If I have digital copies of music on my computer that have skips or become distorted, will iTunes Match still match these tracks to undamaged versions?

Zen skips, corrupts tracks?I hope someone can help me with this. I've had my Zen (just the standard "Zen" model, 8gb) for about 4 years now, never had any problems with it, but the day before yesterday I was listening to it in shuffle mode and in a couple of tracks it sort of... blipped? Skipped? It's hard to describe but basically the songs were interrupted by a sort of watery skipping/jerking noise. I thought it was just a momentary thing, but then I went back and listened to the songs and the damage appears to be permanent, the tracks skip in exactly the same places all the time. Now this was only a couple of times with two songs, so I thought maybe the problem would go away, but then yesterday it happened again to the first song I played on a number of occasions. I stuck a pin in the little reset hole thinking that would help, but it seems to have made the problem worse because I listened to an album after that and basically the whole album is ruined because it does the blippy skippy thing at least once on every single song. And it is permanent (not a huge problem considering I back up most of my stuff but there are a few bits and pieces I haven't backed up that I will have to acquire once again, which will cost me money).
Is this a known issue for older Zens? I attempted a Google search but I wasn't quite sure what to search for and got a bunch of unrelated results. Does anyone know what the solution could be? Would a complete reformat help at all or is the thing totally screwed and ready to be replaced (because I'd really hate that)?
I should probably mention that I do listen to it on shuffle quite a lot. And by 'listen' I mean pretty much just skip through the tracks after about 4 seconds of listening to them. Is that healthy for an mp3 player?
I should also add that the version is apparently .03.04e, whatever that means and I am running Windows 7, though I doubt that has anything to do with it.

?I would recommend doing a Cleanup>Reboot(NOTHING ELSE) on the player.thru the Rescue/Recovery mode on the player. If that does not help then I would do a Format>Cleanup>Reboot thru the Rescue/Recovery mode?

When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button.
It will display the following options:

An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted.

Whenever I try to render something in After Effects CC 13.1.1, an error message pops up, saying "After Effects error: Rendering error while writing to file '[not going to disclose]' An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted (-1610153464)."

I tried reinstalling QuickTime (7), repaired it, updated After Effects to the latest version(as I am writing this), checked firewall software, and used other formats such as AVI.
Adobe Media Encoder (CC 2014-latest version) won't work with me, either.
I sent the composition to Adobe Media Encoder, and this is what I got, no progress here.

Can other projects can output to the same output location? Yes
Can other projects render with the same render settings (codec, format, etc.)? Yes.
If you create a new composition and just add a solid layer to it with no effects in the same project does it render? No. I still get the error.
Can you render that brand new comp with the same render settings, output settings, output location etc.? Yes.
If so, what effects are present in the offending comp? Twixtor Pro in all the cinematics/clips, Motion Tile and Transform for pan/crop & wiggle, Magic Bullet Looks and Bad TV Warping preset with just Wave Warp & Venetian Blinds for color correction, Gradient Ramp for text, Bad TV Warping preset with everything for effect, Transform for fade in/out, and ReelSmart Motion Blur v4.1.2 for motion blur.
Also, what scripts are you using? Just the Move Anchor Point script I found from one of Mt. Mograph's videos, Summit 16 - 2.5D Minecraft Steve - After Effects - YouTube.
Have you ever installed any third-party codec packs? (I've heard of some codec packs causing weird issues like this.) Yes, (not everything I have, just everything I can think of and find) I have K-Lite codec pack, Fraps, x264vfw, and Xvid MPEG-4 codec.

I hope someone can help me.
I am using AE CC/Windows 7 on a Dell computer, 32 GB RAM, 64 bit op system, processors: Intel (R) Xeon (R) CPU x5670 @ 2.93 Ghz 2.93 Ghz (2 processors).
So far I had worked on many projects with no problems and then a few weeks ago the project crashed non stop. The problem was overcome when I got rid of all MP3s and converted them to RAM. Again this was an issue I didn't have in the past and I don't recall changing anything.
Now it seems it is impossible for me to export/render out a project into a Quick time file or even AVI. If its quick time I get this message: After Effects unable to render error an output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted -1610153464 and if I am trying to export with AVI I get this message: AE unable to open projects in the background 26:: 142)
This is happening with different projects.
I read the forums and heard that the problem may be a Bug with quicktime and H.264? I never had a problem with it before but again when I try to export AVI I get this error message:

