Obrigado.

• When I download files, firefox is adding " .part " to the file name and the file won't open, but if i back the .part out, it opens fine.

Firefox seems to be adding " .part " to the file names of files I downoad. Here's an example:
YuT9iNv8.pdf.part
I cannot open this file because it can't find an application.
If I back out the .part, I get a box asking if I want to change the extension to .pdf I check yes, and everything works fine. It doesn't happen with other browsers (Safai).

I get the error message saying the file could not be downloaded due because there is no enough disk space.

• Firefox incorrectly finds part of a word when searching for a term

Dear Sir/Madam
I was just searching for articles about "sage" (the herb), and at the site
http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/sweat.html
there's the following section:
"08/30/2009: Ckn1234 from Brooklyn, Ny replies: "I had the ETS surgery too and have started to sweat profusely on my chest and back. Do you still take the same do***sage*** 3X a day to combat the sweating? Have the results maintained their effectiveness?"
I pressed Ctrl + F to bring up the Firefox Find box and I typed in: sage
One of the hits was the the word "dosage", which I marked above as: do***sage***
Even though the site is indeed about the herb sage, this particular hit isn't relevant, so obviously there's a problem here with the Firefox Find feature.
Could you please modify the Firefox Find box so that there's a tick box that reads "Find whole words only", and another that reads "Find partial words only".
On an unrelated point, it would also be very useful if you could highlight different search terms in different colours. For instance if I search for "lodge" and "complaint" (i.e. the collocation "to lodge a complaint"), it would be very useful if you could highlight "lodge" and "complaint" in different colours.
Thank you

You can install the add-on 'YesScript' and then use it to tell Javascript not to let Google perform AutoComplete. From what I've read, Google is forcing AutoComplete down our throats whether we want that feature or not. Their logic is that people type too slowly, so this will speed things up. Trouble is, I type faster than AutoComplete can even begin to keep up with, so I was forever having to wait for AutoComplete to catch up with me, in order to see if I had misspelled something before pressing Enter. All AutoComplete did was slow me down until it was finally disabled.
Funny thing is, Google embeds a gear-like looking icon in the upper-right corner of its search screens, which enables us to change our search settings. You can turn GoogleInstant off there, but not AutoComplete. Sure wish they'd have allowed us to disable AutoComplete in that manner. This would have saved disgruntled Google Heads an awful lot of trouble, but how much trouble could it possibly have been for Google to add that little bit of highly desirable functionality in the first place?
Seems to me, some of the software engineers at Google might be the same people who are controlling the way traffic lights work here in Norman, OK: It's as if the signals are set for 80 year-old ladies making their way back from church, which works pretty well about 11:00 o'clock on a Sunday morning, but the rest of the time all it does is frustrate the heck out of most of the rest of us.

• My Option window in Firefox displays only partly. I can't change the download folder. 'Browse' is not showing. And the Advanced tab is not showing either

The Option Window in Firefox is incomplete. It only shows
General, Tabs, Content, Applications, Privacy, Security, Sync
The Advanced Tab is not showing and the Browse button to change download location is missing also.

If you are using an add-on theme switch to the default theme. If that isn't the source of your problem ....
Try the Firefox SafeMode. <br />
A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons. <br />
# You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the Shft key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
# Or use the Help menu item, click on Restart with Add-ons Disabled... while Firefox is running. <br />
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

• Why is Firefox only showing part of my Gmail login menu?

I log into my Gmail using a nav button on FIrefox entitled 'Google Mail - Inbox'. Whether it appeared there automatically or I put it there, it has worked fine. Today, it doesn't, I instead get an odd Google menu which shows only the text of (what I assume is) my Google account. Can one attach a file with a screenshot here, can't see any attachment facility? They say it may be caused by a broken or slow browser connection, but then Google do tend to clutch at straws. I need to work out whether the problem is Google, Firefox or both.
Can't open the 'Troubleshooting info' box below. I am on a Mac PPC G5 on Firefox 3.6.28, which Firefox keeps threatening to pull but hasn't done so yet.

• Firefox cutting off part of swf

Hi - I created a swf and embedded it in a page. When I test it locally, it's fine but when I upload to my test server Firefox cuts off the bottom and right, where the navigation is. I did strip down the embed code because this is going into a CMS.There are other pages on the site with swfs using the same embed code and these work properly. The same thing happened with the original html generated by Flash Catalyst - fine locally, cutting off once uploaded to server.

• After AVG PC Tune up, software update message for security and stability update is available FireFox 3.6.18. Should I Update?

