Cycle count and inventory document generation

hi.
Currrent Scenario : Cycle count has been configured for Quarterly cycle count for 20 materials.
Float period has been set for 5 days.
Procedure : Customer wants to do inventroy count for the  20 materials at the rate of one material per day.
Question : 20 Materials falling under "C" quarterly cycle count show up for Physical inventory.
Can the customer create an inventory document for <b>inventory count each day for each material</b> or will they have to create 20 inventory documents for count at one go since the float period is set for 5days.
Will the float period indicated play a part if the physical inventory is planned for each material on separate days.
Or if an physical inventory has been planned for the quarterly managed material, all material in that category say "C" would anyway show up during the quarterly inventory cycle count period. And the inventory count can be done for each material on seperate days.
Thanks

hi Arif.,
Earlier situation : Cycle count procedure was only A.
Present situation : Cycle count procedure is now ABCD .
But only C.c indicator A is still active for all material. We have not
changed the Cc indicators for any material.
Transported to production on Friday.
My question is :
On monday ,when the batch program was executed for printing of inventory
documents, Why does it generate a whole lot inventory documents for
Materials which have not been inventored even when the C.c indicators
remain A for all the Materials. We have not even in-corporated the
Quarterly cycle count indicators for the few selected materials.
Should the system:
1. Print Inventory documents only for the current period or
2. Is the system behaving properly due to the change in Cycle count?
Only the Cycle count procedure has been changed to 4 times in a fiscal year.
Do review the information and update me.

  • How to exclude a set of materials from  cycle counting physical inventory

How to exclude a set of materials from  cycle counting physical inventory
    Details:
Set of material to be uploaded to SAP on say Jan-2011  from another system with cc indicator D:once
in a year  and fixed, before uploading into SAP physical inventory will be done .
So we donot want again those materials to fall in the cycle counting in the same year.
So is there a method to exclude these materials from CC counting for the year 2011
or is there some way to upload last inventory count date in SAP system so that it will exclude those
    materials?
    Any answers will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Bijay

    HI Antony
    Thank you for your reply.
If material count is less than this method is well valid.
IN our case there are 7lakhs materials and having diff cc indicator A,B,C,D...
So it will cumbersome for client to keep track of all those materials when to update cc indicator.
So any other thought? can we upload last count date while updating materials details  or similar
    Thanks

  • Number ranges for material document (migo) and inventory  documents

    Hi Gurus,
We need a different number ranges for goods receipt documents  and inventory documents because we have different company merged in to one box.Can any body tell me on what basis we differenciate the number ranges how to configure it.
If we take PO, we have different doc types and we assign number ranges to those documents. in case of Miro , it  is the single transaction code used by different companies and how to give different number ranges.
    Regards,
    Sri........

    Hi,
I think number ranges of inventory documents are on client level not on company code wise . because even though  your creating new document and assigned different number ranges for the documents but  these while assigning  ranges to T codes (MIGO or MIRO) you dont have option like company codes ( tcode OMBA) so number ranges for inventory documents are at client level  not at company code level.

  • Transaction MIBC-- ABC Analysis for Cycle Counting - Physical Inventory

    Dear Friends,
Could you please explain me the cycle count indicator relationship to the percentage of inventory to be counted.
When i am using MIBC transaction and changing the Percentages....based on percentages the system is proposing the new cycle count indicators for the materials.
    Thanks in advance

    Dear Sanjay,
I would recommend you to write your question into the ERP - Logistics Materials Management (MM) topic. I suppose you will get more information about MIBC there.

  • Partially Counting Physical Inventory Document

Currently our sites are encouraged to fully count a Physical Inventory document within the same business day. However, it is possible to partially count and post a document. Just wondering if there are any negative side effects to partially completing a count document in SAP? Does a partially completed document lock anything in the system for those articles on the document?
    Thanks,
    Nicole

    Hi,
The question is not addressing the scenario correctly.
Hope you are talking about inventory count at IM level.
If you post the differences after the partial counting then the materials that are not counted will be blocked for any kind of inventory transactions...
Similarly if you do partial counting and post the differences at WM level then those bins for which counting have not been made are permanently blocked and you will not be unblock it for ever.
So if you do partial counting please ensure that difference postings are not done w/o completing the count details for all the items in the document.

