DAQ functions no longer available - used to be

ver 5 for daq and version 5.1 lab view. I updated the daq to ver 5.f?? and things went bad. the nidaq config test shows everthing is fine and I can acquire a sine wave just fine. Lab view works fine also - however, the controls toolbar is smaller and doesnt have any daq functions on it ????? no matter what I install or reinstall the results are the same. This is for a tiny company that doesnt want to buy all new stuff. help - thanks

First, you must uninstall NI-Daq software, either the version 5 and version 5.x software.
When you try to reinstall version 5.f, pay careful attention to the way it loads.
There are two things at work here. The NI-DAQ software loads itself, but it also loads the DAQ VI's into your version of LabVIEW so that LabVIEW can access the NI-DAQ drivers. If this part of the installation isn't ocurring, you'll see exactly what is happening with your system.

Scan function no longer available in preferences using HP 7410 All-in-One

I have a Mac Book pro running OS 10.9.5. When I select Printers and Scanners in the preferences my HP 7410 All-in-One no longer shows a "scan" selection on my Mac Book. It only shows "Open Print Queue".
It prints just fine and I know it used to show both the "print" and "scan" selection. I don't know when this ability disappeared. Does anyone know what I have to do to get this capability back? I'm not real computer savy so I appreciate all the help I can get.

Hi,
Click the Apple icon, then About This Mac and select Software Update.
Allow it 30 seconds, then click the top Store menu and select Reload Page.
If there is any HP or Apple update available insall it, reboot your Mac and check if you may scan then.
If the same persists install the following package and check again:

ICal calendars Apple used to provide are no longer available - used to be on .mac

Does anyone know if the old subscriptions for the origial ical calendars for holidays and such have been moved from the old .mac service since it no longer exists? Or do I need to get my hard-copy calendar and add holidays to ical?

Many of the calendars that were listed on the Apple site were hosted on ical.mac.com, which of course is dead in the water. It's up to the authors of those calendars to find another webcal server, and until they do this the calendars won't be available: most of these calendars are third-party. There are some alternatives which do work, for example http://www.hebcal.com/

If you decide to use up to the minute applications, you will have to accept that the computer and operating system will eventually be incompatible with your chosen application as the features in the latest application rely on new hardware and operating systems to support them.
Your options are to either use a newer Mac or use a version of Photoshop that will run on your Mac.

For Topaz, cop the shortcuts from Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photshop CC\plug-ins to the same folder in Photoshop CC 2014

Every day or two, all my AFP users get kicked off our one share point (located on an external FW800 RAID array) with this error:
"The Volume "Work" can not be used and will be ejected because it is no longer available"

I have no idea what ldap_bk is. That must be some internal share for backing up Open Directory automatically? It seems that whenever it happens, all my users get kicked off immediately, there's some remounting of all my drives, but AFP never recovers. Where is that job managed? Anyone know which launchd.plist? Is this even the problem? Any other ideas?

I definitely think it's related to some automated backup that I'm not aware of. I found this directory:

13:13 is exactly when everyone got booted off and coincides with the entries in AppleFileServiceAccess.log. What is firing off this backup process? I've got no third party tools in place that would be doing this.

Try going to the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app on your device and tap on your account id, tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account, and then select the Country/Region section and select the Philippines.

I think the easiest way to do this is to have the EyeTV app running in one user account and sent via HDMI to the TV, and use a separate user account for Screen Sharing. Both logins can be active at the same time and with Lion you can connect via screen sharing to which ever login you need.
With regards to the Mac video resolution changing, when it is not the current input on your AV receiver. This is 'normal', if the Mac sees no signal it drops down the a lower level. What you need is to buy a HDMI Detective Plus which tricks the Mac in to always seeing a signal and hence it will not drop down the resolution. See http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=8005
The Mac mini does have an IR receiver. This can be used with the EyeTV app, iTunes, and similar. Yes I believe EyeTV would run for prolonged periods quite happily, it is has been around for a long time and had most of the rough edges polished off. However one issue you will have to deal with is that it does not automatically update its program guide data. For this you might have to write or modify an AppleScript. Elgato support or their user forums will be a lot of help.
You can set EyeTV to convert recordings to an iTunes (Apple TV) compatible format and then delete them from EyeTV.
The HDMI Detective should solve your handshaking problems.
