Cvp Nic Unplugging problem

Hi
I am presently facing a problem with a NRFU Test case in which when the nic of CVP(Active lic server) is unplugged the new calls placed are not failing over to the CVP (Redundant port server). We are running on a comprehensive setup with multi site env.The same cases with services got down(Call and Vxml) on active server the failover is happening fine. Some other scenarious like shutting the active dial-peer and checking if calls are serviced at 2nd CVP too works fine.
The ICM is on 7.5(7),CVP on 7.0(2) with ES of CVP7.0.2_ES22,CVP7.0.2_ES27 and CVP7.0.2_ES29 upgraded,CVP  OPS Console 7.0(2) and gateway is IOS c3845-ipvoicek9-mz.124-24.T3.Can't really find a reason on this not functioning.I do see the Label of 7777777777 + corelation id reaching my gateways when the nic is got down and new call is placed. However the VXML Session just does not seem to get invoked after that and it only tries to GET the active server on http request.
A tac case is open for this but it is taking a bit long. Can anybody suggest if any idea?
Thanks
Ganesh

There is no need for SIP.sigdigits in a branch office design. Send To Originator deals with this perfectly. It ensures that the VRU leg runs on the ingress gateway. I don't know what you mean by "all these holds good until you have the VXML being played out".
Once the call needs to be transffered to an agent you might have to make use of DNS SRV records to load balance between the Different CUCM which does the call processing. The reason being i dont think  using two or more static route for different call processing CUCM would really work coz CVP sip agent doesnt have the capability to send a SIP re- invite to make use of the second Static route in case the first one has failed. The local DNS-SRV really solves the issues related to the CUCM.
I want to be sure that you know this for a fact. Have you indeed confirmed this?
You say that the CVP SIP Back-To-Back User Agent does not have the capability to retry an INVITE if the first one fails. If this is the case, using SRV will not work either. It does not matter if there are two static routes, one to each Sub - or there is a single route on the cluster name being resolved by entries in a DNS SRV or local SRV - if the B2BUA cannot retry on failed INVITE, nothing will work.
I personally think a production SIP CVP without a Proxy is not a viable design.
you cannot use the send to the call originator function in this scenario because the the call is ideally originated fromthe CUCM and the the 77777! label used for queuing purpose would be send back from the CVP to the CUCM, which CUCM does not know wat it needs to be done with it.
You don't know that at all.
The OP has not told us what the VRU label on the CUCM routing client is. Normally it is not the same as the label on the CVP RC. Whatever this label is, it's not sent by CVP - it's returned to the CUCM through the PG.
CUCM MUST know what to do with it - typically it's a Route Pattern that finds a CVP. Then CVP needs to find a gateway - and you are correct that it cannot use "Send To Originator" - so there must be a static route to find a gateway using 7777777777.
So - you simply need to configure both items. You add the 777777777> to the Send to Originator and you also add a pair to the Static Route section for the gateways in Warm Transfer. CVP will optimize.
So in case of the Warm transfers i again reiterate the fact that SIP.sig didgits should have been used to maintian Queue or transfer back to IVR local to the site as the where the called had originated.
OK, this part is true - although the design is complex. In a branch-office design, with a number of branches, SIP.sigdigits is the only way to ensure that the gateway found by CVP to queue the call in a warm transfer (or any CUCM-originated call) ia at the branch. The OP has not told us whether there will be multiple branches - he does not have them at the moment.
Adding SIP.sigdigits adds a layer of complexity that takes a while to work through. If you have the bandwidth between sites you can simplify a multi-branch design by choosing one gateway (or one pair of gateways) to queue the call for CUCM-generated calls.
Using a static route for the Warm transfers and maintaining it to only one gateway your redudancy may not achieved. Again i doubt whether the re-invires are sent and the other static routes if made use of.if i was in your place and in an architecture with branched loactions and no Sip proxy server  i would have made use of SIP.sig digits and local DNS SRV  records. The local DNS SRV functionality does the work of the proxy servers in deployments where no proxies are used. Based on the weights and the priorities defined on the XML file it load balances and the does the failover as expected to be done by the proxy server.i would rather suggest you to re visit the design of this and make use of SIP.sig digits in combination with local DNS SRV records.
You would not have a static route to one gateway - you would put both there. Once again, you say you "doubt whether the re-invites are sent and other static routes if (sic) made use of" but you provide no proof. Cisco certainly don't say this limitation exists.
As I said before, if the B2BUA cannot retry, it makes no difference if you use a pair of static routes, or a single static route with a cluster name being resolved by SRV (either DNS or local file) , you are screwed. Adding SIP.sigdigits does not solve the problem if the B2BUA cannot retry.
I always like to use the simplest solution. I don't know enough about the future plans or the inter-branch bandwidth to clearly say that SIP.sigdigits is useful.