I have a feeling it is quick time related. I have uninstalled and reinstalled QT but still get the problem. It will open old QT files no problem. I tried to download a bug fix update as one post suggested but I think I have the latest which is why it didn't work.
This particular project has a couple of quick media H.264 files. Do I need to convert them? Are they the cause for all of this?
I am sorry I really tried to look for answers in the forums before contacting you here but I cannot find a reason for all this mess, which again only appeared a few weeks ago with no problems for months...if someone can point out an area where I can start looking, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

update: I converted all the H.264 footage which were in the project to WMV. And I was able to test export with AVI and it turne dout fine (like 10 seconds). However I still got the Error message: "After Effects unable to render error an output module failed, a filme may be corrupted or damaged. Error-1610153464 " when I tried to export H.264 QT..
I don't know what to do now, how can a problem which did not exist suddenly come up. How can I export a QT file? with AVI it will be massive!

All of a sudden Reader says all pdf's rec'd by e-mail are damaged or corrupt. Help available?

I'm using the latest version of Office 365's Outlook on Windows 8.1. I receive many e-mails from different sources containing PDF files. All of a sudden I receive an error message on every PDF. Generally its "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and can't be repaired." I even forwarded a PDF that I know others have been able to open to my wife's e-mail address and it gave her the same error message. So not only are PDF's I receive not able to be opened but my Reader or something else on my computer seems to be damaging or corrupting them! I thought I had a malware problem so I re-set my Dell laptop back to reinstallation of Windows and re-installed Adobe Reader XI. I have also right-clicked on a PDF file and set Adobe Reader XI as the default program.

Please let me know what version of Adobe Reader you are using.
You might need to choose 'Check for Updates' option under the Help menu to use the latest version of Reader i.e. 11.0.10
Also, tell me whether you are viewing the PDFs through 'Preview' or first download the files and then open with Reader.
Try disabling protected mode from Edit> Preferences> Security (Enhanced) and check.

Installed iLife 11 and iPhoto is damaged or corrupted. I see my photos in iDVD media, though.

Cannot open iPhoto. Message says iPhoto is damaged or corrupted. This happened after I installed iLife 11 and after I used iDVD to burn slideshows. I do see thumbnails of my photos in the iDVD media. How do I get my iPhoto and iPhoto library back?

Reinstall iPhoto.
- after backing up, of course.
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

Corrupt Tracks. Anybody have this issue???

Anyone have an issue with corrupt tracks? Started a new session this morning, everything is going great then out of no where my tracks will not solo. I have to then create new tracks and move everything to the new tracks. Then 10min later the same thing happens on one track, then it spreads to every track and I have to create new tracks again, and sometimes I have to create several new tracks because two out of three are corrupt so I have to test a few before i move the audio file. This is INCREDIBLY frustrating and it's been happening for about a year. If anyone has an answer to this I'd greatly appreciate it:) I'm using Logic 8 if that helps.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

How Does A File Get Damaged or Corrupted?

After a recent installation of OS 10.4.8 and Office for Mac on my friend's G4 AGP (Sawtooth) all ran well for a week or so. Then suddenly Word and Excel wouldn't open. Got error message. Attempts to reload Office provided another error message.
The core of these error messages was that there was a "Shared library error (Carbonlib)". From the MS support site we were advised that "This problem may occur if the CarbonLib file in Mac OS X is damaged or is corrupted." The recommended actions were to Repair Disk Permission and do a restart. If that didn't work, Archive and Install OS X again.
Well, even Archive and Install didn't go well, so we ended up doing an erase and install. Now everything is running well again.
My question is, considering the pain involved in fixing the problem, how does a working OS and its files get damaged or corrupted in one week of light use? If there is something we need to pursue to ensure this doesn't happen again, I'd sure like to know what it is.

