.daa files (Direct Access Archive)

Is there any way to open a .daa file on a Mac? If you can't open it, can you mount it somehow, and then take the contents out?
Sorry if this wasn't the right forum to ask, but I've been looking and I've spent so much time worrying about where to ask the question I probably could have asked it once and been told to ask it elsewhere, then gotten it answered there in the time I've taken!
Thanks.

Thanks, I guess I was kind of looking for one of those Mac cracker solutions with the elegantly simple ways to handle the Windows stuff. I'm not planning to mess up my new MBP by putting Windows on it, and I'm not going to go to the trouble of bowing before a Windows-centric proprietary file format, so I guess I'll boycott for the time being.
But if anyone knows or does come up with a solution, please post! I know there are a lot of other Mac users out there asking, because I've seen them.

  • How to restrict users to access the files directly from /irj/go/km/docs/doc

    Dear Experts,
    I have made a folder in KM where I have saved some files, and also I have made a application from where user can access those files.
    But the users are able to access the files by directly typing the path of the file in internet explorer, I have to restrict it that the user should not be able to access the files directly.
    Please give your helpful suggestions.

    Hello,
    You can have a link/button react to a mouse clic by reading the KM document and putting it on the htpp flux with the correct header (this is the same kind of code that is used when you generate the pdf). As the file access is in you server-code, user will not have access to the URL...
    an exemple for the WD Java (coming from this [PDF|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d0cc41cb-9576-2b10-99a6-ab90ef28c73b]), with slight modifications :
    public void exportToPDF( ) {
       //@@begin exportToPDF()
       ByteArrayOutputStream outputStream = null;
       outputStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
       // read the file with KM API and copy it to the outputStream
       showPopUp(WDWebResourceType.PDF, outputStream, "PDF Out Put");
       outputStream.close();
    //@@end

  • Not Using Index on File Server When Accessing User Files Directly on Server

    It appears to me that on a server with an indexed network share (Desktop Experience and Search Indexing roles/features installed), if you access the share directly on the server using its drive path, you can search the folders using the index, which
    is much faster and supports finding words inside of the files in seconds). However, if you access the same shared folder via its network path from the server itself, the server ignores the index. I have this experience/problem across all shared folders on
    the Windows 2012 R2 Server. Details and my most specific goal follows.
    In addition to a laptop, I frequently work directly on a Windows Server 2012 R2 computer. We have Redirected Folders set up on DFS (for failover redundancy) so that my Documents folder is in:
    \\network\redirections\user\documents. This all works fine on Windows 7 and 8 client computers connected to the network via Offline Files.
    The problem is on the server itself. The server has Desktop Experience enabled and Windows Search is installed. If I navigate manually through the DFS root folder to my documents folder, I can search and it properly uses the index. This proves the location
    is properly indexed. However, if I access the folders through the official "Documents" folder from the Folder Redirection (a network share pointing to the same server computer I'm working on), it performs an un-indexed search (slow and ignores file
    contents, but does find files eventually if the search term is in their filename). Is there a way to force the server to use the indexed search on the Redirected Folders (my Documents folder in particular) when working on that server when logged in locally
    on that server?
    I suspect a workaround would be to go into the Registry and manually change the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders to point to the local DFS folder instead of the network share name, but at least one problem
    with this is then if I save files with links to other files (e.g., a linked Excel table in a PowerPoint, a mail merge to Access database in Word, etc.) on the server computer, those links will point to d:\DFSroot\... (a physical drive on the computer) instead
    of \\network\redirections\user\... (a universally accessible network path) and so none of the other computers will be able to find the linked files, defeating one of the
    major benefits of using Redirected Folders.
    I can't believe that I need to choose between indexed searching and proper path names in saved files. Surely there is a way to use an indexed search on the server itself?
    If you need any more info to help me troubleshoot, please let me know.
    Thanks for any help,
    Colin

    Hi Colin,
    It seems that we can not use indexed search on DFS shares. Windows Search works well when users directly access the server. That is, the server is not made available through Distributed File System (DFS).

