CWGraph3D ActiveX for 3D Rotate Tool

Hi,
I am using the "3D Rotator" tool (provided in the DIAdem Hands-On Exercise 7).  My computer does not have the CWGraph3D ActiveX control, though I was able to obtain an older version from the internet.  Now the SUD dialog works, but I do receive the error:
"Error loading control.  A newer version needed.  The default settings for the control will be used."
I found this error on a LabView discussion board, but have yet to find a solution.  Can anyone help?
Thank you!
Julia Moeller

Hey Julia,
What version of DIAdem do you currently have?  Is it Base, Advanced or Professional?  The 3D is only available in Advanced or Professional.  http://ni.com/diadem/diadem_ordering.htm Here is a comparison table.  If you have the license for it I can email it to you but I need your email address.  Otherwise, you would need to upgrade.

  • Illustrator CS5 Rotate Tool Anchor Point Bug

    Summary:
    I can reproduce this bug consistently, every single time.  I am unable to set a new anchor point for the rotate tool in Illustrator CS5.
    Steps to reproduce the bug:
    1.  Create a new shape, doesn't matter what
    2.  Press R or just select the rotate tool
    3.  Alt-Click to pick up the anchor point and drag to a new posiiton
    4.  Let the mouse go- at this point the anchor stays locked to the cursor even if I click and am only able to unlock it from the cursor if I click on a new tool, but without getting to choose a new anchor point.
    Also I tried this with a Intuos 2 tablet and pen with the same results.  I have an NVidia Quadro FX 3500 card installed with the latest driver as well.
    I'm not sure if this issue is related, but also in After Effects CS5 if I press 0 to start doing a preview and then click away say on Firefox, then click back to After Effects, I am unable to click around inside After Effects to get the render to stop.  It makes me wait until the whole comp is pushed into a ram preview before it unlocks itself.
    Any ideas?

    I too experience this problem and was hoping to find a solution.  I've tried reverting to early Wacom Driver versions with no success. I find that if you "break the connection" between the pen and the tablet then the rotate point will drop and the rotate dialog will appear.  I've found that this only works reliably when lifting the pen straight up off of the tablet til it loses signal. Not ideal for precision work.  You'll notice that the rotate point drops when you move over to the menus, so I'm guessing it has something to do with the "drawing area."
    My system specs for comparison.

    Windows 7 x64
    Wacom driver v. 615-3a

  • Rotate Tool

    Hi all,
    I am following this tutorial, http://vector.tutsplus.com/tutorials/illustration/lets-make-a-playful-yet-robust-3d-letter -design/
    Step 3 states "press V for the rotate tool".
    I have pressed V and nothing happens.
    Can anyone tell me how else to rotate text?
    Sorry for the dumb question
    Thank you
    josel

    Josel,
    The words used in step 3 are actually: Even after you apply 3D effects that you would like your letter to have you can also continue to rotate the letter to whatever angle you like, as I've done below. Just use the Selection Tool (V) to rotate the letter.
    My guess is that the author means you can (normally) select any letter and apply (an additional) rotation like in Step 2. Otherwise, it should have read  Just use the Rotation Tool (R) to rotate the letter.
    The rotation shown does not correspond to a simple rotation as with the Rotation Tool, but to a combination of angle changes as in Step 2.

  • Using the rotate tool and hand tool at the same time in CS6

    When using the rotate tool, you used to be able to use the hand tool even when the Rotate dialogue box was up. Is there a way to get that back?
    I make Mandalas (http://www.behance.net/gallery/Mandala/2700497) and work from the center out. This poster is 18"x24" so once I start to get to the outer edge, I'm zoomed into the center at 6400% so I can get my crosshairs as precise as I can, then enter a number (45 degrees, 20 degrees, etc.). Clicking Preview helps, but if you're zoomed in and the object is out of view, you have to guess where it's going. In CS5, you could press down the space bar and use the Hand Tool even while the dialog box was up. Is there a fix for this? (Sorry if this doesn't make sense...it's kind of hard to explain over a forum.)

    CS5 on Windows 7.
    I can use the hand tool while pressing the Space bar while another tool including the Rotate tool is current. But I can not use the Hand tool in anyway if I'm in the process of using the Rotate tool by holding down the mouse button or dragging with it.
    While the Rotate dialog is displayed I can not do anything outside of it in any way.
    I can use the scroll wheel on the mouse to scroll the view up or down vertically while using any of the tools including the Rotate tool but not when a tool dialog is open.
    I'm curious if others experience different behavior on a Windows system .

