DAC 10.1.3.4.1 First Time Login Repository Upgrade Failure

Hi all,
We are upgrading from DAC shipped with Siebel Analytics Applications 7.8.4 to DAC 10.1.3.4.1, platform and repository. This is combined with OBIEE upgrade from Analytics 7.8.5.2 to OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5.0) and OBIA upgrade from Analytics Applications 7.8.4 to OBIA 7.9.6.3. Additionally, the database was upgraded from Oracle 10.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.2.
We've just installed DAC 10.1.3.4.1 on a Windows 2008 (32bit) Server and this completed without issue. When logging in to the DAC Client and making a connection to the existing DAC Repository, after 'Yes' when prompted to upgrade the existing repository, we get a message saying, ["Upgrade didn't complete! Please check log file "log/upgrade.txt" for details."] Upon checking the log file, it states the following:

nothing found - starting upgrade
No upgrade from DAC 1.0 to Dactopus is currently available.
If you want to have a Dactopus repository at the current connection,

PS. We were able to create a new Oracle user, create a new DAC Repository on this new schema and import the OBIA 7.9.6.3 DAC Repository without apparent issue.

I have a conclusion to this question.
Whilst Oracle Support did not explain the error message per se, they did state that one cannot upgrade a DAC 7.8.4 Repository via the First Time Login prompt, but rather to use the Upgrade/Merge Wizard, option 'Repository Upgrade (DAC 784)'. if the customisations are substantial. If the customisations are simple, they can be done manually - see upgrade guides.
Whilst this is indeed stated in the upgrade documentation, I had been confused by other statements in the documents which appeared to be contradictory and ultimately lead me down the wrong upgrade path.
Just do add, the documentation recommends using the Upgrade/Merge Wizard 'Repository Upgrade (DAC 784)' option if the customisations are substantial and unknown. If the customisations are simple and known, they can be done manually - see upgrade guides.

    I'm doing a Portal iFS integration project. We managed to login to our iFS application via an external application definition in the Login Server. We created a JSP screen to create iFS users. In the back-end java-code uses the Portal API to create a Portal user. When this new user uses the external application link for the first time he gets a Portal screen to supply the external username/password combination. Can someone answer the following questions:
    1. How can I customize the layout of this first time external application login screen just like the you can customize the standard portal "login/change password" screens ?
    2. Is there an API to specifiy the external username/password combination for a specific portal user and specific external application in advance in order to prevent the firsttime login screen ?
    Any help/answers would be great. We need to implement this in a few weeks.

    There is an API -- WWSSO_PSTORE_EX which is in $IAS_HOME/portal30/admin/plsql/sso/ssopsex.pks which includes APIs
    for accessing the password store. Please see the package specification here, which is not wrapped. This API is generally private to the SSO schema, but it is granted for EXECUTE to the
    PORTAL30_PS schema - which is the schema provided for access to the password store.
    To add a users credentials to the store, you would use the pstore_add_user_info procedure...

  • OS-X name and password prevents first-time login - Mac experience on hold

    My iMac is now one day old. After entering some personal details, it then asked me to login. The only user available to select was "Other". It then asked me for "Name" and "Password". No combination works.
    More detail: during the setup process I entered my first and second names plus a password. I wasn't asked for a single username. The OS-X login screen correctly displays that this is "My iMac" but every combination of name and password fails to work. I can't go back past selecting user "Other" and I can't login.
    Please help! This is our first Mac and after hours of looking at this impenetrable screen it must rank as our worst ever computer experience.

    I don't know which operating system has the upper hand in security since I've never owned anything with Windows and I am unable to compare.
    An OS X keychain, however, functions as a password manager; it holds several keys (passwords) and will work behind the scenes to allow you access to different places once it is unlocked. Your Login keychain is one of several keychains that can be found in Keychain Access which is a Utility, as Kenichi explained, that can be found as follows: Applications>Utilities>Keychain Access. Your Login keychain password is set by default to the same password as your user account so that it unlocks automatically when you log in and allows you uninterrupted access to Mail and Safari, among other services. You can change this behaviour, if you prefer, to help protect your identity. I will not attempt to walk you through this, but simply advise you to open Keychain Access, click on Help, and then use the search field to find answers to your questions. You might also want to create a new user account to practice creating and manipulating passwords until you have a better understanding of keychains. This way, you won't risk getting locked out of your own account. They had me confused for the longest time and led to a lot of frustration.

  • Log in does not prompt enter new password for first time login

    I have created a new client and conducted a client copy for its data. Upon creation of new user for that client, I've provided the initial password. When the user tried to log in, it did not prompt him with the "Enter new password:". Also when trying to change password in the log in screen, it says. "You can no longer change password". How can I fix this one? im using ecc6.

    Check what kind of user you are creating first i.e dialog (or) service.
    second check if you are having permissions to change the password (or) not.
    For service user it will not prompt and for dialog it will prompt automatically.

  • First-time logins rejected.

    We're experiencing a strange problem with Oracle 8.1.6 on RedHat7. From almost any client, the first attempt at a login is rejected with an "invalid username/password", but a second immediate attempt with the same uid/passwd is successful.
    Has anyone seen this problem or have any idea how to debug it?

    We have a new installation where we have installed and configured EPM 11.1.2 products on our server.
    We have started all Hyperion services. When we go to the Shared Services url, I am unable to login using the credentials I created during the configuration.
    Am I missing something? Just in case, is there a way to reset the initial password,or retain it from somewhere?

