  • Minimum hardware for 'voice' lab ? - Please answer.

    Hi,
    I've got (3) C2610's running IP Plus IOS 12.3. I also have (2) Cat 2912XL.
If I want to play with VoIP configurations, how much am I going to miss if I don't have a Layer 3 switch ? I mean, the Cat 3550 is kind of a little expensive for me and therefore I would like to play with VoIP without a layer 3 switch for now, if possible.
    Please advise.

Thanks. It is a C2610. I put 64D and 16F and I am running in reality the Enterprise Basic image from the XM platform. The problem is that it is 12.3 and I see that XM's 12.4 don't run on C2610's.
    How about the switch ?
Can I practice voice labs (at CVOICE level) and dispense the need for layer 3 switches ?

  • Can I use QoS exam in ccnp voice?

    Hi all,
I have a doubt. I made a ccip exam and will expire in 2015, even retired. When I  made the QoS exam,  i be enroled in ccnp voice.
Now I have cvoice, cipt1 and cipt2. If I take the tshoot voice exam, I will become ccnp voice certified? Or I have the  CAPPs on my may yet?
    Regards.

If I remember right the QoS-Exam was Part of the CCVP. But that retired on February 2011. Sometimes there is a "migration"-phase for old exams, but typically only for a short time-period. So it seems that you have to go for the TVOICE and CAPPS to certify as a CCNP Voice.
    You find the requirements here:

  • NEED HELP ON VOIP MIGRATION

    hello,
We are upgrading our existing cisco 3640 router(with two nm-2v's with three e&m vic and one FXO vic) to cisco 3725 router from the central site. The remote site uses the same 3640 router.
Before the migration our VoIP connection from two sites works fine. Both sites used cisco 3640(two nm-2v's, three e&m vic's and one fxo vic).
After we migrated from the central site to cisco 3725 router( one nm-2v installed and two e&m vic) using the same parameters on the cisco 3640 router, we can only get a dial tone from the PBX but can't connect to the local number. We are using IOS Voice on the cisco 3725 router(central site).
Are there issues on the cisco 3725 to communicate to cisco 3640 router. Our data connection and dial-up for remote users works fine. Only the VoIP link to the remote site.
Hope you can provide inputs on this problem.
    Thanks,
    udimpas

    Hi,
In addition, attached is the running configuration of ther cisco 3640 router. Before migration, our VoIP works fine( both ends uses cisco3640 router with same network modules and cvoice cards). The cisco3640 router has 2 nm-2v with 3 E&M cards and 1 FXO card although the FXO has not been used.
When we migrated to Cisco3725 router on the central site( running configuration attached) using 1 nm-2v with 2 E&M voice cards and IOS Voice, we can only get a dial tone on the remote site but could not dial the local number.
During the migration we have verified that the Analog E&M Hardware is recognized by the Router using the IOS Voice software by issuing the show version command .
We have also verified that all voice ports are active and verified the E&M signaling type, Audio implementation, Start dial supervision and dial method by issuing the show voice port command. The show voice port command was issued after configuring all the parameters mentioned. This parameters are based on the current config of the Cisco 3640 router to communicate to the PBX.
We have assumed the wiring arrangement between the PBX and the voice gateway(Cisco router) to be OK, since it is already running using the Cisco 3640 router.
We have also verified that the Cisco 3725 router is communicating with the PBX. By issuing the "debug vpm signal command", the supervision signaling or the on-hook/off-hook signals are being transmitted between the PBX and the router by lifting the phone handset and dialing the extension number of the remote site. But we only got a dial tone but could not dial the local number.
We have checked if the Cisco 3725 router is sending and receiving digits to and from the PBX or if the address information (DTMF digits or Pulse Dial) is being passed between both ends by issuing the "debug vtsp dsp command". But unfortunately the router debugging output shows no signs of digits being send and received between the two devices.
Hope to have your feedback the soonest possible time.
    Thanks,