  • My rotate tool won't work? (FreeHand MX, Mac OS 10.6.3)

    Hi All,
    I recently loaded FreeHand MX on a Macbook Pro.  It seems to run pretty happily, except I can't get the "rotate" tool to select. I added this tool to the default toolbar (using "toolbar/customize" but when try to I select it, the cursor reverts almost immediately to an arrow or magnifying glass (whatever it was just now). So to rotate objects I've had to activate View/Transform Handles, or use the Transform dialogue box and type in my values. The former solution actually works pretty well but I'd really like for the basic rotate tool to work!
    I read last month in the forum people were having problems with FH and OS 10.6.2; someone said 10.6.3 solved their problem, so I upgraded to 10.6.3 before loading FH MX. But I'm wondering if this is a 10.6.3 compatibility issue, or if there's something I can do to menus, preferences, or restarting, that would make this tool work. I need a solution that doesn't involve reloading the software from my FreeHand disks.
    If you can help solve this, much appreciated! Then I'd just have my usual getting-used-to-MX learning curve (I normally run FreeHand 10 on an old G5 and Mac OS 10.4.11).
    Thanks!
    Ben Pease

    Aha! No wonder the transform panel was always open to type in the values as a workaround.
    You were correct; I had used the wrong icon. I found the other one (not one I would have immediately recognized from FH10 and earlier) and it works fine.
    Thanks again, Judy!

  • Illustrator CC Rotate Tool Problem

    So I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this problem, but it seems I'm having issues with the accuracy of the rotate tool in Illustrator CC. When I rotate an object 90 degrees (either by entering in the rotate angle value or using the free rotate tool), the anchors no longer line up exactly. Here's a sample image showing what I'm referring to:
    Note the red arrow pointing to the line not being straight. After I release the rotation (holding shift), it still isn't straight. Anyway, this is really starting to bug me. My software is up-to-date and I haven't seen Adobe release anything on this. Has anyone else noticed/encountered this? If so, does anyone know of a fix for it?

    dj,
    It does look rather strange: everything seems to be right, except for the two short not quite horizontal segments.
    As far as I can see it rules out both an Align to Pixel Grid and a Constrain Angle issue.
    With no clue, I have no clue whether the following may help.
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • PSE 8 rotate tool doesn't work

    For some reason, the custom part of the rotate tool in my PSE 8 has stopped working. When I select a custom amount of rotation, the last amount I entered, which was yesterday, is still there. When I try to change the amount, nothing happens. So, currently, I can only rotate to the left or right 90 degrees (those buttons still work) or in .5-degree increments left or right, which was my previous setting. I've rebooted my computer, but that didn't help. Anyone have any ideas as to what's going on?

    If you're going to reinstall, make sure you do so in "simplified mode" with anti-virus and other background services disabled:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#Try_Adobes_generic_troub leshooting
    Also, the uninstall leaves behind a lot of detritus, including preference files and hidden state files that tend to get corrupted.  That FAQ explains how to manually remove that stuff.

  • 3D rotate tools not working correctly in PS 6.

    Using Dell, Windows7 with Nvidia GEForce GTX 260 card. Driver 296.10 (current) Rotate tools not smooth on only 1 axis for each X,Y,Z. Its like snapping to point on one axis and smooth on the other. Trying to figure out if its graphics card or Photoshop related? I have tried different card settings and different PS preference settings with no success at fixing the problem.

    Well the solution was a simple one for this and probably for many other 3D problems. When in 3D workspace just reset the work space and all is well.

  • Animating with 3D Rotation Tool

    I always have issues when I try to animate an object using the 3D rotation tool. Every time I use it on the second keyframe I rotate the object using the 3d rotation handles on the object and then when I play it back it always over rotates. Why does it do this? This tool is so frustrating. I hope they fix it.

    Vectors are rendered like bitmaps by the Player for 3D (hence the fuzziness). This is a known issue, and I hope that it can be looked at in the future - you can vote for Player issues in their bugbase here: http://bugs.adobe.com/flashplayer/

  • How to change decimal point in Rotate Tool.

