Dangerous to use Ipod in bathtub?

Im using my Ipod and Koss headsett everyday when Im in bathtub. Its really nice, I dont have my Ipod in the water but on a chair beside the bathub. Is this dangerous? Can I get shock? I have done this in about 3 weeks and no problems so far.

"Assuming the iPod is not plugged into the wall and it's just running off the battery, you can't get hurt/electrocuted from the iPod dropping into your bath water... it has no where near the stored energy or current capacity to hurt you. Obviously, the water will probably ruin the iPod though."
Thank You! The one and only post that did make sense. I also thought that the small battery inside the ipod can do no harm do man. You all should try bathtubipodheadset! ITS FUN AND SAFE! SAFETY FIRST!

Do one or more of the following
    > Restart your computer
    > Uninstall & Reinstall iTunes
    > Reset iDevice (won't erase everything)
    > Go to My Computer (windows xp) or Computer (windows vista & 7) and see if iDevice shows

  • Is there a way to use ipod with new computer without erasing entire library

I'm not really tech-savvy, but I'm tossing my old computer and getting a new one - is there a way to use my ipod on my new computer without erasing my existing library? It won't let me make changes to my ipod and wants me to erase everything that is on there right now - HELP!

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in iTunes enable it for disk use, this is required for most if not all the utilities listed below so they can access the files: Using your iPod as a storage drive
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • I'm using ipod touch for a year now. I was using this morning and suddenly the ipod doesn't work at all maybe it got wet from my bag but there wasn't wet stuff in there. and itunes said iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. please help me

I'm using iPod touch for a year now. It was doing fine this morning but in the afternoon suddenly when I took it out of my bag, the screen was just black and it wouldn't turn on and stuff. So I thought it didn't have battery so I charged it didn't work. I plugged to the computer and it said iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before in can be used with iTunes.
Maybe my bag was little wet today but i don't think that is why.. since it wasn't that bed.. just some paper was wet and stuff..
What should I do..? Please help me.

I bought a used ipod touch.  The music on it was not my taste.  I found a delete feature and EVERYTHING is gone.  How do I get the icons back and start over?

If you did not yet connect with iTunes, you can place any music from your library back into your iPod from the computer. When set to automatically manage usic and videos, whatever iTunes finds changed in your music app will be reset to what is on your computer iTunes library.

I bought a used iPod touch and when I try to set up my iCloud account, it says that the maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this device. Is there a way around this? I thought I could maybe set up the account on my PC and go from there, but it won't let me do that. It is forcing me to set up on the iPod. If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • IPod shuffle 2nd gen not recognized in Mac either Finder or iTunes (but is detected and works perfectly fine on Windows)... i tried using iPod Reset Utility, but no luck...

i've been working on this for the past few days, and still no luck... iPod Shuffle 2nd generation (i know it's old).... not detected in my home MacBook... but works perfectly fine on Windows....
i tried using iPod Reset Utility, soooo many times... and i only had twice the luck of having it formatted... but even though it is formatted, it still isn't recognized in iTunes or even in Finder.... other than the 2 times of having it formatted using iPod Reset Utility, i had seen all the reuslts, like: Error ressetting the ipod blah blah: iPod has been reset, keep plugged in, until reset is completed blah blah: iPod has been reset, unplug and replug your iPod blah blah... etc, i have seen all the possible effects of iPod Reset Utility, but still no luck getting it recognized in iTunes or Finder....
and then , i tried connecting it to a windows computer (but i didn't restore it from there, and just ejected it from windows iTunes), after ejecting it from windows, and then connecting it to Mac, it worked miraculuosly.... perfectly synced and able to put music and listen to them... ejected iPod... after a few minutes, i wanted to add some other music, but when i connected it again, Bam!!!! not working again... even after connecting to windows, it didn't work anymore... guess the magic trick has been doomed...
i badly need help... puhlease...  (^_^)

Hey, I hear ya and can sympathize. I have the same
issue. The difference is that my computer can "see"
    my ipod but it refuses to show up in itunes itself;
therefore, I can't put anything on the ipod (from the
computer) and vice-versa. Apple support is clueless.
This is very frustrating to say the least. Itunes
keeps telling me that my ipod is synced to a
"different" computer, which isn't true. It's the
same computer. The difference is that when I first
got the 'pod and used it with this computer (and
everything worked fine), I was running XP. I
installed Vista and after that, all the problems
started. If I ever get this resolved, believe me,
    I'll post something here.
I'm guessing that somehow, itunes "sees" what
computer it's hooked to by "looking" at something in
the OS. Change the OS and it "thinks" it's seeing a
    "different" computer.
    Try reformatting it.

