DAC 10.1.3.4.1 Server on Windows (64 bit) and Linux x86 (64 bit)?

Hi Friends,
Please confirm wheteher Oracle Business Intelligence Data Warehouse Administration Console 10.1.3.4.1 Server is supported on
Windows (64 bit) and Linux x86 (64 bit)
Because from edelivery.oracle.com i could see the downloads only for windows and Linux and not specified as 32/64 - bit
so will it mean that the same dump is used for both 32 and 64 bit
1) Oracle Business Intelligence Data Warehouse Administration Console 10.1.3.4.1 for Microsoft Windows (V16377-01)
can the above dump is used for both 32 and 64 bit windows?
2) Oracle Business Intelligence Data Warehouse Administration Console 10.1.3.4.1 for Linux x86 (V16378-01)
can the above dump is used for both 32 and 64 bit Linux?
The reason is because for OBIA 7.9.6.3 configuration both the Informatica Power Centre and DAC Server should co-exist
and i could see seperate installer for 32 and 64 bit for both Windows and Linux whereas i couldn't see it for DAC Server
Please confirm .
Regards,
DB

It is supported on both platforms. With Linux however, if you have any issues you can to install in a windows environment, then copy over the folder structure. Also, you can possibly run into issues running the setup.exe on 64bit windows. When you open the install directory, go to dac/disk1/install and run the executable for win32. win64bit can return an error where it says it cannot create certain temp directories. It is a known java bug you can find in the support website.

  • Oracle Client 64-bit and Oracle Client 32-bit on the same server

    Hi,
I have a Windows 2008 server 64-bit with Oracle Client 64-bit and Oracle Client 32-bit installed on different directories (D:\Oracle and D:\Oracle32)
Is it possible to define for certain applications to use the TNSNAMES entry from the 64-bit Oracle Client
and for other applications to use the TNSNAMES entry from the 32-bit Oracle Client
Once I installed the Oracle Client 32-bit (Oracle Client 64-bit version was already installed) and restarted the server I performed a TNSPING and it defaulted to the Oracle Client 32-bit installation path
    Thanks,
    Barry

    Hello,
When you install a new client on a server, it will update the PATH variable, and add the ORACLE_HOME\bin path to it, at the first place. That explains why the tnsping use the last installed ORACLE_HOME.
What you can do if you want only to change the default path to the tnsnames is to set the environment variable TNS_ADMIN to the path where the tnsnames you want to use is located. You can modify this variable in your application if you want to use another tnsnames.
If you want switch from 32 bits to 64 bits client, then you have to modify the PATH variable.
    Hope this will help.
    Best regards,
    Sylvie

  • Problems with setting up my ISP's mail server in Windows Live Mail and Thunderbird

The laptop is a G60-535DX with Windows 7  64 bit. I've managed to setup my gmail account fine in Live Mail, but when setting  up my ISP' mail server, it doesn't work. I get the message that the information was entered correctly, and I see the 'connecting' at the bottom of the page, and then 'error', and clicking on it shows a socket error #10061. In Thunderbird, I get a timeout error message. I've entered all the incoming and outgoing server information correctly, (I've done this over 8-9 times now), the ports are the defaults(110,25), no SSL, no authentication. I've talked with my ISP several times. Just a couple of hours ago was the last time. Their only other possibilities were that Live Mail had problems with setting up more than one account, that Live Mail needed updating, that Windows 7 was a new operating system and there were 'kinks'. I removed the gmail account, set up the ISP's mail by itself; didn't help. I checked for Live Mail updates, but found out that they all come from Windows updates(which are current).  The folks on PCQ&A inform me that they have 3 or 4 accounts with Live Mail. I can get my mail, by logging onto my ISP's website, but that' kind of a nuisance. I posted this in Seven Forums and they didn't have any ideas. As I said, I also can't get my mail server to work in Thunderbird, either.  I don't know what else to try. (short of activating the recovery partition and starting from scratch). Any ideas would be more that welcome.
    Thanks,
    Steve

Nevermind, it's fixed. One of the guys on PCQ&A suggested going to my ISP's website to see if they had a support page. They did and it stated that under certain circumstances that for the login ID the whole email address should be entered. For XP and Outlook Express one only uses the first part of the email address (your name); so just for grins I entered the whole address, name and all and everyting worked. Called my ISP and was told that that wasn't the way it's supposed to work. Well----

