Daily journal/diary

I am looking for a program that would enable me to keep job numbers ,description and hours on each job per day.
Thanks

I found this post with some diary/journal apps
http://www.berryreview.com/2008/07/10/dear-diary-you-have-got-to-be-kidding-me/
You could also use the Memopad on the BlackBerry as it's already included with the device

  • Personal Journal/Diary on my Macbook Besides Using Pages?

Is there any downloadable program out there for a personal journal/diary for me to type in while using my mac?
so far ive been using pages. the journal is more of creative writing ideas, but still, i'd like some kind of online typing journal thing.
    Help?
    :]

    December,
Yeah, there are several of them. One of the most popular can be downloaded right here.

  • Which Journaling/Diary program do you prefer?

    -----
I'd like to get some opinions on which Journeling or Diary programs for the Mac platform others like, and why. Thanks for any opinions I can get.
I'm currently using the trial version of viJournal. Anybody using that?
    -----

Do you have a toolbox? If i ask you to give me a better tool what would you do? I think the first question you would ask me is "what will you be using the tool for?" Not much point giving me hammer if I'm trying to cut something.
So, if you can tell me what you want to use this app for, then we can suggest apps that might be appropriate.

  • Diary / journal app

I'm looking for an droid app similar to the Iphones MOMENTO - its a journal diary app that connects my journal entries w/ my photos, my facebook profiles, it has tagging capability, rate moments, backup and export.  Any suggestions welcomed.

Someone will eventually mention Evernote, might as well be me. Evernote is a pretty universal note-taking app, works across pretty much all platforms including Mac, iOS, and has a web interface as well. You can get plugins for specific tasks, not sure if a diary plugin is out there. You can include photos, pdf's, webpages pretty much whatever external content you would like.
I use Evernote for everything from storing important files to keeping my daily journals.
Yes, it is free in the basic version which should handle your journalling needs, you can buy an upgraded version with more storage and bandwidth if you got to that point.

  • Application to write journal or diary on my iPhone?

I use my iPhone and PowerBook everyday, and just wondering if there is an application I can write a journal or diary on iPhone or my PowerBook. I just know "Notes" for having some notes, and "iCal" for leaving some short notes on their notes section (but if I leave notes in a certain date in iCal, it is marked at a new event...)

  • Keeping a personal diary/journal

I'm working on an exciting project and I want to document what happens every day. Is iCal the best format? If so, is there a special software for journal/diary writing? Thanks.

    ark - 1,
I would recommend something like MacJournal : Mac journaling & Mac blog software., instead of iCal.
    ;~)

  • Diary/journal application

I'm looking for an application for my iPhone and iPad that is a journal or diary application like penultimate that syncs between my iPhone and iPad as well as it allows for me to actually use a keyboard to type and still allows me to drawl and add pictures. Maybe even prompts me during the day to add to it?
If anyone knows an application like this please let know!
    Thanks all!!

  • Going to try something silly...

