  • Schedule the daily backup from Monday to Saturday?

         CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO RECOVERY WINDOW OF 7 DAYS;
         allocate channel ch1 type disk format '/u02/db/backup/RMAN/backup_%d_%t_%s_%p_%U.bck';
         backup incremental level 1 cumulative database plus archivelog delete all input;

    Command to execute (how to execute the command)
    Best Regards,

    Hi,
    Firstly, if you are using recovery catalog, then create rman scripts and In case you dont have recobery catalog, then add the backup script in the .sh file .
    Then create .sh file and not to forget add environment variable for oracle in that .sh file.
    Then schedule that file with cron and format you know for the cron.
    Make sure cron is started on the machine.
    Example for .sh file is
    export ORACLE_SID=<ORACLE_SID>
    export path=<ORACLE_PATH>
    rman<<EOF
    connect target sys/<password
    run{
    body
    but the best way is to go for rman backup scripts using recobery catalog
    THanks,
    Navneet

  • SAP Server Backups from Emergency Area

    One of our clients is stuck in a emergency area. It is impossible to move the server right now to some safe place. Client has very limited internet access. Database backups are impossible to send. So what options we have to take as backup? Should we take daily TB and PNL reports or GL Ledger Balances Report and email these for safety reasons? Please advise.

    Hi,
    Please refer available back up types and choose as per your condition.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • I can't restore my data from my iphone5s or ipad to my new iphone6, because it woulkd seem that none of the available backups from icloud are compatible with iOS 8.0.2, which is what the new iphone is running. (or so it seems).

    Just received my iphone6, as my iphone5s gave up the ghost. Completely. I now want to restore everything that I had on my old phone to my new new one using icloud. However, when I arrive at the screen that asks you to select a backup version, it shows me a list, but then at the bottom of the screen there is a message that says that 'no icloud backups are compatible with the version of (8.0.2) on this iphone.' I also have an ipad, and both the 5 and the ipad were updated to 8.1. I did try to back up via itunes, but only got some of my photos's back and none of my messages, some of which had essential information on them. Anybody have any idea's? Any help gratefully recieved!

    Your iPhone's iOS must be same or newer than the one in backups. In your case it is older so you need to update your iPhone and then recover it with backup.

  • RMAN MONTHLY/WEEKLY/DAILY backups

    Hi,
    Using RMAN how can I schedule MONTHLY/WEEKLY/DAILY backups.
    We are using TIVOLI for our backups.
    I want to keep the monthly/weekly backups in seperate tapes so that I can use later.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    You will nedd to create 3 RMAN backups using TAGs and congifure Tivoli to put MONTHLY/WEEKLY/DAILY backup on different tapes using the TAGs that you created.
    Example of backups:
    DAILY
    run{
    allocate channel t1 device type sbt_tape parms 'ENV=(TDPO_OPTFILE=/opt/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64/tdpo_SID.opt)';
    allocate channel t2 device type sbt_tape parms 'ENV=(TDPO_OPTFILE=/opt/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64/tdpo_SID.opt)';
    backup
    incremental level 1
    format 'BKP_HOT_DAILY_SID_%U'
    database
    tag 'DAILY_SID';
    backup current controlfile format 'BKP_CTL_DAILY_SID_%U';
    WEEKLY
    run{
    allocate channel t1 device type sbt_tape parms 'ENV=(TDPO_OPTFILE=/opt/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64/tdpo_SID.opt)';
    allocate channel t2 device type sbt_tape parms 'ENV=(TDPO_OPTFILE=/opt/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64/tdpo_SID.opt)';
    backup
    incremental level 0
    format 'BKP_HOT_WEEKLY_SID_%U'
    database
    tag 'WEEKLY_SID';
    backup current controlfile format 'BKP_CTL_WEEKLY_SID_%U';
    MONTHLY
    run{
    allocate channel t1 device type sbt_tape parms 'ENV=(TDPO_OPTFILE=/opt/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64/tdpo_SID.opt)';
    allocate channel t2 device type sbt_tape parms 'ENV=(TDPO_OPTFILE=/opt/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64/tdpo_SID.opt)';
    backup
    incremental level 0
    format 'BKP_HOT_MONTHLY_SID_%U'
    database
    tag 'MONTHLY_SID' keep forever logs;
    backup current controlfile format 'BKP_CTL_MONTHLY_SID_%U';

