My MacBook Pro ,model # A1297 2009 I don't have a wifi icon on the bar , so no internet please help me.
In order to be able to find the correct solution to your problem, we require some more non-personal information from you. Please do the following:
*Click the Firefox button at the top left, then click the ''Help'' menu and select ''Troubleshooting Information'' from the submenu. If you don't have a Firefox button, click the Help menu at the top and select ''Troubleshooting Information'' from the menu.
Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
*At the top of the page, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.

I5 still using ios6 as of last night the phone will not connect to my Internet, in settings it says connected with the check mark however there is no wifi icon at the top of phone, have done everything possible to resolve... "X" in the wifi icon of the toolbar
Similar to "exclamation" mark that others have seen in the wifi icon in the toolbar, I am getting an "X" within wifi icon and cannot add wifi in settings. Has anyone had this issue that can help?
I am running a mid-year 2011 MacBook Air with 1.7 Intel Core i5 / 4GB ram / 128GB of storage.Back up all data before proceeding.
Open the Network pane in System Preferences. A list of available network services appears on the left. If Wi-Fi is in the list, select it, then from the popup menu labeled with a gear icon at the bottom of the list, select
Make Service Active
Click Apply.
If Wi-Fi is not in the service list, click the plus-sign button at the bottom of the list, and then select Wi-Fi from the Interface menu in the sheet that drops down. Click Create, then Apply.
If there is a closed padlock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane, click it and enter your administrator password to unlock the settings.
If the above steps don't solve the problem, continue.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

I have iPhone 4s, after i updated my software to 7.0.4 my wifi stopped working. The wifi icon at the top is gone. Its annoying that i have to us my data all the time. I've tried the network reset, it didn't work. My phone works fine, just a lilttle bit slow before i upadated to 7.0.4. And now not only the wifi, the phone itself is slower than ever. I wish i didn't udgrade to iOs 7. There's too much problems. There's this one time that I can't send iMessage at all.

I'm afraid that unless you are able to contact the previous owner and have him wipe the device, or provide you with his Apple ID password so you can delete the iCloud account, you are out of luck.
With iOS 7, an Activiation Lock was added to deter thieves. This lock prevents anyone but the owner of the device from deleting the iCloud account and restoring the device:

Unless you are able to reach the original owner and get the device wiped or the iCloud account deleted, you are stuck with a brick.

The wifi-icon on the topbar is gone.
I'm still connected to the internet. Also I can click on it, but the icon isn't visible. I have already tried to put on and off the setting in the network preferences. Also in menu extras tried to put it back...
Go to System Preferences & remove the check to show the WiFi icon in the menu bar. Now, launch Terminal from your Utilities folder & copy/paste the following:
killall SystemUIServer
Hit Enter, the re-boot your computer, go back into System Preferences & put the check back in the box to show WiFi icon in menu bar. Does it now show up? -

Since about 2 weeks ago for no apparent reason, the internet on my iPad suddenly stopped working (when I open Safari, it says: "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the Internet"), even though the Wifi icon in the top left corner still shows full signal. However, I noticed when I went into Wifi settings (Settings>Wifi) that there is no checkmark next to my network name (only the spinning circle icon, as if it's trying to process something). This only happens at home (I can browse the internet while connected to Wifi at university). My other Apple devices (MacBook Pro and iPhone 4S) work perfectly fine at home.
I've tried resetting my router, restarting my iPad, resetting Network Settings on my iPad, and tried following Hynes' instructions on this thread:https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2453187?start=15&tstart=0, but nothing has worked so far (although I have to admit that I found the instructions on that thread somewhat confusing, so there is a chance that I accidentally did not follow them properly).
Could someone please help? It'd be VERY much appreciated. -
WiFi icon in status bar disappeared
Hi, two days ago the wifi icon in the status bar just disappeared. I can connect to wifi networks as usual, but no wifi icon is visible anymore. Could this be due to having installed the Accuweather app? This app has a temperature notification in the status bar. However, the wifi icon does not come back even when I switch off Accuweather notifications... I tried rebooting etc, but nothing seems to work. Bizarre.