  • HTTP Server for Windows 64 bit not on the companion CD

    Hi,
I cannot find the HTTP Server for Windows 64 bit on the companion CD. Any idea where I can get it from? For the 32bit version the HTTP Server is on the Companion CD.
    Thanks in advance,

If i am correct reason should be : Oracle Application Server 10g will run as a 32-bit application
Following platforms have the same media in either case:
    Microsoft Windows 32-bit and EM64T/AMD64
(Not Itanium-64, which is separate and referred to as "Windows 64-bit")
    Linux x86 and Linux x86-64
Solaris Sparc 32-bit and Solaris Sparc 64-bit
As the Oracle Application Server 10g will be run as a 32-bit application. See the Installation Guide or readme files for any specific steps on these 64-bit platforms.

  • SQL Server 2005 64 bit and Oracle 9

    Hi,
I have a situation which involves SQL Server 2005 64 bit and Oracle 9 32 bit,
I have a requirement that involves creating Stored Procedures from Oracle 9 which will call tables from SQL Server 2005 64 bit, with operations involving 'Select' 'Insert' 'Update' and 'Delete'.
it works fins, except when attempting to search for an SQL Server 'varchar' value, wher no mapping is done
though the Oracle sees the field as 'varchar2'
can anyone please advice on this
    thanks
    Basel

I think you're somehow not getting a resuklt because you're query doesn't return any data.
Why the fiealdA=pat=parameterA construct? Wouldn't it just work if you changed it to fieldA=parameterA?
Also, can you not just define parameterA as a varchar to make them match?
What if you do "select * from (<your query without where>) a where a.fieldA = :parameterA"
While not efficient, it would make the filtering occur in Oracle and maybe that will let you see the problem in native Oracle land and then reuse the solution in your orginal query. If that doesn't work, drop the where clause and inspect the data closly and hardcode a simple where without using PL*SQL or bind variables.

  • DAC Server As Windows Service in 7.6.1

    Hi Everyone,
I hope this is an easy question. I was hoping to start the DAC Server on a Windows Server 2003 64bit OS as a service. When I run startserver.bat and log off, the DAC Server dies and I don't want to leave a user logged in all the time so I would like to run the DAC Server as a Windows Service.
    I found this blog: http://obiee-tips.blogspot.com/2010/06/dac-server-as-service-in-101341.html
He shows me how to do it using that javaservice command, which I'm not entirely opposed to, however, is this the correct way to do it? Is it supported by Oracle?
I couldn't find anything to in the documentation that indicated the correct route to take. Ironcially, it shows how to nohup on Unix/Linux but it doesn't show the equivilent for windows. Were they just being lazy?
    Thanks for the help.
    -Joe

    Joe,
In most of OBIEE/OBIA implementations, I have seen customers using javaservice to setup OC4J & DAC server as a Windows service. I never heard of any objections from Oracle, but used to let the client know that this was not a part of Oracle Documentation.
    DAC Server as Windows Service
    call config.bat
    javaservice -install "Oracle BI DAC Server Service" "<Java path>\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll" -Xms256m -Xmx1024m "-Djava.class.path=%DAC_CLASSPATH%"
"-Duser.dir=%DAC_HOME%" -start com.siebel.etl.net.QServer -description "Oracle BI DAC Server Service"

I have installed DAC 11g on windows32 bit(winodws 7) but I coouldn't able to start the server in windows. In All Programs I can see only client application under Oracle Business Intelligence Data Warehouse Administration Console 11g folder. I cannot see start server/stop server which used to come in DAC 10g.
I tried to start the server from windows batch file startserver but it's showing an error windows cannot find '-server'. Make sure you tyoed the name correctly, and then try again.
Could any please come guide me one above issue. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    startserver.bat call another file (config.bat)
Make sure DAC home and Java Home are set properly in it.
In my cause following config worked in config.bat file.
    set JAVA_HOME=C:\Progra~1\Java\jdk1.6.0_25
    set DAC_HOME="E:\DAC\dac"
Make sure you have installed proper version of JDK (i.e 64bit version for 64 bit OS)

Yes, of course. Both versions works but you have to be prepared for lots of RAM.