  • Voice over IP exam 9EO - 431

    Hi,
I am trying to find a Cisco Press book that covers the topics required for this exam. Does anyone know what book I can buy?
    Regards,
    Gills

There is no Cisco press book yet designed just for this test. CVOICE class is the only good prep for it. If you want to get a good Cisco Press book that will cover a lof of what is in there get the following:
Deploying Cisco Voice over IP Solutions
    and
    Voice over IP Fundimentals
These would get you a good start,

  • UCM/UCCX Training (not for certs)

Is there any self-paced training out there for UCM or UCCX? I'm not looking for certificiation, just something to help our administrators use and manage the products. Intstructor classes are an option, but I'd also like to know about any DVD or web based options?
    Thanks

    Hi,
There are training videos you can download from forums which explain how the CallManagers function and how to configure them. Unfortunately these aren't much use without the practical experience to back it up.
I would definately suggest they do CVoice and CIPT courses to get a good grounding in the technology.
UCCX is a little more complicated as you need a bit of experience in scripts. I would wait until they fully understand UCM's before sending them on a training course for UCCX as most of it will be too much to take in.
Personally, I would recommend the following:
    1) Download video tutorials + ebooks for reference
    2) set up a lab in VMWare for them to play with
    3) train them for CVoice and CIPT
    4) send them on a UCCX course
The Cisco website is also extremely helpful if you need any installation, upgrade or troubleshooting documents....

  • Information on CCVP

    Hi,
If I want to take CVOICE, Is it the pre-requisite is just to have CCNA certification or do I need to have any other certification in 642 series?.And also let me know which book will be good for self preparation and also the pass percentage. And also let me know whether there will be only theoritical or there will be some configurations that we need to do in the exam.
    Thanks in advance.

    Ramprasad:
CCNA is the prereq for Cisco voice certifications except CCIE, which can be taken without a current cert.
I would reccommend IP Telephony Self Study for the CVOICE track - there is a new version said to be released in the next month or two from Cisco Press. The old ISBN is 1-58705-050-1, not sure of the new one.
    Take a look here:
    http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/le2/le37/le65/learning_certification_type_home.html
Also take a look at the Career Certifications section of NetPro, there's lots of info there for prep.

  • CUCM backup

    Hello folks,
we have publisher CUCM in Charleston and subscriber is in Rochester. I set up disaster backup to some local server in Charleston for this publisher. But I noticed that subscriber which is in Rochester also backup everything over WAN to Charleston. I think it is unefficient to backup for example TFTP which has about 800MB over WAN. Is there any way how to spread backup so each server will backup just locally?
    Thanks in advance

Thank you Jaime for your response.
Just one question because i see that you are Cisco employee. Do you know when will be last day when can I make CCNP voice exam? Next week I want to take CVOICE and till the end of this year i want finish all rest 4 exams.

  • Voice training

    Hey Guys,
I am beginner on the Voice environment and I want to ask what is the first step ( training) to learn about Voice. I have 2.800 user/ CUCM 8.6.2/ 2X UCS VS/ 2X 2921 VG/ 1x2801 VG.
Pls tell me which training I should to take from this or pls recommend me one:
ICOMM - Introducing Cisco Voice and UC Administration v8.0
CVOICE - Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Voice over IP and QoS v8.0
CIPT 1 - Implementing Cisco Unified Communications IP Telephony Part 1 v8.0 CIPT 2 - Implementing Cisco Unified Communications IP Telephony Part 2 v8.0

I would go throuh all these, but you are asking only 1 then go for CIPT1.
There are free video nuggests avaialable (for CCNA voice and CCNP voice) on websites and you should go though them if you have plenty of time. It will be very helpful for you.
And you can install (personal lab setup) 37xx router on GNS3 and lower version of cucm (ver 6 or 7) on desktop/laptop using vm-ware so you can play around these.
