CVS and any other???

Hii,
I heard about Concurrent Version System (CVS), and it is platform independent. Is there any other tool better than this????????? Visual Source Safe is one from microsoft...but, only with windows...so, forget it.
Can somebody help me getting the info regarding any other utility??

Here's what I did:
First I tried the Winsock reset in the Command prompt. Nothing changed.
Next, I tried the instructions on http://http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123. The only other program that came up on the 'Winsock Providers' tab on the program was 2 Windows Live applications, which I can do without. So I deleted all Windows Live Applications.
I did the Winsock reset in the Command Prompt again and rebooted my comp.
Unfortunately, nothing has changed. iTunes keeps freezing at various stages of the sync, then shows the candy cane-striped bar with either the words 'Finishing sync' or 'Cancelling sync', before showing the Apple logo.
Sometimes, iTunes gets to the syncing stage - "Copying # of ####" - where it will trudge through the first, second and third tracks before flashing "Copying 4 of ####" for a split second and I catch "Cancelling sync" briefly before the Apple logo appears.
Again, I've repeated the steps I mentioned in my previous post. Does ANYONE know when the new version of iTunes is set to be released?! This one is driving me INSANE, to say the least!!

Vold Manager never detects the cd rom and any other removable media

Hi,
I have installed solaris 10(i86pc i386 i86pc) on my PC through Oracle Virtual box but I am stucked in a problem that the vold manager never detects the cd rom and any other removable media devices. I have tried many documented methods but could not get solution to this problem. I also stopped the volume manager (vold) and tried to mount the cd rom manually but still could not mount the cd rom.
I don't know how to configure solaris in such a way that it could detect cd rom and any other removable media.
Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Is it an IDE or SCSI CD-ROM? Can you post back the output of the following command?
ls -l /dev/dsk/c*

Having trouble udating to 10.4.6 and any other software

I'm having trouble installing 10.4.6, and any other software upgrade for that matter. I've tried to upgrade software on another program I use this week. Both the other app's and 10.4.6 updaters will start the install and then give me an error that says something like, "There were errors during installation. Please try installing again later."
Don't know what kind of errors...just "errors." Very un-mac like.
My system seems to be running fine otherwise. My apps work fine...it's just when I run a software updater. I've repaired permissions and Disk First Aid says there are no repairs necessary to my drive.
Any ideas?
It's a Powermac.G5 1.6ghz running 10.4.5.

I started to update from 10.4.5 on my brand new Mac G5 Quadra and the updater showed no drives in the drive window where you choose where to install. I tried both the Combo and the Delta, so then I went to disk utility to see if something was wrong, still no drives. Tried unhooking all peripherals. Booted from orig CD and got to disk utility, said had boot tree problem, repaired it. Tried to update again, still no drives. Even tried an fsck-y in Linux, said everything was fine. Still no drives. Tried Drive 10 and Tech tool ---said no problems. I called Apple help, I'd done everything he recommended...so he said to take it to the nearest Apple store. Not exactly the solution I was hoping for.

I run Disk Utility once a month just to keep things running smoothly. So far the rest of the machine is working fine...but My Mac is my business..without it I'm in big trouble. I'm worried. Any ideas out there?

Exactly where are you getting your Flash from? It is quite free from the maker, no password needed.

Data Recover From Formatted Drive? What is the best program to use to get back Logic Projects and any other file type?

I was in the process of reorganising my hard drives so I could RAID them however I managed to corrupt one drive and had to format it which meant I lost all my Logic Files and some other files. I managed to save a lot of files (mainly video files) before I had to format the drive but I need a Data Recovery service that will not alter anything on the hard drive and will put all the formatted files (regardless of the type) back for me so I can get the rest of the ones I need.