  • How to install Oracle VM Server 2.2.0 as 32-bit mode on a 64-bit machine.

    Gurus,
If I am not wrong, the Oracle VM Server 2.2.0 installer for 32-bit and 64-bit are the same file.
I have AMD 64 bit machine, when I install Oracle VM Server 2.2.0, it installs as 64-bit.
However due to requirement, I want to install Oracle VM Server in 32-bit mode.
    Will appreciate the steps.
    Regards,
    Krishna

    Krishna,
Please note that the zip file from the Oracle eDelivery/Linux site contains a single Oracle VM server ISO file; this file is used for both x86 and x86-64 hardware. The Oracle VM server install routine automatically detects the hardware platform and installs the appropriate 32-bit or 64-bit Xen hypervisor. Regardless of the hardware platform, 32-bit or 64-bit, dom0 is 32-bit. Will a 32bit dom0 meet your business requirements?
Could you please let us know the business requirements re 32bit?
For details about the installation, sizing and server resource requirements please review http://itnewscast.com/chapter-4-oracle-vm-server-sizing-installation-and-updates

  • Migration from Oracle 9i 32 bit to Oracle 10G 64 bit on Windows 2003 Server

I am working on migrating Oracle 9i 32 bit to Oracle 10G 64 bit on Windows 2003 from Old server to new server. We have db around 500 GB and 3 schemas. I installed Oracle 10G on new server, created tablespaces, schema's blah blah and now doing export and import at schema level from old server to new server.
Import is taking more than 4 to 5 hours on new server. My manager is saying, window time is bit longer and he wants me to try possiblities to make this process faster. Can some one help me on this, to use the best possible method to complete this process faster?
Will below step work, if I try?
If I install, oracle 9i and 10g both on new server in different home directories and take the hot backup from old machine and restore on new machine in 9i home directory and use the upgrade configuration assistant from 10g and do the upgrade? Pls advice.

    It looks good.
I have one question in below steps:
To migrate an Oracle9i or older database to an Oracle Database 10g Release 1 (10.1) database for 64-bit Windows:
    1 Perform steps 1 - 11 in "Migrating an Oracle Database 10g Release 1 (10.1) Database".
2 Shut down the database on the 64-bit computer:
    SQL> SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE;
    3 Start the database migration:
    SQL> STARTUP MIGRATE;
4 Migrate the database as described in Chapter 3, "Upgrading a Database to the New Oracle Database 10g Release" in Oracle Database Upgrade Guide.
In step 4, it says, migrate database as described in chapter 3. In chapter 3, it says, to do the upgrade the process using dbca or manually. Pls confirm whether do the upgrade process after issuing startup migrate or not.
    Thanks in advance.

  • What is difference between 32 bit and 64 bit sql server memory management

What is difference between 32 bit and 64 bit sql server memory management
    Thanks
    Shashikala

This is the basic difference...check if helps:
A 32-bit CPU running 32-bit software (also known as the x86 platform) is so named because it is based on an architecture that can manipulate values that are up to 32 bits in length. This means that a 32-bit memory pointer can store a value between 0 and
4,294,967,295 to reference a memory address. This equates to a maximum addressable space of 4GB on 32-bit platforms
On the other hand 64-bit limit of 18,446,744,073,709,551,616, this number is so large that in memory/storage terminology it equates to 16 exabytes. You don’t come across that term very often, so to help understand the scale, here is the value converted to
    more commonly used measurements: 16 exabytes = 16,777,216 petabytes (16 million PB)➤ 17,179,869,184 terabytes (17 billion TB)➤ 17,592,186,044,416 gigabytes (17 trillion GB)➤
As you can see, it is significantly larger than the 4GB virtual address space usable in 32-bit systems; it’s so large in fact that any hardware capable of using it all is sadly restricted to the realm of science fiction. Because of this, processor manufacturers
decided to only implement a 44-bit address bus, which provides a virtual address space on 64-bit systems of 16TB. This was regarded as being more than enough address space for the foreseeable future and logically it’s split into an 8TB range for user mode
and 8TB for kernel mode. Each 64-bit process running on an x64 platform will be able to address up to 8TB of VAS.