  • Possible NIC hardware problem?

    Hi,
I have two sun servers, both solaris 9, that act as firewalls.
I have installed only OS Core. The firewall software is Checkpoint.
These two servers are in cluster (checkpoint xl).
I have many other sun servers configured in this way that work perfectly.
But with these two servers I have a lot of network problems.
For instance, if I issue a nestat -rn I see a lot of entries (about one hundred!!). Do you know what this happens?
My security admins think that there could be a nic hardware problem.
How can I be sure that the network cards are ok?
If I run, on both servers, from ok prompt:
    test net
    I get
    rejecting alloc-mem?
    What does this mean?
    The servers are:
    - SUNFIRE V120
    - SUNFIRE V240
    Can you help me?
    Thanks,
    Tarek

I would just like to make the point that even though you may have great stability with a number of systems without applying firmware and OS patches, it does not mean that the system you are currently experiencing these issues with will not benefit from firmware upgrade. Some of the systems may have different component revisions that require firmware upgrade. Some of the features that are included in firmware upgrades can improve asr ( automatic system recovery ), hardware diagnosability, hardware integrity and generally improves chances of discovering and isolating faults. So it would be a good idea to implement a plan to upgrade all your systems with the patest firmware.
I would put this system on alert and make a service call with Sun, asr ( automatic system recovery ) can detect early signs that a component is failing and just clearing the disk from asr should not be the only step taken here, the disk may need to be replaced.
I am currently looking through the internal hand book for some references for you, there should be some good spectrum stuff that I can point you to, I'll update shortly.
One more thing, when you were configuring Solaris for FW-1, there are a number fo kernel parameters to change, misconfiguration of any of these parameters could be a cause for FW-1 to report errors.
On the output from netstat -rn, I wouldn't worry about that too much, if the system is a gateway for a large number of hosts it will probably have an enrty for all networks being visted by hosts on the client side.

  • Network cable unplugged problem with WRT54G

I just got a WRT54G wireless router recently, and experienced some problems with it. There are 5 notebooks in my network using wireless card and 2 PCs connect to the router through cables. The router is with ver 7.00.1 firmware.
The router is working fine, the problem is sometimes it will show "Network cable unplugged" on my PC, and the whole network will be interruptted, the network will be resumed in few seconds and all machines need to get IP from the DHCP server again. It's quite annoying to be disconnected from middle of the work. I don't know what is the cause, seems like the router is re-reading it's configuration. I have tried to refresh the fireware but with no luck. Someone else got this problem before? anyone has a solution for this? Thanks a lot!
    Regards,
    Leo

Try the following tips to resolve your problem:
Disable the Ethernet network adapter if you are not using it. This applies, for example, when running a WiFi home network with computers that have built-in Ethernet adapters. To disable the adapter, double-click the small Network Cable Unplugged error window and choose the Disable option.
Check both ends of the Ethernet cable connected to the adapter to ensure they are not loose.
Replace the Ethernet cable with a different one to verify the cable is not damaged.
Update the network adapter driver software from the manufacturer's Web site.
Change the Link Speed and Duplex settings (using Device Manager) to use "100 Mbps Full Duplex" or "10 Mbps Full Duplex" instead of Auto Detect.
    Replace the Ethernet network adapter
    Good Luck,
    Ttech

