on and off for recording, but I cannot get it to turn off during playback if I use it during recording.
That should not be like this. Even if I enable the metronome during recording,I can turn it off again afterwards, before I start playback.

  • Appletv2 cuts off during playback

During playback of music on AppleTv2, my music will just stop playing and I have to restart it.  Why?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • Has anyone else experienced the 5G iPod cutting songs off? Please help!

I have noticed that my 5G iPod will cut songs short sometimes. These are always the same songs, and they play perfectly fine on iTunes (and my other iPods). Any clue as to how to fix this? Thanks a lot!

I've noticed this once or twice, as well. I've found that plugging the ipod into my computer and playing the song via itunes usually fixes the problem.

  • Songs cutting off during playback

Hi. I'm having issues with songs cutting off approx. 30-45 seconds before the actual end of the song. This is occurring in iTunes and on my synced devices, on songs uploaded from CD and on a high percentage of purchased songs. Any ideas how to fix - other than delete my entire library and start over???

I've had the same problem and found an easy solution.
I remembered the skipped songs and marked them in iTunes. Now right click on them and choose convert to AAC (or MP3...whatever).
Then the songs will be imported to the iTunes folder. After that you can delete the older ones, so that there are no songs twice.
The reason of the skipping is, that iPod nano has problems to play some (unknown) coded MP3 songs. So when you code them by importing them with iTunes (as said above), then the iPod will play them perfectly (mine does so).
    Hope this will help.

  • Songs cut off during playback

Hello all. I have an 8GB 3g Nano, and have found that there are occasionally songs that will only playback the first minute or so before moving onto the next track in the playlist.
The song plays fine in itunes. I have tried unsyncing then resyncing the song in question, resetting the ipod, even restoring the ipod from scratch. The same song will have the problem.
Anybody have an idea what the problem might be and how to fix it? The track(s) in question are ripped from CDs that I own into mp3 format.

  • IPod shuts off during playback

Hello. I heard from a few people that they are having similar issues to this. Whenever I listen to my ipod for more than 20-25 mins, it will stop playing during a song for about 3-5 seconds, then it will resume playback. I've tried power cycling it, restoring it, the whole 9 yards, but nothing works.
I am considering bringing it back to the apple store now. I remember back in the good old days before the iphone came out and there were barely any people buying apple products that their customer service was spectacular. Now I heard they are pretty anal about replacements. I know that they like to see the error occurring before they can do anything about it as far as a replacement goes.
Does anyone have similar issues with their ipods? Anyone get a replacement from Apple? I will greatly appreciate the help guys. Thanks again.

Is it a particular song? I have encountered songs (not encoded by iTunes) that the shuffle doesn't like. My solution was to have iTunes re-encode the song.
Select the song in iTunes. Right cick (or use the Advanced menu) and select Convert to MP3/AAC (it uses the format you specify in the import prefs).
If your music is being automatically downsampled to 128kbps AAC, there could be an issue with the converting. Try doing it manually or turning that feature off.

  • Itunes 10.5 is cutting songs off before they're finished ... it's happend on several songs. Worked fine before 10.5, I've checked the song info ..stop time is correct .. anyone know what's going on with 10.5

After I upgrades to ituens 10.5 songs are cutting off early. It's happened on several songs. I checked the song info ...stop time is correct. Antone know whats going on? Seems like 10.5 may have a bug ..

When you say "rebuild your library", do you just mean to import songs from your CDs, etc.? What about songs that have been downloaded from Itunes? I'm obviously having the same problem and I'm seeing a lot of people asking the same questions, but really no solid answers yet? I'd say my description matches Auntiheather's above - about 1/3 of songs, etc. etc.

  • Album purchased cuts songs off before they are finished

For some reason after I loaded the latest software update, for a few albums (purchased from the Itunes store) the songs cut off mid-way or in shuffle for those album songs, the iphone freezes. The problem is on the songs loaded in itunes.

    - Tr a reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all the music and the resync the music.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup

  • I Tunes freezing and running very slowly. Songs stopping during playback.

I just downloaded the latest I tunes update, now it's running even slower than it was yesterday and this message keeps popping up "The I Tunes library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred. (-50)" It has been getting worse and worse, it keeps stopping during the playing of songs and now is having a very hard time downloading purchased music from the I Tunes Store. I am very afraid I am heading for a BIG crash. Does anybody know how to fix this problem? I Tunes is freezing and it takes several minutes to come back on a play 15 seconds worth of a song and then it quits again. This is very frustrating as I have spent hundreds of hours in I tunes and the music is very important to me, as I am sure it is to everyone!

    Hi!
I'm a little confused by your response...what exactly do you mean when you state that the files in question won't "leave the music folder area"?
In the meantime you might run Disk Utility (in "Utilities" in the "Applications" folder) and repair permissions.
Also "get info" on the respective files and examine whether the "locked" checkbox is checked or not( make sure it isn't). While you're there, also check "ownership and permissions" to ensure that "read and write" are selected.
    Let me know!

  • IPod nano turns off during playback

Lately my ipod has been switching off by itself in the middle of songs. If i then press any button, it turns on and resumes playing. Until recently, it didn't happen very often. Today it happened three times which is very unusual. I fear it may be a symptom of a bigger problem.
I have only had my iPod for a few months and have taken good care of it. I can think of nothing that I have physically done to it that would make it behave like this.
Is this a known issue and is there a solution? Thanks in advance.

My and my boyfriends IPOD 32 gig are both doing this.. i have the 1st gen nano.. they play part of the song then turn off. could it be something itunes did??

  • Unexpected Shut-off During Playback

My nano's been acting more odd than usual lately (as of today, really). In the past, my iPod may sometimes freeze the screen while it still plays the music. I can handle that (for the most part).
However, today, when I was listening to music, my iPod just shut down. The battery life meter says it's a little under fully charged, and no buttons were clicked to make it shut down at the time. At best, I've been able to listen to about 2.5 songs before it shuts itself off.
Why is it doing this and how can I fix it? I've reset it, but I hadn't gotten to test it out again just yet.

After I last reset my iPod, it started having fun changing the track for no reason at all. (the shaky-thing is turned off, by the way) When I turn it on and pick a track (e.g. in a playlist) it plays a sound and then starts shuffling all the songs in the iPod instead.
I've earlier found that bashing it against a wall, usually makes me feel better, but it doesn't exactly fix the problem.

  • How do I get my display to turn off during playback?

Ever since I updated my iPod Touch to version 5.1.1, my display won't turn off while I am listening to music. I hadn't changed any settings, but I did check them just to make sure, and my auto-lock is still set to 1 minute.
I don't like my screen to be wasting my battery while I'm listening to music for an hour or two. Also it's annoying when I take my iPod out of my pocket and inadvertently skip tracks because of touching the screen that is still on. The display turns off normally when I'm on my home screen. How can I fix this?

So the screen stays illuminated and doesn't go to sleep even after the 1 minute marker is up?  Have you verified that by watching the display for that minute?
Have you tried a hard reset to see if that makes a difference? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
It might be also worth trying a reset of all settings. This does not erase any of your stored content.  Head to Settings -> General -> Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
