Dad gave me his old iphone, cant start it up or activate?
he gave me his old one when he got a new one, it is locked to Telia but solved that it will be unlocked within a day or 2, but i cant restore it or access it on my computer? whats up ? i want to use it and i should be able to use the ipod functions but not calling, do i need the original sim to restore it ? please help

Who did you pay? Only Telia can unlock your phone. If you paid some random person on the street or some website, you are being scammed.
If it is legitimately unlocked, as in, through Telia, you can use any SIM to activate. If you don't want to wait, you will need a Telia SIM. However, it does not have to be an active SIM.

You (or he) didn't clear the phone before you started using it. He must sign out of Settings/iCloud, then you can go to settings/General/Reset - Erase all content and settings.
When you set it up use your Apple ID, not his. See: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer - Apple Support -

just got an iphone 4 from my dad and its his old iphone and i was gonna delete his account so i can put my account on the iphone but he does not remember the password so I couldnt delete it. I need help deleting it without a password.
If the iPad has Activation Lock - that is, it's asking for the previous owner's Apple ID and password to activate the device or to turn off Find My iPhone - then you will need that information. There's no way around it If your father can't remember the password, he'll need to recover it.

My Dad gave me his old Macbook Pro and I downloaded another version of Lion so it's tied to my ID and it worked but I cannot download any iLife apps at all? It doesn't even give me a choice to purchase it just say accept? And gives me a dropbox that says that these apps are tied to another ID and I need to log into that ID in order to download it.

This is a common issue with second hand Macs. The iLife apps came bundled free on this Mac and they are registered to your dad's Apple ID. The only way for you to acept them into your Apple ID is for you and your dad to contact Apple Care, explain that he has passed the Mac to you and ask that the iLife apps be released from your dad's Apple ID so that you may accept them into your Apple ID. -

thank u 4 yr help , i have managed to do it after all. i downloaded the iphone 3gs ios 4.2 manual and it explained everything i had to do on there ... all i had to do was put my sim into phone ,then connect usb lead and then open my i tunes , i clicked on my iphone and went into summery and straight away it synchronized my phone and yay up popped my sim card and ready to use ('',) many thanks though 4 yr help wendy

Hi my friend gave me his iphone 1 today and its stuck at the apple boot logo. Some times it automatically shuts off but about a second later is comes back on. The home button and the power button seem to not be responsive. Thanks for the help.
You bought a used iPhone. Amazon is not an authorized supplier of iPhones, nor are any of the 3rd parties that sell iPhones there.
You can make an appointment at the genius bar and have it looked at.
If you are very very lucky, it is still under warranty and it wasn't opened or otherwise tampered with before you bought it. In which case, Apple will replace it under warranty.
If it's not under warranty, they will replace it for $199.
If it has been opened or tampered with, they won't touch it. -

My daughter gave me her old iPhone 3G. I started loading my own info before doing a complete "Reset". My iMac at home now give me a message that it is time to Sync 432 Contacts. They happen to be my daughters contacts. The window has no Cancel or Delete option. How do I get rid of or stop the Sync other than let it go and then start deleting them? Help! Ron
or... put your photos in "My Pictures" in My Documents, and viola, itunes syncs it to the iphone. only one sentence needed =/

That's because you both are using the same Apple ID for iCloud(yours). Your son deleted your contacts & added his, & as far as iCloud knows, its the same person & that's the way things are supposed to work...keeps everything in sync across all of your devices.
Your son needs his own Apple ID for iCloud, FaceTime & iMessage...this will prevent this from happening again.
As far as recovering your contacts, unless they are in a supported application somewhere else, they are most likely gone. -