  • Direct Access Server 2012 R2 Single NIC DNS problem with 8.1 Enterprise

    Dear helpers,
I am beginning to rip my hair over the following problem and I am asking for some guidance:
I have setup DA on a server 2012 R2 with the simple wizard using one NIC. I have opened up port 443 to my  DA Server and operations status is showing green on everything. I have used Djoin to join a remote win 8.1 enterprise client to our domain and
setup DA. I can see that my tunnel is established and the client shows up as an IPHTTPS client on my server:
    Role                       : client
    URL                        : https://vpn.ourdomain.com:443/IPHTTPS
    Last Error Code            : 0x0
Interface Status           : IPHTTPS interface active
Connection status on client is stuck in connecting and the eventlog on client gives me following error:
The system failed to register host (A or AAAA) resource records (RRs) for network adapter
    with settings:
               Adapter Name : {424F50B4-BF1A-4D96-81FA-7D7436A99F07}

Sent update to server : <?>
               IP Address(es) :
                 172.16.8.110
The reason the system could not register these RRs was because the update request it sent to the DNS server timed out. The most likely cause of this is that the DNS server authoritative for the name it was attempting to register or update is not running at
    this time.
I understand why this is failing because it seems like it is contacting the local DNS to register and that's wrong.
    Get-DaConnectionStatus gives me the following:
    Status    : Error
    Substatus : CouldNotContactDirectAccessServer
I can ping the name on the DA server and also the IPv6 address, I can also do nslookup if i set the server used to my internal DNS-servers IPv6 address(DNS and DA server = same machine). My DA Client GPO is being applied to the client and i get an NRPT table
    looking as follows:

I cannot reach any internal resources by name or IPv4 address except the DA server.
I will gladly provide more info if needed
    Please help!

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
Firstly, computer certificates are necessary for DirectAccess.
In addition, it is no need to assign an IPv6 address on all the servers. In Windows server 2012/R2, the
    Built-in NAT64 and DNS64 support for accessing IPv4-only resources.
If you select Configure DirectAccess Clients with DNS client suffix search list and add additional suffixes to the list,
you can search for short, unqualified computer names in more than one specified DNS domain.
For more detailed information about DNS suffix search list, please refer to the link below:
Step 2: Configure the DirectAccess Server

  • Windows 2008 in UCS B200 Blade NIC VLAN problem

    Hello Experts,
I've installed Windows 2008 Enterprise on Bare-metal UCS B-200 M2 server with VIC M81KR Mezannine card. UCS Manager version is 1.3(c).
The Problem that I have is that I cannot define VLANs on the NIC adapter inside Windows. is this a problem with the NIC driver ?
( Other NIC cards in other machine for example, have Advnaced Tab in the network configuration where we can define VLANs ).
( in this situation, Windows is un-aware of the VLANs so all the traffic going out will be untagged and FI sending it to the native VLAN on the network).
Attached is a screenshot of the NIC properties in Windows. Your help is highly appreciated on this.
    Regards,
    Mohammad

Thank you for your answer Padma.
I have simple requirement for this to work. I have two blades windows installed on them and NICs having IPs from the range of VLAN 100 ( IP range : 192.168.100.x). Now I need to reach these two windows machines from other subnets ( subnet VLAN 2 for example / range 192.168.2.x ).
In this scenario, I cannot reach these two windows machines until I define VLAN 100 as native ( default ) in vNIC configuration in the service profile of the balde. ( I understand that windows is sending the traffic un-tagged and because VLAN 100 is the native VLAN in UCS manager, it will forward this un-tagged traffic to VLAN 100 where it is routed to VLAN 2 in our case ).
Do you have any other suggestions for other configuration for these windows machine to be reached from different VLANs in our network ?
    Thanks,
    Mohammad

