You can't. RAW support is version specific. You need to upgrade to CS6. otehrwise you casn of course use the free DNG converter in the interim...

With PS CS 5, ACR 7.3 will not work.
So either you need to upgrade to CS 6 or use DNG converter to convert images to DNG format which you can open in CS 5

Can't open Canon EOS 6D raw files with CS5. What is the minimum I need to do to open Canon EOS 6D .CR2 raw files in Photoshop CS5 Extended version 12.1 x64, and Brige CS5 version 4.1.0.54, and Camera Raw version 6.7.0.339? I would rather not have to go through the hassle of first converting all files with the Adobe DNG - is there another option? Can I upgrade my Adobe software?

Help needed in cleaning raw data with odd delimiters in it

I am trying to write a sp, which adjust the number of columns based on the IN Parameter for the raw file.
Raw (Id Int,RawData varchar2(5000))
RawData has actual data with delimiter, this column has all the raw file imported as is.
e.g. data in RawData Column
A|B|C|D|E|F
X|B|C|D|E
Z
P|ABC|ZPD|BITX|E|ETC
Here above you can see the max number of delimiter are 5 for a 6 column table, however for some records there are less delimiter, here comes the problem
For such records I want to add the extra delimter and take values for missing column as NULL or best would be''
plz help me in writing Generic SP to clean this.
We can pass the source & target table name and column names as a parameter, and create a clean table dynamically by name CleanedRaw etc.
here the file is | delimited, actually It can have any single char delimiter or space or tab also. I am ok if we need to pass the delimiter also as a parameter to this sp

I mean padd extra delimiters to make up to the max of 6 for this file, it can vary for other file
e.g

would be some thing like

such that target cleaned table will have values as below

Raw files with CS5 photoshop and Nikon D3300

I currently have CS5 suite, I know it's old..but its what I have to work with. I just purchased the Nikon D3300 and cannot open the raw files. I installed the 8.4 dng converter, but obviously that does not work. i tried to uninstall it and install the 6.3 as I read that on a board. But I can't even uninstall the 8.4. No option for that in the uninstall in windows..it just does not come up. Help!! How do open the raw files in CS5?

You need Windows 7/8/8.1 to run the DNG 8.4 converter. Which do you have?
Before you do anything, there is a proper way to use it. You convert a folder of raw files not a single raw file.

Want to use fujifilm xt-1 raw files with cs5

I want to upgrade my raw converter for CS5 so I can use raw files from Fujifilm XT-1. When I try to download camera raw 6_4_1 it won't install. I'm using OS 10.8.5.

Nothing you're doing wrong. It's just a case of software incompatibility.

Each camera model’s raw files must be supported individually and Adobe only updates their currently shipping products for new cameras.
The X-E2, being a new camera, was first supported in ACR 8.3 which is only compatible with CS6 and CC, not CS5.
Upgrading your PS to CS6 or CC or buying Lightroom are probably the best choices to allow native support for your X-E2 raw files.
You can also use the free Adobe DNG Converter 8.3 to create DNGs from your X-E2 raw files, and those DNGs will open in older ACR plug-ins such as ACR 6.x that comes with PS-CS5 but be aware you’ll need to set your conversation options to old enough that your ACR plug-in is newer. The default conversion level is ACR 7.1 which is too new.

Raw deal with CS5

I could have 16 (20Mb or so) files open in CS4, use Nik plugins on each one, sometimes several times, with never a crash. CS5 crashes all the time, sometimes when Nik plugins are in use, sometimes not. It often crashes when I attempt to save Jpeg 2000 files, or else saves them with a size of 0 bites. I did a lengthy session yesterday morning, it must have crashed a dozen times. I thought I would be safe if I limited myself to processing 3 files at once, but no (although it does take longer before it crashes). Out of memory errors for Content Aware Fill so one has to do larger areas in several pieces. Exactly the same set up as for CS4. It is very difficult to regard whatever Adobe has done to the program as progress, or to put all the blame on the sloppiness of plugin writers when the program will crash sooner or later anyway without anyone's help. Chris, this situation is bordering on the farcical. It reminds me of Windows 98 which you had to restart several times a day. You let this program out of the door way before it was ready. I hope you guys have an update well on the way.

Plugin writers often don't have a good feel for how to use dynamic memory (i.e., to allocate and deallocate buffers in a way that plays well with Photoshop), and VERY few actually make their code resilient enough to handle memory allocation failures gracefully. To be fair, it's difficult to do right - such error handling needs to be taken into account in the very design itself, not added on later.
To top it off, Adobe doesn't make it all that easy, insofar as they do not allow the plugin writer to call the Photoshop buffer suite from within any thread other than the one they call the plugin on (and any plugin worth its salt is multithreaded in today's computing environment). This means that a plugin can't easily share in the memory allocated via your preference setting for Photoshop's memory allocation percentage in the intended way, but instead must actually "fight" the system for the memory that's left over.
This isn't intended to answer this thread, but to inform.

We would like to collect data on what countries or regions the users of our iTunes U site are from. What is the most efficient way to associate the Storefront numbers or partial IP addresses in the raw data with the region or country they represent?

It would be tremendously helpful if the data by country could be included in the automated weekly reports. It currently takes much time to filter through the daily raw data, convert the Storefront ID or IP address to country and tally number of downloads, streams, browse by country... to make a report.
Many resource publishers provide this data to site managers, such as YUDU.com and ning.com. It's very helpful to know as much as possible about the users.

Unfortunatly the 7.x series of camera raw plugin is not compatible with photoshop cs5.
You could download the 7.4 DNG Converter and convert your d600 files to dng copies which then photoshop cs5 will open.

I'm just add a new data set from BI Analysis, I select the Analysis and press OK, pop-up closed and in the data set I see the box with the message... nothing else.
If I try to use a simple Analysis, the new data set works.

Issue with Oracle LONG RAW data type

I am facing some issues with Oracle LONG RAW DATA Type.
We are using Oracle 9IR2 Database.
I got a table having LONG RAW column and I need to transfer the same into another table having LONG RAW column.
When I tried using INSERT INTO SELECT * command (or) CREATE TABLE as select * , it is throwing ORA-00997: illegal use of LONG datatype.
I have gone through some docs and found we should not use LONG RAW using these operations.
So I did some basic PLSQL block given below and I was able to insert most of the records. But records where the LONG RAW file is like 7O kb, the inserting is faliling.
I tried to convert LONG RAW to BLOB and again for the record where the LONG RAW is big in size I am getting (ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error) error.
Appreciate if anyone can help me out here.

Are we now requiered to buy CS6 to get camera raw 8.4 or is there an upgrade that works with CS5?

I use CS5 and don't want CS6. I do however need to upgrade camera raw and would like to get 8.4 or newer. Is there a way to get it without having to buy a whole new program? If not I guess I'll have to stop using CS6 and Lightroom 5 for my work and use another program.

As a Cloud member, you can still store your files locally just as you do now. That's my preferred workflow too.
Cloud membership does come with 20GB of Cloud storage space on remote servers but using it is optional. You're not obliged to.
I have been with Adobe and using both Photoshop and lightroom since beginning, but I guess all good things must come to an end at sometime.
Using the free DNG converter, you can continue with your current software and your current camera. You just have to convert the camera's Raw files to DNGs first.