    TY for the help

    This is quoted from apple.com...
"A properly maintained Apple notebook battery is designed to retain up to 80 percent of its original capacity after 300 full charge and discharge cycles."
So you would see only 80% of the original battery life at 300 cycles on a battery that was maintained "properly".
At 228 you have used it quite a bit, depending on how well it was maintained (I don't see any information to suggest what "maintained" means) It very well may be dropping off and needs replacement.

  • What's the average cycle count and lifespan of a PB G4 battery?

I've had my computer 15" Powerbook for about 22 months. Cycle count =367. My AppleCare warranty ends in about 14 more months. What's the average cycle count before the battery dies?
By the way, I use my computer everyday. This thing better than any other macbook pro out there. Thanks.

First, you should know that Applecare doesn't cover the battery, it is specifically excluded unless it's defective. That's because Apple considers the battery a consumable item. You can read it under limitations at http://images.apple.com/legal/applecare/docs/AppleCareProtect_Plan_NAen.pdf
Regarding the life, how you maintain the battery has an impact on how many cycles you get out of it. For example, if it's plugged in all the time, your cycle count will be low by the time the battery fails. Apple says that a properly maintained battery should be at 80% capacity after 300 cycles. This is the Apple note on battery maintenance: http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html

    Dear Anuj
Can you please let us know what do you mean by
    - no. of item in error
    - Quantity variance
do you mean to say that quantity rejected as error and quantity variance is planned versus actual despatch ??

  • Load Cycle Count and Hard Drive Life

When I heard about issues with another platforms default power-management settings burning the life out of notebook hardrives, I decided it would be wise to check how my own MacBook Pro was doing. I installed smartctl utilities via Darwin ports and started keeping track to my drive status.
I was shocked to find that the LoadCycleCount as reported by my machine's SMART subsystem was over 500,000 of an expected 600,000 cycles in a harddrive typical life on a system that was just 18 months old of just typical use. Since then I've monitored things and haven't been able to get it to slow down - so that it's now crossed 613,000 after 8032 power-on hours and the macbook is still running - not making any weird drive noises either.
I've been making weekly backups now - but I'd still rather have a planned replacement than get caught in the middle with a downed system. Frankly, I'm bothered by how fast this drive's life has been "used up" by the default settings of OSX. Have people ever gotten a pro-active replacement approve by applecare - I have the extended warranty on my machine - but don't want to void my warranty on the whole machine just to fix this harddrive issue.

    1. Yes.
    2. I have used 254 for years on my HP.  I don't run for extended periods on batteries, and I hate spin down / spin up delays.  I have never had a problem and always use it sitting on my lap, often being set down on and picked up from a desk.  I would not worry about it.

  • Need help regarding Cycle counting

    Hi All,
I need your help regarding cycle counting process in SAP PI. The scenario is as follows,
At present in the legacy system business practice is to count certain number of materials say 100 materials every day. Out of these 100 materials; we keep fixed percentage for the materials to be counted i.e. out of 100 certain percentage will of A material, certain percentage will of B materials like wise.
Also every day we want to generate a list of these 100 materials to be counted (this list can be handed over to inventory person to physically count the material) and  generation of PI documents to subsequently post the count results.
Please note that we will be manually assigning cycle count indicator (A or B or C etc) in the material master.
    Thanks,
    Attarde

