Cycle through key commands?

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to assign a key command but am having a hard time doing so. I'd like to assign the "turn alias into real copy" key command with some modification of the letter "K" as I use "K" for turning loops into real copies, but the key commands window will not show me all uses of K.
For example "Shift-K" is assigned to "select by channel" in my arrange/event editors, but when I type "Shift-K" in my key commands window nothing comes up!
Thus I'm wondering is there an easy way to "cycle" through all the key commands that use K? I'm probably missing something really simple here, but project deadlines have me freaking out so I apologize.

Thanks as usual guys. Man, what a crappy bug, especially when you need to work quickly, the last think you need is frustration coupled with feelings of retardation.
Since I have you guys here, I'd like to ask another question if I may. I'm using multi-recording (i.e. recording enabling multiple tracks) to quickly realize ideas (e.g. recording pizz bass & cello lines at the same time) and when I do it creates one "real copy" and an alias of all other recorded parts. Is it possible to either turn off alias parts so it records all "real" parts, or if thats not possible, to have the alias copies at least keep their track names? As it stands now my cello parts all have "bass" as their names, which gets confusing while using the event editor. Of course I can manually change their names, but I'm looking for time savers here! :=)

Cycle mode key command

Hi. I know this may be trivial but I've been searching everywhere for a key command for toggling cycle mode with no success. Anyone who knows would be so kind to help. Also, is there a list of default key commands anywhere that can be found? I looked for it in the manuals but couldn't find it. Thanks in advance.

Did you customise that yourself, or is it one of the language/region differences?
I've been with Logic since Logic 1.x. I've been known to customise my own key commands plenty (which is the key to a powerful, fast, efficient and bespoke workflow).
They evolve over time, of course. Like how they stopped letting you assign the tab key in LP8. Tab has been my "set rounded locators and play and cycle selection" for fifteen years until LP8... grr...
I set up what makes most sense to me, not what makes most sense to some random guy in Hamburg.
No one else works in Logic the exact same way as me, or uses the same functions in the same way. I set up the things I need to keys that make the most sense. I may constantly use function X and therefore assign to a single key, and never use function Y and so deassign it. You may rely on function Y but never user function X at all. So how can a generic set of key commands work optimally for every persons unique workflow and requirements?

The main problem is often not knowing what something is called, therefore not having the ability to easily search the documentation. That's where other users can give a valuable heads up.
Eg type "key commands" into the search of the manual...

How Do I Customize the Key Combination to Cycle Through Windows in Reverse in all Applications?

How do I customize the key combination to cycle through windows in reverse in all applications? I want to be able to change the global setting for Command+~ (Cmd+Shft+`) to something more desireable. I could NOT find a way to do this in Systems Preference -> Keyboard -> Keyboard Shortcuts since there is not a menu selection "Cycle Through Windows in Reverse". I then went and looked in the plists DBs of Finders resources hoping to find a setting I could override. I was quite supprised, as well as some of the MAC gurus in the office, that there was not an easier way to override cycling through windows in reverse on a MacBook - the most user friendly and accessibility aware computer on the market:)
Here is my MAC software info.
System Version: Mac OS X 10.6.7 (10J869)
Kernel Version: Darwin 10.7.0

I don't know of any way to have a separate commandkey combo for the reverse cycle function.
From the Help pages for OS X 10.6.7 ("Using global keyboard shortcuts") -
NOTE: You can create keyboard shortcuts only for exisiting menu commands.
Since the 'reverse' cycle command is not an existing menu item, creating a separate key combo for it doesn't seem possible. Apparently the 'reverse' cycle command is a fixed one, internally defined as a mod of the normal cycle command invoked by adding Shift to its key combo.
There may be a way to achieve what you want via a two-step process: write an AppleScript that will invoke the 'reverse' key-combo set, then link the activation of the AppleScript to a key combo of your choosing. Not sure if this is even possible, though - usually AppleScript activation via keyboard would be set up via an FKey.
I can understand wanting to share the RSI risk evenly between both hands, or even to unload the left hand if that is desirable. However, apparently a two-key combo can't be done for the reverse cycle function. Is a three-key combo not possible? ...meaning a two-key combo on the right (Command plus something) for normal cycling, adding Shift for reversing?
One caution about changing keyboard command combos - it's very easy to accidentally set up a conflict with a another existing commandkey set. FWIW, most, if not all, of the mnemonic and easily-reached letters are already used. In this vein, the Keyboard Shortcuts page of the Keyboard prefs pane shows such conflicts via a yellow caution triangle next to the conflictors.

