Dancing Pages

First of all, I have three problems: One, I have two boys who like to get on my computer and mess it up somehow but I fixed that myself. Second, they have somehow managed to make it to where everything I click on a black box surrounds it and then a voice speaks what I just clicked on. It reads everything out loud and it's irritating like my ex. Third, now when I move my mouse, the whole screen moves. It's like I'm zoomed in. I have tried changing my screen size but that didn't work. I suspect my boys have downloaded something from "Myspace.com" or such. Please...please...please can someone help me or direct me where to go for help. Thanks! Michele

He he he ... Sorry!
Hello Michele and welcome to discussions,
Navigate to...
Blue Apple > System Preferences > Universal Access.
There you will find settings for seeing and hearing. They need to be re-set.
Hope that helps some.

  • Where is the so you think you can dance page?

where is the So You Think You Can Dance page? I cannot find it anywhere.

Forget hotel technical support. All they'll do is refer you to a toll free number to the other side of the globe where somebody will tell you to click a Start button, or something. It's an utter waste of time.
What you describe is a "captive network" and yes, the need to authenticate each and every time you shut down your Mac or let it sleep is a common annoyance. The IT idiots that sold the Internet package to the hotel chain is long gone. Complain to whomever you can find, and perhaps one day they'll address their own incompetence. Until then keep your Mac connected, don't shut it down or let it sleep. Even then you may find yourself logged out from time to time, which you might not even become aware of until web pages stop loading. You can do nothing to fix it, other than to refuse to frequent that hotel chain. Be sure to tell them why.

  • Automatic substitutions fractions in Pages 5

    Hello all
Before Pages 5, fractions would automatically convert if you typed 1/2 or 3/4. However, this doesn't happen in the all new singing and dancing Pages 5.1 that I have and searching for it bears no answer.
Does anyone know why these automatic features have changed so much and where you can reinstate them. I have found the 'substitutions' dialogue box but you need to find the fraction to copy and paste. However in character view, fractions are missing!
    Thanks for any ideas

To do this automatically it is really a two-step process.
    1. Go to Character Viewer (special characters) as described above.  Once you have selected digits you will have a choice of fractions to use.  I put the ones I use most frequently in my favorites in the Special Character window.
    2. To make this Automatic in Pages you need to then go to Edit > Substitutions and select Text Substitutions. Then go to Show Substitutions in the same window and select the text preferences button at the bottom left.  In this window you select the + at the bottom and insert, for example, 1/2 in the Replace column.   Then in the With column you select the appropriate fraction from your special character window and drag the substitution to the Replace column.  Do this for all fractions you wish to automatically replace.

  • Search here..why does my home page have music notes dancing around and the word (null)

    hi

    \o,
Just in case anyone else stumbles upon this issue and is wanting answers....
I raised the issue with an apple service rep.
This appears to be a bug. Current theory is that when the phone enters sleep mode (which can be anything from 5-15 minutes or even longer depending on apps that are open and other phone settings - mail, push settings etc) the music app is resetting, well not exactly, anyway it forgets its in shuffle mode if it was in shuffle prior to going to sleep. That is, when the phone goes to sleep the shuffle setting resets to shuffle 'off', as this is the default shuffle setting.
This will require patching in a future iOS update. Might be the next one, might not be. Its not really a major bug so it might not get prioritised for inclusion the next iOS update.
Apparently I was the first person to notice this.. very surprising. I'm sure others have had the same issue but maybe just not realised it was a reoccurring bug.
Wait and see what happens after the next iOS update.
    Kind regards,
    Mikeymus

  • SOMETHING GONE AWRY WITH A BUNCH OF GIFS ON MY PAGE. PLEASE HELP ME.

Please, this is a situation which has me nervous. A friend sent me one of those funny GIF things. It is about six different cat faces and the cats move in different ways depending on what kind of music it is.
I tried to get these GIFs onto my iWeb webpages. I had a difficult time, published one cat face and saw it on Safari on my website. It was a cat with a head bouncing to be bop music. Then I tried to upload all the other cat heads. I botched the job because it ended up with about six of them piling up on each other. Anyhow, I had a bunch of these square windows of cat faces with different kinds of earphones and I thought to myself, "Heh, wouldn't it be funny to see what THAT looks like on a webpage," and I hit the publish button.
As i could see the progres bar advancing I got to thinking how this could muck up my website (I am a neophyte), so I hit the Cancel button. After that, I deleted the page upon which all those GIFs of cats faces bobbing up and down had been placed. I thought that that was the end of it.
Then I went to my email to do something else. Suddenly out of the corner of my eye I could see movement and I realized that it was that notification saying that my page had been published. SO apparently I had not cancelled that page after all. I clicked onto the Visit Me Now button and saw up in the Navbar, a page titled BLANK. The page had bobbing cat head GIFs strewn all over it and I panicked. I closed Safari, went to iWeb to see if I could really get rid of those cat GIFs.
The bottomest line is that I had already deleted that page! How would the cats still be dancing on that blank page if I deleted it? I checked all my other pages and they are OK. How on earth could those dancing cat GIFs be bouncing around on my Safari website when they are nowhere to be found on my iWeb pages?
Please, help me figure this out because I am not comfortable knowing that a whole bunch of GIFs are on my Safari website, maybe screwing everything up by whatever GIFs might be able to do if there were enough of them on a page. Sort of like overload, too any appliances plugged into the wall, etc.
I am nervous, and although this could seem funny on the outside, here in my place it is nerve wracking.