  • I'm having some difficulty with Time Machine.  It appears to be deleting backups from random dates on my external hard drive.  I am not deleting them.  Are they hidden and how do I prevent this from happening?  Can I retrieve them?

    I'm having some difficulty with Time Machine.  It appears to be deleting backups from random dates on my external hard drive.  I am not deleting them.  Are they hidden and how do I prevent this from happening?  Can I retrieve them?

    ... I didn't know that Time Machine was more a last resort back up instead of main back up.
    Don't rely upon Time Machine to the exclusion of all else. I compliment Time Machine with a periodic "clone". TM is much better than nothing, but it's a safety net, not a hammock
    Here is my understanding of Time Machine's file deletion algorithm, distilled from Pondini's FAQ, Apple's KB articles, and my own observations.
    Time Machine deletes ("thins") files from the backup disk as follows:
    Hourly backups over 24 hours old, except the first backup of the day
    Daily backups over 30 days old, except the first backup of the week
    Older backups get deleted when Time Machine requires space and you deleted them from the source disk.
    Therefore, assuming TM has been performing at least one backup per day, backup files will remain available:
    at least thirty days, if they existed on your Mac for at least a day
    until you run out of space, if they existed on your Mac for at least a week
    In addition to the above, Time Machine always keeps one complete copy of your source disk so that the entire volume could be restored if necessary. Any files that remain on your source volume will be present on the TM backup, no matter how old they are.
    If you are using 250 GB of space on your source disk, its Time Machine backups are likely to require at least twice that much. A good estimate of the minimum required backup volume size would be about three times the size of your source disk - 1.5 TB in your case.
    A more thorough explanation would require Pondini since he has plumbed Time Machine's mysteries far more than I have.

  • What is the best approach to take daily backup of application from CQ5 Server ?

    Hello,
    How to maintain daily backup to maintain the data from server.
    What is the best approach.
    Regards,
    Satish Sapate.

    Linking shared from ryan should give enough information.
    If case backing up large repository you may know Data Store store holds large binaries and are only stored once. To reduce the backup time remove the datastore from the backup by following [1] (CQ 5.3 example)
    [1] In order to remove the datastore from the backup you will need to do the following:
    Assuming your repository is under /website/crx/repository and you want to move your datastore to /website/crx/datastore
        stop the crx instance
        mv /website/crx/repository/shared/repository/datastore /website/crx/
        Then modify repository.xml by adding the new path configuration to the DataStore element.
    Before:
    <DataStore class="org.apache.jackrabbit.core.data.FileDataStore">
    <param name="minRecordLength" value="4096"/>
    </DataStore>
    After:
    <DataStore class="org.apache.jackrabbit.core.data.FileDataStore">
    <param name="path" value="/website/crx/datastore"/>
    <param name="minRecordLength" value="4096"/>
    </DataStore>
    After doing this then you can safely run separate backups on the datastore while the system is running without affecting performance very much.
    Following our example, you could use rsync to backup the datstore:
    rsync --av --ignore-existing /website/crx/datastore /website/backup/datastore

  • Restoring notes (in Notes app) from a daily backup

    While setting up a new iPhone, iCloud duplicated my Contacts entries (contacts and the groups they were contained in) and my notes in Notes.  These duplicates appeared on both the phone and my laptop.  After some time I was able to get rid of the extra contacts by working with Apple Customer Service.  It wasn't until this morning I noticed my notes were also duplicated.  I started deleting the copied notes thinking I was going about things the correct way so I'd be left with just one of each but apparently I was wrong. As I was eliminating the 9th or 10th I looked up and saw all those notes I'd just pared down were now entirely gone.  iCloud was working to update right behind me and deleted the remaining notes, as well.
    I don't use Time Machine with Mavericks because it slows this machine down horribly but I do a daily backup each night  What I need to know is where in  my Library my Notes are stored.  I'll drag and drop that file/those files from the backup hard drive to my MBPro's Library.
    Hope someone can get back to be soon.
    many thanks,
    Alex