    Hi,
    I use the rotate tool to design gauges, like clocks, a lot. I hold the ALT button and click on the center of my drawing and then a window pops up to enter in what degree I want my object to be. Currently the decimal point only allows for hundredths, ex. 45.25 degrees. Is there any way to change this to thousandths or even higher, ex. 45.25125? I've attached a screenshot to show you what I mean.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Laura

    Laura Belle,
    When you enter the full decimal value, that should give you the right rotation whatever the truncated value is.
    At least I hope that is still the case in your version.
    You may test it as follows:
    1) Create a square with W = H = 100;
    2) Rotate thrice, each time inserting 33.333333 degrees, then rotate by -100 degrees;
    3) Look at the W and H values;
    4) Repeat 1) - 3), only with 33.33 degrees and see what you get.
    You should get W = H = 100 in 3) and  something like 100.017 to 100.018 in 4).

  • Rotation Tool in Acrobat 3D v. Toolkit

    Notice the Rotation tool in Toolkit works intuitively as compared to that in Acrobat 3D, which seems to require one analyizes the ortho movements. I'm planning to use for end-users, which renders the rotational tool in Acrobat 3D pretty useless for them (it's like floating in space w/no controls). Wonder why/if Adobe couldn't have put Toolkit's version in Acrobat 3D. Maybe it'll be in version 8.

    Geoffrey,
    during embedding of the 3D object using Acrobat you can attach a JavaScript to your U3D file. It is on the same dialogue window that opens after drawing the rectangle with the 3D tool.

  • No rotate tool with the Macbook Pro dual screen

    I have hooked up a 2nd screen (22" monitor) to my Macbook pro (OS 10.6.6, 2.4 GHz i5, 4 gb rom) wanting to have the working graphics on the 22" monitor and the photoshop tools on the macbook. While in Photoshop CS5, I attempted to use the rotate tool on the 22" monitor but the program would not allow me to. The program stated that the Open GL needed to be turned on. I checked the file handling section of the preferences and the openGL was still on.
    What do I need to do to have the flexibility to rotate my image with the rotate tool on the connected monitor?

    hi abbyt - Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    if you mean dual-boot btw OSX and WinXP - you sure can. apple provides Bootcamp for precisely this reason and it works very well...
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/
    if you mean dual-boot btw OSX and some kind of Linux - i have less experience there, but i think its possible. perhaps the easiest way is to use Parallels Workstation (but that's not really dual booting in fact - it's virtualization)...
    what "2nd" OS were you thinking about? cheers

  • Problem with rotate tool?

    Hello all,
    I'm having a heck of a time with the Rotate tool (Windows 7, Illustrator CS 6).
    I draw an ellipse.
    I click R to get the rotate tool.
    I place the "anchor/center" at the end of the ellipse.
    I go to the other end and try dragging (or alt-dragging to get a duplicate) by clicking on the opposite anchor.
    Nothing happens. My cursor moves from the shape, but it doesn't rotate.
    Which then resets back to the rotate tool.
    What am I doing wrong? I've followed videos and they're doing it just fine. Is there a setting I'm missing?
    It's frustrating so I'd appreciate any help.
    Thank you so much.

    Thanks for taking the time to reply.
    Yes, I guess that was it. I figured it out after I asked the question.
    I feel stupid. LOL
    I appreciate your help!

  • Rotate tool problem

    I just installed inDesign CS4 on my new mac and am having a problem with my rotate tool. When I try to rotate a polygon it somehow skews it too. I can't figure out if the settings are wrong but it only seems to happen with polygons. Any idea what's going wrong?

    First thing, make sure you've run the updater. Last patch for CS4 was 6.0.6.
    Next, what OS version?
    Finally, please post a screen shot so we can see what you are talking about. Use the camera icon on the web page to embed an image in your post:

  • Is there a 3D rotate tool in Photoshop CS4 (non-extended)?

    I have just installed Photoshop CS4 of my new iMac.  Although I had been led to believe that even the non-extended version came with the 3D rotation tool, in fact, I can find no evidence of it!  Was I misled? If so, I am sad.  Please advise how I might find it, or even add it?

    Yes, you are probably right about how I was led to believe the 3D tool was on the "basic" CS4 Photoshop.  Thanks very much.

    Hi Meredith,
    Illy aka Adobe Illustrator aka AI.
    Photoshop CS4 (non Extended) has a Rotate view tool that works with support video cards to rotate the document canvas. Could that be what was mistakenly called out as 3D rotate tool. (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/photoshop/features/?view=topnew) Depending on the configuration/age of your iMac model you may not se this.
    All the 3D features in Photoshop are for Extended only. (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/photoshopextended/?promoid=DRHXB)
