D-Braket is not helping! mobo keeps locking up in Post. no video
Ok.....where to start.....?
Well I built another PC and this one was for my brother in Florida.
First off I had to ship it via FedEx Ground . well it took a solid week to get there from Oklahoma (USA).
When it arrived he said the box was in good condition, and the PC case looked fine also.
So my Bro hooked it up and tried to boot it, the fans were coming on and the HDDs spun up, but no video.
Well he finally called me after, he had his buddy looked at the Box (PC)<= No Luck <-..
OK so I talked to him and told him to check the "D-Bracket" for any codes. \---- they are noobs....
OK now to the problems
So my Bro & the pro <-- checked the code, they said it had a "1,4" ("X,X" - X=Green led)
Ok so I checked the code and it looked like he was having a Video issue. So he changed out the Card a few times, once with a PCI GPU & a ATI all in1 AGP (96 or 9800...?) --- No luck there
So I had him pull the CPU out and re-seat it, That got it passed the "D-B" error
Ok so he puts the HS&F back on, reboots it and the D-Bracket goes to All Green
OK well now that my brother sees some life (Video) come out of the Box he wants to take it home and slam Winders on it.
So i had a feeling he needed to check a few things in the bios wile he had a novice PC guy around. Turns out his CPU Temp was at like 77~81C
so i had it turn off the box and look at the HS&F......., well thay noticed one of the clips on the Retention bracket had been bracket off....(maybe by the noobs or maybe by FedEx... )
So we get the dumb ideal to use Zip Ties <----- to hold the HS&F down, in a not so professional way. I got to say it work pretty good for some zip ties and a noob. We got the temp down to a nice 39C @ idle & 47 w/ load.
So he finally got to load Windows on it. The mobo took windows like a Champ! He ran the PC like this for about a week or so, with no major problems.
Well today he call and said he bought a new Retention bracket. He put in on and now the mobo won't boot.
Ok so we try the old Take the CPU out & put in back in Trick. <-- nope that did not work
Next we move the memory around from slot to slot.....nothing same "1,4" code
Then the Video card comes out along with the HDDs & CDROM, we reset the bios also on this step. <---no luck (Same 1,4)
Ok so I had him swap PSUs still no good.
Man I tried all the Tricks, to get it past that D-B code. ...........
So for some dumb reason i ask if the lights on the D-Bracket were changing before it gets to the 1,4 code or if it just jumps strait to it....He said it just jumps Strait to that code 1,4
Now I thought the D-B should show the mobo going thro the Steps (codes) before it holts or lock up on one....?
Can any of you "Post" Pros think of a reason the mobo would be jumping strait to the 1,4 code, w/o going thro the "Post" steps?

Ok Guys Its been a Wile I know. I normally don't bump old posts, but this is Related to the Same Issue and the Same computer.
History... MSI Fixed the board at no charge.. Yes its the same board and they did a great job on the repair. (I love the guys at MSI)
The system has been working Great since the new board. Not one problem. I did take you previous advice and Replace the PSU. its now got a Beefy Enermax in it.
So My brother went and bought a new video card from newegg (MSI NX7600GS-TD256) as advised. So he calls me up and was ready to install it. So I remoted in and uninstalled the Drivers/software for the old ATI allinwonder (98 or 9600), I also uninstall it from the device manager and then shutdown the system.
After I shutdown the computer and he installed the new card with me on the phone, Things looked good and sounded like they went great. So he fires it up and guess what he gets the same old error code. The D-bracket is jumping straight to the old (1=G 2=R 3=R 4=G) code or better yet the:
"BIOS Sign On
- This will start showing information about logo, processor brand name, etc..."
Ok so now we are getting that error code every time we turn the power on.
I (with my brothers noob hands but good ears) have tried Resetting the BIOS, bare boning the system, Tried the old Card,... Reseated the CPU, Memory & Video Card.
I have tried most of my tricks to get the thing to pass that code or at least get a different one. We even took the battery out for about an hour with no luck.
Let me know what you guys think. and if you know any other tricks or tactics that I don't.
And for the Mods...I know this is an OLD post but I thought all the old info would help, especially because its the same error code. and If you want to move or delete or even have me make a new post, then go ahead and do your thing and let me know thanks.

Usual way of software update does not help.
Keeps saying you have the latest update .To get beyond 10.7.5, you must go to the App Store and purchase an upgrade.

I'm losing my patience here. I have a 2.16 Ghz Intel Macbook Pro (circa 2006), and it keeps locking up:
- When using Safari
- When it wakes from sleep
- When using iTunes
I just get the spinning beach ball, and the only way unlock it is to hold the power button. Now, most of the time, even when I do that I just get the folder with the ?, and I have to try this about 20 times before it will restart, and then it will lock again. I should mention that I run it on wireless, connected to an AirPort Express.
I've tried:
- Removing the battery and holding the power button so it resets
- A full erase and install of Snow Leopard
- An extended hardware test with the original DVDs, which said everything is ok
- Ran Disk Verify and Repair Permissions, and they are both ok
I'm not sure, but I think the problem started when I upgraded the hard drive from stock 120G to 320G, although it's certainly gotten much much worse lately. At first I had a Seagate 320G drive, and when it started to crash I replaced that one with a more expensive Hitachi 320G, both 5400 RPM. But that is crashing too, less in the beginning, very frequently now. I would put the original disk back in, but I have about 200G of music etc on the drive so that wouldn't work.
Any ideas here? If the wireless card were bad, wouldn't that show up on the hardware test? Thanks.These actions you list:

