D10 bios, No ahci option??

Simply put, I have no ahci option in the bios. Only compatible mode and enhanced (non-ahci) mode. I have a drive installed that test at around 135MB/s with ahci enabled and Intel matrix installed on the previous system it was in. Installed in the d10 I get just shy of 90MB/s, which is about the speed I go when this drive was used without ahci & intel matrix installed before. Information on the motherboard is sparse. The manual breifly covers only a few options in the bios. Any help, PLEASE.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

I actually found the solution. Ahci will only be visible and available with raid disabled on the intel controller. No ahci option at all on the lsi controller, but i havent seen much variance in single drive performance between the two.

    Hi,
I have ver 1.6 bios on the K9N6PGM-FI mobo (MS-7309) which does not seem to have the AHCI option for sata. After installing a Samsung 830 128GB ssd cache/temp file disk (for photoediting), connected through sata II, I ran Samsung's Magician software, which suggests activating AHCI would give better performance. Does anybody know if the latest ver 1.C bios for this 'old' board has the AHCI option?

  • P43 Neo-f: Bios has no option to enable AHCI

    Hi!
I just bought a P43 Neo-f and wondered whether there is any way to turn on AHCI with it. In the BIOS section "On-Chip ATA Devices" there is an option "Raid Mode" which, according to the manual, can be set to AHCI. But instead of giving me this option I cannot choose anything but "IDE" here. Is this true for everybody with this mainboard or is mine defective?
Is there any other way to turn AHCI on?
I want to try this as my SATA HDD and DVD-burner are not recognised as existing at all in Ubuntu 8.04 and I read that AHCI sometimes helps with SATA drives in Linux. Other approaches would be appreciated as well.

At first I want to thank you for your answers!
@AaronYuri: I tried that already and it does not work... actually I think this just cycles through the different entries otherwise available as that selection pulldown menu when pressing the Return key. And as there is no such entry it does not work with +/- either.
@Jack the Newbie: hmm... this is odd... maybe Intel forgot to add it to that website as
    http://global.msi.eu/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=1484&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=170
    clearly states:
    • Intel® ICH10 Chipset
    - Integrated AHCI controller.
or do I get something wrong there?
And finally some googled sources (of which I do not know the credibility) also say ICH10 has AHCI, e.g.
    http://xtreview.com/addcomment-id-3747-view-Intel-ICH10.html
So I am not sure... I am writing to MSI Online Customer Support to find that out now!

  • AHCI option isn't available in bios

HP 630 AHCI mode isn't available in BIOS

    Hi:
AHCI is set by default in your BIOS.  It cannot be changed.
You can see this by going to the device manager, click to expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers section and you will see the name of the Intel SATA AHCI controller listed there.

    Hi,
On Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate, I was just able to switch it to AHCI this morning.
    I found this:

I just downloaded that .msi, and ran it on my Win7, and it found new drivers.  Then I shut the machine down, and went into BIOS and changed the setting from "IDE" to "AHCI", and then it rebooted and that was all.
As I posted on that MS Answers thread, I also had to install a hot swap utility, and after that I could hotswap the two SATA drives that I have in some trayless SATA docks.
Now, I'm trying to figure out how to switch Windows 2003 to AHCI.  That seems to be more involved :(...

  • Ideacenter and H520 Bios terrible boot options

So we implamented about 10 ideacenters and a few h520 towers into our office.  Come to find out the BIOS on these systems is absolutly terrible.  There is no way to boot off the CD drive or a USB drive.  We have one system right now with a password on it and I cant even boot of a disk or USB drive to wipe the password.  Any options for these things?  Why would lenovo put such a terrible BIOS on their PCs?

    Hi
    1) As per my uderstanding unit loads to Bios from F9 if correct go to System configaration Boot Options then set the USB to first.
    2) You can also try F8 option and check if unit loads to safe mode option.
    3) Remove any devices connected to the notebook.  Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook.
Then tap the F10 key to check if unit loads to Bios follow step 1
Let us know how it goes!

  • When BIOS with voltage options above 1.6V??

When are MSI going to release a BIOS that supports more voltage options above 1.6V? My 2.6C will not go about 3133 stable with 1.6V but I dont want to jump all the way to 1.7V!
I know im not the only one who is waiting for this feature.
If you would also like it please reply so MSI can see the demand.

jaeger66 Is RIGHT! 1.6 Should Be PLENTY! If you are not STABLE at 1.6 then your proc just doesent have the HEADROOM or ITS NOT THE PROC. THAT IS MAKING YOUR SYSTEM UNSTABLE! I would look at MEMORY TIMINGS or a BAD MODULE. I am running a NORTWOOD-B 533 3.06, and at 3.420 I am stable at 1.5750! And these NORTHY-B's OVER 2.8 DONT CLOCK FOR BEANS. Dont get me wrong I NEVER KEEP IT THERE! Just to run BENCHMARKS. Otherwise I stay at 140FSB which is 3.220 for me at 1.375! and im ROCK STABLE! I dont think you want to go over 1.6 for long periods with AIR COOLING, And I dont care WHAT KIND OF HEATSINK-FAN COMBO. Unless you have a water block or phase change YOUR P-4 WILL LAST ONLY A YEAR AT MOST..Sean REILLY875    PS. Check your power supply, THAT IS WHERE 85% OF PROBLEMS ARE!!

  • T400 BIOS without iAMT option

Hi, I have a T400 with BIOS version 1.13 with no iAMT option. I have another T400 with iAMT option and BIOS version is 1.18. Can I convert my BIOS 1.13 to 1.18 to show iAMT? Or is this hardware control and upgrading the BIOS will kill the T400 with BIOS 1.13? Pls advise.

