Damaged domain in sites folder

Created web site and published to site folder on local machine then uploaded to web site.
Local "domain" in the site folder where iWeb saves some how got corrupted.
Downloaded web site thinking I could rebuild it using iWeb.
Not so lucky.
Is there a way to save the download web site so that iWeb will open it?

iWeb cannot import or read html files, only create them. You'll have to rebuild the site from scratch. However, Chapter 2.3 of the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the published files in the reconstruction of the site.
Do you still have the problem domain file? If so what was the problem?

  • About the Sites folder into Users accounts

    Hi,
I can reach the Sites folder of users if I put a ~ after the domaine name like in : http://mydomain.com/~userx/
How to do the same without having to put the ~ ?
    Thanks

You need to configure apache specifically to do that.
The whole point of the ~ is to gain access to user-specific sites. Without that character (or something similar), Apache can't automatically tell whether http://yourdomain.com/userx is userx's Sites directory, or a directory called '/userx' in the document root.
So, if you want Apache to automatically find user-specific sites you'll need the tilde. If you don't, you'll need to tell apache how to find them (bearing in mind that the user's home directory might not be in /Users - it could be a network home directory, or in some other location.
You might be able to craft something close using RewriteRules (at least to the point of catching missing directories and redirecting to /Users), but getting Apache to lookup a user via directory services to locate thier home directory is beyond RewriteRules as I know them.

  • Using environment variable in local site folder filespec

Configuration: Dreamweaver CC 2014.1; Windows 7
I have quite a few sites defined in Dreamweaver and would like to define the folder locations using environment variables so thst if I decide to reorganize my disk (again) I can just redefine the variable instead of having to modify each of the site definitions. For example, instead of W:\dw\site\, I would like to specify %dw_root%\dw\site\ (where dw_root is defined as "W:"
Attempting to save a configuration with this filespec fails with the error: The local site folder path must be absolute.
I copied the path from the DW configuration dialog box and pasted it into a DOS window as the filespec of a DIR command to confirm the syntax was valid.
Does anyone know if there is a way to make this work?
    Thanks.

Very unlikely.  DW won't tolerate special characters (%&*~).

    Hi Srinivasa,
I guess, you didn't completed the initial setup schemaprep and adprep before starting the installation. You can do it as follows:
    1. Open command Prompt as administrator and browse to the root of installation cd and run Setup.exe /PrepareSchema /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms
    After finishing this,
    2. Setup.exe /PrepareAD /OrganizationName:"<organization name>" /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms
    3. To prepare all domains within the forest run Setup.exe /PrepareAllDomains /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms. If you want to prepare a specific domain run Setup.exe /PrepareDomain:<FQDN of the domain you want to prepare> /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms
    4. Once you complete all of the 3 steps, install the pre-requisities for Exchange 2013
    5. Finally, run the setup program
    Hope this will help you

  • File permissions in Sites folder

When I use my ISP account to host a site and install something like Joomla (a CMS) by uploading it using Transmit or GoLive permissions for directories uploaded default to 755, and are writable by Joomla (for example)
If I upload files to Sites(on another Mac in my network) using GoLive or transmit - the permissions are 750. If I upload the zip file and extract it within terminal, directories are then 755.
Also, directories are not writable even though they're 755 (inlike on my ISP), I need to manually set them to 777. config files for php applications can't be created by the particular application (they can on my ISP), and aren't automatically writeable, I have to create them and set them to 777 to be writeable.
Since I'm completely new to this and not particularly technical, I have no idea why this is happening. Is it specific to the sites folder? Would it be the same if I used the library web documents folder? Is there a way to have this function the same way as it does with my ISP. I have webmin installed, but I get a headache just looking at it.
    Thanks!
    Chris Hutcheson
    G5/2.5 Mac OS X (10.4.6)

As the sites folder resides in a home directory then they follow the permissions set by the owner of that directory.
I dont use the Sites folder to serve webpages on my mac mini I have edited the apache config file to specify a directory in /Library/WebServer however I have just checked the sites folder in my home account and the permissions are 755.
When I copy files across my network over AFP to my sites folder on my server they use the same permissions that they were on set to on the mac I sent them from. For example
If I create a folder on my desktop by default it has 755 permissions. If I then zip the folder the resulting zip file by default has 644 permissions. When I copy the zip file to my sites folder it retains the 644 permission, then when I unzip it also retain the the 755 permissions of the original folder.
When I use FTP it follows the similar rules by default transmit uploads files with default permissions of 640 however when I unzip files the unzipped file retains the permissions that were set on it on the computer that sent it.
You can however in the transmit preferences setup what default permissions you want to use on any file that you transfer. You can specify different permissions on different file types. However this will not affect the contents of zipped files they retain the permissions set prior to them being zipped. Y

  • Can't see my Sites folder

    Hello,
I have an iMac I just bought, running Lion (IOS 10,7,2). When I go to my Home directory I cannot see my Sites folder. Also, If I go to web sharing and click on the top link (personal website) I get a 403 Forbidden page.
Can anyone please help me with this?
    Thank you.

Just found the answer thanks to Lynda.com.

  • Is the Sites folder included in Time Machine backups?

I've learned the hard way that not everything is included in a Time Machine backup.  For example, if you have iPhoto open, a backup will not be made of the photos.  Now that I'm developing websites and storing them in the Sites folder, is it safe to assume that they are being backed up by Time Machine?
    Thanks!

Are documents in iCloud Drive included in Time machine backups
Yes, they are, and the current Yosemite version 10.10.2 makes it easy to find them in Time Machine. Just select iCloud Drive in the Finder, before you enter Time Machine to restore documents.  Time Machine backs up the local shadow copies of your iCloud Drive documents, that are stored in your hidden user library.

