Cyan screen when MBP comes out of sleep or power on.

For around a month now, my MBP's screen has been going a Cyan colour, and sometimes with a green now and again. This usually happens when it comes out of a deep sleep or when I power it on. I took it to the Apple store and they said that there are no hardware issues, so it must be an app that it causing the problem. It was assumed that 'Flux' was the cause, an app which changes the colour and brightness of the screen to lessen the strain on your eyes when looking at the screen in a dark surrounding. I was recommended AppZapper to get rid of the app and it's connections, which I did. The problem didn't happen for a day or two and now it is back again. I read somewhere that a broken fan may be the cause, as a buzzing sound is coming from the inside of the laptop, which does sound like a hardware issue, which I mentioned at the genius bar but as it showed that there were no hardware issues when we tested my MBP, nothing was thought of it. Does anyone have a solution to this, or know what the cause may be? Thanks.

The purpose of Flux is to lower the screen temperature (blue spectrum) at night so your computer monitor doesn't keep you awake by stimulating the pituitary gland in your brain that controls the sleep cycle.
It is important to make sure any software like that (especially) works with your currrent machine and OS X verison before using it.
The Mac has it's own controls in System Preferences > Displays to adjust the brightness and automatically dims the display to not be as bright at night.
I was recommended AppZapper to get rid of the app and it's connections, which I did.
Using this program is always a mistake, because it does a search only, thus other files are flagged and the use assumes the zapper knows what it doing and then deletes essential needed files or it doesn't catch certain files.

What likely occurred is you missed something to uninstall in Flux, and/or it's not compatible with your OS X/machine or AppZapper deleted a unrelated necessary file.
It's also possible you either have a bad fan that's striking it's own enclosure, or something got inside the machine, which wouldn't show up on the hardware tests.
I would start out by going through the Steps #1-#8 here, this will fix OS X if you deleted a essential file out of it, also kick out anything by a possible incomplete uninstall of Flux, reset the SMC and PRAM etc.
Step by Step to fix your Mac
Next I would check with the Flux developer about finding out where all the parts of Flux are, and it's manual uninstall method, any issues with your machine/OS X version, then use the free Easy Find to locate the orphaned files in your Applications or User folder if there are any. The #8 Step above will refresh OS X, so no need to look there.

Once that's been done, if your still having problems, then have Apple open the machine up and inspect the moving parts.

  • CD Eject sound when MBP comes out of sleep

Perhaps this is typical - I'm a new convert from the PC world. But the only thing that I don't like about my new MBP is that the CD drive (when empty) makes the CD eject noise every time the machine comes out of sleep. Is this typical? What's it trying to accomplish? Is there any way to disable this behavior?
    Any insight would be welcomed.
    thanks,
    Pete

Yes it's normal. It is the behaviour of the Matshita (Panasonic) drives as they are powered, which is what happens when you boot and wake from sleep. Unfortunately there's nothing you can do about it.

  • My macbook pro keeps freezing when it comes out of sleep mode

This is the issue.....when i open the macbook the screen comes on immediately but everything is locked up except for the cursor. it moves but i can't scroll or change pages. the screen totally locks up for about 3-5 minutes. it just started doing this a couple of days ago. thx

This article explains how to reset the power manager which is one of the first things I'd do. If that doesn't do it, try creating a new account. Restart your computer and log directly into the new account. Use the computer for a few minutes, browse the Internet or play solitare or something. Then sleep the computer and wake it up a minute later or so. Locked up or normal?
If this appears to solve your problem then probably you can look to something in your account that is causing the problem. It might be a program you are running, a login item that is mostly faceless, or perhaps the driver of a device that you installed or updated recently. Tracking this down could be difficult but the Console might help.
If the problem persisted in the new account then the issue is either OS related at the top level or hardware. Calling AppleCare or going to an Apple store might be the easiest solution. But if you are using TimeMachine or have some other complete backup system you could format the drive, reinstall the OS and then migrate your applications and data using the backup.