  • NIC install problem under Solaris 10

I have an old 3Com NIC card (ISA) under Solaris 10. 3C509B Etherlink III card and prtconf -pv command shows correct PNP80f7 device id, all correct
resources, IRQ, I/O address .... But fail to work. Is it sun does not support elx driver or something I misconfigured?
    My installation as follows:
    elx "PNP80F7" entry to /etc/driver_aliases
    PNP80F7|TCM5094.... elx net isa elx.bef "3Com"
    entry to /boot/solaris/devicedb/master
    #devlinks
    #touch reconfigure ; reboot

I use these cards for my x86 installations as well. The one thing that I've had to do is force the speed and duplex using the 3Com driver diskettes before installing the operating system. For whatever reason, Solaris 10 finds the card but will not initialize it properly whenever I the card is programmed to auto-negotiate. Forcing the card to half-duplex on the card itself works almost all of the time for me.
Get the driver diskettes from 3Com's site, boot from a bootable floppy, run 3c9x5cfg (if I recall correctly), and change the duplex and speed to whatever is appropriate. I've had the best luck with half-duplex. (If you need a boot diskette, you can get them from http://www.bootdisk.com.)

  • NIC Driver Problem in WDS 2010

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I am having an issue with re-imaging Dell Optiplex 745's. When I boot into the PE image and click on "Run Deployment Wizard", I get the message:
"A connection to the deployment share could not be made. The following device did not have a driver installed. PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_167A&SUBSYS_01DA1028&REV_02."
    Retry or Cancel.
After much headache over the past two days, I discovered this is the NIC which is a Broadcom 5754. I have tried injecting the driver (new and older versions) into the PE image in WDS but that doesn't seem to fix it. The driver is b57nd60a.inf. The older
driver I used (14.6.1.0) was previously used when imaging the machines. I have used the x64 Windows 7 version. Should I be using a different version for the PE image? I do not get an IP address in the PE so I know the driver is not correct or loading properly.
The Out-of-box drivers in the Deployment Workbench have nothing to do with the PE image, correct? They are just used when imaging the computers, right?
The previous network administrator has imaged all of these models before so it had to of worked at some point.
    Any guidance is much appreciated.

The Out-Of-Box drivers node has everything to do with drivers for the WinPE boot image. By default it will inject all storage class abd network class driver it finds into the boot image.
What you should do however, is limit the amount of drivers being added to the boot image. For example, the workbench will happily inject wireless drivers by default to the boot image because it's a network class driver.
Check the "Drivers for Windows PE (the boot image)" section in this post for MDT 2010. It's stil very much valid for MDt 2012 Update 1 and MDT 2013.
    http://www.deployvista.com/Default.aspx?tabid=78&EntryID=132
Note: After uppdating the deployment share (to get a new boot image), don't forget to replace the boot image in the WDS Console.

  • Problem with VLAN Trunking within RHEL6.6 VM on Hyper-V 2012 R2?

    Hello,
I'm wondering if there is a known issue with using a "trunk" mode interface within a RHEL6.6 VM?  I found the following article:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn531026.aspx
    Where note 1 reads:
"For this specific RHEL/CentOS release, VLAN tagging may not work when used in conjunction with trunk mode".
I've been fighting with this for the better part of a day and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.  I have a RHEL 6.6 VM with two NICs.  The first NIC is a standard access mode NIC - no problems there.
The second NIC has been set up as follows (via PowerShell):
        $a=Get-VmNetworkAdapter -VMName "My VM"
        Set-VMNetworkAdapterVlan -Trunk -VmNetworkAdapter $a[1] -AllowedVlanIdList 101-105 -NativeVlanId 1
Note that the physical switch and switchports are configured to send tagged packets for these VLANs as well.
I then set up a VLAN (eth1.102) based interface in the VM ... and never receive any traffic on it.
    What I've observed is that:
A VM on the same physical host using the same virtual switch can communicate with the VM on the tagged VLAN
A pcap of the "eth1" interface (to which eth1.102 is bound) shows traffic for VLANs 101 through 105 arriving ... I just never see the traffic for VLAN 102 forwarded to the eth1.102 interface
An identical network configuration using Ubuntu 14.04.01 LTS works exactly as expected
It's this last point that has me wondering if the problem is with RHEL and not Hyper-V (or the physical/virtual switches involved).
I'm curious if anybody else has seen this behavior or, if RHEL 6.x is working for you, if you're using Intel or Broadcom NICs on the physical Hyper-V host?
    Thanks,