  • Direct File System access problems from JAWS application

    Hello,
    I have built a Web Start application that consists of a Webserver (Jetty) ,
    a WAR file and a Java (main) class that deploys the web application on
    the server and starts the server. It all works fine, apart from the fact
    that I am getting java.security.AccessControlExceptions when I try to
    access the local filesystem or system variables like the java.io.tmpdir.
    I have signed all the jar files and I included the<security> <allpermissions />
    </security> tag in the jnlp file. Still, I can't seem to get out
    of the sandbox.
    I have read in this article (http://mindprod.com/jgloss/javawebstart.html)
    that direct file system access from a Web Start application is impossible
    (Quote: "There is still no way for even a signed JAWS app to
    find some persistent disk space in an easy way. It pretty well
    has to ask the user for the name of some directory to use.")
    Is this true?
    Thank you,
    Peter

    Hi Guys,
    I found a way to access the local filesystem...
    Besides signing all the jar files and including the<security><allpermissions /></security> tag in the jnlp file I have to include this line in the code I execute on the client machine:
    System.setSecurityManager(null);

  • Access wav-files in jar-archives (URL works, File works not)

    Hi there!
    The un-jar-ed application works fine, but I have a problem with accessing files in jar archives.
    URL url = Classname.class.getResource("testdir/test.wav");works fine (and loading images works this way), but as soon as I try to get the file
    File file = new File(url.getFile());I get an null-exception.
    (in my case, I use the jmf package to play the sound-files, and I get the problem when I try to instatiate the MediaLocator
    MediaLocator mediaLocator = new MediaLocator(url);but I think the problem is the same)
    Thanx for help

    works fine Then keep doing it that way. What's the problem? It's true that you can't access something in a jar archive via a File object, so don't do that.

  • Application Security - Protecting the files from direct access

    I am working on my application. I have a Flex app that
    everyone will access but to do the work, I have it calling on
    several PHP files. The Flex app has a login system and only allows
    advanced functionality after login. This protects the Flex portion,
    but does not really account for the PHP side of things.... The PHP
    files do a variety of things, mostly SQL calls, but also run a few
    system commands.
    How do you set up the PHP files or use an htaccess file to
    only allow the Flex app to call the PHP files? I'd like to set it
    up so that the users can't directly access the PHP files. However,
    I'm sure the client workstation is still making the request when
    called by the Flex app, right?
    Has anyone done this? Does anyone have any thoughts or
    suggestions on this?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi csawall,
    These are just some off the top ideas, you can extrapolate
    and create a solution that might work:
    Since the client has access to the data stream to/from the
    server, there is no way to guarantee that someone won't use some
    kind of sniffer program to find what file the flex app is talking
    to, but that doesn't mean that you can't obfuscate it as much as
    possible to make it not worth trying.
    One idea was to use a single index and use _GET to control
    what content is being served, using includes on the php side to
    serve the proper file/content.
    Since the content you are delivering I would assume requires
    authentication, you'll have a unique session ID to work in. While
    the actual php file could be accessed in real time if you watched
    the data stream, if the user is already authenticated, what diff
    does it make? Set up specific rules inside your php file, so that
    it must receive data using a specific protocol, one that you can
    obfuscate using crypt and base it on variables that are unique,
    such as SSID + date + time, etc. When you first authenticate with
    the server from the flex app, have the php login script return the
    required protocol rules back to the flex app that would be unique
    to the session. The _SESSION variables on the server would contain
    the unique protocol rules as well. This gives you server side
    control over talking to the flex app... then all you would need to
    do, if you wanted to keep a tighter lid on the access to your
    script, is just rotate the protocol from time to time.
    Add on top of this, script name obfuscation that you store
    server side and transfer only withing the validated session, such
    as e.g. fstrs4adadst4_somefile.php etc etc, where your randomized
    key is the prefix (or suffix whichever you prefer) of your index.
    Your code of course would use the current protocol keys to match
    the current index, and all you need do is control the .htaccess
    file so that it relays any $_somefile.php to the proper
    file/directory etc which would be a name that would never be
    revealed to the public, and only used inside your .htaccess file or
    on the server side itself.
    Taking it a step further, if you create some kind of pulsing
    authentication system using the above methods, you can rotate the
    keys fast enough, so that someone would have to work really hard to
    figure out the protocol to talk to your server
    Just my 2 cents...