all involve the computer checking for an internet connection. The first thing I'd try would be to turn off the Airport card and do a direct connection to your modem with a length of Cat5 cable. If the problems goes away, that limits the issue to the router or the Airport card. If the problem stays, simply eliminating those two bits of kit goes a long way toward narrowing the suspect list.
Have you tested with another browser (like Camino) to see if the problem persists?
Have you checked function from another user account?
Both are good diagnostic steps that don't require tearing into the computer (yet). -
Help - M1522nf keeps locking up
So over the last few weeks I've noticed that when I go to send something to print, it doesn't print unless I power the printer down (HP M1522nf) and then turn it back on.
Yesterday while doing this, I noticed that the clock on the display was frozen at 2:34am. It was ~4:00 in the afternoon.
It seems the printer itself just locks up. I have the automatic driver update run and it says its up to date. I'm running Windows 7 and printing to the printer over ethernet.
Any ideas?Alright well whatever it was - it got worse. The printer is totally dead now. Flip the power switch, I hear the internals cycle for ~5-10 seconds... and then nothing. The display doesn't light up, none of the buttons do anything, nothing.
Frustrating. This is the 2nd M1522nf I've had - the first one arrived DOA right out of the box. Had to return it for a 2nd one - and this one barely lasted a year.
I tell ya, I don't know what happened to HP, but the last time I had a reliable HP printer was my old Deskjet 500C. I have a few friends who work for HP out of the Seattle area - they refuse to buy HP even with their discount. That should've told me something right there. I would've figured a business-class printer like an all-in-one laserjet would've been a solid product.
Now it's headed to the trash. My previous printer (prior to the M1522nf) was a Samsung (a CLP-510) and it lasted 5-6 years and it's still kicking - just needs new toner. I figured it'd be cheaper to just buy a new printer ($400 for printer vs. $450 for toner) - now I'm out double. -

Itunes error 2 when launching and i tried WinRAR as suggested but it did not help
i am using windows7 and i have uninstalled and installed ITunes about 8 times and i get the same result every time, there was a solution that was recomended to me-to use WinRAR and install the standalone version of apple Application Support and Apple Device Support-but it did not help. i keep getting the same message. is there anything i can do?
Open Sysem Preferences from your Apple () menu top left in your screen then select the Firewall tab.
Make sure the Firewall is turned off. -
Since upgrading to Lion OS 10.7.1, the wifi connectivity keeps blocking up intermittently and we need to manually keep switching on and off the wifi utility to get the connection back. even locking the preferred wifi network in system preferences does not help. This never used to happen with Snow Leopard
This is a big thank you to Rys Sinnefeldt who posted this fix.
Rys has made this fix very easy to do and takes literally 2 mins. It involves replacing the Atheros Lion driver 4.0 and replacing it with the snow leopard driver. Don't worry, Rys has made this so simple to do even I could do it and so far I have had no more wifi drops.

My grandsons new Apple refurbed 35g ipad keeps locking up with a black screen amd nothing else. I have reset it many times pressing the home and off buttons together but it keeps locking up. Help,please!
Thank you for trying to help. I followed your instructions, it took 6 hours to download, and then said it could not solve the problem (something to do with error 9?). It will have to go back to Apple - its only 3 days since it came out of the package and its very disappointing for him. Looks like I have to hang around in the Apple store in Plymouth all tomorrow until they can fix it, or will change it. Thanks for your help.

In iTunes I click on a song and when I click on the "get info" tab, it opens up but everything is gray - locked, therefore, I cannot edit the year or genre of the songs. Not every song is locked, only certain ones for some reason. Any help?
I ran into the same problem, I think that, If you tab on a song that is on your IPOD, and the song data is grayed-out, I think it means that the song is probably twice on your IPOD and that the iTunes directory can not edit THAT song data for two (or more) files @once. Check if this is the case, sinceI have the same problem,am looking for a way to have One and the same song in more playlists but only keep the song once on the IPOD.

My iPad keeps locking itself every few seconds, any ideas how to fix it... Drives me crazy as the screen keeps going blank and I have to constantly put in my pass code every few seconds. Can someone help me out please. The pass code lock is set at 10 minutes but it's happening every few seconds :(
I've run into the issue and it seems to be related to an app not fully supporting the iOS you're on, the reboot doesn't usually solve it.
I've solved it in the following manner(s):
1) Backup the device to iCloud, then erase the iPad (Content and Network Settings).
2) Setup the iPad and choose to restore from iTunes/iCloud Backup (wherever you backed it up)
3) Perform any software updates
I have not tried simply performing the software updates (which may fix it, but if it doesn't you won't be able to perform the above steps).

I tried to update my iPad to latest ios and it is now asking me for a password...4 digits. I never had a password on it and it is too short to be my apple password. Help anyone? It keeps locking me out as I try different passwords.
FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTunes and plug (very important)
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...

6163bx Keeps locking up...HELP!!
Ok I have got an 6163BX board. (yes I know it is old)
I need some help please. It keeps locking up on me. I run XP so I checked the error logs and all there is, is an error that states:

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

The search function in the itunes store does not work. It will accept a request and suggest searches but then it locks up and will not search. Clicking on the magnifying glass or a suggested search does nothing. Re-installing itunes has not helped.