Cycle through Safari windows doesn't work - command+~

I recently got a new Mac Pro with the latest Snow Leopard OS and all updates are current. Tried rebooting, running Disk Utility....my problem:
Command + ~ doesn't cycle through open Safari windows anymore. It gets stuck between two and just bounces back and forth between those when I cycling. It used to work fine, and I hate tabs. The shortcut is too clunky. Command+~ is stuck in my brain, but if I have 5+ separate Safari windows open, like I said, it will start to cycle through, but then it just picks two random ones and doesn't cycle to the rest.

I don't know if Swiss French keyboards behave the same as Danish, but on Danish keyboard you can cycle through windows by using cmd-< (which is the key left of z).

How Can I Fast Forward through clips - Any key Command?

I am watching some long clips in my event library ... I want to choose sections to move to the project library.
As the movie plays ... I can use the arrow (left and right) to slow mo forward or backward.
What I need is a key command that will give me a fast forward ... say 2 or 3 times play speed.
The only way I know to fast forward is to use the trackpad with my fingers but this way I keep losing my position on the clips and skip over rows ... you also have to drag back to the beginning of the next row and know where you are ..
To find parts of clips that you want to select and drag up to your project this seems like a necessity especially when viewing a long movie ... it's really tedious to have to drag through the whole thing.
AM I out of luck?

That's my question, Why does pressing the L key twice (to cycle through dimming modes) remove a selected photo from a collection? Is my system the only computer that does this when I follow Adobe's directions to cycle through dimming modes by repeatedly hitting L? If not, how dumb is this?

When i hit a key to type it cycles through every key on the keyboard

If i hit the letter "A" repeatedly it will cycle through every letter, number, and symbol on the keyboard. It does not matter which key I hit this happens. (I am using a diffrent computer to type this)
I have uninstalled and reinstalled
I have changed keyboards before i knew this was a FireFox only issue
Windows 7 64bit
Zone Alarm (Most recent updated last night 04-08-14)
Merc Stealth Keyboard (Most recent Update Today 04-09-14)
I am at a loss and this only happens in FireFox.

I have the exact same problem.
I updated two IBM thinkpads to the new version of ZoneAlarm.
-- One is a Windows 7 64-bit and I have the problem there.
-- I don't have the problem on the 32-bit windows 7 machine.
There are more significant details:
-- The "cycling-through-all-the-characters" when pressing the same key occurs only in Firefox and Chrome text entry fields.
-- It does not happen in Internet explorer or in the Firefox version used in the Tor Browser package.
-- However, in IE, it happens in the search field of Ctrl+F but not in Tor.
-- It does not either occur in any other application (any of the MS Office, Sitcky notes, etc.)

Using command tab for application switcher no long cycles through all apps

Using command tab for application switcher use to work as it always has before Lion, and did in Lion for a few days. Now it stops at the last app. It always use to keep cycling through through all the apps. I figure I did something, but cannot figure out what. I have tried old tricks like force quitting dock using Activity Monitor, but that didnt work. Tried restarting, repairing permissions, and a new user account. I will great appreciate anyones help with this.

I was going to post my experience about application switcher as well, but i have the opposite problem: in SL it never worked, but now in Lion it does. Since I upgraded by installing over Lion, I'm assuming there must be a setting somewhere for this behavior. There is a place for setting keyboard keystrokes, looking there may help.

How do I change the keyboard shortcut for Cycle through open documents in PS CC for Mac?

Sorry to bug the community with such a seemingly inconsequential task, but I am seriously tired of using the awkward default keyboard shortcut for cycling through open docs in PS. I'd like to change it to what I am used in in Chrome, which is Cmd+Option+[left] or {right} arrow keys. I noticed this is not a command listed in the in keyboard shortcuts, for whatever reason. Where on Earth can I change this?
If it is not possible to do it by default, is there a plug-in or a change to the code that will allow this basic functionality?