I'm getting seriously annoyed with window managers in general lately and their quirks, be it Linux based, or good old Winders.  I sat back and took a look at what I typically do on a day to day basis, and I thought to myself "I think its time to go on a timewarp."
Call it masochistic (or just stupid), as an experiment I'm going to try, for a month anyway, to run 100% console mode.  No Windows.  No Gnome/KDE.  No Firefox.  Good lord, no World of Warcraft.  I have a Wii and XBox upstairs when the craving for mindless gaming hits me.  I'm not going to rule out old DOS games via DosBox and the like though.
I was weaned as a kid on TRSDOS, wayyyy back with the Model 1, then moved onto MSDOS 2.1, and was a Microsoft drone all the way to the present day.   I'm not scared of a console; I used to live with it daily, and I got stuff done and I had fun.  (BBS's, text adventures, programming, later on DOS games when VGA came out with the jaw-dropping 256 color display)
I'll still have Gnome installed, I'm just disabling GDM and the like from starting up on boot.  In a pinch I'll fire it up, but going to really try to avoid doing that for the month.  Plus, if anything, this should be seriously educational, as I can't point and click my way thru things anymore.
My biggest problem is that I didn't grow up with Linux, it was DOS, and I really don't know a lot of what's out there for the console world.  So, I'm basically looking for suggestions on good console based applications.
I know for example about Lynx for browsing the web.  I'm mediocre with Nano.  (Grew up with the Wordstar keystrokes; trying to find something close to that)  But after that, I'm kinda stuck.
Looking for ideas/recommendations on apps, like an audio players and the like.  Are Linux console apps able to switch into a graphic mode?  IE, picture viewers, movie players, etc?  And I don't mean cheating by loading up a GTK app from the console.  Also looking for a console based journal/diary type software; I use one to track stuff I do for clients; I saw one a long time ago that was GTK or console based, but for the life of me can't find it again with Google.  Newsgroup and mail readers?  I just don't know what all's out there, and Google pretty much gives you current stuff of course for GTK or QT.
    Thanks for any suggestions

I realise the point here is to avoid a mouse, however, even in ncurses-type apps (mc, midnight commander) a mouse is useful.  So I use gpm.  I would probably die if I couldn't use mc in a console, as its saved my ass from the fire many times with its lovely menus & trash-like behaviour when deleting things.
The other editor you may wish to use is pico which can be easily set to use wordstar bindings.  (Aside, pico was developed by a wordstar dev, iirc.)  I also very happy to use rsync, as my other method of dealing with files (moving, copying, backing up...etc).  I think axyftp is a client (haven't got it installed so look this one up), and if not try ncftp.
[edit] Coincidentally I found a podcast that may interest you and others from a website called Linux Reality.  Give it a listen if you want to hear a podcast all about command line use & applications for it.  http://www.linuxreality.com/podcast/epi … -line-fun/

  • Bluetooth Keyboard driver disables Palm Tx Alarm function

    Dear Folks,
I have had a Palm TX for quite a while, and I use it frequently for e-mail and access on the road.  During a recent trip, my Universal I/R keyboard died, and I picked up a new Palm Bluetooth keyboard 3245WW.  I've noticed that when the keyboard driver is enabled, my Alarm function no longer works!  The Palm turns on at the appointed time, but unless one manually selects the "!" icon, the alarm never sounds.  This doesn't happen when the driver is disabled.  It took quite a while to figure this out...
It's interesting that when the bluetooth keyboard is apparently working fine and I'm inside of Versamail trying to answer a message, the first keystroke sometimes crashes the program and causes a soft reboot of the Palm.
Note:  I have left the IR driver on the Palm, but it is turned off.  I also have Documents to Go version 8.003 on the Palm.
Any ideas?  I have the most recent Bluetooth Driver (11.08).
    Thanks,
    Curt B.

    Hi brenec,
just curious, did you fix your problem? Did it resolve the problem with crashing the device?
I have the Bluetooth keyboard since about 2 weeks and in principle it is working great. However, I experienced that the Palm crashes and does a soft reboot more often than usual. In particular this happens when I am typing some text on the keyboard. As far as I can tell, this happens when writing text using Documents to Go 7.00?, but it might also happen in other applications; the problem is that I use the keyboard almost exclusively with Documents to Go.  Luckily this does not happen all the time, but on the other hand, I already lost text that I typed on the Palm.
One pecularity is (and that reminds me to the Alarm problem) that I noticed that the Palm switches on by itself. No alarms are showed or something similar, just the screen lights up. The Palm did this even before using the Bluetooth keyboard.
I use the keyboard quite often as some kind of daily journal and to think loud (brainstorming). I find the smallness of the device very nice and that the Palm is ready to work after switching on. I used the Universal Wireless Keyboard before and didn't had these crashes. I removed the old infrared keyboard driver, but I did not do a "spring clean".
Any idea? If I can't fix the problem, I need to go for an alternative platform after 10 years of having had a Palm device :-(