All right. The cat GIFs are gone now from my website. I had earlier hit the Clear cache button, but apparently I had to hit it about 10 more times plus go to sites outside of the website. I left to do something else and now that I checked my website on Safari, that Blank Page is not there and the GIFs are gone.
    I'm glad that's over.

  • How Can I Create a Record/Report Grid on a Page

I want to build a page on which I can display a MySQL table record grid as a report, so that a user can select certain lines for further processing (e.g. emailing "action due" information to a customer).  I've searched and searched, but everything I find just dances around the edges.
For example, I want to be able to display the results of a MySQL query into a customer detail, based on an action date in the records, in a row/column grid, so that those with an action due can be selected, and an email sent to the customers reminding them to post the required action code.  The columns in each row would include: Customer ID, Employee/Applicant's Name, DOB & SSN, the current Action Date and Code.
OK, well I guess after two weeks without a response, I must be some kind of outcast, though I don't know why/how that happened.  While I'm new to web programming, I'm trying to learn, and attempting to follow the rules, when I know what they are.

    Hi,
The process is to first populate the values in the lookup(can be a part of main table or qualified table) and hierarchy tables. Once done, create the main table record and then fill the details in the qualified table for that particular main table record. Since the details of the qualified table are stored in the link established between main table record and qualified table record hence you cannot first create a qualified table record before creating main table record.
Also when you first create a main table record containing set of lookup & hierarchy fields then you wont find the values in the drop down since you have not filled the lookup tables, hence we always fill the lookup table data first.

  • How to print (save) pages as PDF in Safari?

I´m running Lion, we´re getting better acquainted. However, with Safari I´m having problems when I try to save a web page as a PDF using the Print-Save PDF options. It tells me the file cannot be saved. I try duplicating, exporting, etc, and the only solution I´ve found is to email the document, which, when attatched to the email arrives as a PDF with no problem whatsoever. This is silly (close to dancing infront of my MacBook Pro with a black chicken spitting rum in all directions). Please help!

    Hi ...
Might be a plugin causing this..
    Quit Safari.
    Go to /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Move the Adobe PDF Browser plugin to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safari.

  • Footer displayed inaccurately in Dreamweaver CS4 php page

    Hi,
I recently upgraded from Dreamweaver 8 to Dreamweaver CS4. Our organization site uses mostly php pages. When I attempt to open these pages in Dreamweaver CS4 the footer menu bar displays innacurately down through the center of the page and won't allow any edits as it acts like a top layer or something. Usually it acts as a menu bar on the top of any page on our website.
As it should appear from an online screen shot: You'll notice the orange menu bar across the top.
A shot of the Design View in Dreamweaver CS4:  You'll see the menu options are running down the center of the page as text.

    Thanks

The live view or preview functions do not work and lead to the error: "Not Found, the requested URL/html/index.php was not found on this server.'   This is another issue that I don't understand.
Unfortunately, I did not develop this website and have a minimal knowledge of html and Dreamweaver.  I'm not sure if I can answer the question about which menu system we're using - would seeing the code of the footer help?   I'll paste below in case.
And just to be clear, the problem only occurs in editing in Dreamweaver, but when uploaded to our server it appears correctly.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Download error on Dances with Wolves

I have no trouble downloading most movies from the iTunes store. However, I have not been able to download Dances with Wolves. Even though the movie downloads, I get charged for it, the progress bar never advances, and at the end it says the file is corrupted and gives me an error code of -100008. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    ThinkPad   Windows XP Pro

Contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the form at the bottom of their web page and explain the problem to them.
BTW, questions about using the iTunes Store will generally be best posted in the Using iTunes Store with Windows forum. This forum is really intended for problems specifically with the Apple TV.

    Thank you

for clarification, are you saying that I could have put them on the line after:
<title>Long Island, NY, 11550 Music Dance  Art &amp; Drama Lessons</title>
    Yep.
Second, adding these meta tags actually did help the ranking of this company. They were not listed before I did this on their old site. They were on page 1 of their category hours after I did this for them.
I think it's just coincidence.  However, for sure it wasn't the keywords that did that, since those are just ignored (the meta keywords contents, not the meta description contents).
what are the search engines looking for? I want to make sure to design with those things in mind.
They are looking for semantic content on the page.  That means the contents of tags like <title>, <h1>, <h2>, <h3>.  That also means (derived) keywords contained in content 'above the fold', and in filenames, in links, in title and alt attributes.  In other words, search engines want to rank your pages based on *real* meaning of the contents of the page, not on some arbitrary listing of keywords that you place in a meta keyword tag.
Search engines also pay lots of attention to INCOMING links from other well ranked sites....