This is indeed a known issue with RHEL.   There's a bug open with Red Hat on the issue, and our understanding is that they have a fix in progress that will be part of a RHEL 6.6 update.  You might inquire with Red Hat regarding
    their bugzilla #1135347.

  • Oracle VM - scsi problem

    Hello,
We have just installed Oracle VM from the 2.1.1 iso image and the install went fine but now when we try to ftp files to the server we get serious I/O errors starting with "SCSI offset overrun detected resetting bus". After this we get a bunch of dump card state start end ends and the server becomes unusable.
This is running on a dell poweredge sc420 server with an Adaptec (Dell OEM) 39320 Ultra 320 controller - and two seagate ST373307CW hard drives (not raided). Currently we are only using the first drive of the pair.
Is it possible to run the OracleVM on this machine?
    Thanks,
    Adam

Found out our wonderful network admins put a firewall between each rack without telling us. Nice. Problem solved.

  • Callers are intermittently getting dead air then disconnected when arriving on the CVP !!

Callers are intermittently getting dead air then disconnected when arriving on the CVP ,
Is the problem with Voice Gateway (Ingress)/Gateway Device issue in CVP server ??
    Thanks !!!
    Shridhar Reddy

First thing to check would be Router Log Viewer to see if you have missed a Dialed Number - Call Type association on one of your CVP PIMs. If the gateway sends the call to a Proxy which then distributes to Call Servers, and not all the PIM Dialed Numbers are associated with the Call Type that runs your Scheduled Script, some will fail will all others will work.
You need to provide more information for us to have a stab at a remedy.

  • 975X - 4 GB - Problems with SB X-Fi

    Hello together,
I have a problem and really hope you guys can help me (I have no clue how to fix it...).
    First of all, my System:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
MB: MSI 975X Platinum Power Up Edition
    PSU: be-quite 530 W
    Graphic: MSI NX7900GTO
    RAM: 4 x 1024 MB DDR2-667 (Infineon)
    Sound: Soundblaster X-Fi XtremeMusic
OS: Windows XP SP2 (see below)
After I built in the sound card and booted Windows, several problems appeared:
    - Instead of the mouse cursor, a white square is shown
    - Some Desktop-Symbols are black
    - Some Tray-Symbols are not displayed
    - Black squares are shown in the screen
    - The System crashes often
When I take out one of the 1024 MB RAMs (no matter which one), the system runs fine again.
To fix the Problem (with 4 GB RAM and sound card) I already tried to install the Creative Drivers and tested the following boot.ini switches:
    /usepmtimer
    /pae
    /maxmem=4096
    /maxmem=3072
    /maxmem=2048
    /3GB /USERVA=2990
How can I fix this problem?
Does anyone have a similiar configuration which works?
    Many thanks in advance
    --- UPDATE ---
I installed Windows XP 64 Professional & updated my BIOS to Rev. 7.3. Unfortunately, the problem also exists under the 64-bit OS.
    Any Ideas?

@Exo: I don't think that this is the Problem: I exchanged the the sound card with a PCI NIC - No problems.
Somehow, replacing a soundcard with a network card does'nt seem to be a good test to me
You'll be wasting part of your 4 Gigs anyway if you stick to a 32 bit OS, The main reason 64 Bit was created is to overcome this memory limitation...
With 4 gigs physically taken, where will windows put its virtual memory ? Where will your VGA Ram be mapped ? what and where do creative's drivers do in memory ? ...
edit : After reading some posts on other forums it seems X-Fi cards actually do play around with memory mapping