  • Complete Outlook 2010 Lock-Up when accessing archive pst files

    Hi,
    I am having a real issue with Outlook 2010 (32 bit) and accessing archive pst files that are stored on a network share on our SBS server.
    Like many we operate almost soley using email and this creates ever larger mailboxes, so most items are archived after six-months, but still need to be accessed occassionaly.
    Each user has a series of archive pst files that are stored on our server in a common location for ease, but since switching some users to Office 2010 we now have a major issue that if a user opens one of the archive pst files from its network location they
    can view everything in all folders of the archive, but after accessing a couple of messages Outlook "stops responding" and totally locks.
    It seems that Outlook is trying to access the message in the archive pst, but cannot complete this and even restarting Outlook doesn't solve this as on restart the splash screen sticks at loading profile and never restarts! Worse yet this lock-up in Outlook
    actually prevents Windows 7 from closing down, so when you try to restart the PC to resolve the problem Windows 7 just sits at "shutting down" and never closes (left for 20 mins), so a reset or hard reboot is then needed.
    Has anyone seen similar issues with pst files created from Outlook 2007?
    Is this issue due to network location of pst's?
    Anyone got any ideas, as this issue drives me nuts when it happens, which thankfully is rare as we dont access archives often and can do so fine if needed from a PC running Outlook 2007.
    Thanks
    Ridesy

    Here is my 2 cents, a few years down the road from the original posting.
    I had the same problem as the original poster... extremely slow .pst performance for a current archive folder.
    I have a SBS 2008 system in place at this client. Ironically they acquired another small business and everyone moved in--along with all their data which lead to the following discovery.
    Company A's SBS 2008 server was a bit tight on disk space so I talked them into setting up a second server to be primarily a file server.
    I moved all of Company B's data --including lots of good old .PST archive files to sever #2.
    I setup all Company B staff with a new mapped drive and had their Outlook 2010 clients open their old archive .pst mail from this mapped drive.
    Current archive files, like the rest of Company A's staff, point to the SBS server via a UNC share \\server\Usershares\%username%\....I just like to keep consistency and this was how it was setup all along.
    With the latest archive .pst folder on Server #1 (the sbs server) for some of my recent Company B setups--performance is horrible. Exactly what everyone is complaining about. I have 10gig archive.pst files for these same users on the second server using
    a mapped network drive and they open fine. Even some archive files that are 15+ gigs in size (archives are named for each year--2006.pst etc).
    So, either there is a problem hosting your .pst via UNC shares, or on a SBS server in general.
    Short story... try setting it up via a Mapped network drive on a different server that isn't doing everything like the SBS server is...I tend to think it is UNC mapping related but not sure.
    Not guaranteeing this is the 'fix' but it definitely was a night and day difference when I just tried this and I am not going to do anything different from here out.

  • How to use database file within jar archive

    Hi. I'm quite new in Java programming, and I'm wondering if what I did makes sense or not.
    In my applet I'm using a MS Access Database file, which is contained in the same Jar Archive like the Applet class file. I tried and tried to use this Database file directly but it wouldn't work. Than I read in some other forum that it is not possible to use the database file directly within the archive. First question: Is that true?
    Than I desided to extract the DB file in the init() method of my applet to the default temporary foulder. When the program is closed I use the destroy() method to delete it again. Everything works well now. But is this the typical way this is done?
    Thanks for help!