As far as I know, you can't. It's "hard wired" in. Not even Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts is allowed to change it.
However I did find this tip:
Anyway i never found tabs in Adobe application useful, instead i prefer the old school method: simply switch off tabs feature via illustrator/ preferences/ user interface/ open documents as tabs. Then in Mac preferences panel, under keyboard, just search for the “focus on next application window” field (under menu, keyboard and text) and assign a shortcut if the default option doesn't fit you. And there is now you can easily switch between open documents!.
The best part of this is that it can be used in all mac applications, not only Adobe ones. And remember, if you want this working on Indesign, Photoshop, etc be aware of first switch off the tab features so that the system could “see” multiple documents opened not only one single tabbed document.

Is it possible to cycle through the remote computers applications> (some special key command perhaps) as whenever I do CMD TAB at my end it cycles through my computers applications, not the remote computers applications.

Hello, I face an annoying problem when I work with multiple documents in pages or keynote.
OSX shortcut to flip through open windows within hte same app is command-<
Well, at least in my system, iWork apps don't recognise this and zoom-out instead. It't quite annoying cos I always forget and end up unzooming using command->
Is there a way to change this behaviour?
I don't really need a shortcut for zooming, the window widget for that is enough for me, but i do need a shortcut for cycling thorugh open windows

I believe the command varies depending on the keyboard layout you're using. Here in the US, it ⌘ ` (above the Tab key). I tried searching Mac Help for the info & finally did a search for "windows" & about halfway down the list was the topic "Seeing all your windows at once" about Exposé. The third paragraph (the second below the blue box) has a sentence saying this command works to cycle through windows in an application if Exposé isn't active. I hope you can find the info in your version of Mac Help.

Making it easier to cycle through blend modes

Maybe there is a way to do this that I'm missing. Learning or seeing how all the blend modes work is really tedious. You have to trigger the dropdown, go to the blend mode, click it, then repeat all that to try the next blend mode. Wouldn't it be a lot easier if you could just quickly cycle through the blend modes with a slider or the arrow keys? Is there such a thing? Or maybe a screen of blend mode thumbnails, showing all the blends for a particular overlay at once.

You might need to right-click the link and Save As to download the .mxp correctly. Once installed, you can set keyboard shortcuts to easily cycle forward and back through the blend modes.

Cycle through different "compare" views?

In LR 1.4 it was possible to use different views in the compare mode, i.e. left/right, left/right split, top/bottom, top/bottom split. There was a keyboard shortcut for cycling through the views (which I can't remember).
In LR 2.0 I can't see how to do this. Say I want to compare two images. I command-click on them and hit the C key to go into Compare mode. They appear next to each other. So far, so good. But I am not able to change the Compare view to "top/bottom" or "left/right" split.
Is this still possible? Is there still a keyboard shortcut?

You're mixing things.
These compare options were (and still are) available in the Develop module to compare the Before and After effect. Library's Compare mode never had top/bottom split options.

Cycle Through Pedal Board Presets Keyboard Shortcut?

Hi everyone. I'm trying to find a way to cycle through the pedal board layouts while i'm listening to my track so I can pick how I want it to sound. Any keyboard shortcut for this? Thanks.

If you on GarageBand X and you are talking about stepping throught the Plugin Settings of the Pedal Board Plugin, the Key Command is left bracket [ and right bracket ]

How to change keyboard shortcut for cycle through open tabs in PS and AI CC 2014

I would love to set my own keyboard shortcuts for cycling through open tabs in PS and AI 2014 on OS X. I found out that this can be achieved with ctrl+tab in PS, but I couldn't manage to make any of the suggestions in the forum work for AI. As said, I would like to set a more "standard" shortcut like alt+cmd+arrow-keys for both of the apps. If that shouldn't be possible, does anyone know a shortcut in AI CC 2014?

cmd+~ is not an option for me, I guess, since the swiss/german keyboard layout has no dedicated tilde key.
So, I have a working shortcut in PS (ctrl+tab / of which I still don't know how to change, if possible at all) and thanks to you, I can now set one in AI as well. Unfortunately, I can not set it to be identical as in PS, since the "cmd" key needs to be included in AI's shortcut assignment dialogue, but I guess, this is as good as it gets.