  • 403 Forbidden on Apache for a web page in my own encrypted Sites folder

    Greetings,
I'm developing a php web site, putting files in my account's "Sites" folder.
My whole account is encrypted (not by File Vault, but by moving it in an encrypted .dmg by ditto and niutil, instead) and I'd like the web site itself to be, too: for now I want it my eyes only. Everything I use (iApps, etc.) works fine, so I think I adjusted my encrypted home right.
But, I can't view my own web pages in Safari: when I try any location such http://localhost/~myusername[/myfile] I get a 403 Forbidden error.
File permissions seem right and Personal Web Sharing is on. Moreover, if I create a brand new user and move it (via ditto and niutil) in the same encrypted .dmg, it suffers the same fate.
Any other non-encrypted account's web page, e.g. http://localhost/~otherusername is reachable from my encrypted account.
I wonder if all that's about Apache configuration, which I'm not skilled enough to fix.
Thanks to anyone caring to help.

  • How to properly get folders, files into Dreamweaver Defined Site Folder from desktop

I, obviously am a new Dreamweaver user, and I need to know
the proper way of going about getting a folder, files, ect. from my
hard drive into my Dreamweaver defined site folder. I understand
how to insert an image from my hard drive into DW and it shows up
in my site folder in the Files Panel. More specifically, using
Lightbox2, after downloading Lightbox and placing those elements in
a new folder on my hard drive, what is the proper way to get that
    folder into my site folder?
Also, how can I properly add images to an images folder in my
site folder in DW for possible later use, without inserting them on
the page. I know by inserting them on the page from a folder on my
hard drive, Dreamweaver prompts me for DW to recognize them. I
would like to know how I can get them in there and DW to recognize
them without actually inserting them on my page.
And can and how can I move files, images, pages from one site
to another? or should I? Thanks, if anyone can help me with these
    file moving questions.

To restate courtney's explanation, *anything* that you paste
    into the site's
local root folder will appear in DW's File panel, and will be
    considered by
DW to be a part of the site.

  • Where is the Sites folder in Mavericks?

Where is the Sites folder in Mavericks? Only now I am realizing that I don't have a Sites folder where it used to be: Go/Home/Sites
My local website folder used to be in the Sites folder. I am having website-synchronizing problems.
I just started using Mavericks (on one of my hard drives) regularly.

It is part of mail but if missing you could go to the top and pick mailbox and pick new and name that Junk.

  • Where is my site folder

hi friends, im trying to add a statcounter with icomment but i need to know where my site folder is...can somebody tell me where this is at, thanks

If you've published to .Mac it's on your iDisk. The full path is iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/SiteName — if you have more than one site, you'll see separate folders for each site; select the appropriate one.
Do you have a high-speed, always-on connection to the internet? If so, your best bet to simplify access to your iDisk is to mount it on your Desktop using Go > iDisk > My iDisk in the Finder menu. Then you can navigate directly to the iDisk folder when iComment asks for directions.

  • Missing Sites folder - apache

I have had a few problems with the apache built into mac but I think I am closer to the answer, I think I have some how deleted the user/yorkichadwick/Sites folder which is why I get site not found on server.
The Sites folder is still there but I realised all this when I did a ls -ld ~/Sites/
    and I was told
ls: /Users/yorkiechadwick/Sites/: No such file or directory
How can I replace this missing directory?

Thank you, I had been getting advice from so many forums and really thought I had screwed up apche until today when I came acroos this error. I till had a sites folder but it wasn't working who would have thought that such a simple solution would be to create a new sites folder and just shift the files. It is a miracle it worked. So much for all the command line, terminal tapping investigation everyone had been pointing me to.

  • Dreamweaver-upload an image's file name to DB, so it can be retrieved through a site folder

I see a lot of help on how to save a file as a blog in an SQL database.  I would prefer to do it the recommended way, through a site folder.  I have a bunch of pictures that I want to match with various people (for a soccer team), and display those on a detail page.  I have the Dreamweaver Missing Manual, which gives tips on how to create a URL to retrieve the data.
So I have a field in the SQL database for the image, but my question is, when I create a file field on the form, select the image in my folder and click to select it, and submit the form, the file name (or path) doesn't show up in the SQL database or on the Detail page.  I feel like I'm missing one small element, and I hope that's the case.
Thanks in Advance for your help!

To that end, isn't it enough to just update the SQL database of the location of the image, or does there have to be a transfer through the database so that a distinct connection to the image is established?
No. That's not enough.  Two things need to happen:
The image has to be uploaded to a specified location on the server (this is actually a multi-step process)
The name of the image has to be saved in the database
Then your code retrieves the name of the image and uses that name in a link, e.g.,
    <img src="path_to_the_image/<?php echo $rs_whatever['image_name']; ?>" />

  • Apple why did you take the Sites folder with my website in it? Nobody helps!

Since upgrading to Mavericks I lost my local website folder that used to be in the Sites folder!
    Error: Can't connect, check your info! Oh Apple why did you take it? "H E L P  P L E A S E!"

    Thank you Barney-15E
I have no clue why this is or why I am getting this error in Mavericks. All I have is a local website folder in the Sites folder using Dreamweaver CS4 to update my files, working perfect on my other drive running 10.6.8 . Why I cant update and get the error above is the reason I am posting here. (and several other spots)
    You said:
"First off, FTP is disabled in Mavericks, which is why you likely cannot FTP into your local Mac--why are you ftp'ing to the Mac you are working on?"
    You said:
"Your Sites folder is in your Home folder. However, if you created it somewhere else, you'll have to figure that out."
When I say my Sites folder is not in my Home folder you can bank on it. No I never changed any folders in there.