There might just not yet be the need to launch a whole warranty case  in my opinion. The link you refer to is only usable if you have a fully functioning bios. Your case is special. You're facing a corrupt bios.
May I ask you if you get to see the initial boot screen (typical white Thinkpad & intel logo on a black background)?

  • RAID is not an option/not available/missing in BIOS Storage Options?? HP Envy 700-047c

Hello - I have an HP Envy 700-047c. It came with a 2 TB HD. I put in another 2 TB HD same model/type. The system in the BIOS and Windows 8 sees the new drive. However, when I boot and go into F10 BIOS/HP Setup utility, go to Storage menu, select Storage Options, my only option is SATA Emulation and the only 2 select options it shows are AHCI and IDE. This is where I should see RAID option - it is not there.
I tried changing SATA ports on the motherboard - no help.
I tried disabling Secure Boot and UEFI and chose Legacy - no help.
I updated to latest BIOS for this PC - no help.
I installed Intel Rapid Storage Technology software and can see the 2 drives within Windows but there is no create option on the Status page like there should be (because you need to enable RAID in the BIOS which the option is missing).
I looked on the motherboard and don't see any jumpers that are labeled RAID (ie. some physical trip).
I called Intel and they confirmed the Intel chipset I have is RAID capable but to contact HP to see if they turned off. I contacted HP and twice they said they are not trained in RAID and do not support it. I contacted the local Microcenter tech support and they found a link on this website talking about how to go to the area I'm in - but the RAID option is not there.
Does anyone know how to get RAID enabled on this HP 700-047c in the BIOS/Setup utility? Help!

UPDATE BY ORIGINAL POSTER TO BELOW - The below is not accurate about RAID being disabled on "All" HP home line computers per research from Big_Dave (Thanks!) - It is what I was told by the HP Escalation Team Friday however - not just my MB but all - which we are seeing is not correct per the customizable Envy model in the following post. It may just be certain models or just my current model's MB...?? I struck thru some of the detail, but leaving it mostly intact so others can see the misinformation I was given.
Thanks for passing along. Below is what I found out about how RAID is disabled by HP now.
I also had an email going back and forth with HP support and they sent to HP Escalation team who I ended up talking with yesterday who researched it for a day and found out that HP has disabled RAID on the motherboard for all of their home PC line! As we were thinking above. Only servers can do RAID now is the word.  Hard to believe they'd do that. The rep said he believed it had to do with people calling HP when they lost data due to setting up using RAID 0 and thinking that protected them (all it does is make a big disk, no redundancy like RAID 1).
To me that is no reason to turn off a feature of the Intel chipset. They also don't make this clear to any HP employee as no one I've talked to (3 now along with chat and email) knew that HP is crippling the capabilities of the MB and chipset. I even have a several year old HP Pavilion that has RAID enabled on it under my desk and has saved me twice from disk failure (running RAID 1 mirroring).
I'm pretty disappointed with HP decision to do this and that it's poorly recorded (in fact not recorded at all)  it so that I wasted hours upon days trying to figure it out with tech support people. If HP wants to remove a much needed service such as RAID it should be mandatory for them to disclaim that right in the Specfications sheet. RAID IS DISABLED AND CANNOT BE TURNED ON ON ANY HP HOME CONSUMER COMPUTER.
Note: I even called AMI (American Megatrend, Inc.) with HP on the line who said they sold the MB to HP fully capable of RAID which is what led the escalation rep to research to whomever he talked to and found out HP is disabling it out the door to their unaware consumers.
I also asked if HP tech team disabled it, would they be willing to send me a BIOS flash to re-enable it - ie. make that an option for those who are knowledgeable about RAID and can setup. The response was they probably won't. I pressed a little but didn't get anywhere - seems like a reasonable request to me/option to keep people happy.
Luckily I'm within my return window and will be taking this computer back. Sad considering how much time I've put into it thinking I had a computer capable to do what I need.
Anyway - please help spread the word so HP can get this into their knowledge DB and boards that RAID is GONE - removed purposefully by HP.

AHCI/IDE is not an issue in this, Windows7 supports both.
The shutdown must have some other reason.
Vista was working beautifully on this machine. It has to be some driver /BIOS issue. Can however someone send me the modified BIOS, just to make sure. I would be very thankful.
Also, might be I need to preload some drivers for Windows7 to be able to finish smoothly? If so - were I can get the chipset drivers for Win7/Vista?
I still assume that as the original poster disappeared after he got the modified BIOS, his problem was solved with that.
Would be very thankful for any help.

  • Unable to Enable Intel VT-x Via BIOS Setup: (Option no-longer Available?)

I have been using VMWare Workstation (V9.0.4) with my present motherboard for about 1 year.  For no apparent reason, I can no-longer do so, because "Intel VT-x" is not enabled.  When I enter the BIOS setup, the option that used to be there to enable "Intel VT-x" is no-longer present.  I am wondering if the latest BOIS Version (H.90) is the culprit?    If it is, is there a way to "roll back" to the previous BIOS version?
Motherboard BIOS Version: H.90 (Motherboard:  X79A-GD45 Plus).  Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

@Svet:  I checked and have (embarrassingly) found the problem.  I was unable to scroll down in the BIOS settings menu for Overclocking, and therefore could not "see" the option I was looking for.  I adjusted the sensitivity of my mouse(?) and all of a sudden all is well.  I found the option concerned and enabled it (how it had become disabled after nearly 1 year, I do not know) and all is now as it has been for a year.  Weird!
Many thanks for your willingness to assist, and sorry for wasting your time.  Cheers.