    Hi,
    here is the code which extracts the database file out of the jar archive (the same archive in which the class file is):
    //get the user temporary folder
    File TempFolder = new File(System.getProperty("java.io.tmpdir"));
    //create (empty) db file
    efile = new File(TempFolder, "steelSections.mdb");
    // if database file is not yet extracted
    if (!efile.exists()) {
    //get an input stream for the database file
    InputStream in = new BufferedInputStream(this.getClass().getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(
    "FaST/db/steelSections.mdb"));
    //create an output stream for the db file on the file system
    OutputStream out = new BufferedOutputStream(new FileOutputStream(efile));
    //-Buffer to copy the data
    byte[] buffer = new byte[2048]; //buffer to copy the binary
    for (;;) {
    int nBytes = in.read(buffer); //read data
    if (nBytes <= 0)
    break; //no more data to read
    out.write(buffer, 0, nBytes); //write data
    out.flush(); //close out and in streams
    out.close();
    in.close();
    If you have the db file in an other jar archive file you need a referenze to the entry in the other jar archive. I'm not sure how to get this, but I'm sure you fill find a solution by searching in this forum...
    Good luck!

  • How so i get direct Access to the Music/pics stored on NAS

    How so i get direct Access to the Music/pics stored on a Buffalo Link Station Live with my iPad without using a App? The NAS is conected with a Router. Privatfreigabe (dont know the english Word) is ok. The iTunes Server on NAS is activated. Nö Problem to get Access from iTunes on PCs.
    I just want to use the preinstalled Musik/Photo App to Listen/watch my Music/pics stored on the NAS without losging them on the iPad. Streaming is what i think of.

    Have a look at FileBrowser.

  • Server 2012 Direct Access Single NIC cant get it to work

    Hi,
    I am having some real issues with setting up Direct Access with Server 2012 and a Windows 8 client, it simply won’t work at all.
    First of all I should describe my setup:
    I have an internet connection with a static IPv4 address on the external network adapter of the router
    The internal network address (the address of the router which has the internet connection) is 192.168.1.1
    Server1 (windows 2008 R2 Standard) has a static IPv4 address 192.168.1.2 and has some ports forwarded from the router (443, 25, 80) this server is a domain controller, email server, and has the DNS, DHCP and
    certificate services
    Server 2 (Windows 2008 R2 standard) has static IPv4 address 192.168.1.3 it has no ports forwarded from the router as it has no services accessed externally, it is used as a file server and print server, backup
    domain controller and backup DNS.
    Server 3 (Windows 2012) has static IPv4 address 192.168.1.4 and has the Remote Access server role installed along with all the other default features and roles it requires in the setup process.
    These servers have all got an IPv6 address which I assume the server has configured automatically, there has been no deliberate configurations made to disable IPv6
    I have no UAG or proxy server or anything else to route packets to internal servers. Just this router which has the option for port forwarding (I assume that’s NAT isn’t it?) sorry don’t know much about that
    area.
    I go through the setup wizard in remote access to configure direct access, in the external URL I have entered da.mydomain.com and created a host A record in my external domain name providers DNS which points
    the da record to my external IP address. The wizard creates all the GPO’s, scoped correctly, and applied to a Windows 8 client. The operational status shows its all working and I got green ticks. However, when I connect the client to the internal network it
    doesn’t seem to have correctly got the DA settings. I run the following in powershell
    Get-DnsClientNrptPolicy
    Nothing displays – at all
    Get-NCSIPolicyConfiguration

    I go into services.msc and find that the network connectivity assistant is not started, it wont start either something must trigger it but I have no idea how to get it triggered to start… this might be my only
    source of problem perhaps but on a more network level question:
    If I have such ports as 80, and 443 (which I assume DA uses in some form with a public IPv4 internet address) directed at server 1, how does the DA connection get to server 3 which has the DA role installed?
    I could create another record on the server which also opens port 443 to server as well as for server 1, but then how would the router know which server to pass the DA connection to if the same port is open for two different servers?
    Either way, this first issue is that the client doesn’t seem to have the ability to connect internally correctly yet, so maybe this connectivity service is a good place to start? My understanding is that the
    networks icon in the system tray should show that there is a corporate connection, but it doesn’t. also, the client seems to have the NLS certificate in the computer certificate store, so the cert side of things is working and the GPO side is working.
    Many thanks
    Steve

