D3 export versions as JPG to folder--random images fail to export

When trying to export a folder of versions as full-size jpgs (to a holding folder for burning on a DVD), I will get a random number of failures. For example, the export will complete and then list 48 of 218 that didn't export. The number of bad exports appears to vary and no particular image is affected. I have some success individually exporting the ones that failed, but this is a pain and isn't really an acceptable workflow option.
I don't have any export problems with D2x or D2Hs files.
Any ideas? I'm using Tiger and Aperture 2.01.
Thanks,
Gordon

Interesting.
This isn't the first D3 issue I have come across...
See this thread here and let me know if you are having this issue as well:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1400823&tstart=0
I was using 10.4.11 with AP2 for about 3 days and never had any problems exporting. I wasn't able to really exercise the program though either. Though I guess I wasn't exporting that much anyway because all the D3 images looked bad.
I would say it is definitely something to do with 10.4 and AP2 with D3 files.
Submit some feedback to the black hole...

  • When opening a folder with "items as icons" view, a millisecond fast random image appears in place

    Hi,
    since I updated to Yosemite (but cannot assure it's related or started exactly that moment) I've been experienced a weird issue.
    When I open a folder to navigate it, and it's set on "show items as icons", I see all the icons, for just less than a second, replaced by random images.
    It's like if while the proper folder/file icon it's loading, that space is temporarily occupied by the impression of another one (or parts of it), coming from my computer. Sometimes is a photo, sometimes another folder icon not related, sometime is the icon of a software.
    The picture then goes away (it stays less than a second) and the icon for the file/folder is then the appropriate one.
    I have a Macbook Pro 15-inc, mid 2010.
    Is it a known issue? If yes, how can I solve, if possible, this?
    Hope can be helpful to others too.
    Many Thanks

    First off, I do not recommend looking at your time machine while it is running.  You can tell if it is running by making sure its menubar icon is shown in Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Time Machine.  If the icon is moving, it is running.   You can manually backup, which I recommend over automatic backup, as automatic backup can get in your way.   Spotlight, if it is indexing (check the menu in the upper right that looks like a magnifying glass), will also slow matters down, and adding things you don't want Spotlight to search to your Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Spotlight -> Privacy pane will help.  Note this affects areas you can search in Time Machine as well.  If searching content of files is of little interest to you, I find Find Any File much quicker for finding by file name.   Backup when you aren't doing anything else, as otherwise, you may find yourself backing up files that haven't had the opportunity to close.
      Time Machine also works best if your destination drive is at least twice as capacious as your source drive.   Otherwise it is spending a lot of time trying to find places for the archived files, and barely is more archival than a simple clone.

  • How to move a version to a new folder in Aperture 3?

    Just getting used to Aperture 3.  Having made a version of a master image and adjusted it, I want to move only that version to a new folder called "portfolio".  Currently the master and all versions associated with it move to the portfolio folder.  It doesn't appear to matter whether the versions are stacked or not.  How can I move (or copy) only one image/version?

    You need a better understanding of the parts.  This concise guide may help -- but you'll leap forward if you read through the first seven chapters of the User Manual, which lay a solid foundation on which you can build both your understanding and your Library.
    The short answer:  use Albums for such things as "Portfolio" (and other groupings of your images other than by "shoot").  Use Album Picks to designate the Version in a Version Stack that you wish to be the primary Image of that Stack in that Album.  Use the Filter parameter "Stack Picks Only" to include only those Images in a container which are either Stack picks or single, not-stacked, Images.
    This system is complex, but extremely useful once you get used to it.

  • Hello from a new member and help with random images on refresh

    Hi All,
    I've just joined the forum. In fact I've really only just started to use Dreamweaver. I've covered a lot of ground in the last few weeks and
    have manage to set up a basic site using CSS for layout but now I've hit my first problem.
    On the index page of the site - http://www.hcadesign.co.uk/ there is a large main image which I would like to change each time someone
    visits the site or hits refresh. I've hunted around and found lots of scripts, all using java, that seem to do just this but I'm not having any
    luck getting them to work.

    I've highlighted where the image to be rotated is in red.
    The scripts I've found have generally involved putting something in the <head>, something where the image is to be (but I wasn't sure if it should be
    within the div tag or after img src or what?) and also a seperate *.js file stored in the root directory.
    Anyway I'm not getting anywhere and need some help as I really don't know what I'm doing with javascript.