  • Syncing/Using iPod on both Mac Leopard and Windows Vista.

I can't use my iPod on Vista without restoring the firmware to work with windows, and subsequently losing all the songs on it! Is there anyway round this? Basically this means that I cannot transfer my purchases onto a second computer.
    Not good.

If your iPod is formatted for Mac it won't run natively on a PC because Windows operating systems don't recognize Mac OS-formatted disks (HFS or HFS Plus formats). Mac formatted iPods can only be used on a PC that has a third party helper program such as XPlay or MacDrive installed: How to determine your iPod's disk format
XPlay has the added functionality to let you copy your songs back to iTunes. So you could copy all of your songs to your PC and then restore the iPod to format it for Windows and add the songs back again. A Windows formatted iPod can be used on both platforms though you would have to carry out any firmware updates on a PC to maintain the formatting. If you are interested you can purchase XPlay at this link: XPlay
One last thing, If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • Macintosh HD icon showing as "in-use" ipod

My Macinotsh HD icon is showing as an "in-use" ipod on the desktop as well as in the finder.
These problems started after my girlfriend tried to download itunes onto this computer (even though itunes was already installed).

    HELP! Anyone?!
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

    Ralph,
Thanks for the response. I did not know it could not be done in Linux. I was just throwing out an option that was available to me if there was just a corrput file that I could download and reinstall on the drive. As far as the getting into recovery, I tried both options and did attempt the erase and reinstall. I am only able to get into the Internet Recovery which when prompted, I can go through the menus, but cannot go any further as the Utility can not "find" the Macintosh HD. It only displays the Mac OS Base System (Disk0) partition. I assume I cannot recover or install since it can not find/mount the Macintosh HD. I just emailed him and mentioned that there had been a small amount of liquid spilled on the keyboard a year ago. This makes me think it may be the logic board failing. I will try to replace the SATA first and then go on with a new board.
There was not a warranty to speak of that I was told about by him. Before I started I made sure my cousin knew the any warranty would be voided but he wanted to insure his files were safe, and I was the free option compared to the local computer repair shop.
    Appreciate the help Ralph

I was hoping it would be something like a USB device conflict, but now the shuffle is the only thing connected...
This article was one of the ones you linked to above in your initial post
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1369
Under Part 9. Verify that USB drivers are installed, did you try the steps in If only "Unknown Device" appears?  That appears to be your situation.
Also, you said that the shuffle initially worked well enough to do a sync, then it had the same problem again.  If you can get it to work again initially, before doing anything else, try the following.  Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, go to the Summary tab.  By default, the checkbox for Enable disk use should be unchecked.  If so, check it and Apply the change.  See if that makes any difference.
(If Enable disk use was already checked, try unchecking it and Apply the change.  Basically, set it the "other way" and see if there is any improvement.)
NOTE:  When disk use is enabled, you have to eject the iPod in iTunes before disconnecting it physically.
If the disk use change makes a difference, that may provide a clue about the actual cause.

  • Using Ipod as a HD without Itunes.

Is it possibile to use Ipod as and external Hard Disk, connecting it with a device (for example an LCD tv with USB port) that hasn't Itunes installed?
In other words, a device needs Itunes to recognize the Ipod as an external Hard Disk ?
I hope that Ipod in this case run as a Pen Usb...

I've done some browsing and noticed that 'Split&Concat' has a Windows version named 'HJ-Split'. You can download and use the Windows version to re-join the files you split on your Macintosh.