How do I delete old wifi networks from appearing in the wifi icon in the menu bar.
Just bought a new Airport Time Capsule and is up and running OK.
When I click on the wifi icon in the menu bar all my old wifi networks appear
which are then viewable by neighbours although the networks themselves are PW protected.
In system preferences>network>advanced I have deleted all my old N/Works allowing only
my new one to appear.
How can I delete the old networks I no longer use from re-appearing in the list under the wifi icon?
AlanWhen you delete old networks in System Preferences > Network > WiFi > Advanced, be sure to click the OK button, then click the Apply button in the next window that appears.
You also need to delete the old networks in KeyChain Access as follows:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > KeyChain Access
Click on the name of an old wireless network to highlight it
Click the Delete key on your Mac
Do the same for other old wireless networks that you no longer use, then restart your Mac. -
When my wife's Mac Book Pro was being updated to the latest version of OS X the laptop locked up at a grey screen with the Apple icon and status bar. Is there any way to recover the data and complete the install? I have not tried anything yet because of the data issue. I am not sure which OS X version as I did not install the software.

Wifi icon in menu bar dimmed with and "x" over icon
Macbook Air 11-inch, mid 2013, OS X Yosemite, all software is up to date. My wifi icon appears as dimmed in the menu bar with an "x" over it. I have used network assisrant, diadnostics, fallowed all instructions properly as promted to do so. How do I enable wifi?

And if so, it looks like you were dumb enough to put in the included CD! Don't! Those CD's are for the Windows Users!
Look what happened! It now installed the SmartPannel that is very un-fun to remove. Lucky for you, I re-looked up for you how to do it....as when I first got my mac, I too was dumb enough to put in that disk and got frustrated when I couldn't make the icon go away.
so . . . in:
~library/printers/SmartPanel
there is a script called iLaunchSP....Trash it!
Reboot!
It will be gone! -
Please advise what might be wrong with my WIFI connection and the app store!
When trying to download apps via the apple app store, it will take ages to pop up with the password box, and then will just time out eventually after giving the me "waiting" icon.
When I disable wifi and connect over 3g the apps will download fine. It cant be anything wrong with the internet connection because my work iphone connects fine and downloads apps without problems (albeit on a diffrent ios version - mine is latest), this phone also goes through the same router.
I've tried forgetting the network AND resetting the network settings i've even restored the entire phone via itunes to factory settings but to no avail - does anyone have any ideas at all - as i'm pulling my hair out!!
P.S - One other thing to add is: once the app has been downloaded with 3g it will work flawlessly with the wifi connection on the phone, its purely just a download issue with the app store!!Hi there alpilter,

I tried to update my phone. The update didnt go all the way through, and ended up freezing the screen on my iphone with an itunes icon on it. I tried to reboot phone with no success...the icon stays on there with no other function of the phone available. Anybody know of a fix?
Put your iphone in dfu mode by doing this. Turn your iphone off. When its off, hold home and power button together for exactly 10 seconds, then release the power button and keep holding home button for another 10 seconds. Then open up itunes on your pc and plug your iphone to your pc. Itunes should recognize your iphone in recovery mode and it will tell you to restore it. Click restore, and your iphone will restore. Remember that, if you do this you will lose everything that was on your iphone. You can restore from backup later on. Hope I helped. Hello! I currently updated my machine (MBP middle 2010) to Mavericks and I'm confronted to a problem. It is not a big deal as my mac is working fine but it's bugging me. The wifi icon in my menu bar is always showing an exclamation point on it even though it's actually connected to the internet.
Do you know how to resolve this issue ? Thank you !There is no menu extra supplied for that. There are third-party utilities such as Classic Menu, XMenu, MoofMenu, Claw, etc. Look for these at CNet Downloads or MacUpdate.

I tried to update my iPhone 4 with the new Apple iOS7. Now my phone is locked with an iTunes icon and my recharger icon. I can't turn it on or get into anything. I can't even receive calls on my phone. HELP!
Same thing happend to my Girlfriend, you will have to connect to the computer and snyc with iTunes. Make sure you update your iTunes software. we had to click on "Restore iphone...". phone updated and she lost everything on phone , we then tried to get everything back and only thing we got was her apps . Good luck hope everything turns out better then us. .