    Hi and Welcome to the DW Forums.
    For the sake of clarity, Java is not the same thing as JavaScript. 2 entirely different programming languages.
    Copy and paste the following code into a new, blank HTML page.
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

    index = Math.floor(Math.random() * images.length);
    document.write(images[index]);
    //done

  • Pull random images from iPhoto library folders

    I'm trying to come up with a script to pull random images from my iPhoto library and copy them to another folder that I can then use with another program (GeekTool) to display them on my desktop.
    What I'd like to be able to do is pull 30-50 of these images at a time. I can use GeekTool to call the script at a given interval (eg. every half hour) and have a completely different set of images everytime the script is run.
    I'm a complete obliviot when it comes to applescripting, so I'm at the mercy of the experts. I've managed to find a couple of scripts that can do something similar with the screensaver, but I'm unable to figure out the script enough to make it do what I need.
    Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    You should post your question on the iPhoto forum.

    Make sure you post your question in the appropriate iPhoto forum based on which version of iPhoto you have (4, 5 or 6).

  • JMF Compiling video from a folder of images

    Hello,
    I am trying to create a video from a folder of images. I am using a modified version of the JPEGImagesToMovie.java code.
    The video is not compiling correctly and when I playback it is only showing a blurred image of the final frame.
    Any ideas?

    If your code was an SSCCE*, I could run it
    against some images that I have successfully
    used to create MOV's (using my own variant of
    JPEGImagesToMovie).
    It isn't, so I can't.
    The only thing I can suggest (off the top of
    my head) is that the images need to be all
    the same size/width, and the same as

  • PHP random image

    Hello everyone,
    Im trying to use (for the first time) random images generated
    by PHP. I
    installed a Technorama extension and then followed thru the
    steps to place a
    random image in the page, but there is nothing there when I
    browse the page.
    Please forgive my ignorance, but I have never done any php
    stuff before.
    And yes, the files are uploaded to my server. (which does
    have php enabled).
    The practice page I am using is
    www.fionahayward.com/interiordesign/practice.php
    I have the effect working with javascript on this page
    www.fionahayward.com/interiordesign but am trying to use php
    incase people
    have javascript turned off.
    Maybe its something to do with how Ive set up Server
    Behaviours or something
    (only guessing)
    Thanks for listening
    Fiona

    1) create a php file named rotate.php in the folder where the
    images are.
    2) paste this code (between the [code ] and [/code]
    markers... into that file and save it.
    [code]
    <?php
    $folder = '.';
    $extList = array();
    $extList['gif'] = 'image/gif';
    $extList['jpg'] = 'image/jpeg';
    $extList['jpeg'] = 'image/jpeg';
    $extList['png'] = 'image/png';
    // --------------------- END CONFIGURATION
    $img = null;
    if (substr($folder,-1) != '/') {
    $folder = $folder.'/';
    if (isset($_GET['img'])) {
    $imageInfo = pathinfo($_GET['img']);
    if (
    isset( $extList[ strtolower( $imageInfo['extension'] ) ] )
    file_exists( $folder.$imageInfo['basename'] )
    $img = $folder.$imageInfo['basename'];
    } else {
    $fileList = array();
    $handle = opendir($folder);
    while ( false !== ( $file = readdir($handle) ) ) {
    $file_info = pathinfo($file);
    if (
    isset( $extList[ strtolower( $file_info['extension'] ) ] )
    $fileList[] = $file;
    closedir($handle);
    if (count($fileList) > 0) {
    $imageNumber = time() % count($fileList);
    $img = $folder.$fileList[$imageNumber];
    if ($img!=null) {
    $imageInfo = pathinfo($img);
    $contentType = 'Content-type: '.$extList[
    $imageInfo['extension'] ];
    header ($contentType);
    readfile($img);
    } else {
    if ( function_exists('imagecreate') ) {
    header ("Content-type: image/png");
    $im = @imagecreate (100, 100)
    or die ("Cannot initialize new GD image stream");
    $background_color = imagecolorallocate ($im, 255, 255, 255);
    $text_color = imagecolorallocate ($im, 0,0,0);
    imagestring ($im, 2, 5, 5, "IMAGE ERROR", $text_color);
    imagepng ($im);
    imagedestroy($im);
    ?>
    [/code]
    4) in whichever file you want the random images to appear,
    reference the image so:
    src="path/to/that/image/folder/rotate.php"
    I tend to use root-relative pathing, but that part is up to
    you.
    NOTE: I've found that random image references are quirky in
    IE browsers - they seem to want the image width and height to
    display images that are dynamically selected... I've used this
    script to display images that are all the same size and groups that
    aren't. When the image size is unknown, I use width:100%
    height:100% in my css)
    email me if you have any issues with using the script. I use
    it a lot with WordPress sites, but it isn't a WP only solution.

  • Bridge displaying random image

    I have a MacPro with 10.5.2 and CS3. I work mostly in the Horizontal Filmstrip mode and I am having serious issues with previews. I click on a thumbnail and a random image from a completely different folder shows in the large window. Anyone else have this issue? Suggestions? Thanks.