Corrupt tracks after freezing error

Half way through freezing my project the 'Deep Architecture' error message appeared and messed up the bounces. I then unfroze the tracks, during which logic crashed. After restarting logic and loading up the project again, all the tracks using one particular EXS24 instrument were very glitchy and weren't playing back correctly so i created a brand new track, loaded up that instrument and copied over the regions on to the track but when i soloed and played that track it was still playing back the same as the corrupt tracks even though none of the effects or modulation controls were on the new track.
Can anyone help me?

from what you tell us here, I can't think you messed anything up. You did just what you were supposed to. If the recovery does not help - means the machine will not start in the correct manner directly after a recovery, then I am pretty sure it is in some way defective hardwarewise.
What you can do is to think about if you installed any extra memory after you bought it. If you did, then remove it and try again.
If not, then you should get in contact with an serviceprovider or the dealer (might depend on you terms of warranty).

Corrupt tracks in the Store

Is there any way one can alert Apple about bad tracks? I just purchased Bach's Passion of St. Matthew, and so many of the tracks are cut off in the middle that it is frankly impossible to listen to. There are even tracks like 14 and 15 that are 0 seconds long.

Artistically it is a perfectly fine recording. It is such a pity that it is destroyed by technical problems.

Two weeks have passed. I got reimbursed after the contact with support. Apple still displays the corrupted tracks on iTunes and sells them to other clients.
The peculiar thing is that it is clear that "Apple" is aware of the problem, as they reimbursed me. They even mailed me saying that they are "investigating" the problem. However, investigation apparently does not mean removing obviously corrupt and unusable music.

Corrupted tracks on i-Pod

Hi everyone,
As per my reply to the thread about iPods not playing tracks all the way through ...
I occasionally come across corrupted tracks on my iPod. I've owned three iPods now and this happened on all three.
Either the track aborts half way through. (Although if you skip past the point where it aborts, the rest of the track does play.) Or I get nasty clicks and pops like a really bad LP.
When I go back and check the tracks in iTunes, they're generally just fine.
So, I change some settings to force iTunes to re-sync those tracks and they're fine.
My questions:
1. Why does this happen? Is it mobile phones causing interference with the stored data?
2. Is there a way to get the iPod to scan for corrupted tracks?
3. Is there a way to get iTunes to re-sync tracks without having to fiddle with data to get the track to be more recent?

Received a message that installation of new software incomplete - damaged or corrupted during download. How do I re-download Lion?

I was told to purchase Lion and download/install so that I could upload the latest iTunes and backup my iPhone 5S. However, when trying to install Lion on my MacBook (Mac OSX, Version 10.6.8, 2.4 gHz) I received a message that the software had been damaged or corrupted during download and could not be installed. QUESTION: How do I re-download? When I attempt to do so through App store and click on Download button in Purchases, nothing happens. Thanks!

I would have to presume the 2006 Mac was used, and came with Office 2008 on it from the seller. Apple has never offered Office as a bundled purchase, and it is not pre-installed with any Mac.
Since you have the disk for Office 2004, the activation key should be on a sticker on the CD/DVD sleeve. As I recall, anyway. I no longer have my 2004 copy to check. If you have the key, it doesn't matter who it originally belonged to. You can still enter it and activate the software.
Once you have that installed, you can install the XML converter for Office 2004. That will allow you to open from all newer Windows and Mac versions of Office. The only things that won't necessarily convert are features that don't exist in Office 2004, and so can't be translated correctly, or at all.
Microsoft is saying Office 2016 for Mac and Windows should be available for the official release sometime either late summer, or early fall. So hold off purchasing a new version if you can. MS offers to reduced upgrade price for Office. You'd pay full price for Office 2011, and then again for Office 2016.
And just to note. Office 2008 and Office 2011 work fine in Snow Leopard.

