Cycle between spaces in Mavericks automatically

Hi,
I run an app product team and receive lots of data, information, run builds and have various feeds from Twitter and Facebook.
I am trying to rig up a mac mini with an external display so that I can show all this information on a 5 min loop. Those items that are web based are straight forward as there is a great plug-in for Chrome called Tab Carousel. However some of the information I have is in other apps, including Adobe, excel etc.
The solution I can think of would be to put each data source or app in a different Mavericks space and cycle between them. Does anyone know of a way/app that can do this?

It worked for me with SQL*Plus 9.2 on Windows 2000 command
prompt :-) I am only guessing from your use of "program files" you are using a variant of Windows.
I can see in Oracle's bug database there have been a lot of
little quirks with parameter quote handling in various versions
on various platforms. This appears to be due to differences
on various operating systems in the way that quotes are
natively handled.
Perhaps checking Oracle's bug database might reveal a work
around. If there is nothing similar logged it would be good
to log a bug so it can be addressed.

However, cycle.c allows cycling across tags rather than layouts. Does anyone else know how to enable this functionality?

sorry to bump this thread, but i too want the same behaviour as choogi, but can't seem to get bob127's suggestion to work.

Hi I am having problems downloading and updating apps on my iPad and iPhone. The message cycles between waiting and loading then I get an error message saying unable to download app. Eventually,after many attempts it works.

The message cycles between waiting and downloading then eventually says unable to download app. Sometimes after many attempts it wil eventually work. I tested it on an old iPhone 3G and got the same problem so it is not an iOS 5 issue. My WI-FI connection is working fine. I was wondering if this is an App Store problem? Anyone else in the UK having this problem?

iTunes Support wasn't of any use to me.
I have also been having another problem - with BBC iPlayer and other video streaming not working due to insufficient bandwidth, despite my overall download speed being consistently around 50Gb. This is also affecting AppleTV downloads
I am using Virgin Media as my ISP, and was wondering whether you do as well. This might be the common thread.

Four finger swiping between spaces doesn't work in Mountain Lion

I have my magic trackpad settings to include 3 finger dragging which means that activating Mission Control, or swiping between full screen apps and spaces requires 4 fingers. I have a MBP running Mountain Lion and it works fine, but on a MBA connected to a thunderbolt display and using a magic trackpad, it doesn't work. I can 4 finger swipe for Mission Control, but I cannot swipe between full screen apps and spaces using 4 fingers. The only way it will work is to disable the 3 finger drag, and set it to use 3 finger swipes for moving between full screen apps and spaces.
Am I missing something? I don't think so.

I already have that checked. All settings are correct. The weird thing is, that with those settings turned on, four finger swiping reacts like 2 finger swiping, except for engaging Mission Control. So, on a properly working machine, no matter what app is open, four finger swiping left to right will take me between spaces. BUT, on this machine four finger swiping left to right over a browser will make the browser pages go back and forth. I have all the settings set exactly like all my other Macs. It's only this one machine that is using the magic trackpad that is not working correctly.
New batteries are installed, and I have no other issues with the trackpad. It seems like a software bug. This MBA does have FileVault turned on. I'm wondering if that's an issue.

Ctrl + numbers switch between spaces doesn't work in lion

After a fresh install of Lion I'veexperienced strange behavior in mission control. I copied all my apps,documents, settings, etc. from SL to Lion but I noticed something different in Lion. Before I changed spaces by using ctrl+number-keys but for some reasonthis doesn’t work in Lion for me. It does nothing. When I hold down ctrl anduse the arrow-key it scrolls to the next space with a smooth animation. Afterthis and still holding the ctrl-key and pressing a number-key (3 for instance)it does jump to that space with a faster animation. But after releasing thectrl-key and trying it again without any arrow keys involved it doesn’t work atall. Is there anyone hew is experiencing the same problem? Anyone with a possibleexplanation or a way to solve this issue? I’m wondering if this has somethingto do with the clean install because my father did an upgrade from SL to Lionand ctrl+number-keys to switch between spaces works fine for him.

Go to the Keyboard preference pane -> Keyboard Shortcuts -> Mission Control and check to see if you have the ^ + number keys set.

Unable to move applications/documents between spaces--why?

I've noticed this the last couple of times I've used spaces on my _*Macbook Pro:_*
I'll have 4 spaces, each with a different application or document. When I try and move a document or application to a different space, I simply can't. It's as if the applications are frozen in those spaces.
In other words, I can't move applications between spaces. They seem frozen in their spaces.
In both instances, my Macbook Pro is plugged into a Powerpoint projector using the adapter. My Macbook is set to mirror displays so as to project on the screen.
No problems pre-Snow Leopard
Any ideas?

Anyway it was as simple as holding down the application in the dock and just selecting "Options -> Assign to -> None (rather than All Desktops).

Slower switching between Spaces

It seems Apple made the speed of switching between Spaces (with 4 fingers to the left/right) slower on edges. Now it's "landing" much slower than in Lion. It's rather frustrating.
I tried to find Terminal hacks to fix this but none of them worked for me.