    Yes, Scott is right. We either put up with spurious thumbnails or with blurry previews. Obviously the latter is the lesser of the two evils.
    After
    UNchecking High-quality Previews in Bridge, you need to quit and re-launch Bridge, then painstakingly Purge the Cache for each darned folder, one by one, through the Tools menu in Bridge.
    DO NOT use the global Purge Cache command because that one is broken. If you use it, the cache will NOT rebuild properly.
    Unfortunately, I've given up all hope of Adobe fixing it, as CS4 is around the corner, a version to which I have no plans to upgrade. :/

  • Another random image/javascript question

    So I'm trying to find the easiest way to randomly select 4 images (out of range of 8 images) and present them on a page. No motion or transitions needed - just a way that every time someone visits the page a random selection of 4 of the 8 images are shown. My current HTML looks something like this:
    <div id="slider">
                <ul id="randomSlide">
                <!-- 1 -->
                     <li>
                        <a href="path/to/someotherpage.html"><img alt="alt text" src="img/1.jpg"/></a>
                     </li>
              </ul>
    </div>
    So any suggestions on a good way to solve this problem? Any jQuery plugins? Tips?

    I have not tested this on a live server, but this works perfectly locally. Put the following script immediately before the closing </body> tag on the page:
    <script>
    var images =  [], list = document.getElementById('randomSlide'),
        elems = list.getElementsByTagName('li');
    images[0] = {src: 'lasvegas1.jpg', url: 'lasvegas.html'};
    images[1] = {src: 'lasvegas2.jpg', url: 'lasvegas.html'};
    images[2] = {src: 'longbeach.jpg', url: 'longbeach.html'},
    images[3] = {src: 'longbeach2.jpg', url: 'longbeach.html'};
    images[4] = {src: 'losangeles1.jpg', url: 'losangeles.html'};
    images[5] = {src: 'losangeles2.jpg', url: 'losangeles.html'};
    images[6] = {src: 'sanfrancisco1.jpg', url: 'sanfrancisco.html'};
    images[7] = {src: 'sanfrancisco2.jpg', url: 'sanfrancisco.html'};
    images.sort(function() { return 0.5 - Math.random()});
    for (var i = 0; i < 4; i++) {
        elems[i].getElementsByTagName('a')[0].href = images[i].url;
        elems[i].getElementsByTagName('img')[0].src = 'images/' + images[i].src;
    </script>
    Obviously, you need to change the values of src and url in each array element.
    What this does is create an array of objects containing the image name and its associated url. The array is then sorted randomly, and a loop that runs four times is used to populate the "randomSlide" unordered list, replacing the href and src attributes. I have assumed the images are in a folder called "images". If not, change the value of 'images/' in the loop at the end of the script.
    When I tested this locally, I used # for the default href and an empty string for src in each <img> tag. Since some people might have JavaScript disabled, it might be better to use actual values. However, this might result in the images changing after the page loads. The problem is that you can't access the unordered list until it has loaded into the DOM. The alternative would be to sort the array and preload the images, but this will slow down the display of the whole page.
    A server-side solution would be much more efficient.

  • Suggestions for simple random image script

    Would like to randomly display one of five new JPG banner each time page is loaded.
    Your experience would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Since no one replied, I am posting solution I found.for future inquiries.
    Simple PHP Random Image Script
    This can be done in one line of text directly in your HTML and a collection of images.
    The first step is to gather together the images you wish to have randomly rotated.
    Change all of their file names to a numerical order, starting with the number 1.
        * 1.jpg
        * 2.jpg
        * 3.jpg
        * 4.jpg
    Be sure each image has the same extension (either all jpg, png, or gif),
    and that there are no gaps in the numbers.
    Also, place these images in their own folder to keep everything organized.
    Write the Code
    In the HTML of your page, insert the following code where you want an image to display:
    <img src="path/<?php echo rand(1,n);?>.jpg" alt="Random Image" />
    The “rand” operator will display a randomly generated number between 1 and ‘n’.
    Change ‘n’ to the total amount of pictures you have arranged numerically
    (or the highest numbered picture you have).
    In the example above I only have 4 pictures, therefor I would change it to: rand(1,4);

  • How can i see the previews of a folder's images from the Thumbnail View?