  • Page up and page down = pages go off centre

A very basic question: when flipping through the pages of a book I've laid out, it would be nice if using the page up or down keys moved to the next page and centred them. Instead, however, the pages are moved knocked out of centre each time. How to get around this?
This happens at all sizings except for 100%. The page size is closest at 127% to the actual physical printed page. There should be a way to set this as the defaul page size. At 127% the up and down keys result in the page dancing bout the screen going off centre both horizontally and vertically. At 100% the centreing is fine verticallz as you flip through the pages, but depending on whether its an odd or even page, the pages will still jump around horizontally. I'm working in spreads.
    Thank you.

... and Shift-PageUp/PageDown is the default for moving through the document in discreet pages.
But if your like me and prefer PageUp and PageDown to move a full page, you can edit the shortcuts to work that way.

  • Adding pages to articles which contain alternate layouts

If I have an article with alternate layouts set up and decide I need to add another page it does not seem to play nicely.
In the pages palette  I have 2 columns iPad H and iPad V. If I create a new page under iPad H and try to give it an alternate layout I get a dialog saying "Alternate layout name cannot be blank, must be unique, and cannot end with a "*" or a ";" character." It will not let me save as iPad V as there is already a layout there so I save as iPad V2 but when I test on iPad the H page shows up in the layout but the V2 page does not.
Does this mean I need to create new article to replace the old one, add all my H layouts to it and then create alternate layouts for each of these again?
Cannot find a good tutorial on the subject.

Doesn't seem to work – something as simple as this! Screenshots show new page moved to end of doc and also what happens when I put after page 1.
Also attached are pages prefs. Pages and spreads allowed to shuffle. Is this correct? Pages just dance around rather than staying put!
Help very much appreciated, I'm probably missing something very obvious!

Where are you hosting your site and how are you uploading the files to it?
Publish your site to a folder on your hard drive and open it locally with your browser to see if these pages display properly or not.  If the look OK then the problem lies with the uploading of the files to the server.
If the local site looks the same as the online site then the problem is more serious.

  • Several spry photo galleries on a web page

I'm a bit new at this, but I have done the Don Booth tutorial on how to create a photo album using the spry framework.
It's all working fine. However, I want to place several galleries on the one web page and I'm really not sure how to go about this.
    Any ideas?

Have a look at the following, keeping in mind that I removed all irrelevant (to the Spry Gallery)  stuff. The points to notice have been highlighted.

        <h1>Singing In Bali, October 2010</h1>
<p> Thirty Australians came together in the beautiful Taksu Resort to learn new choir repertoire with Rachel, relax, swim, and experience Balinese food, culture, hospitality and crazy taxi rides.  Each day we sang looking out onto rice paddies where we got lots of laughs watching a big rooster rounding up his hens.  Food was glorious and plenty of it. Highlight for most of us was our visit to two orphanages where the kids sang, danced and played gamelan for us. We sang some songs for them, and donated gifts and money toward the orphanages.</p>
<p>This was Shirley Jackson's first singing event as an organiser and she did a really fabulous job.

<h1><strong>Big Sing in the Desert, July 2010 </strong></h1>
<p>80 singers from all over Australia, including 28 indigenous singers from the Central Desert, came together at Ross River Resort. The idea for this weekend of song came from my work with the Central Desert Choirs in 'Many Roads One voice'. There was a desire to follow up the project and have singers, black and white, spend more time singing together, learning repertoire and learning from each other. Morris Stuart from Asante Sana was my co – tutor and we have talked about the need to value the beautiful hymn singing and choirs from the Central desert. Many young people are not  singing these days, and some of the elders had talked to us about helping the younger ones learn choir. </p>
<p>Singers from Titjikala community, the Areyonga gospel choir and the Salvation Army choir in Alice Springs attended. The Areyonga choir are young singers taking on the choir tradition in a new way, writing their own songs and hymns. Sandra Windi taught us Nyanpi Matilda (Waltzing Matilda in Pitjantjatjarra) which just might be the next big Aussie anthem! </p>
<p>The Salvation Army choir ladies sang some extremely beautiful hymns in the old Lutheran style of the Hermansberg Choir. They taught us hymns in Arrernte, Walpiri and English.</p>
<p>Thankyou to the hundreds of generous donors from around Australia who contributed to helping us get the indigenous singers to this event.  <strong>Help support an indigenous singer (LINK)</strong></p>

You will have noticed that I changed the gallery name to ensure that there is a distinction between that and the second gallery name. I have also changed  the id to a class because only one id with the same name is allowed per document.