My Dell laptop (Operating on Windows XP) was hit with multiple viruses - I could not open Mozilla Firefox or any other applications for that matter. After much time and many attempts, I was finally able to install and run an AVG Scan and then an AVG PC Tune up. 4,559 problems found and repaired. After the repairs, I received the following message:
"Software Update - A security and stability update for Firefox is available: Firefox 3.6.18 - It is strongly recommended that you apply this update for Firefox as soon as possible. - an underlined link reading, "View more information about this update" and then 2 choices - "Ask Later" or "Update Firefox." Since part of the problem was with Firefox and some error messages pointed to that, I'm hesitant to click on any of the three options above. Can you help me to get past this error message, please. I am sending this from my home computer. Thank you. Diane

Sometimes the updater gets in a funny state - Go to http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ and download the full installer. Close Firefox and run the installer

• How can I prevent Firefox automatically updating when first opened on a new CentOS Installation ?

Hi,
I just installed CentOS on a new virtual machine for testing. I need to run Firefox 28 on it.
NO. Don't argue. It needs to be firefox 28.. Yes, I know firefox 35 is out. Yes I know it fixes important vulnerabilities. Yes, I know it has a load of new features. That information won't help me in the slightest. I need Firefox 28 on this virtual machine for a very specific reason, firefox 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34 and 35 won't be suitable for this purpose.... The reason I need it is to do with testing a specific website compatibility with older browser versions on multiple operating systems. I am fully aware that the latest version of firefox is the "best"... but it's not what I need right now, so please don't ask questions like "why are you using an older version" or suggest things like "you know, it's really in your best interests to use the latest version"... I get it, OK.... but that's not a helpful reply to this question, because I have a really specific requirement here.
... sorry if that seems rude, I just know what sort of replies get posted here whenever someone suggests using an older browser. I do get why people give such advice. I do understand the benefits of keeping computers that connect to the internet up to date. This particular Virtual Machine won't actually be used to connect to the internet... just to a test website on an intranet.
So the problem I have is that this installation of CentOS 6.4 (x64) comes with Firefox 31. When it first opens, before I have a chance to toggle off update checking, it begins downloading Firefox 35.0.1 and I haven't figured out how to abort the download. I thought about killing the task, but I feared what that might do. So I let it update to Firefox 35 and thought I'd just downgrade it to Firefox 28 afterwards.
I do have the standalone installation of Firefox 28 for linux (firefox-28.0.tar.bz2). I can extract it on the CentOS virtual machine. I thought for my purpose, I could then just run the browser binary.... but it started updating before I could change the option to never check for updates... and there's no option to abort the download there....... sigh...
So I tried editing the file update-setting.ini. I was quite hopeful when I saw it say:
; If you modify this file updates may fail.
; Do not modify this file.
So I changed the setting below to say:
[Settings]
ACCEPTED_MAR_CHANNEL_IDS=dont_update_this_please
hoping that my rather rash change might indeed cause updates to fail :-)
Sadly, it seems that the updates are still happening.
Basically here is what I need on CentOS - A way to run Firefox 28 without it updating to a newer version without asking me first. I don't mind if it keeps asking me... so long as it asks me instead of just doing it without asking.
Just to be clear again - this is for a test configuration I have to build, on a virtual machine. It's OK for this one specific machine to have vulnerabilities, it's OK that it doesn't have all the new features of Firefox 35. It's what I need. It won't be used to browse the internet and go to dangerous web sites that might implant malicious code. It will only be used to connect to a specific web server, behind a corporate firewall, that my company tightly controls. I'm pretty sure doesn't have malware on it (if it does, I have much bigger problems that using an old version of a browser) . Then in a few weeks time, this VM will be deleted, along with the old version of Firefox I hope to have running on it.
Incidentally, I may also have to repeat whatever I'm doing here later on another CentOS VM to install Firefox 27, 26, 25... but I'm hoping I don't have to... but I assume that whatever procedure works for Firefox 28 will work for these other slightly older versions too... don't worry, I don't have to go all the way back to Firefox 1.0... it's not THAT bad :-)
So, with the understanding very clear that normally you would probably recommend just using the latest version.... can anyone help me ?
Thanks in advance.

Firefox tarballs from Mozilla Org use prefs within Firefox for updates. The "toggle" for not automatically updating - app.update.enabled and where to look for updates - app.update.url. The first needs to be false and the second could be a null string, do an update can't be found.
I use both prefs to keep Firefox from updating by itself. I install each new version of Firefox as it is released, and keep the older versions around for reference purposes. Those prefs are the same since Firefox 1.5 came out.
The versions of Firefox that are part of an operating system installation usually are that OS's own build of Firefox, and don't use the same update setup as Mozilla uses, in most cases. I am not familiar with Cent OS, but Ubuntu and Debian look for Firefox updates and from their own program repository servers outside of Firefox - as with the tarballs from Mozilla.

• How can I get FireFox 4 to be able to handle a number of videos open in a number of tabs. FireFox 3.6 could handle this but Fire Fox 4 , no chance. Please advise. Kind Regards.

On Windows XP.

But FFox 4 can not handle multi vids in multi tabs, or at least mine can not . Please advise what I can do to fix this. Kind Regards.