    I mean, in windows XP if you set the Thumbnail View, inside the icon of the folder you can see the preview of the images inside ( like this http://mowd.idv.tw/LonghornPDC/folder_preview.JPG )...
    Is there a way to do it on Mac OS X? Maybe some plug-in, some file manager: anything...i often have to check out thousands of photos to find the reference for an illustration, and it's pretty frustrating having to open up every folder...
    Thanks in advance
    iMac 24"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    but none of these two options allows me to see a folder's images BEFORE opening it...
    You want to go back and try that again... just right click on the folder - you don't have to open it - and choose 'Show In PicturePopPro2'.
    Check out the icons on the menu bar - you can get a contact sheet view, move from shot to shot using the arrow keys... it'll do what you want.

    Running Mac OS X Version 10.7.2  Lion on a MacBook Pro
    Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Any ideas?

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks.
    My HD is a "normal" HD, so I guess it's HFS+. (According to Disk Utility it is Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
    The NAS is WD MyBook Live Duo. I just plugged into my Time Machine.
    I am relocating using Aperture "relocate originals for project" under the File tab.
    Ahh, thanks for the answer to question 1.
    Yes, I am trying to relocate them, but tried different things to find the problem.
    And the problem seems to be that when an image gets an extra attribute (when it's downloaded from the internet, when it is comes from a mail message) then Aperture seems not to be able to move the file.
    I.e. Aperture presumeably asks the Finder or kernel to perform this task, and this then fails because of the extra attirbutes that were set.
    I now found a way of manually removing the extra attributes, but that is a pain.
    Think of this normal workflow:
    - someone sends me an email containing images
    - I move the images to my Desktop
    - I then import the images into Aperture
    - I then decide to relocate my images for that project to my NAS
    Then is when this problem occurs.
    So I just tried to relocate to another place on my HD.
    That works fine.
    I looked again at the error message.
    And it says "could not set attributes com.apple.metadata:kMDItemDownloadedDate on destination file descriptor" .
    So, yes, it seems like it has to do with the NAS not supporting setting the extra attributes.
    And as long as there are no extra attributes on an image, there is no problem.
    (Not completely true, but I have another thread about that)
    Thanks Frank, I have to digest this a bit.
    Regards
    Jan

  • Random images display strong yellow/green cast

    system - 24" intel iMac, 3ghz, 2gb, 500bg hd, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS with 512MB memory, OS 10.5.4. Just purchased.
    System runs fine, and I love the machine. Problem is random images, jpegs, raw, illustrator files, display an awful yellowish tint, both in the preview and when opened in PS or preview. Just random, sometimes a whole folder of images, sometimes just a few. I, of course tested some of the same images on another mac, and they viewed correctly. If I save a copy to the desktop, the icon looks correct, but when opened it looks like puke. Also happens in front row when displaying certain album covers and video trailer art.
    Anyone else run into this?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    Unfortunately the OP and others appear to have the same issue possibly related to the GeForce 8800 GS, see the following thread!

  • Safari doesn't display jpg when accessing the image from the browser

    This is weird and very annoying. As soon as I click on an image to display it, Safari starts loading it and as soon as it's completely downloaded, it disappears.
    For instance, when I click this link (http://www.digitaltrends.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/lg3d_oled500x375.jpg) I see the image appearing gradually and then when it's fully uploaded everything disappears and I'm staring at a white page. I can view it fine when it's embedded in the page, but not when I'm trying to open it.
    I already reseted Safari (cleared cache, etc.) deleted the plist file and the webicon file in Library/Safari. Nothing works and I have no idea what to do... Help!!!

    Ok.. so it's just limited to your account and not a system wide issue. That's a good thing.
    Since you are running 10.5.8, make sure Safari is not running in Rosetta.
    Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle so it faces down. Where you see Open using Rosetta... make sure that is NOT selected.
    Quit Safari. Go to ~/Library/Safari and move the Downloads.plist file to the Trash. Relaunch Safari and try again.

  • Load Random Image in Flash?

    I've googled it and searched this forum. No luck.
    Does anybody know how to load a random image in flash. Like
    on a welcome screen (i.e. the first thing that shows up in my
    timeline with a stop command on it)
    I tried this:
    http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/loadingrandombackground.htm

    Actions: "Now, look at your timeline. Right click on a blank
    keyframe in the timeline and select Actions. Copy and paste the
    following code: "
    seems like i have to add something first like adding a
    behavior like "goto URL" or "stop" or "goto frame" if you know what
    i mean.
    what do i click on???????????????????? to add this code into
    Actions.
    Thanx.

    let say you have 20 images file in jpg format, all at the
    same directory with your flash file, with file name as below:
    pic1.jpg
    pic2.jpg
    pic20.jpg
    in your flash, select the frame which you wan to load a
    random image, type script below:
    num = Math.ceil(10*Math.random());
    filename = "pic" + num + ".jpg";
    _root.createEmptyMovieClip("pic_mc", 1);
    loadMovie(filename, "pic_mc");