    Symptoms
If your Macintosh computer won't turn on, here's how to troubleshoot it. Please keep in mind that although your computer may display similar symptoms that prevent it from showing video, this article discusses what to do if the computer won't turn on, meaning that when you press the power button:
You don't hear a startup chime.
You don't hear any fan or drive noise.
The power button or power indicator doesn't light up at all.
If your computer doesn't display any video, it may display one or more of these similar symptoms when you press the power button:
You may hear a startup chime.
You may hear fan or drive noise.
You may see the power button or power indicator light up.
If any of these conditions occurs, see Troubleshooting: My computer has no video instead.
    Resolution
If your computer won't turn on, try each of these steps:
Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a working wall outlet, and that it's properly connected to the power adapter. (To check if the wall socket is working, plug in a lamp or other electrical device.)
Make sure that the power adapter is properly connected to the power port on the side or back of the computer.
Disconnect all accessories that are plugged into the computer, such as a printer, hub, or other mobile device.
Reset the computer's PMU, SMC, or PRAM. Refer to the instructions for your model:

The fingerprint scanner will be a function of new hardware.

  • After maverick update mac won't come out of sleep

After I updated to Mavericks my macbook pro wont come out of sleep modes, I will close the screen or let the computer go to sleep from inactivity and i can see that its breathing but it wont come out of sleep mode and than requires a hard shutdown. It also takes a very long time to reboot and/or restart as it sits on the gray

Sadly, I had the issue resurface today. It went into standby/sleep mode while I was in a meeting (on battery power), and later I tried to wake it, and all I got was a black screen with a mouse cursor.
The keyboard brightness and volume keys on the keyboard were responsive (I could hear the audio level clicks as I changed it), but the visual overlay didn't show (where it shows the white speaker graphic with the bar of rectangles representing volume level). Also, the screen brightness keys did nothing.
I finally used Ctrl + Cmd + Power to force a restart. Luckily, my user account didn't get completely hosed like it did a couple weeks ago.
So, it looks like Migration Assistant isn't the culprit here. This is the system I just finished rebuilding. So it's either a bug in OS X/Mavericks, or it's due to an application I have running, or a configuration change I've made.
It seems to only happen when I'm on battery power, for what that's worth. I don't recall it ever happening when I'm plugged in. I have Power Nap disabled while on battery power, btw.
I'm going to enable SSH access so I can try to SSH in the next time this happens. Perhaps that will provide useful diagnostic info.
Anyone have any tips or suggestions?

  • MacBook won't come out of sleep mode.

My MacBook freezes every time I try to wake it after I put it in sleep mode. I have to restart my computer to get anything to work. I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and never had a problem before. Are there any fixes to this, other than never putting my MacBook to sleep.

    Here is the output.
Index Refs Address            Size       Wired      Name (Version) <Linked Against>
       95    0 0xffffff7f81062000 0x5000     0x5000     com.logmein.driver.LogMeInSoundDriver (1.0.0) <94 5 4 3>

I don't know what all that means. I have previously removed the LogMeIn program by dragging it to the trash. I don't use it any more. Also I did boot in the guest account and it wouldn't come out of sleep mode. To be more specific, when I hit a key to get out of sleep mode all I get is the color wheel spinning on the screen as if it is trying, but nothing else happens.  I have to reboot the computer for it to work again.

  • My laptop won't come out of sleep

I have the Macbook Pro w/ retina display and whenever I go to open it, my laptop won't come out of sleep and I have to hold the power button to turn it off then back on again. I have to do the same thing if I walk away from it for to long and the laptop goes to sleep except this time when I bring it out of slepp it just shows the enter password for user screen but it is frozen. I got my laptop on the 8th of June 2013 so it is practicly brand new. Does anyone know how to fix this problem.

Brand new out of the box this shouldn't happen. Bring it to an Apple store or AASP.

  • Monitor does not come out of sleep Mac-Mini Mini-DVI to Dual  DVI-D cable

I have an August 2009 Mac-Mini that I'm using with an Apple supplied Mini-DVI to DVI adapter along with a DVI-D Dual Link Cable connect to a Sceptre X7XV-Naga+ LCD monitor.
The monitor is going into sleep mode on its own with no way to disable this feature on the monitor itself. I've disabled sleep mode on the Mac-Mini in the power setting in System Preferences.
When in sleep mode and I move the mouse or press a key, the monitor will not come out of sleep mode. From other posts, I read that the issue might be that I wasn't using a Dual-Link DVI-D cable, so I bought one and installed such a cable. That has not resolved the problem. The monitor will not come out of sleep mode. When I have the monitor connected with a mini-display port to VGA adapter instead of a DVI-D cable, it will come out of sleep mode every time.