No. FS doesn't reconstruct folders. However, Data Rescue does, depending on how you use it. About the only thing in Data Rescue a Quick Scan ever seems to show you are files that are already live.
So that leaves you with a Deep Scan, or a Deleted Files scan. The first pass of a Deep Scan will attempt to retrieve folders and files, along with their original names. The second pass only looks for file patterns. Like recognizing a Photoshop .psd file. It will recover it, but give it a nonsense name. A Deleted Files scan only results in nonsense names of recognized file types; no folders.
What were you using File Salvage on? A hard drive?

No, both of the software mentioned are slower than molasses in January. When you delete anything in Windows, its file table entry simply tagged as deleted. So to unerase them, the tag is removed. That's why it works to quickly and easily (assuming you haven't already overwritten the data to be recovered).
In OS X though, the whole idea of the underlying UNIX structure is all about security. It's not supposed to be easy to retrieve deleted items. When you delete items, their file table entries are erased. So the only way to find deleted items is to scour the entire drive for BOF (Beginning Of File) markers that don't have a matching starting block to anything that is in the file table.
Another question, half the drive was empty. Will it fly over that empty space or will it sieve through it incase there was some files stored on it?

You would need your visitors to install some kind of add-on, since web pages do not have permission to block the display of the page address and users do not need to allow a new window to be modal and block other Firefox windows, much less other OS windows.
Over the years, people have developed extensions for kiosk-style displays. You could investigate those for ideas.

Select your "document" on your hard drive and ZIP it from Finder/File/Create Archive and then try linking to it. This will allow it to download when the link is clicked when viewed in the a browser.
You can place a "preview", in some form, on the web page and use this as the download link.
For example, you could type some "lead in" text into a shape and select the shape as the hyperlink.
Another way would be to put the preview and the download link on a page of its own and exclude this page from the navigation. When you create the hyperlink to this page you would select Link to "an external page", enter the URL for the page something like - http://web.mac.com/myname/mywebsite/documentpage.html
- and check the "open link in new window" box.
Then it will appear us a "popup" new window in the browser.

Multibooting Solaris, XP(Permenant) and any other OS(Testing).

I have had enough of Vista(46.2 minutes to reboot - that's not acceptable) and have decided to do my bi-anually attempt at using linux as my main OS. This time I really have a good feeling that I will be able to keep linux(Solaris) as my main OS, especially since most my time is used in development of java servlets and apps.

I plan to have XP and Solaris as permenant installations, however I would like to have one partition ready that I can install any OS on it, test it then install another, like this week I might have Vista(hahaha not realy), next wee Federa, and then maybe RedHat the following ect.
If I setup the system as described in the article above, can I reformat that linux partition and install other OS's in it's place without upsetting the boot config?
If Not, how can I achieve this?
If for some reason I want to do a clean re-install of XP or Solaris, can I format the particular partition, re-install and it will boot just like before?

whatever operating system you chose it will affect your Master Boot record.
if you install another version of microsoft operating system. it will overwrite your MBR and as result you won't be able to boot solaris or linux as grub resides in that MBR.
always install windows os first. then unix(solaris or unix) and install grub to mbr. grub detects other operatings systems in the computer and add and entry to the menu.lst.

Differences between Java Studio Creator and any other JSF IDE

Hi Guys,
I found that JSF code created when we use Studio Creator is Rave
while as if we use Bea Workshop Studio/Any Other Eclipse IDE for JSF is MyFaces ( whatever it may be).
What are the differences between these two? which one is better ?
I get confused why there are two different framework of JSF?
And I dont think there is any other IDE who supports Rave other than Java Studio Creator?

"Couldn't start this app" error when trying to open Action Items and any other built-in apps

Hi all,
When I try to open the Action Items app within an email in OWA, I get the error seen in the screenshot. In Outlook 2013, the frame comes up with a 404 error.
Third party apps load fine.
This is a new install of Exchange 2013 Enterprise with CU2. Everything else seems to be working fine. I have tried rebooting the server and disabling and re-enabling the apps with no luck. Can't seem to find anything in the Event Log about it.
Any ideas why this would happen and how to fix it?

Could you please check the IIS log and see what’s the error code?
Try using the administrator account to log in the Outlook and see if he can see the apps successfully.