  • Apple script is stuck working with Numbers

    Hello, everyone
    I need some help.
I wrote a script what was supposed to do perform following:
I receive a Numbers-format file imported to my Mac from iPad with iTunes
This file is a sort of daily journal. Every row includes info about one particular client. A name of the client is in column 2. The file name is always "Blank.numbers" and the table name is always "Blank". I need to copy this table in a new file and collect the data for each client in a different table . In other word i need to make new tables in a new file and copy client info in its own table.
The script is below. It seems to work right (it makes a new file, makes some tables, puts correct info into them) but one thing happens  - it's stuck in a little while after run. Sure, I reloaded my Mac and not ones but nothing at all - zero effect, the same thing happened over again, after the script successfully worked it  was stuck and i just could see "running". My test data file consists of just up to 40 rows, but I've never had this work completely done.
Not much scriptwriter of myself - it's just my very first experience in the subject and I have no clue about why it could be, so I'll appreciate for any suggestion

    Hello
Then I have no idea why the script hangs after it has done the job.
    Some thoughts.
    • Is it the same in different user account?
    • If you force quit the script, is the resulting new document fine? In other words, is the problem limited to the termination of the script? You can quit a running script by means of i) pressing command + period, which will signal to cancel the execution of the script or ii) killing the process (editor or applet) by Activity Monitor.
Anyway, I have done some clean up and optimization of your script as listed below although I can see no reason for these changes to solve the current issue. It is just for my testing and liking for low energy consumption.
Script is revised so that -
    a) it gets the template path indepent of the location of Numbers.app;
    b) it reduces the number of AppleEvents to send for retrieving data from table by means of range reference form (e.g., rows i thru j) and whose filter reference (e.g., rows whose cell i's value = x);
    c) its GetTable() handler now returns 2d arary of values instead of cell references so that it can reduce the number of AppleEvents for dereferencing the cell reference later;
    d) it introduces _main() handler to localise the implicit global variables in run handler (as already explained);
    e) in _main() handler, code is encapsulated in an script object and the script object is executed by "run script" command, which is a known technique to speed up the execution of script when saved as applet. (Actually this only makes the applet run as fast as compiled script run in editor. Without this, applet runs remarkably slower than run in editor.)
Hope this may be of some help.
    Good luck,
    H

  • "Save As" Command in Word for Mac 2011

My Word for Mac 2011 "save as" command no longer defaults to the same file as the main doc. Is there a fix or work around? It used to be when I "Save As" it stayed in the same file. Now it defaults to the root directory: Documents.

Thanks for replying..., but I'm referring to the "Save As" command (unlike the Duplicate in iWorks). When I begin to "save as" a document the current file flashes in the drop down window, but then suddenly reverts to the root directory--Documents. Prior to a recent update, it would--as you suggest, remain in the current file of the document I am "saving as". What makes me suspicious is this 'flash' and switch. (i.e. I use  the previous day's journal entry and "save as" for the current day. These are not to go into the 2014 File in my Journal File. But instead, the "save as" command flashes from the 2014 File the goes all the way back to the Main Documents File.) Do I need to save the daily journal entry as a template to work around this?

  • Font problem after inserting date/time.

Can anyone help me with this problem? I write a daily journal in Times New Roman, 18 pt. However, when I have it insert the date and time it inserts it fine as TNR 18. But if I type the very next character it is TNR 10 pt. How do I prevent this?
    Thanks.
    Paul

Paul, did you by chance change the Body text Paragraph Style to TNR 18? Or is it still set to 10?
If it is set to 10 then while the Date and Time are going to be 18, Pages is reverting back to the normal Body paragraph Style, which is probably 10.
You can get around this by changing your body style, or making a new one called "Entries" which is set to 18.