    ahh i see, so just to enlighten me even further...
    If a company has two web servers that would mean they would need two different public facing IP addresses so they can route to each internal web server. If, like the big companies have, they
    may have many web servers (possibly more than 100) I’m assuming that simply buying more public IP addresses would have a limit, especially since the IPv4 address space is pretty much exhausted. So is this where proxy systems come into play like ISA and Forefront,
    is this what they do?
    I assume if such a product was implemented you could go down to just one or two public IP addresses, point all traffic to the ISA server and that in turn would do all the routing of packets
    to each server behind the NAT/router (probably based on some sort of domain name or sub domain namespace as it’s parameter for forwarding?)
    Secondly, what I have done is installed windows server 2012 and used that as a direct access client (I read on another forum that the windows 8 RP doesn’t have the enterprise bits to make this
    work). I have got much further with the 2012 server acting as a client (installed on laptop, installed desktop experience and wireless LAN),
    but when I run the following command on my DA client I get the following status
    Get-DAConnectionStatus
    Status:
    connectedlocally
    Substatus:
    none
    This appears to work fine, when im connected to the local network. But then I disconnect and run the command again and I get the following:
    Status:
    Error
    Substatus:
    NameResolutionFailure
    On my router what I did is temporarily disable port 443 going to my original server and instead opened it up pointing to my other server, so 443 traffic should be going to my DA server now, but I don’t understand why its giving the name resolution failure
    status. I have a host A record called “da” with my domain hoster, and entered the full domain namespace in the DA wizard as da.mydomain.com (the Host A record has been up there for more than a week so it’s propagated through the net)
    So, a bit further but stuck again.

  • How to view Retrieved file in DMS Archiving.

    Dear All,
    My client is specific about DIR Archiving. Now the scenario is DIR has been marked for Deletion and archived and Stored in a repository successfully. After Archiving DIR has been deleted from the Database.
    Now using SARA Transaction using "Storage System" archived file has been Retrived and File name has been created in Archive Administration. System is displaying File name, Logical path and Physical File name. Below Physical File name it is showing "Archive File is accessable".
    When I check using T-code CV02N Nothing is Displayed.
    Please guide me how to see the Retrived File. My client wants to see the DIR with attched originals.
    Please let me know if any configuration is required.
    with regards,
    S.Dayanand

    HI Dayanand,
    Execute SARA transaction. You can set a deletion flag for document info records that you no longer require for managing
    documents and their original application files. Archiving object CV_DVS enables you to archive these document info records. After the archiving run, you can delete the archived document info records.
    The document info records that you archive and delete with archiving object CV_DVS are
    identified by the following data:
    Document,Document type,Document part, Version
    Follow the steps
    1. Goto DIR which u want to archive and set them deletion indicator On from document tab
    2.Go to transaction CVAR and create Varient for DMS.
    3. Select the selected Varient
    4. Click on Start date
    5. slect the start time for writing,You can choose immediate or schedule later also
    6. Select spool parameters, give output device and press procced, now archiving job wil be scheduled
    7. Now u can check scheduled job by clicking Shift + F4 in same transaction
    8. Select the job & click on Joblog
    9. Note down The archiveing session no. is 0000xxx
    10. Now execute transaction CVRE and enter read program as DVSARCH3 and execute
    11.Provide the archiving session Number 0000xxx and execute u get archived document list.
    12. For deleting archived documents execute CVLO transaction, Select the archived file
    13. Select the No 0000xxx. & click on Continue
    14. Select the start date,You can choose immediate or schedule later also
    15. Enter spool parameter and execute
    16. Now deleting job will be scheduled,
    17. Check the DIR in CV02n, u wont get those archived DIRs
    Hope this will solve your query
    Regards
    Kannan