Reader damaged or corrupted files

Hi,
I downloaded the new version of Adobe Reader (from the Adobe site) last week.
After that I began having trouble opening pdf files that I had created with Illustrator (I hadn't had that problem before and didn't connect it to the Reader update) - the message said something like 'couldn't open ... since the file is damaged'. I'd save the file as a pdf, open it to check it was there (which it was), close it and couldn't re-open it again (on my computer nor on a friend's computer) - it also did something dodgy to the original illustrator file so that became damaged and wouldn't open either...
Then other files on the USB stick that I had stored the files on also began to be damaged/unreadable with scrambled file names - I couldn't open or delete the files from the stick either! Now most of the files are missing or damaged - even though I hadn't opened them before they scrambled...
I also lost a number of files on an external drive that I was using to try and rescue some of the files on the stick that looked like they might be okay - scrambled file names etc
So far my computer itself seems to be okay (cross fingers!)
I run up-to-date virus scanning software - which says the files are 'clean'
I unistalled Adobe Reader completely (after my browser started telling me that it couldn't read pdf's) and installed Acrobat - I can now happily open pdf files without a problem.
BUT - I'd like to be able to repair all the other lost files... any tips/hints on how I might do it?

Yep - virus software updates itself daily - in addition, when files started being a problem on the USB I suspected a virus, manually updated the virus software and ran it over the USB as well as my computer - both were 'clean'
Then I also ran them both through some malware software - some cookies deleted from the computer, but the stick was clear (as was the other external drive which is now a problem).... Perhaps that was where the bug was? But I would've thought that the virus software should've picked it up too, shouldn't it?
Although it started with pdfs and illustrator files, I did lose other types of files as well (including word, excel etc)
Since I deleted the Reader (which was AFTER I'd run the virus software), the spreading corruption problems have stopped (I haven't lost any more files/documents) and I can now open and reopen pdfs and Illustrator documents without any problems - though it may just be a coincidence that the two things started and stopped at the same time...
If it is/was a virus that is now gone (or appears to be), is it possible that I might be able to recover them? Can you give me any tips for what I should look for in recovery programmes/software?

DAMAGED LIBRARY, SKIPPING TRACKS, HELP PLEASE!

I'm really hoping to get some help here, because I'm super bummed out about this. The other day Itunes on my laptop started skipping during one of the tracks that was playing. I didn't know what was going on, so I figured maybe it was my computer so I did a "disk clean up" and then defragmented my harddrive with Auslogic. Re-started my laptop, then openned up Itunes.
I got the message "Importing library" and after taking forever I got an error message saying something like, "Library damaged..." and it changed the file to "damaged". Once Itunes finally openned up, it said something about "gapless information" (sorry I don't remember the EXACT messages) and it ran through all of the tracks I had in Itunes. NOW I have a ton of problems with Itunes on my laptop:
*almost all the tracks now skip, it seems real hit or miss, the albums I purchased through the Itunes Store, as well as albums that I got from cds are all incredibly jacked up for the most part
*other tracks that I downloaded outside of Itunes are also skipping
*all of the TV shows that I purchased through Itunes are all showing that I never watched them (you know how they have that little bullet next to them if its a new file you haven't watched) even though I've seen all of them, plus a "TV Shows" playlist was created that I never made
*all of the podcasts I had subscribed to are all gone, instead a "Podcast" playlist was created where all the podcasts I have have all been moved to
*a number of the standard default playlists are all back, even though I had deleted them a long time ago to cut down on the number of playlists I had on my iPod
*now Itunes is showing "Playcount" and "Last Time Played" even though I had previously set up Itunes NOT to show them
Whew. That's about all I can think of. I've tried listening to some of the music I had downloaded outside of Itunes through Windows Media Player, and it skips there too. So I don't know if the problem is with Itunes or if my entire library is just completely jacked and unrecoverable.
I should say that after experiencing these problems with Itunes I never synced my Ipod back to my computer, so everything is still set up on my Ipod and plays perfectly, just like how I had it. If I had to could I upload my library from my Ipod back to Itunes so I could have all my music again?
Please help me. I literally listen to music pretty much all throughout the waking day. Either on my computer or on my Ipod while driving, working out, or at work. I really, really don't want to have to accept that I've lost my entire library after spending hundreds of dollars with the Itunes Store and spending thousands of hours downloading, searching, catalouging, all that. I would really, really appreciate the help.

Someone please help me out here. I've tried un-installing and reinstalling Itunes and the exact same symptoms were still there. So far I haven't synced my Ipod to my computer in over a week because I want to keep my music, but also this means that I'm not getting anymore podcasts or anything, no new music at all to my Ipod, plus I can't listen to music at home anymore because it skips. Someone please help me.