    Come on, folks.  I'm sure most of you know the location Apple stores application databases changed with Mavericks.  Wouldn't take too long for someone to send word on where I need to look for the Notes .plist.  Or any files I need to switch out.
    - thanks, again

  • HT1766 4 voice memos in iTunes backup from iPhone had ! marks and would not play so I deleted them and although they are still on the iPhone, they will not sync back to iTunes from iPhone.

    4 voice memos in iTunes backup from iPhone had ! marks and would not play so I deleted them and although they are still on the iPhone, they will not sync back to iTunes from iPhone.

    You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

  • I don't have very much space left on my iCloud backup. I had a previous iPhone, my current iPhone and my iPad that are all connected to one cloud. Can I delete the backup from my previous iPhone? Will it delete in the cloud AND on the phone?

    I had a previous iPhone, my current iPhone and my iPad that are all connected to one cloud. Can I delete the backup from my previous iPhone? Will it delete in the cloud AND on the phone? or does it just delete from iCloud? or does it just delete from the phone? Someone please help!

    You can delete the backup without any problem. Only the backup will be deleted from iCloud and nothing else will be deleted, so you can do it without worrying about losing data on iCloud or your devices

  • I had to reformat my OSX 10.5.8 and i can't restore my emails from my time machine backup from an external hard drive - only the latest (post backup) time machine back ups are available to restore. Please can any help

    I had to reformat my OSX 10.5.8 and I can't restore my emails from my time machine backup from an external hard drive - only the latest (post backup) time machine back ups are available to restore. Please can any help? I can find the mail folder in my libraries, but the Restore Button is grayed out

    OSX treats the reformatted drive as a different one; it's the same as replacing it, and the old one is no longer connected.
    See #E3 in  Time Machine - Troubleshooting to see and restore from the "old" drive.
    And, you may not want to restore via the Finder; see the blue box in #15 of  Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.

    Sorry no as you wipe the current data when you restore from your backup.

  • After an erroneous contacts delete on the mac, they've been removed from icloud and all the synced devices. I was able to restore the contacts from a backup, but since the iCloud version is newer than the backuped one, they are deleted every iCloud sync

    After an erroneous contacts delete on the mac, they've been removed from iCloud and all the synced devices.
    I was able to restore the contacts from a backup, but since the iCloud version is newer than the backuped one, they are deleted every iCloud sync.
    Now I have an iPhone with the contacts and iCloud deactivated, but I lost all the contacts on the Mac and the iPad.
    There is a way to tell iCloud "restart using the contacts I have on this device"?

    An iCloud backup will save the state of your Camera Roll at the time of the backup but, if you delete photos from the Camera Roll, they will not be in the next backup taken.
    If you are using the iCloud Photo Library (beta) read this FAQ which will tell you what happens when you delete photos from one of the devices sharing the Photo Library.
    iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support
    The relevant section is:
    How does iCloud delete photos and videos from iCloud Photo Library?
    Deleting a photo or video from your Photos app will also remove the item from iCloud Photo Library and from your iCloud storage allocation. Photos and videos you remove can be recovered from the Recently Deleted album for 30 days. After 30 days, your content will be removed from the Recently Deleted album. Photos are backed up on our servers for up to 30 days after they're deleted from the Photos app. If you need to recover these photos during that time, contact Apple Support.

    You cannot update iPhone 4 to IOS 8.1.2, the highest you can update is IOS 7.1.2.
    Unless you've iPhone 4S (looks similar to iPhone 4)