I know it's a year later, but I'm not finding much through search.
I have the same exact problem.  Difference being I'm using an iMac with 10.7.5.
Same video board and monitor - ATI Radeon HD 6750M video card connected via DisplayPort to Samsing S24A850DW.
I've tried two different mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cables and no change.
I think I read that 10.8.3 might fix the issue.  Anyone that can confirm that, or has another solution?

  • HP LaserJet P3005x will not come out of sleep mode

Printer will not come out of sleep mode (after being in sleep mode for an extended period of time (over 24 hrs)).  When this happens, I can not ping the printer and pressing any of the buttons on the printer will not bring it out of sleep mode.  I'm testing now to see if I can recreate this with the printer attached to my PC via USB.

    Hi arosecarter,
I understand your monitor is not coming out of sleep mode. Take a look at the following support document, Resolving Problems with Sleep and Hibernate Modes (Windows 7). Step 3 might be of particular interest to you, as you mentioned your keyboard and mouse are not really working for you either. Perhaps it is another connected device that is causing the issue? Anyway, hopefully this document will be of help to you. Best of luck. Have a wonderful day.

I have a MacBook Pro, A 2.33 GHz Intel Core,15". When I shut the lid, it won't come out of sleep mode. Making me have to re-start the computer. It started ever once in a while. • U410 Touch won't come out of sleep mode

I've been having some serious issues with my 3 month old ideapad U410 touch. I first started having problems after installing Windows 8.1. There were many compatibility issues and I had to do a restore to factory settings to go back to Windows 8. That was a pain. Then I continued having errors messages regarding the Intel Rapid Start Technology, so I called Lenovo support. The technician helped me get into BIOS and disable the IRST, but then my computer took much longer to boot and it would power down any time I closed the laptop. They advised me to send my computer to a warranty service center.
I just received my computer today. It seems as though they did not solve the problem. The first time I closed the laptop to put it into sleep mode, it would not come out of sleep mode. It would go to the windows screen, but it would not allow me to log in. I contacted support again and they told me that I should try to do a factory restore (again). They then told me that since this is a software issue and not a hardware issue that I would have to contact their paid service to get further help. This has been a very frustrating experience and I am on the verge of telling everyone I know about the poor service I've received. I was very happy with my system until about a month ago.
Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this issue?

  • MacBook Pro comes out of sleep mode while lid is closed

    Hey guys,
I have a MacBook Pro that is slightly over a year old. I'm running Leopard 10.5.5, and I have a strange problem where the computer comes out of sleep mode while the lid is still closed. This happens without any USB plugs being inserted or removed. Basically it just comes out of sleep (I can tell because I can hear the hard drive spin up as well as the noise the cd-drive makes when it's woken up), then it seems to realize that the lid is still closed and goes back to sleep. This used to happen somewhat infrequently, but I got fed up when this happened today about 10 times in a row as I was trying to study for an exam.
I have applecare so I'm not worried about having to take it in, it's just a strange, annoying problem. I have not been able to find anything from searching google or the help forums, so if anyone knows what could be causing this and how I can fix the problem it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I did as you said, and I think I found the perpetrating program. It showed:
    "11/28/08 11:41:24 PM [0x0-0xb90b9].com.apple.Safari[1261] Fri Nov 28 23:41:24 Macintosh-37.local Safari[1261] <Error>: Invalid JPEG file structure: SOS before SOF\n"
Any idea what this means? The only other thing that showed up as an issue was:
    "11/28/08 11:42:16 PM iCal[1267] * Assertion failure in -[CoreEventResizeTracker mouseUp:sender:], /SourceCache/iCal/iCal-1270/iCal/src/calendar-views/x-days/CoreEventCreationTra cker.m:697"
    or
    "11/29/08 12:19:34 AM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.backupd-wake[1287]) Exited with exit code: 1"
I have no idea what this means, so if anyone can shed some light on it it would be very much appreciated.