    By default most of them use the following :
    UserID: admin
    Passoword: password
    try to remember what user name or ID & password u gave during the Configuration.
    I think you should have the screenshots of the configuration. Check into that ....

  • I have just tried to upgrade to the latest version of itunes, and my ipad was connected to my computer at the time. The upgrade crashed part way through. I now cannot start itunes as it says MSVCR80.dll is missing. Anyone got any ideas?

    Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Not able to connect DAC client after first time

    Hi ,
    I am installing OBI apps 7.9.6.2 . While configuring DAC , I was able to login to DAC client
    with Administrator/Administrator ( given by oracle) for the first time and started exporting the metadata .
    Unfortunately my machine got shut off in between the process .
    Now after re-starting my machine , I am not able to logon to DAC with the same UserID / password .
    Error : "Can't Authenticate user"
    Since I can not logon , I can not create any other user too ,
    I have tried creating a new authentication file too .
    Please let me know if I am missing anything .
    Please help em on this , I need to install OBI Apps 7.9.6.2 on a urgent basis

    I restarted infa services , DAC server is still not started ( I am following steps as in install guide)
    and tried to re-log and configure .
    No luck .
    client is able to connect to database , since test connection with DAC repository schema is working ,
    but it is not finding the user in repository database .
    I am thinking droping the repository schema and re-create so that during configuration of DAC repository is created again .
    please let me know your suggestion .

  • Getting error 36331 while running prebuilt  etl for  first  time

    I have installed BI apps 7.9.6 and OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1, DAC 10.13.4.1 on a Linux machine with Oracle 10gR2 as data base and EBS 11 i as the data source. I am running the prebuilt ETL for the first time for a new execution plan created with Financials-Receivables subject area added to it. Of the total 292 tasks 30 tasks run well and the ETL fails after that with the following error.
    The following error message is from the DAC server log. I have seen the session logs and workflow logs for the SDE_ORA_CodeDimension_Supplier_Payment_Method task, but could figure out what could be the issue. Please let me know if any one has encountered the same issue.

    Found that the indices on tables are failing to be created while running the workflow. I have updated the status of the task as completed and re queued the task. ETL ran successfully then.

  • Installed Firefox 3.6.8 for the first time and it keeps crashing

    I just installed Firefox for the first time and when it is finished installing I tell it to start. It tries and as soon as it does I get a crash report. Every time I click Restrt Firefox it comes up with the same crash error, which is the following:

    You mean out of this whole community no one knows how to fix this ... I wanted to give Firefox a try, but honestly, I am starting to see why I have not switched from IE, it is stable and I get answers when I post to the Microsoft boards as well as the answer to everything I have ever had an issue with is out there ... what is worse is that I am not the only one with this problem and no one can still help because I am sure us five are not the only ones that have run into this.

  • Long time to open workbook for first time

    Hi,
    I have a workbook with three queries . Performance of workbook is good when it was created for first time. It has additional 22 sheets with formulas and other sheets with values based on query sheets.
    The problem starts after I close the existing session and open in another session when it takes 15 to 20 minutes to come up.But after that the book is slow even for single click button action.
    Version of analysis 1.4.6
    Win 7(64 bit)
    Ms office 2010(32 bit)
    Refresh on opening is disabled.
    Few thing which I did:
    >> I opened up task manager and did analyze wait chain, I found that excel.exe is waiting for splwow64.exe process.
    >> I enabled logging at "debugging information" in support setting for workbook and checked things out in log file.
    Found that
    There was warning "AddSerializer failed (Command processors not initialized)
    Looking at log file for events when book took time to open, I found that time stamp gap between  following events"
    -verbose: Working mode as serialized in document:'Local'
    -verbose: Successfully deserialized system info from workbook  XML
    - verbose: ...its logs various properties of queries like query name,id etc"
    and its immediate previous event of cache formula string is 20 mins.
    >> in another session I opened a workbook with normal performance.Found above mentioned warning message and deserialization... information.
    the difference in this case is that there is not delay in events.
    Has anybody faced this issue? Any idea on deserialization of workbook xml in analysis.
    Any idea where is metadata saved in analysis. is it in form of some hidden script object just as in BEx 7.0

    Hi Pramod,
    Since you have several sheets in this workbook, have you checked the number of custom styles?
    Please check the SAP note http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1899658
    According to the note, too many styles slow down Analysis for Office.
    The note also contains a macro that you can run on your workbook to delete the custom styles if you want to check.

  • I am trying to run my registered CS6 Design Standard programs for the first time after install. InDesign runs OK, but Illustrator and Photoshop will only run in trail mode. How do I activate those two?

    I can't get my registered versions of CS6 Photoshop and Illustrator to run in full mode. I installed CS6 Design Standard online end of June (an upgrade from CS5.5), on my old MacBook Pro. I didn't run the programs then as I was waiting on arrival of new MacBook Pro. I migrated the programs from my old MacBook to the new, and today tried to run those programs for the first time. InDesign work OK (after an initial hiccup) but Illustrator and Photoshop will only run in trial mode, and won't let me save files. My CS6 Design Standard shows with it's registration in my Adobe Account. All seems in order, but Illustrator and Photoshop won't run in registered mode. Can you please help?

    Please use the uninstallers to remove your current installation.  They are located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.  Once the uninstall is complete you will also want to run the CC Cleaner Tool.  You can find more details at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