from OSS Note 518418 - FAQ: Cycle Counting
    3. Question:
I do not understand the determination of the date of physical inventory in the cycle counting physical inventory. How is the planned date or the date of physical inventory determined in the SAP system?
    Answer:
In principle, the program calculates the planned date of physical inventory according to the following formula:
planned date = base date + Interval (Trans.OMCO/Tab.XT159C-ININV)
Usually, the base date is the 'date of the last physical inventory'. Depending on the type of the stock or the batch management requirement, this date is read from one of the following table fields:
      MARD-DLINL (Normal materials)
MCHB-CHDLL (Batch materials, separately valuated materials)
If no physical inventory has been carried out yet and if this date field is therefore empty, the system uses the creation date of the material as basis date. The basis date then comes from one of the following table fields:
      MSTA-ERSDA (Normal materials)
MCHB-ERSDA (Batch materials, separately valuated materials)
Since the cycle counting physical inventory always runs for the current fiscal year, the earliest possible physical inventory date is the 01.01. and the latest possible physical inventory date is the 31.12 of the current year.
If the date of the physical inventory is a non-working day, the program automatically proposes the next possible workday.

  • Cycle Count Cutover

The company I'm working with has been doing annual "wall-to-wall" Physical Inventory counts. They now want to cutover to Cycle Counting and have 20,000 materials that they manage in inventory. The last count was performed in October of 2006. So the concern is that if they turn on cycle counting, it will create count docs for all materials. They want a way of staggering the docs automatically so that the warehouse is not hit all at once. I mentioned that the problem would be lessened if they rolled out cycle counting right after the next wall-to-wall, but their setup is as follows:
    A is counted monthly
    B is counted bi-monthly
    C is counted semi-annually
So, they would also end up with all of their Cs on the same day (6 months after the last wall-to-wall). They will have to figure out a way to stagger the counts so that they get a manageable daily volume of count documents.  Does anyone have suggestions as to how to cutover in a reasonable way?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Hello Richard,
They can use Flot time functionality which will allow them to create the inventory document within flot time period. for ex. if you are defining flot time as 5 days then still you have chance to do inventory count for due material in 5 days, if dont count in this 5 day then that material/bin will pushed in the next cycle count period.
Now in initial period they need to create inventory document manually as per their capability.
Once they will be on regular basis then they can set batch job for it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cycle Count Process

    Hi Everyone,
We want to implement cycle count process in our ERP system.
    1) Which idoc(I beleive its WVINVE.WVINVE03)  can be used for this process, for sending data from POS (front end in stores) to ERP. Is there any field which can be used to freeze the count in ERP for a particular item ?
    2) How can we freeze the inventory in ERP ? Suppose i want to do cycle count in afternoon when sale is in process, is it possible to freeze the count of  particular item which i want to count? if yes How ?
    3) If i want to send the current count of items from ERP to some other system or our POS system, Which Outbound Idoc can be used ? How can we trigger that Idoc ? Any transation or program...
Please provide me as much insight as you can, as i have no idea about this process and domain.
    Thanks
    Inder

I am not sure about POS integration but if you want to freeze book inventory you need do a small configuration in SAP under Physical Inventory.
IMG/ MM/ IM/ Physical Inventory/ Allow Freezing of Book Inventory (Select all sotrage locations for whcih you are doing Cycle count)
Create PI Documents first with all materials which are sibject to count, and freeze the book inventory on the day you start counting.

  • Triggering Cycle count

    Dear Experts,
Are there options in Standard SAP to trigger automatic cycle count/ physical inventory records when i do picking with differences or put away with differences?
This way say after the worker who picked with differences will move on and do his job, because the system has an inventory record document created, an inventory person can follow up on the document & and go to the location to check the situation of the bin.

  • Cycle count

We do cycle count physical inventory in one storage type in one
Warehouse, every 30 days on around mid of every month and annual count
physical inventory on 31st Dec every year.
But due to annual count done on 31st Dec, old PI dates of bins are
updated as 31st Dec and new PI dates are proposed as 30th Jan.
So the regular cycle count dates are modified. Business does not want
the PI dates so modified due to recent Annual count, rather needs the
old PI dates displayed as per regular cycle count in LX26 run.
Kindly suggest how to restore old PI dates as per cycle count physical
    inventory.

yes you need a custom program for an update.
I never needed to run RLREOLPQ manually, SAP knows when the year is over. This report is probably only needed if you want reset counts within a fiscal year, maybe used when your company is sold in the middle of the year, and the new owner does not accept the already done counts.