Command defaults write com.apple.dock workspaces-edge-delay -float 0.1 doesn't work out.

Cycle between patches

So this might be an obvious question, but I can't tell. I have mainstage set up to where I have a set for each song. I'm also using mainstage as a guitar rig, so each set has 2 patches in it, one for clean guitar, and one for distorted guitar. Then those patches are going through an aux channel with all of my effects. Each set also has a playback set up with backing tracks for that song. The problem I'm having is I'm using an FCB1010 foot controller to trigger the playback, as well as switch in between the patches. I will sometimes accidentally press patch up instead of patch down on the foot controller, and instead of cycling between the two patches in the set, it will go to the patch in the set above. This will immediately stop the playback and ruin the song. This has turned into a huge problem for me, and I'm wondering if there's any way to set it up so if I press patch up instead of patch down, instead of going up to the patch in the next set, it will just cycle between the two in the set I'm in. Anybody know how I can do this? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I can't think of any clean way to do this within MainStage alone. You would really need to intercept incoming program changes, perform arithmetic to determine what to do with an incoming program change value and then send the appropriate program change into MainStage. For example, since you always have two items, assuming they're at locations (1,2), (3,4),....(2n-1, 2n), and you send in a patch up command, the processor could look at the current program number and if even, go down one, otherwise go up one.
It would be trivial to implement this with something like Max/MSP but unfortunately that's an expensive solution. I'm not sure if the free MidiPipe tool has enough functionality to do this but it might be worth checking.
The cynical side of me suggests more practice so you simply don't make the mistake (grin)

IPad cycling between Apple logo and Grinding icon endlessly

I was tooling along using my iPad when a notice for updating to IOS 8.02 came up. Then without touching any buttons my iPad started rebooting. I am cycling between the Apple logo and the working or grinding icon grinding then freezing. I cannot turn the iPad off and the battery is almost totally depleted. I tried to charge the battery overnight, but it is not charging. Any solutions? I went to iTunes to back up. When the Apple logo is showing iTunes says it cannot back up because the iPad is locked. it only recognizes the iPad when the Apple logo is showing

If you can't get in any other way, you can try restoring using recovery mode first. If that won't work, maybe you can erase it and start over using find my iPhone.

After charging for at least an hour I would try in order:
- resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restoring the iPod, first from backup and then to factory defaults/new iPod. If iTunes does not see the iPod first try placing the iPod in recovery mode. If still unsuccessful try placing it in DFU mode.

Accidentally dragging windows between Spaces

I am constantly finding myself accidentally dragging app windows between spaces. If you are in space 3 or 4 (or any space on the bottom row) and you are dragging a window to move it around, if you drag it along the top of the screen for too long, spaces thinks that you want to move it to the space above it, and pops you and the window to the new space. Is there a way to disable that option?

don't know how to disable it altogether but you can increase the delay before it happens. the default delay is 0.75 (seconds).
To set it to , say, 3 seconds, enter the following in terminal
defaults write com.apple.dock workspaces-edge-delay -float 3
to get back to the original setting
use
defaults write com.apple.dock workspaces-edge-delay -float 0.75

IBooks not syncing between iOS7 and Maverick

iBooks not syncing between iOS7 and Maverick
Just updated my MBP to Mavericks and only a few items have synced from my phone to the mac in iBooks. The phone was also updated to iOS7.0.3 (the latest) today too before the Mavericks update.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is this a bug which will hopefully be fixed shortly? Or is there something I can do to resolve this?
I have a number of .pdf´s in iBooks (.pdf books) on the phone and would obviously want everything on the phone accessible on the computer, as is the idea.

This has been my headache since day one and a complete swing and a miss by Apple. I haven't been able to get ANYTHING I have not explicitely purchased from iTunes to sync in iBooks across device.
For example: If I load an ePub or PDF into iTunes and "manually" add to a device, this works just fine.
However, if I open a PDF file on my iPhone into iBooks, it doesn't show up in any of my other devices, including the new iBooks on my iMac with Maverick. it doesn't matter which device it's added, nothing syncs if it's not purchased from iTunes.
Please, someone make me a liar and tell me I've completely missed something.
Apple: Why or why can't I add PDF files to iBooks on my iMac and have them automagically show up in the collection I created on all my devices? Because I didn't purchase them from you, you say? Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Then don't let me add it in the first place and stop advertising "my content anywhere on any device" because this has been broken from day one.

Swiping between spaces buggy?

When using a Java programm or focusing a Java programm swiping with the Magic Mouse between spaces stops working for a few minutes.
Any ideas?

Space bar works automatically

when i try to type something for example on the url bar or on facebook the tab bar or the space bar goes automatically. like if it wants to type apple mac it comes as ' ap pl e ma c.' please tell me what to do

I've had problems like that – give the keyboard a good vacuum. Even a small dirt particle can cause problems.
